Guest February 08, 2019Bang tao and surin are far from secret. And freedom costs 200 baht per person.

Guest December 19, 2018Based on the information presented in this “article”, we decided to visit Paradise beach. I sincerely wish the author to rest on such beaches for the rest of his life. Paid (of which there is not a word in the “article”), with a ban on bringing anything (food, water) with you (of which there is not a word in the “article”) and a bottom so strewn with sharp stones and corals that only with us (and half an hour of “rest” was enough for us to get enough of it) two people were injured. Summary: there is no talk of any secrecy, privacy or other declared advantages. Even more so about the author’s competence.

More selections in Phuket

The beautiful views of the tropical island and the blue sea that open from these observation decks cannot be described in words - they need to be seen and felt.

“A white elephant is born only in the jungle,” the Thais say, meaning that good things are hard to find. Yes, there are few undiscovered places in Phuket, but we did a little research and present 8 unusual locations on the island. Shhh, don't tell anyone about them!

We are willing to bet that there are no beaches, forests or natural parks left in Phuket where no human has set foot. But there are places where groups of tourists are not taken - cozy atmospheric corners “for their own people”. As you read, remember that each of them was ripped from the heart by an experienced traveler!

Bon island with abandoned hotel

For whom: for Robinsons and romantics

How to get there: From Rawai Beach it takes 25 minutes by motorboat to Bon Island

Half an hour by motor boat or 50 minutes by boat from Phuket from Rawai Beach - and you will find yourself on the most deserted island by the standards of the region. Another bonus awaits you on the far side from Phuket - this is an abandoned hotel. Those who have been there assure that you can relax in the building as if you were at your own dacha. Of course, you won’t find water or electricity, but there is a roof, floor and bamboo walls. And nearby are coconut palms and rocks. There is also a beach on the island, which is a real challenge to find. Our blogger Sergei Solovyov writes in his article (18+): “This is my favorite beach, I found it on a Google map. It is closed on all sides, has huge boulders in the middle, and in order to swim there from the sea, you need to manage to walk between the stones along the corridor. You really feel like Robinson there.” You can get to the beach by renting a boat for ten dollars for $30. It’s nice to realize that not far away there are crowds of tourists, cafes, markets, and you’re robinsonizing yourself!

Beach with a view of landing planes

For whom: for trainspotters, aviation enthusiasts and easily accessible extreme sports

How to get there:Public transport from the airport is poor. You need to get to the village by taxi in about 20 minutes. By car you can get there along Highway 402.

On Mai Khao Beach, planes fly so close that it becomes uneasy. Of course, there is no danger, although if you spend all your days like this, the risk increases... as if you lived near an airport, were a pilot or a flight attendant. But you are not going to relax here for years! How do you feel at Mai Khao? The roar of airplane engines, but not deafening, is still the same warmth and smell of the sea. When you get used to it, you will enter the state of sabaya! You can swim in the Andaman Sea and watch the liners right from the water.

For whom: for those who value the place in a restaurant not so much as the food, for lifelong gourmets, as well as Instagram romantics

Address: 218/9 Kata-Saiyaun road, Kata Beach, Karon, Muang Phuket, Phuket, Thailand.

At Foto Hotel (namely “Foto”) you can take that perfect photo from Thailand. Or you can admire the sunset from above while swimming in the pool. This is really a hotel, and there is a platform on its roof. But an outsider can freely come here. We recommend ordering a cocktail and staying until dusk. At this time, special lighting turns on, and the place begins to look like an elite nightclub. The hotel is located next to Kata Beach. The place, of course, is not the most secret, but the location of the site so far scares away the tourist crowds: they do not want to ask permission at the reception.

Fish market

For whom: for lovers of the sea, seafood and fishing paraphernalia

Address: 22/9 4233 Rawai, Muang Phuket, Phuket, Thailand.

This is a fish market where you can buy all kinds of seafood, and then bring them to the restaurant opposite, where everything will be prepared for you. You can order special spices, fillings, combinations - if, of course, you understand. And if not, they will cook it for you at their own discretion and according to their own recipes. The price of pleasure is 100 baht per kilogram of food. Everything you find at Fish Market Rawai is caught the night before. And there is also a pier where you can walk, looking into fishermen’s boats and starting conversations with the owners - though mostly with gestures, because the locals speak neither Russian nor English.

