To hear all the important details, come closer to them. And you will notice, near the arguing people, the corpse of a hunter, pierced by the winding roots of a tree. Pointing to the deceased, Harald tells Sven that this is a punishment from the angry Spirit of the Forest due to the villagers’ violation of hunting traditions. But Sven doesn't think so. He is convinced that it is not the Spirit of the Forest at all, but an ordinary monster that dealt so cruelly with the unfortunate hunters. You will be interested in this mysterious matter, and you will want to offer your services to pacify the forest monster. But, of course, not for free. Residents will react differently to the help offered. Harald will consider you a murderer and will want you to get out of their village as soon as possible. On the contrary, Sven will be extremely interested in hiring you.

Before you go in search of the Spirit of the Forest, carefully examine the remains of a hunter entwined with roots. You will notice that the victim's entrails were pecked out by crows, which indicates a very unusual method of murder. At the same time, the wise Harald will say that with such a cruel death, the angry Forest Spirit punishes cowardly people as a sign of contempt, and for the brave, the so-called noble reprisal is provided. After this, Harald and Sven will continue their argument, and you will no longer be able to get useful information about the Spirit of the Forest from these heroes. Therefore, you yourself must further unravel this mysterious matter and understand what is what, and what was the reason for all these atrocities.

The first thing you should do when starting a task The Witcher 3"Heart of the Forest" is about thoroughly exploring the forest itself. Use your witcher senses for this. It will help find a very important detail - the remains of a dog. Having examined them, you will notice not only unusual thin and very deep cuts, but also traces of the forest monster itself.


Follow the tracks further, and they will lead you to another important piece of evidence - remains with crushed bones on a stone. What you see will lead you to believe that whoever committed this atrocity must have fantastic power.

At the next location, be prepared to meet white wolves. They will attack without hesitation, so keep your sword ready. As soon as you deal with them. Look around. You should come across a stone with marks from huge and sharp claws.

Having studied all the evidence received, Geralt will come to the conclusion that the forest monster that keeps the inhabitants of the village of Ferlund in fear is an ancient and very powerful Leshy. To understand what kind of monster this is and what power it has, look at the bestiary. And only then go in search of forest evil spirits.


Spirit of the Forest: to kill or not?

We have come to the most important thing, namely the choice that you have to make in deciding the fate of the Forest Spirit: kill him or perform a ritual to appease the Leshy. Keep in mind that your choice, whatever it may be, will have consequences for the villagers. And, unfortunately, there is no way to do without victims. The decision on what to do is up to you, but before that it would be right to talk with Harald and Sven again.

Spirit of the Forest consequences: conversation with Harald

In a conversation with the character Harald, you will tell him that the monster that keeps the villagers in fear is the ancient Goblin and you, as an experienced witcher, can deal with him. But Harald will not support Geralt’s idea to kill the Forest Spirit, since, in his opinion, it was his patronage that once made the inhabitants of Ferlund strong warriors. And the Spirit also filled the forests with animals, on which the villagers honed their hunting skills. Harald will offer you, instead of killing, to perform a magical ritual and appease the Spirit of the Forest so that he changes his anger to mercy and again patronizes the villagers. You can immediately choose in favor of Harald’s idea, or you can also talk with Sven and only then make the final choice.


If you listen to Harald and decide to perform a ritual to appease the Spirit of the Forest, then follow to the altar. On the way you will meet wolves. They must be killed, and the hearts of the fallen animals must be taken for the ritual. How will you find yourself near sacred place, put the hearts of wolves on the altar and set them on fire. Crows will flock to this ritual fire. And also during the ritual you will notice Leshy himself.

Once everything is finished, return to old man Harald to receive your reward. He will see a flock of crows - as evidence that the Forest Spirit has calmed down. During the conversation with Harald, Sven and his henchmen will join you. While you were completing the task, the latter had already killed all the village elders, except Harald. And now it’s his turn. You will have a choice: protect the old man and deal with Sven and his gang (then Harald will remain alive), or stay on the sidelines and let the residents of Ferlund resolve their issues themselves. The latter, naturally, will entail the death of the unfortunate old man.

Spirit of the Forest consequences: conversation with Sven

Before you talk to Sven, you will witness his conversation with a girl named Hilda. From this conversation it will become clear that the latter clearly sympathizes with the young village woman. In a conversation with the second character, you should also tell him that you conducted an investigation and found out that the Forest Spirit that is rampant in their lands is the ancient Leshy. And you can deal with him for a reward.

