Ideas for arranging a recreation area at the dacha. Design of a recreation area at the dacha: how to arrange a cozy corner in your garden? Garden lighting options

Friends, today I want to introduce you to the ideas of various recreation areas in the country. The selection includes both budget and high-cost options. In short, today we’ll talk about the most important thing at our dacha! After all, it is precisely for the opportunity to fully relax that we go out of town.

Comfort of a small space

Relaxation corners at your dacha may be small, but at the same time quite comfortable. Sometimes even a table and two chairs placed on the lawn next to the house will create a relaxed atmosphere of relaxation and summer mood. Photo: Dimasik_sh/Shutterstock

Circular patio with dry stone fountain

The original idea of a recreation area can be realized by you if you design a paved area with a so-called dry fountain. Under the stones there is a container for collecting water with a pump. On top there is mesh and stones. You can build a pergola or canopy over the patio. Place chairs and enjoy the murmur of water.

Outdoor room idea

A truly stylish space can be achieved by decorating the patio with synthetic wicker furniture that is not afraid of moisture. Naturally, pillows should be brought under the roof at night. Your guests will appreciate the opportunity to spend a warm evening under open air in the lap of nature. Photo: Artazum/Shutterstock

Original gazebo with mosquito nets

Unfortunately, in many regions in the summer it is simply impossible to be outside due to the abundance of mosquitoes. In this case, a gazebo with mosquito nets installed in the window openings would be a good solution. Fresh air will flow in, and any living creatures will not disturb your rest.

Wooden terrace with pergola

You can build such a wooden terrace for relaxation in your backyard, overlooking the garden. To protect from the sun, you can build a pergola and plant grapes on it.

Relaxation area idea for sloping areas

If your site has a slope, then you can choose either to place the seating area on a hill, or below, where it is cooler. If the first option is more suitable for northern regions, then the idea of placing a patio below is the best solution for southern regions. Photo: imging/Shutterstock

Equipped gazebo pergola

This small gazebo also serves as a pergola for climbing plants. Performing a double function, the building can also be used as a relaxation area during your gardening work.

Open kitchen in the barbecue area

Outdoor patios often require cooking, frying, etc. Therefore, it has now become fashionable to create small kitchens outdoors or under a canopy. The idea is very convenient, because in this case you don’t have to run to the main kitchen every time to bring or cut something. Photo: Ozgur Coskun/Shutterstock

Patio on the country terrace

By making the terrace an extension of your country house you will benefit in the sense that all the necessary premises, including the kitchen, will be in walking distance and you won't have to create another summer kitchen in the garden. Photo: Santiago Cornejo/Shutterstock

Small portable grill

In some cases, a small equipped grill can also serve as a table at the same time. The rest area itself in this case is made on a platform next to a pond. Such solutions are quite accessible in the North-West, where there are an abundance of small lakes.

A place equipped with a barbecue for summer holidays

Once again I would like to note that equipping a stationary grill or barbecue on the patio is a very practical solution. In this case, you will always have the opportunity to immediately start cooking food, without thinking about where and how to place it all. Photo: Dimasik/Shutterstock

Covered gazebo without walls

If the main task is protection from the sun, in an area with a hot climate, then the presence of walls will even interfere, as it will interfere with the free flow of air and natural cooling of the space.

Relaxation corner under an awning

Sometimes even a simple awning stretched over the patio will provide good protection from the sun, especially if you decide to have lunch outdoors on a sunny summer day. Photo: Krista Abel/Shutterstock

High borders of flower beds as a relaxation corner in the country

In some cases, even wide borders of flower beds can serve as a temporary, but quite comfortable corner for relaxation. Having the opportunity to relax somewhere in the depths of your garden is very good idea.

Pergola gazebo as a place to relax

You can create privacy with the help of pergolas, designed in the form of a gazebo, with a terrace or platform. Over the summer, your climbing plants will hide from prying eyes everything that happens inside the building. Photo: abimages/Shutterstock

Relaxation area with brick fireplace

Every man loves fire, a bonfire, and, of course, the company of old friends. By building a round brick fireplace in your dacha, you can invite friends over for the weekend, and, chatting by the fire in the evening, truly feel complete understanding and support.

