Coast of Spain. Costa Barcelona - the most beautiful region in Spain Spain Costa de Barcelona

Choosing a place for a family vacation, especially with small children, is not an easy task. The flight should not be long or tiring, the sea should be crystal clear and warm, the shore should always have fine-grained yellow sand, and the food should be familiar, tasty and designed for delicate stomachs.

Overview of the resort towns of the Costa de Barcelona-Maresme

But at the same time, we should not forget about adults who will want to look at the sights, do some shopping and even relax a little in one of the drinking establishments. Where can I find a place that meets all these criteria? Of course, in Spain!

Spain is a gentle sea and bright sun. Its location at the junction of the endless Atlantic and the closed Mediterranean, Africa and Europe, the world of Islam and Christianity has left an indelible mark on the entire appearance of the country.

Spain is an open-air museum, and it is here that the fantastic creation of the great Gaudi is located - the amazing Sagrada Familia cathedral. Spain is the owner of a huge number of sandy beaches that meet the highest quality standards and along which there is a long chain of hotels aimed at families with children.

Estimated cost of the trip in a 3-star hotel for 10-11 days for 2 adults and 1 child with departure from Moscow is from 2,300 €. But this money is justified in terms of price ratio and quality rest with high service.

The articles will describe resorts in Spain with the following information

  • How to get to resort centers;
  • List of hotels and beaches;
  • Available entertainment with addresses and prices: clubs, water parks, attractions;
  • Weather at resorts by month.

The first article is devoted COSTA DE BARCELONA MARESME (Costa de Barcelona-Maresme)

The coast of Catalonia, with its many kilometers of beaches of silver sand, washed by the azure waves of the Mediterranean Sea, is popular among lovers of nature and a beautiful holiday.

The coast is surrounded by the Pyrenees mountain ranges, and the mild maritime climate of the province has a beneficial effect on the body, giving it tone, vitality and energy for the whole year.

The coastal towns of the Costa de Barcelona Maresme (Malgrat de Mar, Santa Susanna, Pineda de Mar, Calella) have become thriving resort centers over the past decades, offering a wide network of hotels and entertainment complexes.

The resort towns of the province can be reached from Moscow or Kyiv by flying to Barcelona International Airport - El Prat (Aeropuerto de Barcelona-El Prat). The second busiest airport in Spain is located 10 km from Barcelona.

How to get there for residents of the Russian Federation and ticket prices

Flights directly from Moscow are regularly carried out by the following airlines:

  • Aeroflot (travel time about 4 hours 40 minutes);
  • Vueling Airlines (about 4 hours 40 minutes);
  • "Transaero" (from 5 hours to 5 hours 30 minutes);
  • Iberia Airlines and S7.

Airlines also add charter flights during the high season.

Choose the cheapest flight tickets It is possible if you analyze the calendar of low prices for air tickets. It works very simply - you look at the prices for air tickets and, seeing what day of the month the best deals are offered, you book them immediately online.

Hurry up to do this as quickly as possible, great deals don't stay vacant for long!

How to get there for residents of Ukraine and ticket prices

  • The average flight duration from Kyiv to Barcelona is about 4 hours.
    UIA, AirBaltic, Transaero, Turkish Airlines, Lot, Czech Airlines, Tap – Air Portugal and Austrian airlines operate both direct flights and flights with transfers in Prague and Rome.
  • A direct flight in the direction Kyiv-Barcelona-Kyiv will cost 1 person from $580;
  • With a transfer in Prague – from $321;
  • With a transfer in Rome – from $317.

But don't forget that connecting flights for children are not an acceptable option, so you should only consider direct flights.

If you only buy air tickets and make hotel reservations, you can get from the airport to Barcelona by bus, train or expressway.

You can order an individual one. This option is faster and more practical if you arrive at night, when public transport is still in service, you are with small children who are tired from the flight, you are poorly oriented in an unfamiliar country and do not know Spanish.

Also such a transfer is beneficial for a large company, because expenses can be shared by everyone.

(Costa del Maresme) - the Catalan coast towards the south of the popular Costa Brava. This is a developed tourist area with excellent transport links and railway connections to Barcelona.
Photo: Costa del Maresme Map

The pride of the coast is clean and very wide beaches with excellent sand and warm sea. There are not many rocky and secluded bays here - almost all the beaches are perfectly flat stripes. The sand on most of them is coarse, does not stick to the body and clothes, and does not muddy the sea. There are several suitable diving sites in Santa Susanna and Calella.

