What is interesting about a holiday on Koh Samui? What to see on Koh Samui - list of attractions of Koh Samui entertainment

In addition to a beach holiday, we’ll look at entertainment on Samui, find out what to see, where to go and what to do with children, and we’ll definitely touch on prices for excursions and other expenses that will help you have a fun time in Thailand.

Beach holidays on Koh Samui

Koh Samui is an island of Thailand, located in the waters of the Gulf of Thailand, and ranks second in terms of attendance (after). The tourist infrastructure is developed; this resort offers its tourists absolutely any type of holiday, but preference is still given to beach holidays.

Here you can find many hotels in different price categories, ranging from inexpensive (budget) to luxury. Also on the island there are many detached bungalows and villas located on the very shore, which.

The island is characterized by the cleanest and most beautiful beaches; they run along the entire perimeter of the coast, but even in high season you can find a secluded place for solitude. In addition to a relaxing beach holiday, water sports are very popular activities for tourists.

Entertainment on Koh Samui is very diverse. In addition, the island has many natural (waterfalls, jungles), as well as man-made cultural buildings of historical value (temples, Buddha statue).

The high season begins from January to April, at this time the island is very crowded, the weather is the most comfortable, but prices also rise.

The tourist season lasts the whole year, it is quite acceptable for recreation; if there is rain, it is short-lived and unnoticeable. Visiting is not recommended from October to mid-December - the rainy season with heavy rainfall begins.

Samui money is represented by baht, in denominations of 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 characters. The approximate cost of 1 baht to the Russian ruble is 1.6 rubles, i.e. 1 baht = 1.6 rubles.

When planning a trip to the island, be sure to check the prices:

  • , the best direct flights and with transfers from Moscow, cities of the Russian Federation,
  • , we are looking for the best offers from major tour operators.

Entertainment for children and adults at sea

The resort can offer both children and adults many water activities, all of which are safe. All tourists are briefed before starting, and an experienced guide-instructor accompanies and assists throughout the entire excursion.

The most common marine entertainment for children on Koh Samui is visiting water parks; there are two of them on the island. Coco Splash - presented with a variety of water attractions, swimming pools, trampolines, jet skis, mainly intended for children, the emphasis was placed on young visitors. The cost of a child ticket is 350 baht, an adult ticket is 400 baht.

The Pink Elephant water park is intended for both children and adults; on its territory there are swimming pools, slides and attractions, divided into children's and adults, jacuzzi and swimming pools. The price for a child's visit is 690 baht, for an adult 990.

Pink Elephant Water Park

Diving is one of the favorite water activities for adults, but children over 10 years old are also welcome when accompanied by their parents. The dive takes place in a special helmet, and not in a mask, this makes you feel more comfortable and safe and, of course, will facilitate the process itself.

Preparation takes place carefully in the pool and depends on the purpose of the dive. Price for an adult – 2000 baht, for a child – 1500.

Snorkeling. Recommended for children over 5 years old and adult tourists. Includes snorkeling and sea fishing. The duration can be chosen from one to two days as desired. The price of a child ticket is 700 baht, an adult ticket is 1300.

Paddleboarding at sunset

It is carried out for both adults and children over 8 years old. Riding takes place in the calm, close to the shore, allowing you to develop balance and admire the beautiful sea coast. Cost from 1000 to 1500 baht per person, depending on the time. Rentals are located on any beach.

Sea fishing. Another type of sea entertainment, which is quite popular among tourists, both adults and children over 12 years old enjoy this trip.

Excursions and attractions of Samui

What can you see on Koh Samui when visiting it? After all, the island is also rich in natural attractions. The most visited and widespread of them are natural parks, valleys, waterfalls and lakes.

The Ang Ton Natural Park is recommended; it is a small group of islands that amazes its visitors with their extraordinary beauty, and in ideal bays you can swim, dive, and engage in water sports if you wish. The cost of visiting is about 1000 baht per person, depending on the chosen entertainment.

Namuang is a beautiful large waterfall, at the foot of which there is a lake where you can swim.

