Local wines will delight connoisseurs not only with their taste, but also with their low price. Thus, a glass of wine in any resort town in Bulgaria costs from 1 euro, while a hot dish starts from 4 euros. You can pay here in euros or dollars, along with local currency, especially at resorts.

There is also an extensive city excursion program - these are popular routes to famous Orthodox cathedrals and temples, as well as mountain tourist destinations. Your excursion program should include cities such as Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, Burgas and Melnik.

The seaside resorts of Bulgaria can be divided into northern and southern - just as the Balkan Mountains divide the sea coast. Resorts are popular on the northern coast Golden Sands, Varna And Albena. On the south coast - Sunny Beach, Sozopol, Burgas, Nessebar, Sinemorets, located on the territory of a national reserve.

The Black Sea resort towns of Bulgaria differ markedly in the level of service, choice of entertainment and hotels from other Black Sea countries. The sea here is always clean and the beaches are well-groomed. It is worth noting that in all resort towns in Bulgaria the main beaches are free for tourists, which explains their enormous popularity and congestion. For one sunbed and umbrella you will have to pay about 10 leva. Summer daytime temperatures at beach resorts are pleasing, about +27-30 degrees, water +23.

Ski resorts in Bulgaria are distinguished by a European level of service and affordable prices. Despite the fact that the cost is much lower than the popular ones, the trails are equipped with everything necessary. Beginner skiers and families with children will have a great time relaxing and having fun, learning to ski and enjoying the fresh mountain air. There are good places for professionals too. The Rila mountain range is the highest in Bulgaria, and Mount Musala reaches a height of 2925 m. In addition to them, in Bulgaria there are also the Rhodope and Pirin massifs.

Since the mountains in Bulgaria are somewhat lower than in Europe, the skiing season here is shorter - December-February, due to the warmer climate. Winter temperatures in the mountains are about 3-11 degrees below zero. The Bulgarian ski resorts of Borovets, Pamporovo, Bansko, and resorts on Mount Vitosha are popular.

Therapeutic resort towns in Bulgaria can be divided into thermal (Sandanski), thalassotherapy (Golden Sands, Pomorie) and climatic (mountain resorts). In addition to special treatment procedures in sanatoriums, here you can simply breathe clean mountain or sea air, take healthy active walks, relieve stress, strengthen your immune system and take care of your beauty. Various programs for improving skin health and losing excess weight will appeal to lovely ladies.

Excursions to resort towns in Bulgaria

Unique cultural monuments protected by UNESCO, as well as natural attractions, are the golden heritage of Bulgaria, the birthplace of Spartacus and Orpheus. Cities you should visit: Nessebar, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv And Sofia. Most of the museums are located in the capital and in Veliko Tarnovo. Interesting for educational tourists will be: library named after. Cyril and Methodius, National Art Gallery, National Historical Museum and Central Mineral Bath in Sofia, Art Gallery in Bugas.

Religious pilgrims and tourists have the opportunity to visit famous monasteries and temples - the rock-hewn Aladzha Monastery, the Rila and Bachkovo monasteries, the Boyana Church near Mount Vitosha and the cave churches of Ivanovo. In Sofia there is the famous ancient Banya Bashi mosque.

In addition, Bulgaria has many natural and archaeological reserves, caves, and Thracian tombs. Valley of Roses, Lakes of Burgas and the Island of St. Anastasia - this list can be continued for a very long time. A holiday in any of the resort towns in Bulgaria will leave an unforgettable experience.

I love Bulgaria very much. Once upon a time, it was with her that my interest in foreign countries and Europe began. Having already visited many other countries, I was finally able to look here. Bulgaria will always remain a special place for me - it is similar to Turkey, Germany, and Russia, and therefore combines many of the advantages of the countries listed above. Bulgaria is also good because there are low prices for hotels, fruits, vegetables, food in restaurants and cafes, trips and excursions. The beaches here are clean and comfortable, suitable for a simple beach holiday for any Russian family.

