Video of the Gazprom ski resort in Sochi:

Interesting too

The Gazprom mountain tourism complex in Krasnaya Polyana is rightfully considered one of the most comfortable in Russia. Everything is convenient here. All buses and routes stop here. The lower station is organized logically and conveniently. Pleasant blue slopes begin immediately from the first cable car and the Psekhako Shelter. To get to the rest, you need to transfer to another gondola lift.

How is the ski area organized at Gazprom?

Skiing on Gazprom takes place on several slopes. Everything is done in such a way that several routes start from the upper station of the lift and go down to its lower platform. Roughly speaking, there are four such zones.

There are four blue runs around the “B” lift. There are red and black runs around the two “F” lifts in the central part of the resort. Around the short lift “H” there are two blue slopes. And around the “G” lift there are five red ones.

Therefore, it turns out that there are usually not many people on the routes - they scatter along the branching routes. But then everyone gathers at one lift. And sometimes there are queues. But even on weekends the queues are not very bad.

Blue routes at Gazprom

The most extensive area for skiing on the blue slopes is concentrated around the “B” lift and its runs B1, B2, B3, B4. They all start from the Psekhako Shelter and go down to launch pad one chair lift. B1 is the flattest. B4 is the fastest.

Since all the trails intersect in several places, skiing on them can be very varied, honing your skills on flat, steep, or narrow sections.

There is a spruce forest around the pistes here, and “advanced” beginners dare to go to the outskirts to get a little taste of off-piste skiing.

Blue route “H” in Gazprom

Red routes at Gazprom

The most best zone throughout Krasnaya Polyana, for advanced lovers of skiing on the red slopes, these are the slopes G1, G2, G3, G4 and G5. They all start at the Pikhtovoy Shelter and go down to the chair lift “G”. The G5 route is the longest and starts with a “green” slope - very convenient for acceleration, especially in the morning. The remaining routes G2, G3, G4 and G5 start from the blue slope H and then gradually branch off from it.

All five trails are completely flat, very wide, comfortable and very picturesque. Riding here is a pleasure. But skill is needed and strength is needed. The trails are quite long and require aggressive skiing in places. And towards the bottom, when fatigue increases, you need to turn on additional attention, since the last five runs on the last two flights merge into one, there are a lot of people, and everyone is tired. Many behave inappropriately or simply collapse on hillocks, snowdrifts or icy areas.

There are forest areas and virgin lands around the G routes. Many skiers and snowboarders pluck up their courage and go off the piste. I can’t recommend it, since I don’t practice it myself, but many, apparently, are satisfied.

Red route “G” in Gazprom

Black tracks at Gazprom

The red-black tracks on Gazprom are located in zone F in the central part of the resort. There are several red and black slopes here. They say that when distinguished guests come here, one or more slopes and one of the local ski lifts are blocked from mere mortals. The rest of the time, the slopes and lifts are open to everyone.

I didn’t have time to ride in this zone. A trusted source says that one of the local red runs is very, very steep, while the black one is very comfortable.

Trails for beginners at Gazprom

Complete beginners and students should first practice on green trails. There are two of them. Or three. It depends on how you count :)

A very good route starts from the Pikhtovoy Shelter at the very top of the resort. It is served by the “I” lift.

The longer and gentler slopes “C” and “E” are essentially a stretch between the Psekhako Shelter and the ski area “F”. You can also study here, but there are many transit skiers and snowboarders on these slopes.

All three green slopes are served by rope tows.

Night skiing on Gazprom

Riding on illuminated slopes is possible at Gazprom from 18 to 23 for an additional fee. Only blue routes B1 – B3 are illuminated. The ski area looks very picturesque, especially when there is snow on the Christmas trees.

Ski passes at Gazprom

For early birds, those who want to ski as cheaply as possible, those who do not have the energy for a whole day of skiing, as well as those who leave the resort in the afternoon and would like to ski in the morning, the “Morning” ski pass is suitable. It is valid on all days except the most high season, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

For those who like to sleep, the “Midday” ski pass is suitable. You can ride on it from 12.00 to 16.00.

Full skiing from 9.00 to 16.00 is possible with the “Day” ski pass.

The “Evening” ski pass allows you to ski on illuminated blue slopes in zone “B” from 18.00 to 23.00.

What else to do at Gazprom

In the Gazprom-Laura zone there are laid ski slopes– for both classic and skating styles. To get to the slopes and rent skis, you need to go up to the Psekhako Shelter and walk down a little towards the biathlon stadium.