The climate of the Costa del Maresme is mild Mediterranean - in summer the sea saves you from the heat, in winter the Pyrenees shelter you from the winds from the north. The average summer temperature is +25-28°C, and the winter temperature is about +9°C. By the end of June, the water warms up to 25°C and swimming brings maximum pleasure.

The Catalans call this place the “fruit coast” - there are a lot of strawberry plantations and orchards here, and the harvest is harvested three times a year.

This coast is famous among Russian-speaking tourists because it is one of the most budget-friendly in the Spanish Mediterranean. Tourists are advised to choose inexpensive three-star hotels that are not inferior in service to expensive “five” hotels. Many people choose this place as a cheap option near Barcelona, accessible by train. From there you can continue your journey to the ancient beauty of Girona.

5 things to do on the Costa del Maresme. Things to do:

  1. Lie on the standard beaches of Pineda de Mar - permanent Blue Flag nominees;
  2. Breathe in the scent of pine trees and serenity in Sant Pol de Mar;
  3. Travel by train to stunning Barcelona;
  4. Overeat with strawberry desserts in Malgrat de Mar;
  5. Spend an exciting day at Aventura Park in Santa Susanna.

You can visit the Archaeological Museum or go bowling.

Attractions

The first attraction is the medieval church of Santa Maria in neoclassical style. Walking through the streets of Calella you can see ancient mansions and palaces. And if you walk to the old watchtowers of Las Torretas, the observation decks will offer a panoramic view of the entire coastline all the way to Barcelona.

Photo: Santa Susanna

Santa Susanna is a compact resort, in the foreground of which are luxurious beaches and the azure sea, and behind are hills covered with fragrant pine needles. In the middle are luxury hotels, villas and mansions. The city has many playgrounds and many options for interesting leisure activities.

Beach

The sand of the beaches is quite coarse and in a light storm the water does not become cloudy, but remains clear. Mountains protect the beaches from the wind and decorate the landscape. The long coast of Santa Susanna, 2.5 km, is divided into three beaches ranging from 35 to 50 meters wide:

  1. Levante (Playa de Llevante);
  2. Caletes (Playa Les Caletes);
  3. Dunes (Playa Les Dunes).

Leisure

The beaches of Santa Susanna offer scuba diving, surfing and parasailing. Walking along the promenade it is easy to get to your neighbors in the resort of Malgrat de Mar. In addition, Santa Susanna has parks and botanical gardens: Colomer, Riera and Mirador. The Park at the Boter Fountain is especially picturesque with mineral springs (some of them thermal), as well as unique flora.

There is also a more exciting holiday - in the adventure park Aventura Park , where you can ride thrilling roller coasters, visit a cowboy saloon, ride a train through Mexico and visit China.

Attractions

The most outstanding architectural monument of Santa Susanna is the 13th-century Caen Rates Castle, which houses a cultural center. Many stone houses, chapels, and watchtowers from the Middle Ages have been preserved. The main church of Santa Susanna is notable for its gilded altar.

Catalonia is perhaps the most popular part of Spain among Russians (still Spain, although a lot is being said and done to gain independence for Catalonia). A huge number of charter and regular flights from different cities of Russia land in the capital - Barcelona.

Mild climate, inexpensive hotels with good food, proximity to the beautiful city of Barcelona, Antonio Gaudi, Salvador Dali, gothic, modern, classic... All this can be found in Catalonia.

From resort towns you can travel to Barcelona, visit other regions of Spain, close to France, Andorra.

From Barcelona there are fairly inexpensive flights to Rome, Paris, Venice, and Lisbon.

The main resorts of Catalonia - north of Barcelona: Costa Brava and Costa del Maresme). The Costa Brava, after the city of Blanes, becomes the Costa Del Maresme.

IN south direction from Barcelona towards the city of Tarragona there is a coast Costa del Garraf with the Garraf mountain range of the same name, passing after Tarragona into the sunny Costa Dorada (in the Catalan version Costa Daurada).

