Sunny Beach

Most popular resort In Bulgaria along with Golden Sands. However, this is budget place for family holidays. There are many hotels of 2*-3* level. The main life hack of this place is not to settle in the center of the resort if you don’t want to join the company of British students and feel the “atmosphere” of frenzy and revelry.

Resort Pomorie

There is no such luxurious greenery as in St. Constantine and Helena, but the housing is a little cheaper and the sea is warmer due to the fact that the resort is located further south. Besides Pomoriebalneological resort, even Israelis come here because of the cheap prices. They say that the local mud is no worse than its “sister” from the Dead Sea.

Nearby are Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Burgas.

Find hotels or apartments in the resort of Pomorie

Hotels are worth looking for from the outside Grand Hotel Pomorie(as a guide). On the other hand, where it is hotel St. George– rocky beaches, it won’t be very convenient with children.

Resort Sozopol

– a calmer, intimate town for family holidays with a beautiful ancient historical part. A good beach of great length - from the “cultured” one closer to the center to the wild nudist one in the remote part. There is also a large selection of catering - from shawarma to decent establishments on the embankment.

In the vicinity of Sozopol, for those who like privacy, I can recommend a couple of hotels.

ARKUTINO RESORT 4*- a cozy and very quiet hotel near , suitable for families with children, no discos, but organic products from the farm and a fresh Black Sea breeze. The hotel is located on a hill - you will have to go up and down often. Walking to the sea along a wooden boardwalk through the Dunes - this has its own romance.

LAGUNA BEACH RESORT & SPA 4*- on the other hand, it is located on the coast and is suitable for families for a long holiday. Apartments of varying sizes and prices, there are three-storey villas with kitchens and terraces, some are surprising in scale and luxury for Bulgaria.

General description of Bulgarian beaches

All city beaches in Bulgaria have lifeguards and umbrellas and sun loungers are available for rent. Information about air and water temperatures is posted at the rescue towers every day. Also, a flag of a certain color is hung on the lifeguard towers - green (swimming is allowed), yellow (swimming is allowed) and red ( big waves, swimming on mattresses and far from the shore is prohibited, entry into the water is allowed in certain places). The beaches in Bulgaria are very clean and are regularly cleaned and free of algae. The beaches here are much cleaner than in Spain or Montenegro.

For the most part, the beaches of Sunny Beach and southern Bulgaria are sandy, with a gentle and very comfortable entry into the water along soft sand. We saw entry into the water over rocks only, perhaps, on a wild beach near the resort of St. Vlas. The water in the Black Sea is unsalted, although in the summer of 2017 it became more salty due to microorganisms that arrived here. Which, by the way, painted the Black Sea an amazing turquoise color for these places.

City beaches offer a lot of entertainment: banana and bun rides, windsurfing, wakeboarding, catamaran riding and water skiing. Unlike Asia, rental points are located in strictly designated areas. In practice, this means that people swimming will not be disturbed by jet skis and other equipment. The sea in Bulgaria warms up well after the second half of June - up to +23 +24. At the end of May and beginning of June, the sea is still invigorating and cold with a water temperature of about +21. Smoking on the beaches is not prohibited, as is drinking alcohol. The cost of renting an umbrella or sun lounger on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria is 5-6 leva (2.5-3 Euro) for the whole day. That is, for two sun loungers and an umbrella you will pay 15-18 leva (7.5-9 Euros) for 1 day. In addition to city beaches, Bulgaria also has wild beaches. However, there is no infrastructure on such beaches, and nudists often relax on them.

Unlike Italian resorts, in Bulgaria you can sunbathe around areas with umbrellas and sun loungers, and no one will kick you out of here. All beaches have bars where you can buy beer, soft drinks, ice cream, and a small snack such as a kebab or sandwich. There are no annoying sellers of all sorts of nonsense walking along the beaches, just like in Thailand, but occasionally you can meet sellers of sweet rolls (by the way, very, very tasty!) and corn.

You can get to the resort towns described in the article by ordering a convenient taxi transfer from Burgas Airport. I indicated the distance to the resorts from Burgas airport in the sign below.

Now let’s move on to a more detailed description of the most popular beaches in Sunny Beach and southern Bulgaria. To begin with, I will show you a map of resorts in Bulgaria so that you can clearly see where the beaches I describe are located. When describing the beaches, I will go from north to south.

Elenite

Elenite is a fenced complex of luxury hotels with private beaches; entry to the complex is through a checkpoint with a security guard. The most famous hotels of the resort are Robinson Beach and Elenite Spa Villas with all-inclusive meals, private beaches, water slides. Elenite is rightfully considered one of the most romantic corners on the Black Sea coast. In addition to hotels, there are luxury villas. Elenite is suitable for a quiet and measured holiday in Honeymoon. Most famous beach resort - Robinson Beach is about 700 meters long, the width of the beach is small - about 30-40 meters.