Outdoor bathroom idea

An original idea for those who love swimming pools and just taking baths. You can place a container for relaxation on the terrace. This could be, for example, a bathtub brought from an apartment. Having filled it with water at a comfortable temperature, you can relax and unwind. Photo: Santiago Cornejo/Shutterstock

Traditional summerhouses

And, of course, let’s not forget about the traditional options for recreation areas in the form of gazebos, various shapes. In the photo we see the hexagonal design of a country gazebo, in which you can gather with a group and have a good time.

Gazebo - canopy with bar counters

An original solution could be to build a canopy gazebo with a grill. Guests are seated along the bar counters on both sides of the structure.

Open porch as a relaxation area

An open porch can also be an excellent place for a summer holiday. At the same time, it is not at all necessary to build something in the garden; if your porch completely suits you, then you can’t think of a better solution. Photo: imging/Shutterstock

Pergola idea for climbing plants

Climbing large-leaved plants, now I mean grapes, can cover a pergola well in one season. Of course, the vine must be mature, otherwise you will need several seasons. Therefore, if you already have a grape bush on your site, I would recommend building a pergola next to the vine.

Waterfall and pond in the recreation area at the dacha

Separately, I would like to say that when building a recreation area, it is recommended to immediately think through the elements of relaxation - a waterfall with a pond or a fountain. Photo: JPL Designs/Shutterstock

Decorative elements in relaxation corners

The presence of bright accents on your patio will create a unique cozy ambiance. Pillows, ottomans, bedspreads and rugs made of synthetics will not deteriorate in one season; they will be just as rich in color and eye-catching. Photo: Photographee/Shutterstock

Reading time ≈ 10 minutes

On the Internet and on the pages of magazines you can find many projects with photos, according to which it is proposed to create a comfortable and functional recreation area on the site of a private house with your own hands. Registration may vary in level of complexity depending on your skills and financial component. A little imagination, time and effort will result in a cozy corner where you will be happy to spend warm evenings with family and friends.

Options for arranging a recreation area

Depending on the purpose, recreation areas can be arranged differently. For example, for active entertainment, late-night get-togethers with friends, or relaxing with children, areas with different designs will be required.

Gazebos and other covered structures

Gazebos and other structures with a canopy will be a reliable protector from bad weather or the scorching sun - you can sit in them for hours on end chatting and drinking tea. If possible, the gazebo should be located in the most picturesque corner of the site.

Gazebo in an open area.

All kinds of additions to the gazebo in the form of curtains and climbing plants will create a more comfortable atmosphere, protect from gusts of wind and hide your vacation from prying eyes.

Open area

When erecting with your own hands open area recreation on the site of a private house can be guided by the most original projects and photo. Eg, unusual solution is to design a corner in the shade of trees using wooden flooring.

An original seating area under the trees.

Another win-win option for an open area is to use homemade furniture from pallets.

Outdoor seating area with homemade furniture.

The inconvenience of such corners is that in bad weather you will not only have to run for shelter, but also take away all the things that could be damaged by the rain. Also under the influence natural factors wooden products will gradually deteriorate.

Children's recreation area

If there are children in the family, you should definitely take care of space for games, active entertainment, and sports. The playground should be located on a flat area, which is partially illuminated by the sun and partially in partial shade, so that it is comfortable to be on it. different time day.

Open children's room playground Location on.

A win-win option is a covered area located at the back of the house: neither rain nor hot sun can interfere active recreation kids. To arrange the site, you can use wooden houses, ladders, ropes, sandboxes, various equipment, and swings.

Closed version of the children's playground.

Mobile rest areas

By mobile rest areas we mean those that can be quickly dismantled or removed from the rest area. Mobile rest areas can be portable or collapsible. Often, metal or wooden structures are used for this purpose.

Mobile relaxation corners are best suited for lovers of novelty and constant rearrangements in the territory of a summer house or private home.

One of the mobile design options is a folding umbrella.

For example, if your site has a nice, flat area with grass, you can place garden furniture directly on it.

Light furniture is easy to rearrange.

BBQ area

A barbecue area is an open or closed area on which a barbecue or grill is located. Here you can prepare meals outdoors.

When locating the barbecue, it is advisable to take into account the wind rose to avoid “smoke” in the playground, gazebo or terrace.

A stationary barbecue must be located on a platform paved with tiles or stones (the grass in this place will simply be trampled), away from trees and a residential building, but close to the gazebo. If the site area is large enough, you can combine a barbecue area with covered area for relax.

Barbecue area combined with an open seating area.

If space is limited, purchasing a folding barbecue would be a great idea. It is quickly assembled and disassembled, stored in a compact, folded form and is very convenient to use on picnics.