Namuang Waterfall

Hin Lad Waterfall with its extraordinary tropical forest surrounding it is suitable for adventure lovers. Visitors have to get to it through the jungle; many have an unforgettable experience from this excursion. A visit to the two waterfalls costs from 700 to 1000 baht, depending on the excursion program.

Paradise Park Farm Nature Reserve will introduce tourists to some of the islands where many animals live. These are monkeys, iguanas, parrots. You can see peacocks and ponies roaming freely here. All animals can be petted, and some can be photographed with. The cost of an adult ticket is 750 baht, a child ticket is 450.

What to see on Koh Samui on your own? First of all, these are local pagodas and temples. Many of them will not be difficult to reach without a guide. Some still contain mummies of ancient rulers, and some surprise with their unusual architecture. In any case, the most exotic of them include:

  • Ler Sor Temple - a beautiful pagoda set against a natural landscape, surrounded by a small recreational park;
  • Plai Laem is a modern Thai temple built near Choeng Mon Beach, with an 18th-century Buddha statue on its grounds and sacred fish in a pond;
  • Wat Khunaram is one of the most famous temples, where the sarcophagus with the mummy of the priest is kept. He died during meditation and his body remains incorrupt for a long time.

Many temples have free entry.

The best beaches of Koh Samui

Chaweng Beach on Samui is one of the most widely visited, its infrastructure includes detached villas. Beach lovers can find their paradise here.

Chaweng beach with white sand

The beach is large, divided into three zones, the sea is quite shallow, which makes swimming safe for children. On the coastal strip you can collect corals, there is a pagoda and a temple nearby, you can reach it on foot.

Here you can have a delicious meal, visit a bar, sit right on the beach, and also order any water activity or excursion.

Lamai Beach on Koh Samui is no less famous and loved. In its central part there are also many hotels of different categories, bars and cafes located on the coast, cozy tables. The water is clear, the bottom is free of rocks, there are no waves, it is an ideal place for a family holiday and is suitable for people of all ages.

On the shore, this beach has picturesque boulders that add to its charm. The beach is large, so even in high season it does not feel overcrowded.

Where to go in the evening?

There are many entertainment venues here, the nightlife here is very developed, bars, restaurants, various shows.

  • Restaurant Dr. Froggs, one of the best, will help you get acquainted with real Thai cuisine, all dishes are beautifully served and delicious. The menu is very varied, but the prices are quite high.
  • “Volkin Street” is a unique street where tourists can taste alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, eat fried insects, and buy various souvenirs. The street is very lively and interesting to visit.
  • The Garland restaurant is budget-friendly, but with very tasty dishes, and will help you appreciate Thai cuisine.
  • Muay Thai fighting is an exciting and spectacular show; real fighters from all over the world perform here. Widely visited by tourists.
  • Ark Bar on Chaweng is a great bar, it is located right on the beach, here you can try cocktails and lie on the sand, or dance at the disco.

What to do on Koh Samui in rainy weather?

If you visit the island during rainy weather, this will not make it any less pleasant; there are many options for spending a vacation not related to the beach season.

Entertainment options:

  • magnificent spa salons and Thai massage will not leave anyone indifferent;
  • yoga classes;
  • visiting shopping centers, shopping;
  • visit to the aquarium or zoo, near Natier Beach, cost about 600 baht;
  • attending numerous excursions, which are difficult to attend during the beach season due to the hot weather. These are pagodas and temples, you can add a wind tunnel attraction, which will help you feel the effect of weightlessness;
  • Fantasy show, interesting entertainment for children and adults, visit the Elephant Palace, carnival games, crocodile farm, butterfly valley.

When there is light rain, many tourists go on a jeep tour along the washed-out road; these conditions add to the thrill of the experience. Price from 1100 to 1400 baht.

Is it worth going to Koh Samui? Of course, without a doubt, definitely, on the first flight! Ask why there is so much emotion in response to such a simple question? Because I just returned from this wonderful island a month ago and I still can’t calm down from the emotions and impressions that have captured me.

This vacation left only positive emotions, a lot of positivity and a great desire to return to Koh Samui again.

