Opening of the “ice period” in Moscow

With the approach of the New Year holidays, the skating rink season traditionally starts in the capital of our country. According to preliminary information, more than 1,500 indoor and outdoor ice rinks will operate in Moscow from November 2018 to March 2019.

The city authorities are doing everything possible to popularize and develop Moscow skating rinks as the main winter entertainment facilities. To achieve this goal, in 2018-2019 a record number of ice rinks will be prepared and equipped in Moscow, which can be visited absolutely free of charge.

As a rule, the opening dates of such skating rinks directly depend on weather conditions in the region, and the exact calendar of their work can be found on various information and thematic sites.

Artificial ice skating rinks

Playgrounds with artificial turf are very popular among Moscow residents and guests. At their core, these outdoor arenas offer high-quality services, from skate rentals to professional instructors.

The preliminary list of artificial ice rinks that will be available for visiting during the 2018-2019 season is as follows:

  • Red Square (visiting hours: around the clock);

Paid skating rinks in Moscow

The capital's paid ice rinks, which are no less popular among city residents, deserve special attention. The infrastructure of such skating rinks includes car parking, comfortable locker rooms and catering outlets. The ice surface of paid arenas is of quite high quality. Thanks to special treatment, the coating on such sites is characterized by increased strength and retains its structure throughout the entire period of operation of these objects.

The most famous and visited paid skating rinks in Moscow are the arenas located in Gorky Park, Sokolniki, Luzhniki and VDNKh.

The skating rink in Gorky Park is one of the largest in the capital. Its area is divided into four zones: for hockey, figure skating, ice dancing and other ice entertainment. There is a separate skating rink for visitors with children. The cost of entry to the arena ranges from 200 rubles for a one-time visit and up to 2,500 rubles for a subscription. The price of the entrance ticket depends on its category and time of visiting the skating rink.

The youngest ice rink in the capital is the skating rink in Sokolniki. Opened in 2012, it has become one of the most popular and visited in the capital. The coating of this facility is equipped with a special cooling system that maintains a stable ice temperature in any weather. In addition to the ice rink, on the territory of this skating rink there are recreation areas, cafeterias, locker rooms and equipment rental points. On weekdays the ticket price is 300 rubles, on holidays and weekends - 400 rubles. Arena opening hours: from 10:00 to 22:00 Moscow time.

At Luzhniki the ice surface area is 15 square meters. km. Visitors here are provided with the same range of services as in the above arenas. On weekdays the skating rink is open from 11:00, on weekends - from 10:00. Depending on the time and benefits, the price of an entrance ticket to the Luzhniki Arena ranges from 100 to 300 rubles.

The skating rink in VDNKh Park is the largest indoor arena with artificial turf in Russia. The maximum occupancy of the site is 5,000 people. Vacationers are provided with: comfortable locker rooms, equipment rental stations, a medical room, toilets, cafeterias and recreation areas. As in Gorky Park, the area of the VDNKh skating rink is divided into different zones: hockey, skating and a sector for relaxing skating. In addition to systems that provide a stable microclimate, this skating rink is equipped with multimedia installations that create bright lighting on the ice surface. The arena is open from 11:00 to 23:00. On weekends the skating rink opens an hour earlier. The minimum cost of a ticket to the VDNKh arena is 150, the maximum is 600 rubles per person.

For those who prefer indoor skating rinks, they will definitely choose the Morozovo ice complex, which will open the new season in early September 2018. The uniqueness of this arena lies in its entertainment program, which will delight both adults and young visitors. Themed parties and performances by famous DJs are just a small part of the entertainment events that the skating rink administration periodically organizes. During the New Year holidays, the skating rink will be open from 22:00 to 05:30 am.