Portable barbecue is easy to transport.

Patio

A patio is an enclosed courtyard, most often adjacent to the walls of a house, surrounded by a fence or other buildings. Due to this “closedness”, the patio becomes very secluded, cozy place for meetings with friends and relatives, holding creative evenings, receiving guests.

Classic patio option.

In the classic version, a patio is a platform without a canopy. But for greater convenience, it is still better to equip this corner with a canopy from the sun and rain.

Stages of registration

Decorating a sitting area is a step-by-step process that begins with choosing a location and ends with purchasing and arranging accessories.

Selecting a location

A corner for relaxation should be selected based on the size of the site and the location of other objects on it. You can follow these general rules:

  • The rest area should be located on the side protected from the wind.
  • The recreation area should be conveniently accessible from the house and yard.
  • The terrain should be flat, but with a slight slope to prevent accumulation of precipitation.
  • The site must be protected from the views of neighbors and passers-by.

The recreation corner can be located both in the depths of the site and in the front, front area. If the yard area allows, you can make several zones (for example, a playroom for children, an area with hammocks, a table and a barbecue), united by one stylistic solution. If the parameters of the site are more modest, you need to think about a different functional recreation area that would take into account the wishes of all family members.

Territory zoning

Zoning will allow you to delimit areas with different functions and make the courtyard area more neat, well-groomed and comfortable. To designate different zones in landscape design, the following techniques are used:

Seating area separated by a wooden fence.

Choosing a floor covering

Comfort will largely depend on the type and quality of flooring in the recreation area, so you should approach its choice responsibly.

When choosing a coating, you need to take into account the load, the effects of temperature and precipitation, and the purpose of the recreation area. The coating should be comfortable, easy to maintain, durable and affordable.

The main coverage options for the rest area on the site:

  1. Wooden flooring. The most common, classic covering option for terraces and gazebos. The wood is warm, pleasant when in contact with bare feet, and looks aesthetically pleasing. However, this coating must be protected from direct sunlight; the paint on it will have to be renewed annually and covered for the winter.
  2. Stone. A very reliable, durable, easy-to-maintain natural coating with a high decorative effect. It is worth considering that the stone covering changes the temperature in accordance with the environment, so it will get hot in the sun, and at night it will be cold.
  3. Paving slabs. Modern version coating with which you can implement various design solutions. It is characterized by strength and durability.
  4. Garden parquet. Made from wood waste and polymers. It is durable, strong and decorative. But in the heat, harmful polymers can evaporate. It should also be protected from sunlight.
  5. Rubber coating (crumb rubber). Modern, artificial turf with the highest wear resistance and decorative properties. It is not afraid of ultraviolet radiation, frost, and does not heat up in the sun. Excellent for arranging playgrounds and other recreation areas.
  6. Soft lawn. Such covering, of course, cannot be done throughout the entire recreation area, but small islands of grass will look very organic. It will be nice to have a picnic on them or just relax barefoot.

Bulk materials, such as sand, gravel, expanded clay, are not the best flooring option - they are difficult to clean and uncomfortable for walking.

Selection of furniture and accessories

Since the furniture will be located outdoors, it must meet several criteria: be resistant to sunlight, temperature changes, and precipitation. In addition, it should be comfortable, fit harmoniously into the space and be consistent in style with the main design of the site of a private house.

Garden furniture can be made of plastic, wood, metal, rattan, stone. Each material has its pros and cons, and their costs vary significantly.

A standard set of furniture for a relaxation corner includes:

  • a large table (so that the whole family can comfortably sit at it);
  • sofas and chairs;
  • sun loungers;
  • swing with canopy;
  • various stools, ottomans.

After arranging the furniture, you need to solve the question: how to make the corner cozy and atmospheric? Garden decor and accessories will help you cope with this task. These can be all kinds of ceramic and wooden figurines, flower beds, decorative and functioning sprinklers.

Decorative bicycle with flowers.

Lighting will add the final touch to your relaxation area. It is better to replace the usual central lighting with various garden torches and solar-powered lanterns, and complement everything with garlands that will create a unique atmosphere of comfort and romance in the courtyard.

Lighting for the sitting area.

A comfortable and functional recreation area on the site of a private house, built with your own hands based on inspiring photos, will certainly become a favorite gathering place for all family and friends. Warm memories and joyful moments will be associated with this place.