Judge for yourself: magnificent nature; clean beaches that are cleaned every morning; gentle warm sea without a single wrinkle of the waves; very smiling and friendly Thai people. Without exaggeration, the food on the island is very, very tasty. Compared to Phuket, European food here is much better. If you ask for something not spicy, then the dish they bring is not spicy according to European standards, and not according to the standards of the Thais themselves (as was the case with us in Phuket).

Getting around the island is a pleasure. All roads are either asphalt or concrete with a very good quality of road surface. On the island you can rent a car or motorbike and calmly travel from one end to the other, completely independent of the whims of excursion tour operators. We rented a motorbike and enjoyed traveling around all corners of the island, and the road in the center of the island is also excellent, so it’s quite possible to overcome it even on a bike. The island itself is not large, and if you plan a trip to any attraction in the morning, you can calmly and leisurely ride there and back, and still have time... read more

How much does a holiday on Koh Samui cost? August 2017.

tour cost

I planned the excursions and the entire trip myself. Tickets for two adults + one year old child (Novosibirsk-Bangkok-Samui-Hong Kong-Novosibirsk) about 60 thousand rubles (tickets were purchased in Tomsk, at the place of residence). Visas for a month are free, we went once for a visa run to Madaisia, after which we lived peacefully for another month. We didn’t pay for the transfer - we were met by a guy we knew in a car. In total, we lived for 2 months without 4 days. We rented a house for 2 months for 15,000 baht (30,000 rubles/month).

We took only 1 excursion from the SamuiDays company - to the Paradise Park National Park (with a child it cost 6,500 rubles for three)

Food and products

On average, food cost 500 baht per day - about 1000 rubles. With this money we could easily eat in large shopping centers such as BigSea on the 4th floor in the food court, in small eateries, of which there are a lot on the island. Sometimes we bought ready-made food at 7/11 or FamilyMart. We didn’t cook it ourselves. We didn’t go to expensive restaurants either. For example, a large portion of Tom Yam, or chicken noodles, costs 40-50-60 baht (80-120 rubles). Beer on average is about 90-120 rubles. We bought fruits at the markets, but they were more expensive than we even got - bananas from 70 baht (140 rubles), pineapple 80 baht (160 rubles).

Where is the best place to stay?

Hotel Anjali is a 3* mini-hotel located next to Maenam Beach. I had a room with an ocean view. There are many cafes and restaurants nearby. Of the minuses: glass doors did not provide good sound insulation, as a result of which street noise was often heard. Despite this, I was very pleased with the choice: reasonable price, nice spacious room, very friendly staff and magnificent view.

The breakfasts seemed a little overpriced to me (as it later turned out), so I went to nearby cafes.

Maenam Beach is a very long beach located in the north of the island. Pleasant sand, good deep sea, practically no waves. Gentle entry into the sea. Along the beach there is a palm grove where you can hide from the sun. The beach, in my opinion, is suitable for people who prefer a relaxing holiday or for families with children. There are few cafes and bars, and the beach is generally not crowded. In the evening, only a few bars are open and you will hardly see anyone on the beach.

Next to Maenam Beach is Bo Phut Beach and is radically different from its neighbor: in the evenings it is fun and crowded. I really liked the embankment. It seemed to me that the place was more suitable for youth recreation.

Lamai Beach is a sparsely populated beach (at least it was like that in March). Hotel beaches are equipped with everything necessary; there were no showers in the rest of the territory, toilets are only for cafe visitors. You can get sun loungers there, but there are not too many of them and not enough for everyone (100 baht). If you don’t have an umbrella, you’ll have to bask in the sun, since there is no natural shade on the beach (or almost none). The beach is quite long. I was in its southern part: a deep sea with large boulders that you can suddenly stumble upon while swimming. It was stormy for several days; I understand that this is not uncommon in March.

Where can I eat?

I really liked Mae Nam (Maenam Beach): excellent cuisine at the level of a good expensive restaurant, despite the fact that the prices are average. I note that they are not lower in comparison with other places, but in most cases the cuisine was inferior in comparison with Mae Nam. In addition, the establishment is distinguished by high quality service. Excellent presentation of food.

About the quality of food and service

Good cuisine (with rare exceptions). Service varied, sometimes there was a long wait.

How much does it cost to eat? About food prices.