According to the development of this scenario of the quest “Heart of the Forest” in Witch 3, it turns out that the Forest Spirit marked one of the villagers with his sign and as long as the one marked by the monster remains in Ferlund, it is impossible to kill him. Before you go in search of Leshy, you must first find this person and decide his fate: kill or expel him from the village. Use your witcher senses to search. The one marked by the monster will be Hilda, the girl with whom Sven flirted. Once you recognize her, you will have to decide whether she should leave or die. As soon as the choice is made, Hilda will either be killed by Sven’s henchmen, or they will expel her from the village forever.


Having decided Hilda's fate, go meet the forest monster. But keep in mind, before you get to Leshiy, you must first destroy all his totem signs, as well as deal with the wolves and climbing roots that protect the totems of the Forest Spirit. To destroy totem signs, use your sword or the magic sign of Igni.

Once all the totems are destroyed, you will hear a fierce scream. This sound is made by an angry forest monster. Follow the sound and soon you will meet Leshiy face to face. But keep in mind, the monster will not be alone, a pack of wolves will come to his defense.

How to kill the Forest Spirit in The Witcher 3?

In the battle with Goblin, use the magical sign of Igni, as well as oil that fights relics. The battle will not be easy. And not only because the forest monster is very strong, but also because he is helped by dangerous wolves who come running to his call. Before dealing with the monster, it is better to kill all the wolves first. As soon as the last wolf is destroyed, immediately rush to attack Leshy. While waiting for our city to finally be fully decorated, we decided to visit the capital of our homeland, Moscow.
It’s such a pity that we weren’t able to dress up the city for the opening of the project, but I really wanted to look forward to the New Year’s mood for a whole month, especially in such grey, nasty weather, when nothing makes you happy. Well, okay, let’s head to Moscow to get in the New Year’s spirit.

Moscow is also still in the process of preparing for the New Year, but the main sites have already been decorated and are fully operational. The scale of New Year's celebrations in Moscow is, of course, a masterpiece. We decided to draw some kind of parallel, and friends, indeed Ryazan in some ways already resembles the capital of our homeland.

For example, the forest park is decorated with exactly the same trees as on the boulevards of Moscow. And the balls near the Kremlin are very reminiscent of Nikolskaya Street near GUM. By the way, this street attracts a lot of Instagrammers))).

We also have Christmas markets. Their big advantage over Moscow is that you can easily pamper yourself with wonderful New Year's souvenirs from Ryazan. After all, the price is much more affordable than in the capital! As well as cafes and restaurants where you can treat yourself to delicious reasonable prices. Of course, the capital shines and shimmers; it’s hard to resist and remain indifferent to this spectacle. But while we were away, the city finally turned on the illumination of the streets, it was transformed, and also became very beautiful! We invite you to Ryazan!

New Year is the most long-awaited holiday for all people, of any age.
This year, Ryazan residents were especially looking forward to the New Year, because Ryazan was declared the New Year's capital 2020.


The opening of the New Year's capital took place on December 8 with a large procession of many Santa Clauses. The beautiful, bright spectacle was overshadowed by a long wait in the cold for the start, and by the Christmas tree, which the country's main Santa Claus from Veliky Ustyug could not light because they simply did not have time to decorate it.

But Ryazan people are a people with an excellent sense of humor. At first they were indignant about how the tree was not lit, and then the Internet was filled with jokes on this topic.


This even aroused intense interest among tourists in our city - there are practically no empty rooms in the city’s hotels, and almost all restaurants are also booked. As they say, there would be no happiness, but misfortune helped.

Walkthrough of the “Spirit of the Forest” quest in “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”

There are two ways to receive a witcher's order for a forest spirit: take a contract on the notice board in the port of Kaer Trolde or by entering into dialogue with local residents in the village of Ferlund.

This is where the drama unfolds: Harald and Sven argue about a corpse caught in the roots of a tree. Harald claims that the spirit of the forest killed the unfortunate man because the villagers turned away from the old path and no longer respected traditions. Sven is sure that the cause of death was an ordinary monster, which had already killed five hunters.

Naturally, he will offer his services as a witcher, because hunting evil monsters is his craft. Pull out more useful information Harald and Sven will not work out, so you will have to conduct your own investigation.

Where to find traces of the forest spirit on the map in The Witcher 3

First you need to explore the forest using your witcher's senses. At the first point marked on the map, you will find the carcass of a dog with traces of sharp claws. Further along the route you can find a corpse with broken ribs. To kill a person in this way requires enormous force.

At the last point, the witcher will find a stone with scratches from sharp claws. Having compared the evidence, he will come to the conclusion that the suspected monster is an old goblin who has lived for hundreds of years. In order to learn more about him, you need to open the bestiary and find a note about the ancient goblin.