The proverb “there is time for work, but there is an hour for fun” once had the opposite meaning: “for work there is time, and there is an hour for fun,” that is, work is work, but one must not forget about rest, even in the midst of work in the garden and in the garden. We have repeatedly told how to arrange recreation areas with a fireplace for a cauldron or a Pompeian stove, with a gazebo from your wildest dreams, expressing the individuality and spiritual passions of the owner. And if the size of the plot does not allow you to equip large gazebos and create complex stove complexes, you can make a “quick”, actually mobile recreation area for a summer house or private house.

Canopy and mobile walls

As often happens, a relaxation area in the dacha of the user FORUMHOUSE Denisov appeared naturally. At first, in this place next to the house (5x4m in size) there was an inherited bathtub, covered with a door - it was a table. Then a tent appeared above the table, which stood right on the ground, then the floor was made, then the rest area began to look like in the photographs below. Furniture and a cauldron with a stove were constantly rearranged from place to place in search of the perfect one.

The tent’s awning served for three seasons, and it turned out that “pilaf with rainwater is not a tasty dish.” The need for a permanent canopy arose in full force, and the recreation area had to remain open, but if necessary, protect from possible precipitation. Denisov came up with the idea to build such a cool thing for his project: a side coupe. The sliding wall is made of a polycarbonate sheet that moves along guides. Usually it is located near the wall of the house, and when the need arises, it moves and closes the canopy.

Since the recreation area is located close to the house, the main problem was to protect the canopy from possible snow falling off the roof. For this purpose, it was decided to make snow retainers like these.

When the plot is small, the recreation area is often located close to the house. This way the available space is used more intelligently and economically, and so more possibilities to create at the same time inaccessible to prying eyes and a summer-like open space with a pergola roof, or even without a roof at all. The main thing is that the barbecue or stove does not stand too close to the house, and the walls do not get dirty with smoke and soot.

Recreation area on the site: planning

You can set up a recreation area on any, even the tiniest garden plot. True, when planning it, one must take into account the cardinal directions and prevailing winds.

To equip an ideal resting place in the garden, you need to remember that it must be located with its “back” to the prevailing winds.

This “back,” if possible, should be a blank wall. And since gatherings usually take place in the evenings, you need to think about how to prevent the setting sun from the west from blinding your eyes. And so - even a nook between the house and the garage can be turned into a place for relaxation, quiet evening gatherings and brunches on the weekend. Our design assistants are here: lattice pergolas, vertical flower beds, potted plants, mobile garden furniture, portable mini-barbecues, awnings instead of a stationary roof. Instead of sun loungers and benches, you can use options for frameless garden furniture: you can sunbathe on bean bags by the pool during the day, and sit in them by the fire in the evening.

They are stuffed with foamed polystyrene, which is sold in hardware stores. The main thing is that for garden life such a chair should have two covers, the top one made of fabric with water-repellent impregnation.

Buying standard garden furniture is not the most approved approach to landscaping on our portal: “Everything is kind of faceless, and the prices are not encouraging.” Ordering something unique, or even better, creating this unique thing with your own hands, or, as a last resort, repeating the idea of a well-known manufacturer on a budget - this is FORUMHOUSE-style.

Irrena User FORUMHOUSE

If you take a tree in your hands and your soul sings, then who cares what they sell in megamarkets.

You shouldn’t neglect sales, especially when it comes to a recreation area in a small area.

So, skissa At a sale she bought an extendable garden table with a hole for an umbrella made of eucalyptus (3,000 rubles) and a eucalyptus table and two chairs for 2,000. She believes that even if she had made this furniture from pine with her own hands, it would have cost more.

skissa User FORUMHOUSE

It makes sense to order furniture when you need one hundred percent exclusive, something very unusual, and, accordingly, very expensive.

But this simple set of tables and benches, now sold on every corner, is simply a sin to buy - according to the calculations of the portal’s participants, buying boards, screws, impregnation and protective composition is much cheaper.

Yacht varnish – no the best option for outdoor products, it is better to treat them in 2-3 layers with a protective composition like “pinotex, biotex” and the like.

This product is the son of a FORUMHOUSE member OnlyOn manufactured under his direction and according to his drawing.

OnlyOn User FORUMHOUSE

It’s a pity to put such beauty on damp ground, so my son decided to build a “bed”: four columns of logs, a frame of four bars, and a flooring on top. Painted it with floor paint. It turned out well.

Then it doesn’t want it to rain, so it will roll downhill into construction.