Breakfast is around 150 baht (not far from the hotel) - mainly coffee and something to go with it. Lunch cost me somewhere around 150-200 baht: as a rule, it was limited to one or two dishes, depending on the size of the portions, since the portions are often large, and I am, in principle, a restrained eater. It could be: pizza (180-280 baht), seafood salad (80-130 baht), vegetable salad (70-90 baht), chicken salad (100-130 baht), fresh juice (60-80 baht), soup (60-80 baht). Fast food was also present: burgers (130-150 baht), tuna or chicken sandwich (100-130 baht). As for dinner, it turned out differently depending on the place and mood.

Mae Nam: rice with shrimp and vegetables – 120 baht, fresh juice – 60 baht, tom yum – 150 baht, seafood salad – 139 baht, burrito – 195 baht, pineapple baked rice – 160 baht, coconut shake – 80 baht.

Koh Samui is one of the most developed tourist regions in Thailand. The constant influx of tourists provides not only excellent weather conditions, sandy beaches, but also a large selection of attractions that can be seen during vacation. Here you will find beaches, Thai temples, natural waterfalls, palaces and a national natural park.

The sights of Samui are scattered throughout the island, so to explore all the interesting places you will need to take or book separate excursions.

Samui attractions map

Below we have arranged the most visited tourist sites in order of increasing popularity.

12. Maenam Beach

Maenam Beach

Located in a beautiful bay in the north. A four-kilometer coastline - no pebbles or large stones, only fine yellow sand. The entrance to the water is steep, with cliffs, and the sea itself is a beautiful azure color.

There is a palm grove nearby, so the beach is enveloped in a pleasant aroma.

The coast is well equipped: there are cafes, souvenir shops, and water equipment rentals. There are no sun loungers freely available; they all belong to coastal pubs. If you buy a drink at the bar, you can freely use the sun lounger all day.

11. Lamai Beach

The beach, 5 km long, is located in the eastern part of Samui. Conventionally divided into 3 parts:

  • northern;
  • southern;
  • central.

The northern part is the quietest. A suitable place for a quiet, secluded holiday.

In the southern part of the beach it is not very pleasant to swim: the sea is deep, and there are hedgehogs and jellyfish. But there is a good rental of water equipment, a lot of hotels, nightclubs, and bars.

The central part is home to small tavernas on the shore, serving delicious Thai cuisine. A good place for swimming: a gentle entrance to the sea, without sharp cliffs. Sun loungers and umbrellas are freely available.

10. Chaweng Beach

The most popular place among tourists looking for a great beach holiday. It is unofficially called the “Mecca of Koh Samui”.

Chaweng stretches along 7 km. The coastline is a wide strip of white fine sand. Coral reefs and a rich emerald-colored sea provide a worthy backdrop.

People come here for a fun, active holiday. There is a rental center where tourists can rent any water equipment - skis, ATVs, boats. There are also a variety of categories of hotels here, ranging from premium class to small hotels without stars.

On the beach there are sun loungers, tables with umbrellas, you can use them for free. There are countless crowds of sellers of ice cream and soft drinks. Showers, toilets, and changing cabins are available (for a fee).

9. Magic Alambic Rum Distillery

The place is popular among gourmets and those who like to taste strong drinks. Look for a rum distillery in the southern part of Samui, near Bang Kao Beach. Here they offer educational excursions, during which they explain the process of making the drink and show the production. For a fee, you can try dozens of types of rum, and also buy a bottle or two as a souvenir.

Working hours : Monday-Saturday from 9.00 to 20.00, Sunday until 18.00.

Price: excursion for a group of 2-8 people. - 65 euros, tasting is paid separately for each type of rum for 1.28 euros (50 baht).

It is considered the first settlement on the island. Chinese shops with fancy shapes and modern boutiques and restaurants coexist here. The population lives in small houses built to resemble antiquity. Everything in the world is sold in the village, the prices are ridiculous. Local restaurants are considered some of the best on Koh Samui.

7. Wat Sila Ngu Temple

Wat Sila Ngu Temple

You will find it near Lamai Beach. The place is relatively quiet, good for a relaxing holiday. A staircase leads to the temple, the railings of which are made in the form of two snakes. The temple itself is a beautiful terracotta color, inside there are illustrations with Buddhist motifs and miniature sculptures of the saint.