From the note, the witcher learns that the monster chose one of the local residents, marking him with its seal. As long as this person is alive, the goblin will not die either, and after death he will be reborn again. After talking with Sven and Harold again, Geralt will be faced with a choice.

Apparently, the goblin has already planned the next harvest. Sven suggests first finding a person with the mark of a monster and only then acting according to the circumstances. Harold offers to appease the monster by proving that local hunters continue to honor the behests of their ancestors and have not deviated from the old path. It will not be possible to come to an agreement to please everyone at once - you will have to make one of the possible decisions.

How to proceed in the quest “Heart of the Forest” in “The Witcher 3”

It would seem that, right choice- deal with the ancient goblin and put an end to the series of murders. However, not everything is so simple: Elder Harold assures that it is only thanks to the proximity to the spirit that the local forests are so rich in game, which provides food for the entire village, local women are very fertile and always give birth to healthy children, and hunters are considered the best in all of Skellige.

It is unknown what will happen to the residents when they lose such powerful support. Killing the devil or passing the test is a difficult moral choice. However, the player has to do it. Yes, there are no easy solutions in this game.

How to place an offering on the altar in the Witcher 3 mission “Heart of the Forest”

If you decide to follow Harold's advice and appease the ancient goblin, you will have to pass the test of hunting. Unlike the ancestors of the local residents, who hunted animals with a knife and spear, he acts as befits a witcher - he uses steel and witcher signs.

To pass the test, you must kill five white wolves and place their hearts on the altar. Finding the place on the map is not difficult, since there is a road leading there. Although the monsters are strong, it is not difficult to fight with them - in fact, they are ordinary wolves, so in a fight you can use it to be safe from a missed attack, or to stun the animals. Try to stay during the battle so that there is only one wolf in front of you - this will not allow other predators to come in from the flanks.

After making an offering to the altar, you can return to Harold for your reward. He will say that judging by the behavior of the ravens, the goblin accepted the gift, and now everything will be as before. During the dialogue, Sven will suddenly appear accompanied by several friends. They are sure that it is the headman who bears the seal of the devil, so they intend to deal with him.

How to kill the ancient goblin in the quest “Heart of the Forest”

Anti-relic oil, which should be applied to a silver sword, will help in battle. To be on the safe side, you can use it to burn the monster with fire, or alternatively use it to take less damage. Throughout the fight, wolves will come to the aid of the monster. It is better to immediately deal with them as they appear and attack the devil when he is left alone.

The monster has the ability to dissolve in the air and attack from afar using roots. While casting, use rolls to take less damage. If you manage to defeat the monster, on its body you can find the hunting trophy Heart of the Goblin and the mutagen from the Goblin, used in alchemy.

Returning to Sven, as a reward, in addition to money, you will also receive Assassin's Boots. As in the previous case, Sven will decide to deal with Harold, or he may stand up for the old man or not interfere.

How does an ancient goblin decoction work in The Witcher 3?

This unique component can be used to prepare a powerful decoction. You will need the following components (1 piece each):

  • Krasnolyudsky alcohol;
  • Mutagen from goblin;
  • Senzhigron;
  • Mousetail.

All herbs can be bought from an alchemist or collected during travels - you often come across them on Skellige. Krasnolyudsky alcohol is sold in any tavern.

When using a decoction, using witcher signs in battle generates energy. Its use is effective in combat tactics based on combining sword strikes and signs. Like any decoction, reserves are restored during meditation if you have Alkahest in your inventory.

Bug in The Witcher 3 in the mission “Heart of the Forest”

An interesting bug was discovered related to completing the task. Some players do not receive any drops from his body when killing Sven. After wandering around the village for a while, you may find Sven unharmed, minding his own business. He will not enter into dialogue with him, but behaves like an ordinary NPC added for the background.

Consequences of choice in the Witcher 3 mission “Heart of the Forest”

Each option has advantages and disadvantages. After killing the goblin, you will receive a unique decoction at your disposal, which can be a good help in battle, and works especially effectively in combination with medium armor. By performing the ritual, you guarantee the prosperity of the village in the near future.

In any case, it is better to kill Sven. Although defeating such an enemy is not a great achievement for a seasoned monster hunter who can single-handedly deal with an entire Keiran, it is better for the entire village that Harold remains the headman. Sven, despite some charisma, in most cases behaves like an obvious bandit, which sometimes befits a warrior, but never befits a sedate elder. And since the quest is a “double-edged sword,” a failed point is inevitable: it will not be possible to fulfill the conditions of all parties to the conflict.

