How to get to Greenwich from the Lukinyh stop. Greenwich, shopping and entertainment center. Royal National Maritime Museum

Shopping and entertainment center "Greenwich" is located in the heart of the city next to the Circus and the Arboretum. This is one of the largest shopping centers in Yekaterinburg. Greenwich can be conditionally divided into two huge parts, which are popularly called old and new Greenwich. Three of the four floors of the giant shopping center are occupied by clothing and shoe stores. Basically, these are standard boutiques, of which there are quite a lot in the city ( Incity, Mango, Austin, Zolla) . In our opinion, there are shops in Greenwich that we would like to pay special attention to: Baon , Naf Naf, Benetton. These stores offer fairly good quality items at average prices. For example, a sweater from Benetton or shirt from Baon p They last for more than a year. Despite the fact that most of the shops in Greenwich are designed for fine floorsIn the whole of humanity, we haven’t forgotten about the stronger sex either. There is, for example, in mall men's clothing boutiqueHenderson. So, it presents clothes that are not just stylish and high-quality, but also made from natural materials. The prices here, of course, can sometimes be a bit steep, but, firstly, these clothes are worth it because they are durable. And secondly, don’t forget about seasonal sales, which, by the way, concern not only the store Henderson, but also all shopping center stores in principle. During global seasonal sales, which occur twice a year, in January-February and July-August, prices drop significantly. Discounts of 70% or more are considered the norm for this period, although even at such times it takes a lot of luck to find the item you like in your size.

There are a couple of features of Greenwich that distinguish it from other shopping centers in the city. Firstly, the presence of 3 huge parking lots (1 underground, 2 above ground). Even at rush hour, you can find a parking space here, which is important given the current saturation and congestion of the roads in Yekaterinburg. Secondly, there is a huge Stockmann store in Greenwich, which is a kind of shopping center within a shopping center. Stockmann located on 3 floors, equipped with its own escalators. In fact, you can find everything you need from food and clothing to souvenirs and trinkets. The price level at Stockmann is above average, but this is natural given the certain exclusivity of the goods presented.

Speaking about a large shopping center, one cannot fail to note the presence on the ground floor of the new Greenwich line of a grocery store - a hypermarket "Hyperbola". You can find almost everything and even more here, although the price level is 20 percent higher than in other stores.

And, of course, I would like to mention the 3rd floor of Greenwich, the entertainment floor. Most of the third floor is occupied cinema Titanic Cinema, represented by ten halls, incl. 3D and 5D. Prices for cinema tickets are especially encouraging on Tuesdays, when the cost of a ticket from morning until evening varies in the range of 70-100 rubles. There are also dining rooms in this place of entertainment, several of them on the 3rd floor. The PIR restaurant court has been a long-liver; it opened along with the opening of Greenwich. Food quality level in RD PIR average, not without a flaw, for the average peasant, which PIR is, the prices are somewhat inflated. RD PIR can be considered more of a fast food cafe. As for restaurants, special attention is drawn to HASH. Oriental cuisine, without any exorbitant refinements, is prepared simply and very tasty. Prices are reasonable for a restaurant.

In general, Greenwich is the place where the day can pass completely unnoticed and positively, and you don’t have to have a very fat wallet, just a good mood and stamina.

You need to go to Greenwich for the whole day. We knew this, because in our plan we allocated the whole of Thursday for it, because on Thursday the Greenwich museums are open until 9 pm. And you can slowly walk around everything and examine it. But the weather decided otherwise, and we had to postpone the walk until Friday.

There are many ways to get to Greenwich, but the best way is by water. Before heading to Westminster Pier, we decided to stop by. Unfortunately, before doing this, it was worth checking whether it was open that day.

Of course, we didn't check. U Westminster Abbey there was a fence around which there were crowds of onlookers. Cabs and cars arrived, from which came gentlemen with garters and ladies in elegant dresses and hats.

They all went inside, and the police made sure that ordinary people did not try to get into the abbey. As it turned out, on this day there was a service of The Most Honorable Order of the Bath.