Visit: free and during the day, duration - 15-30 minutes.

He hid among the dense jungle, 2 km from the capital. To see it, you need to walk through the jungle for about half an hour, but the result is worth it. The waterfall itself is small, but beautiful - you can safely take a swim. Nearby they sell soft drinks at reasonable prices.

Tourists can see various sculptures and the beautiful Tarnim Waterfall. The garden was built by hand by one person. An excellent place for meditation. There is a cafe and souvenir shop near the main entrance.

Price: 2 euros

4. Paradise Park

Located on Khao Pom Mountain, in the center of the island. The park is a relatively flat landscaped area of tropical vegetation. People come here to meet beautiful birds - parrots, peacocks, wild pigeons. Children will love this place; you can feed the birds, play with monkeys and squirrels.

Working hours : daily from 8.00 to 18.00

Price: adults - 10 euros, children - 7.65 euros.

This huge complex was built in 2004 with donations from believers and consists of 14 sculptures and statues. All of them are the personification of something - female wisdom, kindness to others, compassion for the poor and the sick. Look for this Samui landmark 3 km north of the international airport. Entrance to the territory is free, but there are donation bins everywhere. The tourist must be decently dressed: no short skirts, shorts, covered shoulders.

Many Armed Buddha

2. Khao Hua Jook Pagoda Buddha Temple

An important cultural monument for the inhabitants of the island is located on a mountain in the Chaweng area, next to the international airport. From here you have an amazing view of the beach, lake and the airport itself.

Tourists are attracted by huge hanging bowls and a machine that predicts the future. You need to make a donation and receive a piece of paper with a fortune. A creative way to shell out money for tourists, isn't it?

This is a working temple that houses an imprint of Buddha brought from India.

1. Ang Thong National Marine Park

Ang Thong Marine Park

The name means "bowl of gold" in Thai. The park, consisting of 42 islands, is located 35 km west of the center of Samui, in the South China Sea. The best way to get to it is by water. You can rent a boat or go with a group: sightseeing tours often run from Samui.

Most of the islands are high limestone cliffs and uninhabited. Tourists usually visit two places - Mother Island or Ko Mae Ko and Ko Vu Talab. A cave and an observation deck with stunning views of the Emerald Lake are freely accessible. You can rent a bungalow or a tent and have lunch in a restaurant.

Park fee : adults - 7.65 euros, children - 3.83 euros.

Fast canoe ride : adults - 56 euros, children - 43 euros, under 4 years old - free.

So, first, let's look at where the attractions are concentrated to create the best route.

2. Temple complexes

2.1. Big Buddha

The huge Buddha statue, 12 meters high, is the hallmark of the island! This place is simply a must visit! The statue is located on top of a hill on a small island connected to the island by a causeway. The territory of the complex is small and consists mainly of shops with souvenirs and clothing.

It’s a pity that the photo does not convey the scale of the statue:

And from the site where the Big Buddha statue is installed, there is a stunning view, so it’s worth coming here if only for that:

By the way, a visit to the Big Buddha statue is usually included in a sightseeing tour of Samui, so if you want to see several attractions at once and you like the format of the excursions, you can go, for example, to.

2.2. Wat Plai Laem

But if we talk about the temple complexes of Samui, then the coolest and most interesting place is the Plai Laem Temple. The complex is located not far from Big Buddha, so you can combine visits to these two places (and at the same time compare which is more interesting).

Lake in the Wat Plai Laem complex:

The temple complex has a large area on which a variety of huge figures are located, and there is a lake (where you can ride a catamaran and also feed the fish).

Sculpture of Goddess Guan Yin:

It’s nice to just walk here, plunging into the atmosphere of Buddhism. The complex was built quite recently, but despite this it is really very cool here! If, for example, you are with children, then Wat Plai Laem will definitely be more interesting than Big Buddha.

All detailed information is available. You can look at the option with a tour or.

2.3. Mummified monk

There are actually several mummified monks on Koh Samui, but the most famous one is in the small Khunaram Temple. It has become so popular among tourists simply because it is conveniently located - not far from the turn to Namuang Falls.