At the top of zone “F” there is a husky nursery. Sledding goes without saying. But you can just visit them in their enclosure, but also for a fee.

You can also ride a snowmobile at Gazprom. For free. It is used as vehicle from the bottom station of the lift “H” to the top station of the lift “F”.

The new complex with a clear sports purpose will be of interest primarily to good skiers. The vast majority of slopes are marked blue. But one of the longest routes, starting almost at the very top of the ridge, belongs to a higher category of difficulty. In addition, an interesting slope with varied terrain provides opportunities for freeride.

Children and beginners will also enjoy Rosa Khutor. Ski slopes for beginners they are quite long here. This allows you to make an interesting ski trip even with minimal skiing skills. However, the green trails have a number of intersections with more challenging descents. Therefore, it is better for beginners not to travel alone.

You can feel safe and confident in Children's club. There is a convenient modern lift - the “magic carpet”. It resembles a familiar escalator and quickly takes children to the beginning of the slide. A professional instructor teaches children to ride. And at this time, parents have the opportunity to calmly conquer the Lesnaya highway.

Thus, Rosa Khutor is attractive to all categories of tourists.

The sports and tourist complex "Mountain Carousel" is an Olympic facility. A large media village is being built, hotels, shopping and entertainment centers, sports grounds, etc. are being built. The total area of the Krasnaya Polyana ski slopes here will be 135 hectares, and their length will be 70 km. Vacationers are offered 6 green, 8 blue, 16 red and 6 black slopes.

In the 2010-2011 season, the complex included 3 lines of new cable car gondola type, serving several variants of slopes for well-prepared skiers. Since 2013, a lift to the foot of the Black Pyramid has been operating. A small slope where beginners can practice is located in the area of the second stage.

Complex Mountain Carousel attractive because it is located closest to the residential sector, in the village of Esto-Sadok, within walking distance of some hotels. However, the snow in this part of the ridge melts the fastest. Thus, most often only the topmost route, marked with a red difficulty level, is in good, skiable condition.

2. Control your speed.
It is no coincidence that there are car and ski tracks. On the slope, as on the road, most collisions are caused by speeding. Namely, because of exceeding the threshold beyond which a skier or snowboarder can control this speed. Before you start moving and during the process, correctly assess your abilities, terrain features, weather and the density of loading of the slope by skiers. Reducing speed is necessary in crowded places, in narrow sections of the route, in poor visibility, on the edge of a steep slope, near ski lifts and at the end of the route.

3. Choose a route.
Just like on a highway, whoever is driving ahead has priority. Therefore, the skier or snowboarder behind must choose a trajectory that does not create any danger for those going down the slope. To do this, it is enough to maintain the distance necessary to perform any maneuvers, including a possible fall.

4. Overtaking.
When overtaking, it is also necessary to maintain a distance and maneuver at a distance sufficient for safety. The distance is necessary not only for overtaking moving skiers but also for avoiding vacationers.

5. Enter the highway, start driving and move up the slope.
Before you start moving and go onto the slope, look up and down the slope and correctly assess the situation, as well as your position relative to other skiers. Carving skis and snowboards allow you to move up the slope when turning, against general movement. Snowboarders and skiers should be especially careful when performing such maneuvers.

6. Stopping on the highway.
Stopping on narrow or poorly visible sections of the route is prohibited (except in extreme situations). After a fall, it is necessary to leave this place as quickly as possible (if possible), without leaving anything on the slope. You can rest or walk only at the edge of the road.

7. Ascent or descent on foot.
Do not create obstacles for those riding. Walk only along the edge of the road. In addition, shoe prints spoil the slope and can cause traumatic situations.

8. Observe the route markings.
Before going out on the slope, check out the trail map. Do not go on slopes that do not correspond to your level of training. Do not ignore prohibitory signs or ride on closed trails.

9. Providing assistance in case of accidents.
In the event of an accident, riders are obliged to provide any possible assistance to the victims. For all athletes, one of the most important principles is the principle of cooperation and assistance in case of accidents, regardless of any legal obligations. In the event of an accident, it is necessary to provide first aid to the victim medical care, notify the appropriate services and somehow mark the scene of the incident to warn other riders.

10. Identification of participants in the incident.
Every skier or snowboarder who witnesses or participates in an incident is required to exchange contact information with other witnesses or participants. Only complete and accurate testimony from witnesses will help restore the picture of the incident. Rescue reports and photographs are of significant value in determining the extent of responsibility.