Bulgaria is a beautiful country, picturesque and similar enough to Russia that you can travel around it without any worries. Bulgaria, of course, is not all interesting for tourists: mostly there are small towns and villages, half-abandoned, on simple plains. But there is also a stunning city - the capital Sofia, which is half like a Russian city, half like a German city and at the same time very authentic. The photo below shows the Golden Sands resort.

And the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria is absolutely breathtaking. There are incredibly beautiful traditional seaside towns, recently restored by the state, large resorts with large hotels and large-format beaches, as well as wild bays where you can come by bus or car to enjoy their pristine beauty.

Beach holiday

Beach holidays in Bulgaria belong to the Black Sea coast. There are small towns with boutique hotels and apartments for rent, large resorts with large chain hotels and entire tourist towns, as well as small villages with picturesque bays for a quiet, secluded holiday. For example, like in Sveti Vlas in the photo below.

Beach holidays in Bulgaria are especially good due to the climate. Usually all the cities and villages on the coast are small, they have clean and pleasant air, there are no traffic jams or increased traffic, or the noise of a big city. Another plus is the spacious sandy beaches for those who are tired of pebbles and who are sensitive to this vacation destination. The brightest and cleanest beaches are in Pomorie, near Burgas. And here is a gorgeous color.

I visited many cities in Bulgaria, traveled all over the country, somewhere I was only two or three days, somewhere for two or even three or four weeks, and I can say with confidence that almost every place could become home for me: It's beautiful, cheap and clean here. I would say that Bulgaria is a wonderful place to relax and live!

Conventionally, in Bulgaria there are four regions for beach holidays, marked on the map with stars of different colors. The North belongs to such resorts as Varna and Golden Sands; these are the most popular resorts where many Russians have been vacationing for many years. From north to south, the list of Bulgarian resorts looks like this:

  • Varna is a large city with large shops and a port (there is also a beach here), and Golden Sands is an artificially created and very neat and beautiful resort village. These two resorts are located on the north coast.
  • The center belongs to, Nessebar and, where in Nessebar you can plunge into Bulgarian culture, in Sunny Beach you can swim, and in Sveti Vlas you can relax from the hustle and bustle surrounded by green hills of wondrous beauty.
  • Burgas is good for those who want to come to a real resort city, and not an artificial one, to walk around the city, streets, shops and parks, which is not the case in most Bulgarian resorts. At the same time, Pomorie is a good place to relax with children, the water here is the cleanest, the entry into the sea is very gentle, simply the best in Bulgaria. is a great little village with a beautiful Old Town, which is very loved by Europeans.
  • And the wild south, where the villages of Sinemorets, Primorsko, Kiten and Ahtopol are located, is the last lower section for those who love a relaxing holiday by the sea in the wilderness, in the provinces, but with a pleasant climate and clean air. Below you will learn more about each region.

Varna and Golden Sands (north)

Varna is a large city with a population of 335 thousand people. There are a lot of places for walking, beautiful green alleys and parks, classical architecture, many shops, restaurants and hotels. The city lives more independently from tourists than other cities in Bulgaria, so it may be of interest to those who want to see real Bulgarian life with their own eyes. This city is perhaps the greenest of all. There are also good large beaches here that are convenient for tourists. The only negative is the presence of a port, which pollutes the surrounding waters. I would advise you to swim in Golden Sands, nearby, and go for a walk - specifically to Varna.

In August in Varna, an ideal vacation can be spent in a hotel for 50-60 USD per day for four in a good room of 40-60 square meters.

Golden Sands is a resort in which there are no local Bulgarian residents at all. Everyone who works here in the service for tourists lives in Varna or at the hotel. Golden Sands is famous for its almost endless beaches, and the city itself, its streets, cafes and restaurants are very beautiful and well-kept.

In Golden Sands you can rent a room for four in a hotel on the first line for 100-200 USD in August and for 50 USD in a regular hotel.

Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Sveti Vlas (center)

Nessebar is a small traditional town on the peninsula, home to 22 thousand people, almost all of whom work in tourism. It is very pleasant to relax in this part of the country in peace and unity with the flavor of coastal Bulgaria. There is an Old Town with narrow streets, and a very large beach in the Sunny Beach area.

In the center of Nessebar you can rent a hotel room for four in August for about 60-100 USD.

Burgas is a very popular resort due to its low prices. In August, a room for four can easily be found for 40-50 USD.

Non-tourist areas

In principle, you can see the whole of Bulgaria if you focus on big cities and not urban villages. All of it is quite colorful, and the cities are very similar to each other, with tiled roofs in the old center and with panel and other low-rise apartment buildings in new areas. True, I advise you not to drive near the borders to Romania, Serbia and Macedonia, but the borders with Greece and Turkey are more friendly.

Where to go from Bulgaria

Many tourists who come to Bulgaria and realize that they are already in Europe are looking for which country else to visit during a 7-14-day trip. This is correct, since two absolutely incredible countries are located south of Bulgaria - and.

So, in Greece I advise you to visit, Kavala and Alexandroupolis, and in Turkey -.

How to get around Bulgaria

Many people choose the train as the best solution for those who do not like to get tired while traveling, but I suggest you modern air-conditioned buses. Traveling in them is quite comfortable, and there is much more privacy in relation to other passengers. Or you can rent a car and drive around the country on your own. Then, even in 14 days you can travel around absolutely the entire coast of Bulgaria, and in 7 days - half, which is also not bad!

And - colorful cities located in the center of the country, between the Black Sea resorts and the capital. The main attraction of Veliko Tarnovo is medieval, and Plovdiv is famous for its ancient cities, which are more than 4000 years old.

Resorts in Bulgaria

The main asset of the country is the Black Sea beach resorts, scattered along the coast from north to south. No less famous are also ski resorts in Bulgaria.

Perhaps the largest and most famous beach resort. First of all, it is famous for its wide sandy beach, which has enough space for everyone. Some consider him to be the best resorts in Bulgaria. The coastline is 100 m wide, equipped with umbrellas and sun loungers, along which numerous entertainment options, restaurants and hotels are scattered.

One of the very first beach holiday destinations in the country. Albena is located next to the large city of Varna, where the airport is located.

Known for its clean and golden sand. A special feature of Sunny Beach is its close location to the Bulgarian resort town of Nessebar, which is one of the central attractions of the entire country.

Ski resort in Bulgaria, located in the region of Sofia and Plovdiv. Bansko is located at an altitude of 930 meters above sea level. The total length of the pistes is 65 km, of which the longest piste is 2600 m. The resort is suitable for both beginners and professionals.

Answering the question “ which resort in Bulgaria to choose?”, we can say that all beach vacation spots have a wide sandy beach equipped with umbrellas and sun loungers. If you are not a hotel guest, then most likely a sun lounger and umbrella will be provided for a fee, about $20. The best season for vacation is from June to September.

My friend is now just thinking about buying a home in Bulgaria. The cheapest apartments are located in Bansko and its outskirts. This is a ski resort in the mountains. Here you can buy a one-room apartment for 10 thousand euros plus mandatory real estate and renovation taxes, since the official websites of realtors do not sell ready-made apartments, but only boxes. The realtors themselves are ready to help you with repairs and paperwork, just know that the price on the website differs significantly from the final price.

The most expensive apartments are in large cities such as Sofia and Sandanski. It was in the latter that we wanted to look for housing. This is a small town in the south of Bulgaria, not far from the places where the great Vanga lived, closer to the border with Greece. There is no smell of the sea here, although Sandanski is considered the warmest settlement in Bulgaria. Subtropics reign here. The town is known as a balneological resort. When you come here, you really understand what real clean air is. For asthmatics this is a real paradise. I was here at the beginning of September 2016. I will say this: I had to get here by car from Sofia. I was advised not to use either the buses or the railway. They explained it simply: the bus only travels when it is full, that is, if you bought a ticket for 14:00 and, besides you, there are 2-3 other people on the bus, you will not go, but will wait for the next flight. But railway transportation is in a very poor condition. Therefore, I searched the Internet for the website of private road carriers (there are a lot of such websites) and agreed in Russian when I would arrive. The service did not disappoint. I was also able to get a discount for a two-way trip. The trip cost me 113 euros for two, round trip. In addition, the driver was waiting for us at the airport with a sign with my name and spoke excellent Russian.