So my advice is to look at the website of the attraction that interests you. Otherwise, there is a chance you won’t get inside. After watching the procession for a while, we went to the place where the boats depart for Greenwich.

Since we had a ticket, we got the ticket for free. All you had to do was present your cards to ticket office and receive paper tickets.

The famous tea clipper Cutty Sark

Cutty Sark and Visitor Center

We sailed for about an hour, enjoying the views of the city and listening to the guide's comments. The first thing we saw when we landed was the famous clipper ship Cutty Sark.

This ship is a symbol of the British Empire, the time of its great discoveries and being a maritime power. Such clippers could quickly travel to China and back to bring the best tea for the nobles and royal court.

Only a couple of clipper ships have survived to this day, and the Cutty Sark is one of them. She was launched on November 23, 1869 and was used to ship tea from China until 1922. She then served as a training vessel until she was permanently moored off the coast of Greenwich in 1954. And in 197, a museum was opened on it, which, unfortunately, was destroyed by a fire in 2007. The popular attraction was hastily restored and the Cutty Sark Clipper is now open to the public once again.

Naval War College

You can fall in love with Greenwich at first sight. There are reminders everywhere that Greenwich is the maritime heart of London. First we walked past the Royal Maritime College and looked into what turned out to be a rather interesting museum and gift shop.

The entrance to the information center is not in the most conspicuous place, but there are signs everywhere.

After spending about an hour exploring it, we went for a walk around Greenwich. He turned out to be a little different from what I first imagined. In addition to the magnificent snow-white buildings of the maritime museum and hospital, as well as a beautiful park, there are many ordinary buildings with shops and cafes.

I wonder... what it's like to live in this area.

National Maritime Museum Greenwich

And then the beautiful Royal Hospital and the National Maritime Museum appeared ahead.

The Royal Naval Hospital was established in 1694 by Queen Mary. Previously, this place was located Royal Palace, from which only a memory remains in the form of a small building - which became part of the ensemble of the Royal Hospital.

Such famous architects as Christopher Wren and Inigo Jones had a hand in the construction of the famous ensemble of the Naval Hospital. Now the hospital building is used by the University of Greenwich, and the Maritime Museum is located right there, which we so wanted to go to.

National Maritime Museum

The exhibition of this museum includes up to 2 million exhibits related to sea voyages and the history of shipbuilding development. Here you can look at real navigation maps, ancient guns, collections of ship models and various navigation instruments. Paintings by famous artists hang here, unique original books and manuscripts of medieval sailors are presented...

We stayed here for several hours, not regretting a minute that we ended up in this wonderful museum. Read more about a walk through the museum in this article - a walk through the Royal Maritime Museum.

And inside the bottle is a model of Admiral Nelson's ship.

Forward - to the prime meridian!

After we walked around the museum, which turned out to be much larger than I thought, we went to. But before that we looked at the Queens House.

Royal House in London

This mansion is the heart of the Royal Hospital ensemble, as well as a regular art gallery. The inside is very empty, practically no furniture or historical interiors, only paintings on bare walls. But there is a free toilet downstairs.

We're not big fans art galleries, so they left there quickly. But they say that for an additional fee you can drink tea on the balcony, as royals once did.

One way or another, we wanted to visit the Royal Observatory much more than drink tea. It can be seen from any corner of the park, and it is impossible to miss it. I must say that the Observatory is a very interesting place. And not only because of the opportunity to take a photo while being in two hemispheres at the same time.

There is an interesting collection of clocks, various scientific gadgets, navigational instruments, and the hill also offers a simply stunning view of the city.

View of Greenwich Hospital and downtown London.

Here we spent a lot of time just walking around the area and enjoying the beauty of London. Until... we got hungry.

Head to Greenwich Market for some goodies

We went to eat at Greenwich Market, which is located not far from the park. In addition to various stalls where they serve a wide variety of food - from burgers to Indian cuisine, interesting crafts, all sorts of entertaining things and accessories are sold here.