There are two ways to receive a task:

Taking up the investigation, Geralt, using his witcher's instincts, will conduct a search and discover several very interesting clues - the mutilated corpse of a dog, the body of a previous loser who carelessly poked his head into the forest, as well as a stone on which the monster sharpened its claws. Having compared the evidence, the witcher will come to the conclusion that the suspect is a devil, but not quite an ordinary one. The monster lived in the world for so long that it became unusually powerful.

When studying the notes about the ancient goblin in the bestiary, another interesting fact: The monster chose a helper from among the local residents, marking him with a special blessing. While this person is alive, the goblin also cannot die, and in case of unexpected death he can be reborn.

If you tell Sven about this, he will suggest that you first find a person bearing the mark of the devil, and then act according to the circumstances. Harold will shed light on the current situation. The forests around Ferlund are an inexhaustible source game, local residents healthy, and women are so fertile precisely because of their proximity to such a powerful creature as the ancient goblin. The fact that he became angry is the fault of the villagers themselves, who rejected the old order. The monster can be appeased, but a special ceremony will be required to prove that there are still great hunters in Ferlund.

What happens if you perform a ritual?

It is not difficult to find the altar on the map - there is a road route leading there, and it is located no more than a couple of minutes walk from the village. The test consists of Geralt having to fight five white wolves - the most dangerous predators in the local forests.

Essentially, the pack behaves like ordinary wolves or wild dogs in the game. The difference is that white wolves do more damage and each has more health. The battle tactics are the same as with any group of predators - try to prevent them from entering from the flanks and rear, keeping all individuals in sight, and kill one by one with quick, accurate strikes. From the bodies of killed wolves, hearts should be collected, which will be required for the ritual. The fact that everything went well will be confirmed by a flock of crows that will flock to look at the witcher. You can turn in the quest to Harold.

What happens if you kill a devil

If you decide to kill the spirit of the forest, you will need to find a person. Marked with his seal. As it turns out, this is Hilda, to whom Sven breathes unevenly. You can find a girl in the company of other women not far from the forge. You can do different things: send her into exile or allow Sven’s henchmen to deal with her. Regardless of the decision made, we will not see this character again in the game.

Having ensured against the revival of the devil, you can begin the main part of the task. First you need to destroy several totems that feed the devil with power. They are protected by wild animals and plant roots, but it will not be difficult to deal with them. The easiest way to destroy totems is with the Igni sign.

After the destruction of the last totem, the goblin himself will appear, accompanied by wolves. When animals are killed, new ones will emerge from the forest. It is most effective to attack a goblin when he is left alone, and new wolves have not yet had time to approach. His most dangerous attack is a blow with roots after dissolving in the air. You can avoid significant damage by using the Quen sign or by performing rolls.

Despite the long preparation, the monster itself can hardly be called too strong. If your character's level matches, if the goblin's icon and name are highlighted in green, you can deal with him without much difficulty. In addition to the agreed amount, as a reward, Sven will also give Harold the Robber's Boots - a magical item with resistance to damage from melee weapons, but which does not provide any set bonuses.

Decoction of ancient goblin

After killing the goblin, you can collect a hunting trophy from the body of the goblin: the Heart of the goblin and the mutagen from the ancient goblin - a relict alchemical ingredient that cannot be found anywhere else in the game. If you know the recipe, the witcher will be able to prepare a decoction of the ancient goblin. You will need one share of the following components:

  • The mutagen itself;
  • Krasnolyudsky alcohol;
  • Gination petal;
  • Honeysuckle;
  • Mandrake root.

The effect of using a decoction – the signs used in battle increases the character’s energy. This buff is especially effective in builds that rely more on the use of witcher signs than on melee weapons.

Should Sven be allowed to kill Harold?

Regardless of how the quest is completed, Sven and his assistants will eventually arrive to deal with Harold. Since the witcher will have already received the reward by that time, the result of the conflict will not affect him, but will directly affect all residents of the village of Ferlund. After killing Harold, Sven will take his place and become the village chief. From an ethical point of view, this is not entirely good: it is better for the village to be governed by a sensible old man who has seen life, who honors the customs of his ancestors, than a hot-headed young man who prefers to act impudently and often behaves like a petty criminal.

You can stand up for Harold, but then you will have to kill Sven himself and his friends. There will be no valuable drops from their bodies. Some players experience an interesting bug: there is no bag of loot left in place of Sven’s body, and Sven himself can be found wandering around the village within a few minutes. He will no longer enter into dialogue with the witcher and will behave like an ordinary background NPC, giving out random remarks.