Before this, I negotiated with the realtor via email and Facebook. Home inspections should be free, you don't have to pay. There is not much choice in Sandanski: the apartments are small, about 25-30 m2. The cost is 25 thousand euros plus taxes and repairs, that is, at the end you will pay 40 thousand euros. Pros: silence, clean air, key to the entrance. Of the minuses: in the city they don’t understand either Russian or English, you can only communicate with people associated with real estate in Russian. The realtor is local, but speaks Russian well, but it was difficult with the salespeople in the store and the bank employees. The second disadvantage: lack of work. Pensioners who like to walk in the park and breathe in the pleasant air should go to Sandanski. By the way, there are very tasty pastries and fruits, in the center there is a Billa supermarket. We stayed overnight in a family-type hotel and paid for all amenities (except breakfast) 15 euros for a double room - shower, huge bed, satellite TV, mini-fridge, dressing table, paintings on the walls.

If you want to buy a home for a summer vacation with your family, then stay on the east coast. But remember that there are always a lot of people there in the summer and quite deserted in the winter. That is, living in these places 12 months a year will be very problematic. And it’s unlikely that work will work out. Prices for apartments here are lower than in Sandanski, but higher than in Bansko, about 20 thousand euros plus taxes and repairs.

In Sofia, housing will be even more expensive, up to 100 thousand euros, although it all depends on what you want: maybe a studio will be enough for you. But there is a high probability of finding a job and communicating in English or Russian. There really is no work in small towns, people leave to work in Germany, and those that remain are mainly involved in the tourism sector. So choose what you like. But remember that Bulgarians are very open and friendly.

Alina Pashinskaya

Bulgaria is famous for its various resorts. There are in the country like long promoted, so very young, but small picturesque villages are rapidly conquering their potential tourists. They also go to Bulgaria improve your health, relax both soul and body. The country's seaside resorts attract not only young, but also more mature holidaymakers who remember the hospitable, brotherly Bulgaria.

Nessebar is the oldest city in Europe

In the New part of Pomorie there is the monastery of St. George. We managed to visit not only the territory of the temple, but also its museum, which is located right there, completely free of charge (we still left a donation for the temple, but voluntarily!).

All sorts of festivals for tourists and city residents are often held on the territory of this cinema.

The large and expensive hotel complex is striking in its size (the photo shows only 1/20 of its size).

An interesting idea for decorating a restaurant on the coast of Pomorie.

The city has a lot of greenery and parks. In the hot summer heat this is especially valuable.

Burgas is one of largest cities Bulgaria

- quite attractive and inexpensive resort. There is a large seaport, international airport, railway and bus stations here.

Burgas has beautiful clean beaches, a large seaside park (about 7 km) with, an opera house and several museums. All this attracts many tourists to the city every year.

Despite the fact that the Internet actively promises cheap shopping in Burgas, in fact prices there is very much rather big, Truth good choice. The city itself, although large, is very beautiful.

On the main street of Burgas is the “navel of the city”.

If you don’t know where the opera house is located in the city, you might not even notice it. Outwardly, it looks more like an ordinary building.

Although Burgas is a port city, the coasts are clean and the water is quiet and calm.

In front of the monument to the Soviet soldier right on the main square of Burgas, in the morning you can “refresh yourself” in an unusual fountain.

One of the main attractions of the city is the Burgas seaside park.

