Which is better - the first or second floor in a double-decker Russian Railways car? Double-decker Russian Railways cars. New passenger cars: reviews Location of seats in the compartment of a double-decker train

An interesting photo report about a trip on one of the first flights of double-decker trains. Let's look further at how everything is arranged inside such double-decker train cars and read the comments about such a trip further.

The test drive of the train began on November 2 at 07:50 Moscow time from the first platform of the Kazan station of the capital.

Was I scared? Very scary, because... They write such things that sometimes it’s almost creepy.
And I’m not too young for such tests-)

The carriages are Russian and made at the Tver Carriage Plant.
My ticket is on the second floor and, who knew, suddenly while moving I would fall somewhere with my things...

I went in and was stunned! My first thought was that I was on the wrong train.
For a second it seemed that I was in Europe and on the Paris-Nice route, and not Moscow-Adler.
Since when did they start making such cars in Russia?

On the eve of the Olympic Games, Tver Carriage Works purchased
50 double-decker cars: 38 compartment cars, four each of SVs, compartment staff cars and a dining car.
Three trains were formed from them, which will go to Adler with stops in Ryazan,
Voronezh, Rostov, Krasnodar and Sochi.

A ticket to the Coupe cost me 3,206 rubles. Thanks to the increased number of seats
in the carriage it was possible to reduce the cost of travel in compartment and SV carriages.

And here is the coupe in which I have to travel 25 hours and 19 minutes.
It does not have an overhead luggage rack, but my rather large suitcase fit underneath.

The compartment has individual electrical sockets
for charging a mobile phone or laptop. Two pieces!

The fare includes: bed linen, drinking water
along the route, sanitary and hygiene kits and the press.

The whole train is packed to capacity - there are no empty seats. My mischievous neighbor Vova!-)

The car is made to high European standards using new technologies,
equipment and materials - light, clean, comfortable,

Free hygiene kit

You will be surprised, but the ticket price includes packed rations.
I had to “risk” my health and test it. Survived!
Everything turned out to be edible, although I would have replaced the chicken pate-)

Set contents: waffles, crackers, jam, drinking water, pate, mayonnaise, mustard,
sanitary and hygienic set (paper napkin, knife, fork, boat, salt, pepper, sugar, toothpick), sandwich.

And here is the first stop

The train also includes a restaurant car.
On the second floor there is a dining room for 48-50 visitors

The lower tier houses the kitchen and bar.

Have I tested the restaurant's products for myself?

Of course I tested it. For 350 rubles I ordered a business lunch of salad,
first, second, and drink! And most importantly, he survived again!

Let's take a walk on the train

In double compartments (SV), each seat is equipped with an LCD display for viewing video programs.

There is Wi-Fi on the train, but I admit, its speed leaves much to be desired.

You are not blind - separate waste collection is carried out in each carriage!

All carriages are equipped with three dry closets, which can be used during stops.
I read this statistic from someone. A regular compartment car has 36 seats and 2 toilets.
This turns out to be 1 toilet for 18 passengers. The double-decker carriage has 64 seats and 3 toilets - 1 toilet for 21 passengers.
Allegedly, the toilets will be 15% busier.

I want to object! With three toilets and a full carriage, I never had to wait in line in 25 hours.
There was always one free toilet. The author of the statistics did not take into account that the toilets are open during stops.

Each carriage has a video surveillance system, control system, access control
and security of a passenger train, as well as an air conditioning and heating system,
which provides a comfortable microclimate.

People with disabilities have not been forgotten either.
The train has a special compartment and a wheelchair lift

Landscapes outside the window.

The view is better from the second floor!

The cars have a vibration compensation system,
which will allow passengers not to experience inconvenience when the cars rock.
And photos when moving are clearer)

The sea appeared outside the window - we were approaching Sochi

At each station everyone tries to take a photo as a souvenir with the first double-decker train

Are there any disadvantages? Of course there is, it is the lack of opportunity
regulate the air temperature in a separate compartment
(I saw something similar in Europe in Siemens cars).

Arrived in Adler. Please note the difference in the height of the carriages.

I was met by a dog-)

Very beautiful station

I'll have to say goodbye to the train and tell you about the station

The construction of the station in Adler was carried out in the image and likeness of the popular
worldwide intermodal passenger transport hubs,
where a passenger can not only make a transfer or leave luggage,
but also receive a wide range of additional services - from purchasing the latest press
to hotel service.

