Hooray! Finally, the opening dates for the main skating rinks in Moscow for this winter season have been officially announced. And to make it convenient to navigate and keep at hand information about the work of the main skating rinks in Moscow for the 2018-2019 season, we decided to systematize the data on all skating rinks in one article. Closing of the skating rink season in Moscow will take place approximately March 8-10, 2019, depending on the weather in the first month of spring. And before that, 16 Moscow skating rinks will take part in the already traditional free ice skating event. Free rides "Night at the Rink 2019" will take place on February 28 from 19.00 (entrance to the skating rinks with your own skates will be free, skate rental and sharpening will be paid).

Skating rink at VDNKh
Schedule: daily, except Mondays from 10:00 to 23:00 for sessions. On weekends and holidays, skating will take place in 4 sessions, on weekdays - 2 sessions. See the yellow tables below for more details.
Opening hours of the VDNKh skating rink on New Year's Eve and New Year's holidays 2018-2019:
The VDNH skating rink will be open from 17:00 to 3:00 am.
The ticket office will be open until 02:00 am (January 1, 2019).

This year, big changes and innovations await ice skating fans at VDNKh. Firstly, instead of one large skating rink, there will be three skating rinks:
- round skating rink "Rocket",
- rectangular “Flower garden”,
- small children's skating rink.
Skating rink Rocket- located around models of the Vostok rocket, this is the largest of the three skating rinks at VDNKh, with an area of 8.6 thousand square meters and seating 2,400 people.
Skating rink Flower garden– located between the Friendship of Peoples and Stone Flower fountains. The size is designed for 1200 people, and the area of the skating rink is 4.5 thousand square meters.
Children's skating rink– located near the Tsvetnik skating rink. The children's skating rink will be open to very young children who do not know how to skate.

IMPORTANT: On January 1, 2019, the skating rink is closed during the day and evening due to the collapse of the pedestrian bridge onto the ice. The consequences of the collapse are promised to be eliminated by January 2!

At the skating rink in Gorky Park, which this winter season will be called a little pretentiously, like the Factory of Happy People, they promise a lot of music, light and color.

Ticket prices– 250 rubles on weekdays, 350 rubles on weekends.

Skating rink in Tagansky Park
An artificial ice skating rink that has already received its first visitors. Quite a large area at fairly affordable prices. There is rental, a warm wardrobe, in general, everything you need for comfortable skiing.

The skating rink is open daily from 10:00 to 23:00. Break from 15:00 to 17:00.
Ticket prices– 300 rubles on weekdays, 350 rubles on weekends. Children under 6 years old are free.
Skating rink in Ostankino park
Free artificial ice skating rink. Only rental of skates and equipment is provided for money. The skating rink is located right behind the television center, so it’s quite easy to find.
Closing date: in March, there is no information on the official website yet.
The skating rink is open from 12:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and from 11:00 to 22:00.
Ticket prices– 300-350 rubles. Children under 6 years old are free.
Skating rink on Borisov Ponds
The skating rink is located in the Moskvorechye-Saburovo area. The last mention of him on the official website was dated 2016 and nothing has been heard about him since then.
Opening date: unknown.
Ice skating rink in Luzhniki "Yuzhny"
The skating rink in Luzhniki, according to the description from the official website, is somehow “historical” and now they have revived it. Only this happened a couple of years ago, but now there is not a single mention of this skating rink in official sources. However, such global “interruptions” in its work have already happened, so let’s hope for the best.
Opening date: unknown.
Skating rink on Krasnaya Presnya
The skating rink is located in Krasnaya Presnya Park. It is not very large, however, you can ride it now. All the necessary attributes, in the form of rentals and a pavilion for changing clothes, are available.
Closing date: in March, there is no information on the official website yet.
Ticket prices– 200 rubles on weekdays, 300 rubles on weekends. Children under 6 years old are free.
Skating rink in Mitino (in the Landscape Park)
This year the skating rink was completely renovated, now there is artificial ice, the locker room with skate rental, cafe and ticket offices were updated. The skating rink fence was also changed, and it became possible to rent a “Skater’s Assistant” (figurines of penguins, minions, seals, etc.)
The skating rink in Mitytno is open this winter every day, seven days a week, from 11:00 to 22:00. With two technical breaks: from 15:00 to 15:30 and from 18:00 to 18:30.

- on weekdays: adults - 250 rubles, children over 5 years old, students and pensioners - 150 rubles.

As a rule, the opening dates of such skating rinks directly depend on weather conditions in the region, and the exact calendar of their work can be found on various information and thematic sites.
Artificial ice skating rinks

In addition to the listed facilities, it is planned to open four more outdoor skating rinks in the 2018-2019 season: in Berezovaya Roshcha, Vorontsovsky Park, Children’s Landscape Park and Yuzhnoye Butovo Park.
Paid skating rinks in Moscow
The capital's paid ice rinks, which are no less popular among city residents, deserve special attention. The infrastructure of such skating rinks includes car parking, comfortable locker rooms and catering outlets. The ice surface of paid arenas is of quite high quality. Thanks to special treatment, the coating on such sites is characterized by increased strength and retains its structure throughout the entire period of operation of these objects.
The most famous and visited paid skating rinks in Moscow are the arenas located in Gorky Park, Sokolniki, Luzhniki and VDNKh.
The skating rink in Gorky Park is one of the largest in the capital. Its area is divided into four zones: for hockey, figure skating, ice dancing and other ice entertainment. There is a separate skating rink for visitors with children. The cost of entry to the arena ranges from 200 rubles for a one-time visit and up to 2,500 rubles for a subscription. The skating rink in VDNKh Park is the largest indoor arena with artificial turf in Russia. The maximum occupancy of the site is 5,000 people. Vacationers are provided with: comfortable locker rooms, equipment rental stations, a medical room, toilets, cafeterias and recreation areas. As in Gorky Park, the area of the VDNKh skating rink is divided into different zones: hockey, skating and a sector for relaxing skating. The arena is open from 11:00 to 23:00. On weekends the skating rink opens an hour earlier. The minimum cost of a ticket to the VDNKh arena is 150, the maximum is 600 rubles per person.
For those who prefer indoor skating rinks, they will definitely choose the Morozovo ice complex, which will open the new season in early September 2018. The uniqueness of this arena lies in its entertainment program, which will delight both adults and young visitors. Themed parties and performances by famous DJs are just a small part of the entertainment events that the skating rink administration periodically organizes. During the New Year holidays, the skating rink will be open from 22:00 to 05:30 am.