Sunny Beach is the most expensive resort in Bulgaria

- one of most popular and famous tourist complexes of the country. A city of non-stop discos, built up with rows of countless hotels. Everything is expensive here. Prices in shops, restaurants, on beaches, by taxi - several times higher than in Pomorie. And at the same time the resort is literally packed with people. The beaches, although clean, can often be seen seaweed on the shore (and in the evening they are thrown back into the water).

The resort was awarded for the environmental benefits of water and sand Blue flag.

On Sunny Beach there is a bus station. In the city you can easily order many excursions.

If you stomp on these planks for a long, long time under the scorching sun, you can go to the beach of Sunny Beach.

The tourists who stayed in this hotel were luckier - they don’t have to go far to the beach.

Cheerful Duck copes well with his role - he invites vacationers to enjoy fast food.

A bridge spans the busy Sunny Beach highway. In it you can walk up to the second floor or take an elevator and cross a dangerous road.

A popular form of entertainment for vacationers on Sunny Beach is taking a souvenir photo with a huge live parrot.

Balchik - city-botanical garden

Balchik - inexpensive, but not a very beautiful resort. We wouldn’t want to spend all 14 days here.

What makes Balchik popular is its fabulously beautiful summer residence of the Romanian queen in him. This is one of the main attractions of all of Bulgaria, especially its coastal region.

The city is located in the north of the country and is the third largest seaport. We've been looking for a long time bus station in Balchik, but it turned out that he not anymore. There is a regular bus stop next to the old and abandoned building. There is a bus schedule on it, which you can take to leave the city.

The main disadvantage, is that get there from Balchik directly to the same Nessebar or Burgas impossible. Necessarily need to change seats in Varna.

This is what the bus station in Balchik looks like now - a completely abandoned building.

Walking the streets of Balchik is not very pleasant. Old buildings surround you everywhere, and it’s hard to hide from the sun, as there is little greenery.

The Queen's residence looks much better from the outside than from the inside.

There is also an Ethnographic Museum in the city, but entrance to it is paid.

From the territory of the botanical garden you can clearly see the entire city of Balchik.

Golden Sands - a hot resort in Bulgaria

Golden Sands is one of the the biggest resorts of the country. Prices Here a little lower than on Sunny Beach, but the weather is usually very hot. The sun is simply incredibly hot, because the mountains do not allow fresh air to get through, so it is often stuffy here.

Great fit for young people and nightlife lovers. This resort will not let you get bored - music and fun do not stop around the clock. But there is one minus here - descent to the beach and entrance to the sea not so flat, like in Sunny Beach or Nessebar due to the mountainous terrain.

Varna - the cultural and historical heritage of Bulgaria

Varna is also popular resort Bulgaria. This is a huge, lively city with a lot of parks, shops and squares. It’s impossible to say that everything here is very cheap, but the prices also can’t be called particularly high.

Varna is an important economic and cultural center with its own airport and well-established ferry service. This the biggest port city of Bulgaria.

Varna has large bus station, from which you can leave in any direction - both within Bulgaria itself and to other countries of the world.

Varna has many unusual and beautiful buildings, especially in the city center.

The Assumption Cathedral of Varna is very beautiful in the evening, when it is illuminated from below by many small lanterns.

The openwork Asparuhov Bridge is the longest bridge in Bulgaria, connecting the two parts of Varna.

Obzor - a young resort village

We were only passing through this town, but it seemed to us cute And inexpensive, even if a little boring. Obzor is developing rapidly and soon promises a luxurious holiday for any category of tourists.

Prices On him much lower than at popular resorts in the country. In the town there is a bus station.

Sea a little warmer than in neighboring Golden Sands. Great for holidays with children. In Obzor there is a children's camp with a water park and an amusement park.

There is a small bus station in Obzor.

Residential buildings and hotels in the village are small but cozy.

Life moves slowly on the streets of Obzor.

The information board stands next to the bus station and anyone can read useful information.

The village, as we noticed, has a lot of greenery, which is a definite plus on hot summer days.