The total area of the seven levels of the terminal is almost 30 thousand square meters. m,
capacity exceeds 15 thousand people per hour.

Everything sparkles inside

When will such stations be in Moscow?

The station can accommodate about 2 thousand passengers at a time

The new terminal can serve 56 pairs of long-distance and suburban trains per day,
and on top of that, four Aeroexpress trains can depart and arrive from here every hour.

The station building consists of three parts: parking for 555 cars,
the sea and city parts of the building, as well as the concourse connecting them (the square where several streets converge)

So Yakunin coped with his task on the roads to the Olympics.

Russian Railways double-decker cars were produced for the Japanese high-speed railway network. For the first time such trains in Russia were launched in 2013., their goal was to replace the “reserved seat”.

What is a 2-decker train?

It is a train with wagons where two passenger cabins(on top of each other). Most common in Japan, already found in Russia. The main advantage is speed.

In such models there are no reserved seat carriages - there are only COUPE, NE. An ordinary compartment contains 36 places, but now the new two-story - 64 . But as for SV, instead of 30 there is only due revenge 18 . There are regular compartments here 50 places Each carriage is divided into 2, 4 local small branches. The compartment has double-glazed windows and includes:

  • sleeping places;
  • shelves for small items;
  • mirrors;
  • lamps;
  • sockets;
  • ladders for climbing to higher places.

The CB has an LCD display in front of the seats. The doors are opened using individual magnetic key cards. There are 3 dry closets. All stairs have strong handrails. For a comfortable microclimate there are air conditioning and heating systems.

Pros, cons of the first floor

  1. On all places (shelves) you can charge your phone, there are USB ports and sockets.
  2. Excellent dry closets.
  3. On the ground floor there is a compartment for "limited mobility" people (disabled people). There is a compartment for 2 places.
  4. There is a toilet for disabled people.
  5. There is a bar on the ground floor.
  6. Slot machines with snacks, soda.

Flaws:

  1. The overhead luggage racks have been removed, now you have to think about where hide luggage.
  2. Reduced the distance from the floor to the bottom shelf.
  3. Low ceiling above the top shelf.
  4. Meet even more neighbors in neighboring compartments, now they are not only on the right and left, but now above and below.
  5. Private interruptions in air conditioning.
  6. Long service.

Advantages, disadvantages of the second floor

Advantages:

  1. Available WI-FI.
  2. A display showing the temperature of the toilet.
  3. Free "packed rations": bottle of water, mints, bun, pate, jam, crackers.

You can read what is the difference between funded, insurance and social pensions

Flaws:

  1. Ladder. It will be extremely difficult for elderly people to carry their suitcases in and get up.
  2. Window. To just look out the window, you have to bend over.
  3. This carriage is not designed for particularly large people, as it is quite cramped.
  4. Toilet on the first floor.

Routes of double-decker Russian Railways trains

Go under the routes:

  1. Rostov-on-Don - Adler.
  2. Kislovodsk - Moscow - Kazan.
  3. Moscow, Saint Petersburg.
  4. Moscow - Adler.
  5. Moscow - Voronezh.
  6. Moscow - Samara.
  7. St. Petersburg - Adler.
  8. Moscow - Izhevsk.

Double-decker passenger trains have already gained some popularity in our country. For example, they can be found on the routes "Moscow - Sochi", "Moscow - Kazan", "Moscow - Samara". Last year I traveled in such carriages several times, and today I will compare them in detail with single-decker branded trains. ..

I'll start with the advantages of a double-decker train. Oddly enough, they exist. :-)

Mainly it is the ticket price. Due to the larger capacity of each car, it is lower than that of a similar single-decker train.
For example, let's look at the prices for the Moscow - Kazan train on February 2:

If a ticket in a compartment of a single-decker branded train No. 002 costs 3,672 rubles, then a similar seat in a double-decker train costs only 2,075 rubles, which is comparable to the price of a reserved seat in a single-decker. Those. for the same money, you can travel in a higher class.
A two-story SV is also cheaper than a regular one. There are no reserved seats on double-decker trains.

