The final trip of our Euro tour was a trip from Prague to Vienna, which we decided to take by bus. On weekdays, Student Agency buses start running from 3:30 to 16:30 at intervals of 2 hours, plus the last flight at 23:55, you will see a detailed schedule when you start booking tickets.

Tickets, in principle, can be bought at the central bus station itself (the so-called ÚAN Florenc Praha, where flights depart from), but then you need to be prepared for the fact that they may not be available. The best solution is to buy tickets online (save your nerves and time).

How to buy tickets?

Now I’ll try to explain how this can be done on the site

  1. On the right side, enter the points of departure and arrival, the date of travel and the age of the traveler. Important: if you do not need to go to Vienna itself, but to the airport, the name of the station should be entered as follows: Vienna, Schwechat Airport Busstation.
  2. Select a suitable flight. The first bus leaves at 3:30, then every 1-2 hours until 16:30, plus a night service at 23:55. It’s convenient that all these are non-stop flights. By pressing the blue I button, you will receive all the information you need about your upcoming trip. If you have one of these documents (EYCA - European Youth Discount Card or ISIC Internationally Recognized Student ID), then tickets will be even cheaper.
  3. After choosing a flight, click the “purchase” button and select seats.
  4. In the lower right corner there will be a “continue to summary” button (continue), and do not forget to tick the consent to the processing of personal data (shown in red)
  5. We fill in information about passengers and pay for the purchase.

In addition, tickets can also be purchased through the website http://czech-transport.com/, there is a menu in Russian, but tickets will cost a little more.

Price

Tickets cost 18 euros. It is profitable to buy round-trip tickets, since in this case the return ticket costs a euro cheaper. With the current exchange rate you will save 70 rubles :)

Departure station

ÚAN Florenc Praha: Prague Central Bus Station is located at Křižíkova 6, Praha 8, close to the Florenc metro station (line B/C).

As soon as you get to the station, look for the platforms of the Travel Agency company.

Buses to Vienna usually depart from platform 1, but it is also possible to depart from platform 21.

Buses, I must say, cannot compare with ours. They offer free hot drinks, air conditioning and a toilet. We were especially pleased with the leather seats, in which such a long journey passed unnoticed. In addition, there is an electrical outlet (230 V) and even Wi-Fi is available, but only in the Czech Republic. A flight attendant will always come to your aid.

The ride is long - 5 hours, but comfortable buses (particularly the seats) smooth out the impression. The road is straight, we passed through towns and villages, a pleasant view from the window if you drive during the day.

In Vienna you arrive at the Busterminal Stadioncenter station at Engerthstrasse 242-244, 1020 Vienna, Austria. There is a U2 metro station near the Stadion Center shopping center, which can take you to any part of Vienna.

Car rental in the Czech Republic

If upon arrival in the Czech Republic you want to visit several cities, as well as travel to neighboring countries, then renting a car is preferable to numerous trips by bus or train. And when there are more than 2 people, the cost of renting a car is comparable to the cost of tickets.

You can book a car, then pick it up at Prague airport or in the city. The optimal time to rent a car in terms of cost is 3-7 days. Price for 7 days starts from 80€.

After walking around Prague for several days, there is a desire to go to some neighboring country, because Germany and Austria are several hours away, by Russian standards “very close by”.

One of the popular destinations for such trips is the capital of Austria, Vienna. Of course, you won’t be able to see all the sights of the Austrian capital in one day, but you will have the opportunity to admire the symbol of Austria and Vienna - St. Stephen’s Cathedral, wander around the Old Town, and visit other famous places.

Perhaps the easiest way to cover the considerable distance between the two capital cities is to travel by bus. Several companies work in this direction, including Radina VIP, EuroLines and others.

The cost of travel for all carriers is different, as is the duration of the journey and the level of comfort. The carrier Student Agency is ready to boast of the cheapest offer, whose bus ticket does not exceed twenty euros. But you will have to give up the already familiar comfort details in the form of air conditioners, wifi, individual sockets and even toilets.

As a rule, buses depart either from the central bus station or depart from famous places that are located near hotel complexes. The trip will take approximately 4 hours. A wide selection of flights allows you to choose the optimal time to leave the Czech capital. Buses depart from early morning until late at night. It is a trip by bus that allows you not only to save money, but also to at least get a glimpse of the provinces of these developed European countries. To be able to compare life on the periphery and in the center of the country.

By plane

For tourists who always and everywhere travel by air, German and Austrian air carriers are ready to offer their first-class services. The choice of companies is quite wide, and their offers will not leave anyone indifferent. Although, for the sake of fairness, we note that it would be hard to call this type of travel budget. For example, the cheapest offer at the moment is from the German carrier Germawings, on whose plane you can get to Vienna for only 12,800 rubles. At the same time, you will have to spend several hours in the sky and come to terms with the need to make a short landing in Dusseldorf. In particular, the flight will take passengers at least 5 hours, three of which they will spend in the waiting room of the intermediate airport.

Passengers will have to fly even longer on planes of other airlines. A moderate ticket price often hides a multi-hour flight (more than 25 hours!). The only exception is the Austrian company Austrian, which is ready to deliver everyone to the main cities of the country in just 55 minutes! But you will have to pay extra for such pleasure. The starting price for a ticket starts from 45,300 rubles!

Air travel should be considered as a last resort. After all, you still have to get to the center of Vienna. The fastest way to do this is on the high-speed City Airport Train, a ticket for which costs more than 10 euros. But the journey will take no more than 16 minutes.

Train Prague-Vienna

The railway company will also help you realize your dream and see Vienna. During the day, trains make 8 direct flights between the two capitals. Please note that you can only purchase a train ticket at the station's international ticket office, which is located on the second floor. Since Prague train station is so easy to get to, taking the express train is easily one of the easiest and most efficient ways to see Vienna.

The first train leaves the Czech station platform at 6.42 local time, and the last train leaves at 23.50. The total travel time is 4 hours 10 minutes, excluding the last train. The night train arrives in Vienna at 6 hours 10 minutes, so the total travel time is 6 hours 20 minutes. It is the last train that tourists most often choose. After all, in this way you can avoid additional costs for hotel accommodation. You can get a good night's sleep in a comfortable compartment, arriving in the capital of Austria early in the morning full of strength and energy.

The only drawback of the train tour is the relatively high cost of the ticket. For the cheapest ticket you will have to pay 35 euros, and for a trip in a “luxury” compartment – 60.

By car

For those who are the proud holder of an international driver's license, a trip by personal or rented car is an excellent option for visiting Vienna. But such a pleasure will not be cheap, because you will have to refuel the vehicle from your own pocket. Estimated fuel costs will be 100-120 euros, and if you rent a car, feel free to multiply by two.

Now you know how to get from Prague to Vienna, and what transport you can save on.