Coastal cities

I will describe the cities to which our tour operators sell tours.

Costa Dorada

The warmest coast, the unofficial tourist capital of which is the city of Salou.

Salou

Salou is popular among tourists due to its proximity to the Port Aventura theme park, and also attracts with numerous restaurants, clubs, bars, and wide beaches with soft sand. The sea is beautiful and the water is slightly warmer than on the coasts of Brava and Maresme. What is relevant, for example, at the beginning or end of the season.

Salou is quite a big city. The most interesting place to relax there is in the central part, which runs along the embankment. There are two singing fountains on opposite sides of the embankment. One is more modern with a laser show (near the railway station), the second was built by the architect Carlos Buigas, who created the famous “Magic” singing fountain on the Montjuic hill in Barcelona.

There are many interesting villas on the embankment near the railway station. Some have good restaurants.

Another interesting area Cup Salou (Cape Salou) . It is located on a hill, surrounded by pine trees. The beach is located in a bay between rocks. You need to go down to the water. The place is very beautiful, however, it is far from the center. The area is connected to the central part by bus service. Buses of the Plana network also go to neighboring cities - Reus, Tarragona, as well as to Port Aventura and Barcelona.

From Cup Salou we go straight to La Pined y (not to be confused with Pineda in Maresme). The town is pretty sad. At night it is quiet and peaceful there, unlike Salou, where life is in full swing around the clock. But in La Pineda the hotels are cheaper and higher class, and there is also a Pacha club and a water park. Personally, I love action, so I choose the center of Salou. If you want a quiet holiday, then you can choose La Pineda. In fact, La Pineda and Salou are a single resort area.

These places are popular because Salou is home to the Port Aventura theme park. I advise everyone to visit it, even those who do not like attractions (for example, me)). The park is very interesting.

On the other side of Salou (moving away from Barcelona) there is the city of Cambrils. This is where locals prefer to live, while Salou is more of a seasonal city.

The biggest disadvantage of a holiday on Dorada is that the train pass is not included in the integrated transport system, as with Brava, Maresme and Garraf. On these three coasts you can buy a T10 pass for 10 trips, with which, after traveling by train, you can travel on the metro/buses/trams using the same ticket for a certain period of time (1 zone - 15 minutes). Thus, having arrived by train at Barcelona station from Maresme, you can use the same ticket to get to del Garraf. Or take the bus/metro and go to the other end of the city. Since a ticket for a single trip in 14 cost already 1.8 euros.

A round trip from Salou to Barcelona costs about 20 Euros - not much cheaper than the universal T10 from Maresme for 10 trips. If you travel from Dorada to Barsa often and move around the city, then the travel expenses will be very large. And the distance is longer. It takes 2 hours by bus, about an hour and a half by train.

By the way, you can go shopping to the neighboring cities of Reus and Tarragona. There is Mango in Salou. Dorada resorts are good in themselves. Foreigners come to relax, Barcelona doesn’t bother them much, so they love Dorada very much.

Costa Del Garraf

The city is considered the tourist capital of the coast Sitges , located half an hour from Barcelona (line R2 from Barcelona Sants station). The coast itself is very beautiful - mountain range, coastline. And Sitges is a very worthy town and a level above the rest of the tourist crowd in Catalonia.

The city has good shops and clubs. In general, Sitges resembles the towns of the French Riviera. The beach area is surrounded by breakwaters, so the sea water warms up quickly. Swimming in mid-June is quite comfortable.

The city is popular with gays. Lots of shops and clubs for gays, gay beach.

A gay pride parade is held on the 15th of June. A very cool spectacle. It looks more like a show or a carnival, and most likely that’s what it’s held for.

Calafell

A town with nothing at all and nothing to do. The only good thing is that it is close to Barcelona.

Costa Brava

The most fun town on the Costa Brava is Lloret de Mar . But all Russian tourists call it Lloret de Mar. There are many clubs, discos, and fashionable hotels in the town. Although the resort is more youth-oriented. Very nice historical center. Not far away in the mountains there is a beautiful private castle, very beautiful.

The beach area of the central part is located in a bay and is surrounded by small rocks. The beach strip is narrow. During high season, the beach is crowded with vacationers.

There are breakwaters and coves where you can swim during windy weather. The beach has coarse golden sand.