Saint Vlas

The beach in Sveti Vlas is large and divided into several small beaches. Here you can practice water sports or take a yacht ride. The entrance to the sea is very convenient. The sides of the beach are framed by rocks. Only the beaches with hotels in Sveti Vlas are equipped with umbrellas and sun loungers.

The resort is located at a distance from chain supermarkets, which is extremely inconvenient if you want to stay in apartments and eat on your own. There are only small private shops and grocery stores here. Sveti Vlas is one of the most elite holiday destinations in Bulgaria. All the infrastructure is here beautiful life: yacht club, casino, water park, nightclubs. In terms of its grooming, Saint Vlas is not inferior expensive resorts Spain. The most popular resort hotels are the all-inclusive Moonlight Hotel and the Saint George Palace Hotel. I highly recommend the second hotel “St. George” for accommodation - we stayed at a hotel of the same chain and were very pleased with the service.

sunny Beach

Total length beach - 10 km. The beach is notable for its long and gradual entry into the water, which is well suited for children. The water on the beach is cloudy with sand. The city beach of Sunny Beach is huge and quite well equipped: there are sun loungers and umbrellas, cafes and bars. Sunny Beach beach awarded famous Blue flag, which indicates the level of its purity.

The closest resort to Sunny Beach is . I didn’t really like the fact that it was too noisy on the beach in Sunny Beach, because... The British and Germans like to hang out here; entertainment on the beach includes beach volleyball, water sports and banana and bun rides. Sunny Beach is a very busy resort, and it’s definitely not worth going here for a quiet and measured family vacation. Sunny Beach is perfect for a holiday with friends, a hen or stag party, as well as for parties. Hotels on the first line in the Sunny Beach resort: Hotel Dune, DIT Evrika Beach Club Hotel.

Ravda

Ravda is a rapidly developing resort with lower prices than in Sunny Beach. Ravda has a water park, an amusement park, souvenir shops, cafes and traditional restaurants - mehana. There are no cultural entertainments in Ravda - there are only beach and family holidays. Tourists who lack entertainment in Ravda head in the evenings to Nessebar, which is just 15 minutes away by bus.

There are two beaches in Ravda: Akademika beach and South Beach. Akademika Beach is a narrow strip of sandy beach stretched along the Black Sea. This is a long city beach with all the infrastructure: umbrellas, sun loungers, cafes serving Bulgarian and European cuisine. The water on the beach is clear, entry into the water is convenient.

The southern beach is wider and longer. It is located very close to large hotel complexes on the first line from the sea. To get to the beach you have to go down the mountain. A paved path lined with lush greenery leads to South Beach. Ravda was appreciated by many Russian stars who bought real estate here: Philip Kirkorov, Lolita, Boris Moiseev, Nadezhda Babkina. They bought themselves an apartment in the Emerald Beach Resort & Spa complex, which is located on the South Beach of Ravda.

Pomorie

Well equipped resort for beach holiday, where our compatriots prefer to relax. The resort has North and South beaches. The total length of the resort beaches is 2 km. The central city beach of Pomorie is the beach at large hotel Grand Hotel Pomorie. The resort of Pomorie has both equipped beaches with sun loungers and umbrellas, and wild beaches without infrastructure. There are a lot of people on the equipped beaches during the season

The most modern beach of the resort is South Beach. The water on the South Beach is warm and clear, the sand is golden, the beach is equipped with special wooden platforms for easy access to the beach, nice sunbathing tents are available for rent at a price of 40-50 leva per day. It is convenient for families with children to relax here. The beach offers plenty water attractions. There are lifeguards on the beach. For solitude, you should go to the beach, located between the cities of Aheloy and Pomorie. By the way, in Pomorie there is a famous therapeutic mud and salt water Pomorie Lake.

The most beautiful and well-equipped 5-star hotel near South Beach is Sunset Resort. This the whole city with its own swimming pools, cafes and entertainment.

Burgas

Chernomorets

Another Bulgarian resort for a relaxing holiday with your family, which is absolutely not suitable for active youth. is located on a peninsula on the shore of a picturesque bay with a curved coastline. Here the tourist will find all the necessary infrastructure: grocery stores, restaurants, car rental. They are accommodated here mainly in guest houses and small hotels. For the most part, buildings in Chernomorets are low-rise, with houses with 1-2 floors predominating. A good option for comfortable accommodation in Chernomorets are the 3-star hotels Atia Resort and Hotel Debi, from where you can get to the beach in just 4-5 minutes of a leisurely walk. If you are going on vacation with a large group, then it is more profitable to rent an apartment on Airbnb for 4 people.

Chernomorets has two amusement parks, water activities, cafes and restaurants on the beach, Botanical Garden. The beaches of Chernomorets are very clean, located in cozy bays, so there are practically no waves here. The beaches are long (about 1.5-2 km), but quite narrow. Chernomorets is located a 10-minute drive from Sozopol, where you can go on an excursion after a long day at the beach. Water activities in the city include sailing on a yacht, boats and catamarans, banana boat rides, and fishing.