Here's how to take this store-bought table idea further:

Fyi I made it from the material left over from the construction of the gazebo, made it more massive and aged it.

legolas16 developed the idea by adding a wooden canopy-roof to the table with benches.

Store-bought or home-made furniture for small zone rest on the site should be, according to a survey conducted on our portal, comfortable, easy to carry, resistant to rot, durable, strong, easy to clean, “and no curls for ease of repainting.” The design is like this chair.

How to arrange a relaxation area with furniture

After construction at a FORUMHOUSE member Snegoff What remained were pallets conditionally suitable for the production of furniture, from which two armchairs and a double sofa were made - perfect place relaxation at the dacha.

Snegoff User FORUMHOUSE

The pallet was cut in half along the boards into the base and back. For the chairs, another third was sawn across. I cleaned the blanks with a brush to remove dirt, rot and flash. I assembled everything with screws, using an inch board for strapping. The finished chairs and sofa are covered with biotex in two layers.

None of the family members expected that the result would inspire further investment in this project to improve the quality of suburban life. But furniture foam rubber (60 mm) and fabric for covers were purchased. The most expensive item in pillows with removable zippered covers was foam rubber.

Relaxation areas in the garden

The photographs with furniture made from pallets show that the site is paved with old brick, which was also left over from the construction site. This coating will not serve for a very long time, but in the future the site will still be planned and remodeled, but for now “At least they decided to spend the season like decent people.” The turf was removed from the future recreation area at the dacha, since the area has a slope, the area was leveled and a leveling layer of sand was made. The first rows of bricks were laid along the cord. The wide seams are explained by the depressing geometry of the brick: it simply would not fit end-to-end. The seams were covered with gartzovka (a mixture of lime and sand) left over from the finishing work. .

Crazy posted it on my summer cottage “red square made of clay bricks and quartzite paving stones».

Crazy User FORUMHOUSE

The scheme is standard: we dig a hole along the contour, down the film, 30 cm of sand and compact it. Then the curb is covered with cement, and the inside is paved with bricks.

As a result, thanks to this design, a small recreation area on the red platform under an airy canopy under pine trees, on which only a tea table can fit, will create exactly the “relaxing”, serene mood needed after working in the garden.

U nency the area for the table, benches and barbecue (6x3 m) is made from waste logs. The logs for its arrangement were sawn into segments 25 centimeters high. The saw cuts, treated to protect against rotting with used mineral machine oil, were installed on a sand bed and compacted with sand and water. The project was completed in six days practically “with one hand.” A small pit was dug with a small excavator. At the initial stage, this idea caused bewilderment, irony and laughter among everyone, including workers and neighbors. Now everyone liked the site. When lawn grass is planted between the round logs, it will be even better. There are options to fill the gaps with small crushed stone or screenings.

nency User FORUMHOUSE

I don’t claim credit for my creation, but tiles, etc. I'm tired of it in Moscow. Moreover, the plot is forested; urbanizing a piece of forest is also not the best option.

If the construction of something more or less stationary in a recreation area at a summer cottage absolutely seems like a waste of time and money, you can get by with a natural grass covering. The only thing is that the grass should be as resistant to trampling as possible: meadow bluegrass, meadow fescue, etc. are suitable. In the recreation area, the lawn is mowed every two weeks, or even more often.

Another option for a small area is to line it with turf. With regular watering, the grass will take root fairly quickly.

FORUMHOUSE users have long been using FORUMHOUSE as a covering for recreational areas. In addition to strength, the advantage of this material is that it can not be firmly fixed, but removed for the winter or if necessary.

Mobile grill

If the recreation area on a private plot does not have a stationary fireplace, there are many ways out of this situation, especially since a mobile grill on the edge of the garden can bring no less joy than a luxurious stove.

lme1979 I made a grill from a gas cylinder.

lme1979 User FORUMHOUSE

You cut it in half lengthwise with a grinder, weld the four supports, and the grill is ready. And it just fits into the trunk of the car.

Here's how you can improve such a grill (done Pilligrimxxl):

Uncle Vova I made a round country grill with a diameter of 0.5 meters. It turned out “unexpectedly cool, to the surprise of the neighbors.” And just sit by the fire, bake meat and vegetables on the grill, and put a cauldron or frying pan.

Or here’s a good idea - a tandoor made from flower pots. Invented and brought to life sandrovich. How to make it is clear from the photo.