To be honest, I don’t know what is special to see there, it’s a creepy sight - the monk is completely visible, although his eyes are covered with glasses, but nevertheless, the entertainment is so-so.

2.4. Magic Garden

The magical garden contains many stone sculptures of Buddhas, various animals, demons and ancient deities. All this is shrouded in vines, and the stone buildings are overgrown with moss, so the place seems really very mysterious and mysterious. If you come here in the evening, it will be a little creepy.

To get to the garden, you need to go towards Paradise park, following the signs. Entrance costs 80 baht, children are free.

3. Natural attractions

3.1. Namuang Falls and Namuang 2

Namuang 1 and Namuang 2 waterfalls are located in the same place, only Namuang 2 is higher. Most tourists, of course, stop at Namuang 1 waterfall and do not go higher.

The waterfalls are actually not that impressive, but the nature around them is worth a visit. Namuang 1 falls directly into a small natural pool where you can take a swim. The bottom, however, is not visible there, so it can be a little creepy.

Mom was really scared to go into the water alone!

On the other hand, it all depends on the time of visit; it is best to go there early in the morning, when excursions are not yet available. Otherwise, you risk getting into “rush hour”, when besides you there will be another 20 people in this pool:

The beauty of the waterfalls also depends on the time of year - in summer the waterfalls dry up from the heat and turn into thin streams. We didn’t see the gorgeous waterfall:

A visit to the waterfalls is also included in most sightseeing tours of Koh Samui. You can see what else the sightseeing tour includes, as well as find out prices.

3.2. Rocks Grandmother and Grandfather

We never got to these rocks, and it’s not very clear what’s so interesting there. Just a few rocks, shaped very much like male and female genital organs... But in general, the place is very popular, all tourist excursions (for example, this one for $38) include a visit to these rocks. So if you want to complete the maximum program on the island, then go there too.

3.3. Beaches

This is truly the main attraction (so to speak) of the entire island. Because people go to Samui, first of all, to lie on a beautiful beach, run on the snow-white sand - in general, enjoy a beach holiday.

Lamai Beach:

There are a lot of beaches on Koh Samui; if you want, you can go around them all, because they are very different from each other. If you think that every first beach you come across will be like a Bounty picture, then you will be disappointed. The beaches are different - party Chaweng, family Maenam, popular Lamai, there are also a bunch of small beaches. Everything is different - entry into the water, the presence of algae and debris (although this rather depends on the time of year and the tides), the quality of the sand (from coarse yellow to fine gray-white).

4. Where to see animals

4.1. Paradise Park

Paradise Park is one of the best places on the island! This is definitely must see for any category of travelers. There is everything here - amazingly diverse nature (there are so many different types of plants in no other place on the island!), a petting zoo, a children's playground, and a panoramic pool with a breathtaking view:

You can take pictures with exotic birds or colored pigeons:

The territory is very large, you can spend half a day (or even a whole day) here, walking through picturesque places. The park is located in a mountainous area, the entire territory is at different levels, so you will have to overcome hundreds of steps, going down and up, to get around everything:

Very cool place, more photos, as well as useful information with prices, how to get there, etc. located .

You can get there either on your own (on a bike or a rented car) or. If you go on a bike (as we did), then be very careful - the road is difficult, and not every bike can handle all these steep climbs.

4.2. Safari Park

Safari Park is much more popular than Paradise Park, but despite this, it greatly disappointed me. In this park you can watch 5 different animal shows, ride an elephant (or take a photo with it), but at every step you will have to pay for literally everything, even if you go with.

Elephant ride:

The area is small, there are not many animals. But, nevertheless, if you have not been to such shows, it might be interesting.

You can also take beautiful photos:

All contacts, detailed information, our impressions and video show can be viewed at.

4.3. Zoo and aquarium

It is located near Lamai beach and will, of course, be primarily of interest to children. The zoo and the aquarium are located on the same territory, but, judging by the reviews, most of it is still an aquarium. There are not many animals, so if you have been to large zoos and aquariums, you will not see anything particularly impressive here.