There are other "advantages". For example, in the compartment of a double-decker carriage there are as many as 2 sockets instead of one, and they are located not under the table, but in more accessible places:

You can also note containers for separate waste collection, which I have not yet seen in single-deck cars:

There is, however, the question of how the garbage is removed from them: with the division preserved or not, and where it is sent in the future - I don’t know. But the very fact that people are taught to sort is already a good thing.

And now about the shortcomings. Unfortunately, there are more of them.
Let's start with the ease of entry/exit. When you have luggage or a baby stroller, this is of no small importance. And here the double-decker train loses to its one-decker counterpart. Even if your ticket is in a compartment on the first floor, when entering the carriage you will have to go down a few steps, the floor level here is lower:

The passage to the second floor looks like this:

Don’t forget that getting out of the carriage at the final station will most likely take longer, simply due to the fact that the capacity of a standard double-decker carriage is almost 2 times higher than that of a similar single-decker: 64 people instead of 36.

Of course, the height of a double-decker car is not 2 times higher than a single-decker, but about 1.5. Due to this, passengers have less space to live. The upper shelves on the first floor look like this:

The severity of the problem is not very clear from the photo, so let me clarify that an adult will not be able to sit on the top bunk! You can only sit there lying down or reclining. And climbing onto such a shelf is also extremely difficult; the likelihood of hitting your head on the ceiling is very high. :-)
In single-deck carriages there are no such problems, even less so.

And, in my opinion, this is the main disadvantage of double-decker cars. I wouldn't wish anyone to get a ticket with a top seat...

How such an outrage could appear in a carriage designed and built in the 21st century is incomprehensible to me. After all, in single-deck cars there is a convenient panel with a full-length folding top, with several convenient compartments:

Why was it necessary to return to these grids from the Soviet past? Mystery!

A few words about toilets. There are 3 of them in a double-decker carriage. Of course, bio, i.e. parking lots are not closed. But by simple arithmetic operations we find that in a single-decker carriage there is 1 toilet per 18 passengers (there are 2 of them), and in a two-decker carriage there is 1 toilet per 21 people. Those. the likelihood that he will be busy in the morning when you go to brush your teeth is higher on a double-decker train.

There is no traditional “titanium” with boiling water in double-decker cars:

Instead, there is a regular office cooler in the conductors' compartment. Who cares, for me this is also a minus - what kind of romance with a cooler is now? :-)

On double-decker trains, the ticket price does not include hot meals, as in many single-decker branded trains. Only small sets available

This is how I saw double-decker carriages. And in this short review I tried to remain as objective as possible.

All other things being equal, in the future I will choose single-decker trains, but if I need to save money, I will probably prefer a double-decker compartment car to a single-decker reserved seat car. Still, in my youth, I “ate up” on a reserved seat for many, many years to come. And it seems that Russian Railways plans to eventually abandon reserved seat carriages altogether - I think this is the right vector of development.

In principle, if you choose the lower seats, then by and large there is nothing criminally unpleasant in double-decker cars. Yes, they lose in nuances, but someone will be able to travel in a compartment instead of a reserved seat for the same money.

P.S. Yes, I almost forgot about one cool and undeniable advantage of a double-decker carriage - children can run in circles there. Of course, this is much more interesting than going back and forth along the corridor on a regular train. :-)

One of the important advantages of a double-decker carriage is that it can accommodate more passengers. There are 64 berths in a two-story compartment carriage (16 compartments), while in a regular carriage there are only 36 (9 compartments). Thanks to this, the cost of travel on a double-decker train is lower than on trains of similar class. The train departs at 10 am from the Kazansky station and covers the distance between Moscow and Adler in 25 hours.

The train includes cars:

  • SV (32 seats)
  • coupe (64 seats)
  • headquarters (50 seats; with space for people with disabilities)
  • dining car

Services for passengers

The carriages consist of 4-seater or 2-seater insulated compartments located on two floors. The equipment of the cars includes air conditioning and heating systems, three dry closets, LED lights, a video surveillance system, a control system, access control and security for the passenger train. Energy is supplied from an electric locomotive, which ensures the train's environmental friendliness.

Each compartment has a table, mirrors, shelves for small items, lamps, and ladders for climbing to the top place. The compartments are equipped with two sockets for connecting electric shavers, mobile and other devices with a power of no more than 100 W. In 2-seater compartments (SV), each seat is equipped with an LCD display for viewing video programs.