Island Buddhist Temple

For whom: for those who like to be alone

Address: 21/4 Moo 1, Rassada, Muang Phuket, Rassada, Phuket, 83000, Thailand.

The sanctuary is located far from civilization, on a hill. It's not exactly Phuket, but it's close - on Sireh Island. The place is completely non-tourist. Here you will only meet one or two praying Thais and monks. There will be a guard sitting in the hall who will ask you to donate 10-20 baht in exchange for flowers and candles. “The temple stands on the top of a mountain. It’s so calm and good up there that you completely forget about the existence of the rest of the world,” writes our blogger Katerina Knusheva. It also offers a view of the village of sea gypsies. The statue of the Reclining Buddha is also impressive - it is as if he is comprehending Nirvana, which is what we advise you to do.

What to see and where to go in Phuket?

The most interesting and beautiful places for walks. Photos and brief description.

The monument is 45 meters high, installed on Nakkerd Hill in the southern part of the city. The Buddha statue is part of a large temple complex that is being built with charitable funds. Construction of the monastery began in 2002 and is still ongoing. Anyone can donate money for construction. The majestic statue of the god is visible from many points in Phuket; several roads lead from the coast to the attraction.

The temple is located in the center of the island on the way to the Big Buddha statue. The attraction is included in all sightseeing tours of Phuket. Wat Chalong is the largest and most picturesque temple on the island; it is deservedly popular among tourists. In the interior, the decoration of the elements is dominated by gilding, the floor is made of marble. The walls are painted with frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Buddha.

The structure was built at the very end of the 19th century in the Karon beach area. The small temple building looks quite well maintained, as it is carefully maintained. At the entrance there are figures of emerald-colored snake guards. Twice a week there is a night market on the site near the temple, where you can buy food and clothing. Some tourists claim that you can enter the monastery in a swimsuit, given its location on the beach.

Phuket town is located in the interior of the island, away from the beaten tourist paths. There are no beaches or vacation activities, but it has its own special atmosphere. The mansions from the last century that decorate the streets of the old city are built in the Sino-Portuguese style - a mixture of Chinese and European traditions, which indicates the times of alternating dominance of the Portuguese and Chinese on the island.

The bridge was built in 1967 and connects Phuket with mainland Thailand. Over time, it could no longer cope with the increased flow of cars. In 2011, a new modern bridge was built nearby and Sarasin became pedestrian. An observation deck has been installed here, which offers views of Phang Ga Bay and the exit to the Andaman Sea. At the foot of the bridge there are restaurants serving fresh seafood.

A walking alley on the territory of Patong Beach, the center of Phuket's nightlife. There are more than 200 bars, several large night discos, shops, and shows for adults. During the day, the street is an ordinary resort alley where they sell souvenirs and offer local cuisine. At night it turns into a motley gathering of wandering tourists, local transsexuals in breathtaking costumes and girls of easy virtue.

A weekend or, more correctly, weekend market, which is located in Phuket Town next to the Naka Temple. On weekdays, only a few outlets are open here. Trading starts at 16.00 and continues until 22.00-22.30. This is a very bright and colorful place where you can try several dozen types of Thai street food, buy souvenirs, clothes, shoes and various trinkets.

Lard Yai is considered the largest market in Phuket. Unlike many other similar places, local residents shop here, so prices are lower than in tourist places. The shopping area is located in Phuket Town and is open only on Sundays from 16.00 to 22.00. The rest of the time it is a busy street with fairly heavy traffic. Like any Thai market, Lard Yai's counters are bursting with an abundance of food items.

9. Shopping center "Central Festival"

A large modern store in Phuket Town where a tourist can spend a fair amount of money. This is the most ordinary shopping center, of which there are many in all cities of the world. In addition to goods from global manufacturers, Thai products are sold here, and at the local food court you can taste fast food with a national flavor. Numerous massage parlors offer their services on the territory of the center.

The stadium is located in the center of Patong on Bangla Road. It is considered one of the best in Phuket. Boxing matches are held here three times a week, usually about 10 fights per evening. Serious professionals often come to demonstrate their skills. The arena has a capacity of 350 seats. Those interested can attend Muay Thai training sessions, which are held in the evenings on days when there are no competitions.