In addition to viewing animals and marine life, you can also see shows with animals (fur seals, tigers, birds). The ticket costs in the area 750 baht(adult) and 450 baht(for children), allow no more than an hour for the entire visit.

If you are not particularly interested in marine life, then, in my opinion, it is much more interesting (and even cheaper!) to go to Paradise Park, where you can easily spend half a day!

4.4. Crocodile farm

There is also a crocodile farm on the island where you can watch shows with crocodiles and snakes. It is located near the airport, the entrance ticket costs 500 baht. It’s probably better to go straight to the Safari Park - there will immediately be snakes, crocodiles, monkeys and elephants.

5. View Points

In fact, there are many viewpoints on Samui - from Lad Kho (on the ring road between Chaweng and Lamai) to views from Paradise Park, located high in the mountains. You can simply drive around the island along the ring road, stopping in beautiful places, or you can go for lunch or dinner in a cafe with a beautiful view. Among these cafes, the most popular is Gekko Bar, located in the Bo Phut area.

And I wrote about our favorite viewpoint in, from there there is a stunning view of the sea:

6. Excursions

If your time on Samui is limited, but you want to see more, it is better to go on one of the complex excursions to see as much as possible in a minimum amount of time.

Advantages of organized excursions— maximum attractions, included transfer directly from the hotel, and, most often, a Russian-speaking guide.

Well and among the minuses- limited time for each stop and slightly higher cost.

6.1. Jeep safari around the island

You can go for half a day or a whole day.

What is included in this excursion? Elephant rides, crocodile shows, monkeys on a coconut plantation, water slides, a visit to the Magic Garden and a jeep ride along mountain trails. The full-day safari additionally includes visits to the Wat Phra Yai temple complex, which is great for watching the sunset. You can view detailed descriptions and prices here:

6.2. Fishing

If you like fishing, you can go to sea with a special excursion. The price includes transfer, everything for fishing, as well as lunch on board the fishing boat.

6.3. Dolphin Journey

Another excursion that the whole family can take is a boat ride in search of dolphins. In addition to watching dolphins (although it depends on your luck), the excursion includes a visit to mangrove forests, a mystical cave, and the island of Tan.

6.4. Sightseeing tour of the island

Many travel companies offer sightseeing tours around Samui. Basically, they all include visits to all the most interesting attractions. In 1 day you can see all the best on the island.

You can go on this excursion:

And if you are with your family or company, then one of these:

7. What else to do

7.1. Go to the evening market

We were at the evening market in Lamai (), and in the fishing village (Fisherman's Village). At the market you can buy all sorts of cool souvenirs, but the main thing is to have a very tasty dinner!

Once a week (Fisherman - on Friday, Lamai - on Sunday) walking street turns into a night fair of a wide variety of delicacies. There is so much to choose from here - from soup with 7 types of mushrooms or crocodile kebab to regular rolls or sweet waffles. Everything is prepared right in front of you - the freshest and most delicious.

7.2. Ride elephants

One of the most popular entertainment for tourists in Thailand. You can ride an elephant in Safari Park, coming here on your own or as part of an excursion:

This pleasure is not cheap, prices start from 500 baht for 15 minutes.

7.3. Go to one of the night pubs/clubs

There is simply a sea of nightclubs on Koh Samui! Just get on your bike and ride around the tourist spots. Most of the clubs are located in the area of Chaweng and Lamai, so if you want to live in a party place and visit such establishments more often, then it is better to immediately find yourself accommodation somewhere nearby, in the center of the island’s party life.

Reggae bar on Koh Samui

7.4. Explore the nearest islands

Koh Samui is a large island, but if you still want to go somewhere else, explore other beaches or snorkel, then it is better to go to the nearest islands. The easiest way is to go on an excursion to Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan. The trip will cost from $76 per person.

7.5. Spend a day at a yoga center

You can sign up for a yoga class, but it’s more interesting to spend the whole day at a yoga center and combine yoga classes, a relaxing massage, relaxing in the pool and spa treatments. The price also includes three meals a day. You can view the details here:

What other interesting places on Samui do you know? Share secret information in the comments! Also write about your impressions of the island - what you liked and what you didn’t, where else would you like to go?