The staff car is equipped with satellite communications and navigation equipment (GLONASS).

The fare includes: bed linen, drinking water. The carriages are provided with sanitary and hygienic items of improved quality. Additional services are also offered: sale of tea and confectionery products, printed publications, souvenirs and other goods.

For several years now I have been traveling to St. Petersburg with Sapsan, saving time, which is never enough anyway. On the way there I usually work, on the way back I sober up.

In early February, a double-decker train appeared on the country's most popular railway route. The same as the Moscow-Adler train launched a year ago for the Olympics. I never rode it then, I didn’t make it to the depot on the recent blogger press tour, so I’ll just ride it myself. Travel time is usual, eight hours, overnight. Strange and blurry people nearby - my St. Petersburg friends who came to see off alcoholic from Moscow back to the capital.

1 Three generations of railway equipment in one frame. Suburban train, fast Lastochka and double-decker train.

2 There’s no arguing about design, but it’s not here. Yes, not the handsome Sapsan, the flagship of the railways. This is generally an economic class, a future replacement for reserved seat throughout the country. Ticket prices start from 1,300 rubles.

The carriages were made at the Tver plant, in that city there is generally a strange understanding of the sense of beauty. But we should go, not checkers? It is much more important what kind of carriage is inside, and whether it is crowded there.

3 Railway riddle. In total, sixty-four people fit into the carriage, and on the second floor there are seats from 81 to 112. The conductor then answered my question, but I want to invite you to guess for yourself. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll add an answer later, and if you guess right, you’ll get free PR :)

4 Let's go inside. Externally, it is quite different from the train we are used to.

5 The corridors themselves are exactly the same, of course. Just on two floors.

6 There are stairs on both sides of the carriage. They are not that narrow, by the way, it is not difficult to drag a suitcase.

7 Standard coupe, four-seater. Inside, all compartments of Tver carriages look exactly like this. This is the second floor, and the photo should dispel the myth of cramped conditions and low ceilings on the second floor. In fact, the first one may seem cramped, but even that depends on the size of the person.

8 There are four individual lamps per compartment, but for some reason there are only two sockets. But this is progress, in the last generation there was only one, and before that there were no sockets in the compartment at all.

10 Toilets are concentrated in one part of the carriage. There are three bathrooms here. 25% less than before, because there are two toilets in a regular carriage, and three in a double-decker carriage.

12 Carriage toilets have long ceased to be something indecent; here the toilet is normal, and the tap works as usual, and not like a village washbasin.

13 Opposite the toilets are bins for separate waste collection. There is no such program in the country yet, but someday, probably, we will also pack all waste into different buckets or sort it when throwing it away.

14 A look at an ordinary carriage from the top shelf of the second floor. Views from the window are not the strong point of this route; even in summer the train from St. Petersburg to Moscow runs at such a time that it is dark outside almost the entire way, making it inconvenient to take pictures.

15 Transition between cars. Do you remember how it snowed there back in the day?

16 On the first floor there was a free compartment for people with limited mobility. There are only two places, the bottom shelf is one and a half times wider, there is a place to put the stroller. Pay attention to the ceiling - it’s tighter here, but if you lie on the top shelf, you still won’t bury your nose in the roof.

17 Toilet for disabled people. So far, only one carriage is equipped for the needs of people with disabilities. Unfortunately, in Russia they are not very free to move.

18 Oh, what is this! Tver Carriage Works has fixed its bug in the previous version! Somehow it happened that on some trains there was no way to adjust the volume of sound in the corridors, and only the conductor could turn off the radio or the announcements of the train master. Now anyone can do this.

19 The coolest place is the bar. It's not just coffee that's served here!

20 The dining car is also two-story, and the dining room is on the second floor. Typically, dining cars are not popular on Moscow-St. Petersburg trains. Well, I got on the train, went to bed, and woke up at the station. But here it was packed.

21 The cooks in the kitchen wear stylish uniforms similar to those worn in Japanese restaurants.

22 The menu includes steaks and pork ribs, and just giant burgers! I find this sandwich especially delicious because I'm currently on a diet and can't have it!

23 The kitchen is on the ground floor, and all food is taken up in a special elevator. Ring! The waiter brings the burger to the table!

24 They say that in a few years, just such double-decker trains will be running on most routes in the country, and reserved seat cars will become extinct, as long ago obsolete.