A colorful theatrical performance telling the history of Thailand. The show involves several dozen elephants and more than 400 people. For an hour and a half, the viewer is immersed in a fascinating world of magnificent scenery, colorful costumes, acrobatic stunts, traditional dances and special effects. The show has been running since 1998, since then it has been visited by a huge number of tourists.

The second historical performance, opened in 2011 and is a worthy competitor to Phuket FantaSea. Tourists often face a dilemma: which show to attend? Many people decide to watch both. Siam Niramit is a branch of the capital's show park in Phuket. Before the performance begins, spectators are invited to visit an impromptu Thai village and have dinner at a restaurant.

A famous show featuring transsexuals and transvestites. They perform mind-blowing funny stunts, dance and sing superbly, causing indescribable delight among the audience. The actors demonstrate all their skills on stage, and the grateful audience responds with incessant applause. Simon Cabaret has been operating since 1991 on the beach (resort village) Patong.

Museum of 3D paintings and optical illusions, opened in 2013. Against the background of “volumetric” images, magnificent photographs are obtained, since in the picture the entire composition is combined into an overall picture. The gallery has reproductions of works by famous masters - Van Gogh, E. Munch, Da Vinci. Before entering the museum, you must take off your shoes, as some parts of the 3D images are located directly on the floor.

The museum exhibits a collection of the Patamacantin traveling brothers. For 40 years, they traveled to countless countries and collected many artifacts around the world. The collection contains more than 2,000 exhibits, many of them are quite rare and valuable. For example, the museum houses a 140-carat pearl and a huge shell weighing 250 kilograms. Some shell fossils are several hundred million years old.

Oceanarium, which opened in 1983. The aquarium displays the rich fauna and flora of the ocean and fresh water bodies. Moray eels, catfish, huge perches, bright tropical fish, sharks, stingrays, seahorses and other inhabitants of the depths (about 160 species in total) live here. Some of the most interesting creatures of the aquarium are the cat fish, box fish, clown fish and leopard shark.

The park is located in the central part of the island, approximately 8 km. from Phuket Town, it has been operating since 2013. The territory is home to more than 300 species of birds brought from all over the planet (about 1000 individuals in total). The creators of the park worked hard on the landscape design. There are gazebos, wooden figurines, sculptures scattered everywhere, and there are even several artificial ponds. The main attraction is the bird show, which takes place three times a day.

A small picturesque park located on an area of 1 hectare. It opened quite recently, but already claims to be a popular attraction on the island. The park space is divided into zones. There is a Japanese garden, a palm grove, a prairie with cacti, a Balinese corner, a European park, and a traditional Thai provincial house. In the Botanical Garden there is an artificial waterfall, where a tunnel entwined with greenery leads.

A small “branch” of a Buddhist monastery, where there are long-standing traditions of keeping tigers and teaching them to interact with people. Several animals live on the territory; the tourist can choose which one he wants to enter into the cage. The cost of visiting depends on this. It is believed that these tame tigers are not aggressive and do not attack people, so they can be petted. But before entering, each visitor is given a paper to sign, according to which he agrees with all the consequences of visiting a dangerous predator.

A hill located near Phuket Town that is home to a colony of monkeys. There are a lot of animals there, they are not at all afraid of people - they calmly walk along the road, hang on trees, and happily eat treats from the hands of tourists. Sometimes a whole flock of monkeys can tag along behind a car or moped; this sight looks very funny. At the top of the hill there is an observation deck overlooking Phuket Town.

One of the largest and most picturesque waterfalls in Phuket. Jets of water fall from a height of 15 meters; you can swim in a small lake at the foot if you wish. The place became famous due to the fact that on its territory there is a nursery for orphan monkeys. Here, baby gibbons left without care for some reason are nursed. You cannot enter the nursery, but you can make a donation.

The reserve was founded in 1981. Its territory stretches along the northwestern coast of the island. Within the national park there are wild beaches of Bangtao, Nai Thon, Nai Yang, Mai Kao, where giant turtles nest. The reserve has a unique mangrove grove, where various species of this tree are represented and mangrove snakes and monitor lizards live. The total area of Sirinath is about 90 km².

The point is located between Nai Harn and Kata beaches. From the top of the hill there are views of the coast and beaches of Karon, Kata Yai, Nai Harn, and the statue of the Big Buddha is clearly visible. The observation deck is popular among tourists; many people come here to admire the surroundings. There are a couple of cafes nearby where you can grab a bite to eat. There is a large gazebo on the site.