By the way, if you are just going to Koh Samui, but have not yet chosen a hotel, then I advise you to look at hotellook search engine site out of 5)

For me, this format of posts is somewhat unusual, and therefore all the more attractive - it’s always interesting to try something new. However, such posts are quite common on foreign blogs. So I started thinking about what places on Koh Samui I would recommend visiting to a person who has never been here. From the height of my three years of experience living on the island, so to speak))

As a lover of delicious food, I simply cannot help but start with the restaurant. And this one is one of my favorites on the island (although it’s not cheap)

This is, of course, the best place to go for dinner. If you book a table in advance by phone, ask for a seat with sea view. From the veranda of the restaurant Dr. Froggs offers mythical views of Chaweng and the Gulf of Thailand at night.

2. Big Buddha Temple + Wat Plai Lem

Well, you'll get here anyway. The Big Buddha Temple is in some way the visiting card of the island. A visit to Big Buddha is included in almost any sightseeing tour. However, it is better to visit Big Buddha and Wat Plai Lem (temple nearby) on your own. When you go up to the big Buddha, be sure to walk around it clockwise, ringing the bells with a special stick and making wishes)) There are a lot of souvenir shops right there, you can bargain in most of them.

3. South of Koh Samui + Koh Tan and Koh Matsum

And this is actually a song. But it’s better to go to the south of the island (Thong Krut beach area) in good weather and in the morning. There, in coastal restaurants, you can for little money (from 1500 - 2000 baht) order a 5-hour walk along the sea to the islands of Tan and Matsum.

During the walk, you can swim to your heart's content, watch fish and have lunch on an almost uninhabited island. You will get a lot of good impressions. By the way, as a piece of advice, before sailing, buy beer or water at a restaurant, since you are unlikely to come across a store until lunchtime.

On Thursday evenings (after 19:00) a kind of “walking street” opens in the Menam area. It’s a must to go here, preferably if you’re hungry. Here you can buy souvenirs, drink all sorts of alcoholic and non-alcoholic delicacies, and eat local Thai food. Here you can also try fried insects)) The street runs past a Chinese temple and they make especially good cocktails in that place))) There are no go-go bars or strip bars here. Everything is purely cultural. I will definitely dedicate a separate post to the hot spots on Koh Samui.

A very interesting place and a good viewpoint, where you are unlikely to get on a tour. The pagoda is located right next to the Q bar near Chaweng. There is no need to pay for entry - just stand and enjoy the magnificent views)

Inexpensive Thai restaurant on Choeng Mon. The owner, Kun Anan, came to Samui from the north of Thailand and therefore some dishes are slightly different from those offered at every step. Nevertheless, everything here is very tasty. If you don’t like spicy food, just tell the waiter about it. Chefs have become adept at preparing Thai dishes so that delicate Europeans do not immediately grab a glass of water or a bowl of rice.

PS. But God forbid you order European dishes there)) they don’t know how to cook them at all)))

An excellent place where all tourists are sure to be taken. But it’s definitely better to go here on your own. You can go down to the sea itself, sit on a pebble and admire the beauty of the Gulf of Thailand. This is a favorite place for Thais for evening picnics.

8. Muay Thai fighting

It’s definitely worth watching real Muay Thai fights. It is very exciting. To see the performances of real fighters, and not some kind of farce, you need to go to Chaweng Stadium. You can tell the taxi driver: “Muay Thai stadium near Reggy Pub.”

It can be especially interesting during a fight between a Thai and a European)) and sometimes fighters from Russia perform - there is someone to cheer for)

9. Ark Bar in Chaweng

And this is for party lovers. Right on the beach is perhaps one of the most famous bars in Chaweng - Ark Bar. You can lie by the sea and drink all sorts of cocktails to choose from. Or dance right here.

I don't have any photos of him))

10. Fool Moon Party

Well, this is all clear. Incendiary open air on the island of Koh Phangan. Dancing under the full moon on the seashore and all that. I have already posted on the blog, you will also find the party schedule there. The main thing is to be careful with all sorts of tasty drugs, because the Koh Phangan police are not sleeping at all)))

In general, there are many beautiful places on Koh Samui and I have listed only some of them. So to speak, my must see list.