The downside is that the town is remote from Barcelona and there is no train station. To go to Barcelona, you need to take a bus to the R1 railway station in Blanes, and from Blanes you need to go to Barcelona by train. Or you can go to Barcelona or neighboring Girona by bus from Lloret bus station. The journey to Barca can take about 2 hours.

Those who want silence should stay closer to Fenals beach. There is a good hotel ALVA PARK RESORT & SPA 5* (formerly Rigat Park).

City of Tossa de Mar the most remote, but very beautiful.

Blanes

As I already said, there is a railway station in Blanes, but the station is far from the resort area, so you need to take a bus or walk for a long time to get there, which is inconvenient. Blanes is quite large, but quieter, more boring and simpler than Yoret. There is absolutely nothing to do there. And it’s hardly worth choosing for relaxation.

Malgrat De Mar and Santa Susanna

In Malgrat there is mortal melancholy. All things to do in Santa Susanna. Although both towns are small, with a border in the form of vegetable plantations.

There are railway stations. The cost of a train ticket is more expensive than from Maresme - the next zone.

Costa Del Maresme

This coastline, stretching along the railway, has many inexpensive hotels.

Costa Del Maresme

This coastline is located along the R1 railway line to Barcelona. Therefore ideal proximity to Barcelona. There are a bunch of coastal resort towns along the road.

Kaleia

I really like Kaleya. Wide beach strip. Nice center, good restaurants, many clubs. There are many shops, there is Desigual, Lacosta.

The coast is open. If there is wind, there will be strong waves. There is a railway station. Barcelona is an hour's drive away.

The beach is separated by a boulevard. People walk, relax on benches.

Pineda

This town smoothly flows into Caleia. The city itself with fountains, a local diagonal, and generally quite nice. The prices there are much lower for food and everything.

But you can choose Pineda only to save money - hotels are cheaper than in Caleia. There is nothing to do at all in the evening. It happens that after 23-00 you can walk around half the city in search of an open bar/restaurant. There are no clubs or discos at all. True, hotels arrange animation and offer an all-inclusive system. There are many mini-hotels for European old people. They organize luxurious concerts, costume dances, and sing. So cute.

And not far from the station there is a cafe, nicknamed by a friend “Scrambled Eggs”. There really is a picture of fried eggs on the sign. They make an excellent Sangria, very inexpensive to boot.

You can take a taxi to the clubs of Kaleia and Santa Susanna - 10 euros.

And finally, you can have a great time on the beaches of Barcelona itself. True, those who are spoiled by the clean sea and proximity to resorts frown and suggest it is better to go to the clean beaches of Brava, Dorada, etc. On weekends, huge traffic jams form from Barca towards these places. But if you want to enjoy Barcelona and not have to travel far to the beaches, feel free to choose Barcelona. The beaches in the Barceloneta area have been improved there a long time ago - you can have a great time.

Spain, Costa del Maresme is a resort area of Spain, located half an hour from Barcelona, south of the Costa Brava region, in the northern part of the Costa de Barcelona. Costa Barcelona has a coastline of about 100 km, and the Costa Maresme beach stretches 50 km from the town of Montgat to Blanes, and includes the provinces of Malgrat de Mar, Calella, Pineda de Mar, Santa Susanna and Paul de Mar.

High mountain ranges prevent strong winds from penetrating the resort, excellent sandy beaches and affordable prices for holidays (lower than in the Costa del Sol) in this place make this destination popular for tourists. The climate here is mild, Mediterranean, the weather allows you to relax here from the end of spring to the end of September.

Beaches and beach services in Costa del Maresme

All beaches in the Costa del Maresme are spacious, with golden sand, comfortable for adults and children, equipped with everything necessary. Nearby there is all the necessary infrastructure. The best beaches in the region:

  • Pineda de Mar beach is one of the most famous and popular beaches, its length is 3 km and its width is 45 meters. The beach is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas. For an additional fee you can rent a catamaran and rent diving equipment.
  • Playa de Gran in Calella is located near the city center and is popular, especially among families with children due to its gentle slope into the sea. The beach is marked with a “blue flag” for cleanliness, and its length is 1.5 km. It is equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas, inflatable slides for children, toilets and showers. If necessary, you can rent towels.