Rang Hill is located within Phuket Town, overlooking Chalong and the emerald Andaman Sea. At the top of the hill where the observation deck is located, there is a monument to P. Ratsadanupradit, one of the respected governors of Phuket province. Wild monkeys live on the slopes and sometimes beg visitors for food. Near the observation deck there is a restaurant and a small park for sports.

A less popular and famous viewpoint in Phuket. It offers views of the beaches of Nai Harn, Ya Nui and a small uninhabited island off Prom Thep Cape. The site is equipped with a gazebo and several tents with food and drinks. There are not many people here, as well-trodden tourist routes lie away from this picturesque place. But this is perhaps for the best.

The cape is the southernmost point of the island. From the local observation deck you can watch stunningly beautiful sunsets. Travel agencies even organize special evening excursions so that people can see the magical colors of the sun setting into the waters of the Andaman Sea and painting the entire horizon in all shades of pink. In clear weather, you can even see the distant shores of India from the observation deck.

Nai Harn is located in the southwestern part of Phuket. On both sides it is surrounded by low mountains, which are covered with palm groves. The beach is small - only 1 km. in length and up to 50 meters in width. It is suitable for a relaxing family holiday with children, as the descent into the water is smooth and gentle. Thanks to warm currents, the water temperature remains within a comfortable range of 27-30°C throughout the year.

Member of the three most popular and popular beaches on the island, which, in addition to it, also includes Kata and Patong. It stretches along the coast for several kilometers. There are a lot of hotels and tourists here, but still not as crowded as in Patong due to the longer coastline. There are fewer people on the outskirts of Karon, so those who like solitude are advised to go there straight away rather than look for a place in the central part.

A large beach with golden sand and a shallow entry into the sea with a length of more than 7 km. It is located next to Patong. The southern part of the beach is more populated; there are restaurants, cafes, retail outlets and other infrastructure. The northern part is less popular due to its inaccessibility. In the central part of Bang Tao there are several natural lakes that are connected to the sea through a narrow channel.

The coastline of the beach stretches along a coral reef. According to some tourists, this is the cleanest water in Phuket. From May to October, winds blow here, so the place becomes popular among surfers. Many local hotels are located in close proximity to the beach and their windows offer excellent views of the azure Andaman Sea. Kata is suitable for both family recreation and active pastime.

One afternoon we went for a walk and at the same time see the beaches that do not appear in guidebooks or on travel agency websites. Still, the phrase “secret beach” sounds mysterious and tempting. There are several such hidden beaches in Phuket; the closest one to us was Hua Beach in the Kamala area.

The path to the beach was difficult. We didn’t have a bike, so we walked, sometimes going up the mountain, sometimes going down. The walk from Kamala to this beach took 40 minutes.

We didn’t meet any other pedestrians, except for these plump, smooth, shiny lizards watching us, sitting on the rocks. I don’t know why, but this lizard reminded us, it’s just as plump

And extraordinary blue caterpillars, which we have never seen before. The size of a sausage!!

The beach was found on a satellite map. We followed the GPS in case the path to the beach was not marked in any way. And finally we saw the sign.

Promising sign

Hua beach on Phuket island

Hua Beach turned out to be the most ordinary beach. There is nothing for the eye to catch on here, because there is nothing beautiful or unusual.

There is one simple cafe for locals. Which, apparently, is their home and place of work at the same time.

Hua beach on Phuket island

Neither tourists nor locals. Just a couple of lost souls, like us, who came to see a little-known beach in Phuket. This is probably why he is little known.

Slava, where have you taken me?

Where can I order a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience In this article

The sand here is yellow and large, and there is garbage of natural and artificial origin lying on the shore. The water also leaves much to be desired.

There are almost no waves. But we wouldn't swim here

Even local children, who at first dared to swim, quickly changed their minds and began to run along the coastline.

There is no need to go to Hua Beach on purpose. You can see what the beach is like. None in one word. Although in the last photo he is quite exotic and cute

How to get to Hua Beach in Phuket

You can walk from the beach in 30-40 minutes or ride a bike in 5-10 minutes. To do this, from the left side of the beach, follow the road to the mountain, then turn right and follow the path straight all the time, on both sides of which there will be hotels and villas. After the first hill there will be a small beach and the five-star Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort hotel, then another hill, on the descent from which there is a right turn onto the path to Hua Beach.

Hua Beach Phuket on the map

Coordinates: 7.947281, 98.264450

Good day everyone, and I’ll tell you about the secret places of Phuket, which the average typical tourist does not know about - it is not marked on any map and there are no roads leading to it. It is so secluded and beautiful that it did not leave us indifferent. We found out about it quite by accident, wandering through the jungle and finding a path in the thickets that led us to this small island of solitude overlooking the sea. Nearby within a radius of several kilometers - there is not a single soul there, and it is located within walking distance from Patong Beach in Phuket.

So, let's call it Secret Beach, it is located between the beaches (Patong Beach) and (Freedom Beach - Freedom Beach). I will tell you how to get to this place from Patong Beach, I will show you the road along which we walked, and then we took off our motorbike and arrived there.

Secret places of Phuket - beach (Secret Beach) how to get there

On the road running along Patong Beach, you will need to turn right at the fork (moving towards Karon Beach). Further after the bridge the road goes up.

We reach/arrive at a fork where signs will show that the road goes to the right to Paradise Beach, and to the left to the Avista Hotel.

Go left to Freedom Beach and you will reach right, the road to Secret Beach.

We turn right towards Paradise Beach and move along the asphalt road until another road fork.

This is a fork where the sign shows you where Paradise Beach is - we don’t need to go there, we turn left from the road and move up until the road ends and we run into a concrete fence.

Turn right at the concrete fence and you will see a road leading deep into the jungle - this will be the same path leading to our Secret Beach. If you keep in mind, in the depths of the jungle lives a hermit - a monk.

On the way to the beach we found this dried fly

Don’t think that you can cover the entire path on a motorbike - at the end the road will end and you will have to descend on foot. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes, as the path goes steeply downhill and you can have a great slide down the hill. We pass under this huge stone lying right on the road.

What is this secret place in Phuket?

Well, here we are - this is our secret place that we want to share with you. We haven’t tried swimming here, there are rocks all around - and we don’t know how to get ashore later. But it’s great to sit and sunbathe all alone here.

I think this place is still good for picnics - we saw traces of a fire, and of course rubbish stuffed between the stones - I don’t understand how you can shit in nature! Friends, I think it’s not difficult for any of us to collect the garbage after ourselves in a bag and take it with us. Let's treat nature with love, because it gives us so many positive emotions, the view from this beach alone is worth it!

What's interesting on the secret beach for lovers

It was on this beach that I first saw large crabs, not those sand-colored babies that scamper along the beaches, but really plump, handsome ones, like those sold at local seafood markets. They lazily bask on the rocks, but when they see a person, they immediately run away. This is what the descent to the water looks like, so we didn’t dare swim here.

But if you are looking for a secret Phuket beach without waves, then this is the perfect place. The transparency of the water is perfect, once a boat arrived nearby from which people jumped and swam for a long time wearing masks. Speaking of the animal world. Here you can observe unusual fish with legs. They cling to stones with the help of fins and funny jump into the water. We managed to photograph these bug-eyed creatures, look how strange these creatures are. You definitely won’t see anything like this in Patong.

And only sometimes our peace was disturbed by boats passing by, taking tourists to the beach (Freedom Beach). The tourists sitting in the boats looked in surprise at our couple, who somehow climbed onto these stones.

What do you think, friends, what grows on the dwarf palm trees that form entire thickets along the sea coast here? This is the most exotic fruit that can only be found in Asian countries, and it is called pandan. At first we confused it with a popular fruit here - durian; indeed, they are very similar in appearance. Our pandan in the photo is still unripe, when it ripens it will turn yellow, red or even purple, it all depends on the variety.

In Thai cuisine, pandan and its leaves are used to flavor and color desserts. Because of the spicy aroma, rice and fish are wrapped in leaves; such envelopes can be found in local markets and makashnitsa. Pandan fruits and seeds are eaten fresh or boiled, and drinks made from this fruit are rich in nutrients and vitamins. By the way, we learned about this fruit by watching an episode of Heads and Tails, where the presenter ordered himself a traditional Singaporean dessert - kaya. This is a sweet jam made from pandan.