Sozopol

Tourists who want privacy head to the golden sandy Harmanite beach in the southern part of Sozopol. This beach is much wider and longer than Central Beach and offers many water activities, as well as beach soccer and volleyball courts. Goldfish Beach is located north of Sozopol and is extremely popular among Bulgarians. There is a surf school here and all the necessary beach infrastructure. A pleasure boat runs between Sozopol and Nessebar, but be careful - many people get seasick on it.

Dunes

Far from the bustle of the city, the Duni (or Duni) resort is located with a huge beach line. The dunes are located away from the main road from Burgas, so nothing will disturb your holiday here. The beaches of the Dunes resort have been awarded the blue flag. In total, there are 5 luxury hotels on site, the most popular of which is the Duni Marina Royal Palace Hotel complex on the first line by the sea with its own beach. The resort got its name thanks to the sand dunes that stretch along the coastline for a distance of more than 4 km, the width is no more than 100 meters.

The Dunes Resort is surrounded by pine forests on the territory of a nature reserve. Local air has a healing effect. Sea in the Dunes with crystal clear water. The beaches outside the hotel complex are wild and unequipped; campers from different countries in tents, as well as nudists. Activities are common on the beaches of the Dunes resort beach views sports, windsurfing.

Primorsko

If you are looking for privacy from the crowds of tourists, go to Perla, a beach near the former residence of Todor Zhivkov. The beach here is located at cozy bay. The water here is very warm, and you can rent a sunbathing tent for the whole group for 30 leva (15 Euro) per day. The entry into the water on Perl is very gentle and long, which is convenient for children. Perla can be reached on foot from North Beach, but be aware that this will take you through a nudist strip.

The southern beach of Primorsko is more well-equipped: there are changing cabins, showers, and restaurants nearby. In addition, there are often food and drink vendors walking along the beach, which is very convenient. Umbrellas and sun loungers are rented here for 6 leva per day - a little more expensive than on the North Beach. South Beach is located very close to the main shopping street of Primorsko - st. March, 3rd. There are many private aparthotels and guesthouses near South Beach.

Kiten

Bulgaria is famous for its wonderful resorts located on the golden sands of the Black Sea coast. There are many popular beaches that are known to everyone, these include Kabakum Beach, located in Varna, as well as Cocoa Beach in Sunny Beach and many others. But not far from famous resorts You can find secluded wild beaches with clear sea water and golden sand. These beaches lack infrastructure, but there is untouched nature, where you can enjoy peace and quiet.

Some wild beaches is located near the small resort village of Sinemorets - this southern point Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. Not far from these beaches are located mountain ranges with oak forests. There are several beaches in these places. The northern beach is considered one of the most beautiful and clean beaches. It is located in a national reserve where the Veleka River flows into the sea. This beach provides a unique opportunity to swim in both river and sea water, since Veleka forms a lake in front of it and the beach is washed by the sea on one side and a mountain river on the other. There are often storms here, which gives a comfortable coolness during active sunshine. There are no traces of civilization on the beach in the form of umbrellas and sun loungers.

Kabakum Beach

Another beach is located next to Sinemorets - Silistar. It has a wide coastline with fine sand and clear water. This beach is good for families with children. The beach is guarded, so you can enjoy some of the benefits of civilization here, for example, rent a sun lounger and an umbrella. There is also a cafe and a lifeguard service on the beach. It is interesting to explore the surroundings of the beach, the nearest rocks, finding a rock with the profile of a person. There is an opportunity to go fishing.

There is a bay on the Black Sea coast, which is formed by a rocky cape and forest. In this bay there is a central beach - “Butamyata Bay”. It stretches for 1.5 kilometers. A river flows through the beach with white delicate sand. The beach is not completely wild, as you can go for a massage here; there are many eateries and cafes on the coast. Vacationers can rent sun loungers and umbrellas.

In the territory national park Strandja is the village of Lipite, which is a real natural paradise. The beach offers a magnificent view of the mouth of the Veleka River, which flows into the Black Sea. There are many small beaches here, but the most beautiful and impressive is the Lipite beach. The surrounding area is mostly rocky, surrounded by dense forest. Here you can enjoy untouched nature. Since the beach is located in a protected area national reserve, you can only get to it on foot. You can leave your car in the parking lot located next to central beach resort.

The nature reserve, which includes the Kamchia River and dense forest, is home to the longest beach. It starts from the “Paradise” and “Romantic” campsites, and ends at Cape “Cherni Nos”. Some types of vegetation that grow here are found only in this area. You can take a boat down the river, which flows through green tunnels formed by vines and dense vegetation.

On the road from Varna to Burgas, near the fork in the villages of Byala and Goritsa, there is the Karadere beach, to which there is no paved road, as there is no infrastructure. Near the Karadere beach there are the beaches of the resorts Shkorpilovtsi and Byala.

A popular beach among young people and nudists is Irakli Beach, located on the territory of the reserve of the same name. Here there is untouched nature with beautiful vegetation, some species of which are listed in the Red Book of Bulgaria.

In the park of the Ropotamo Nature Reserve there are such unique natural objects as the Ropotamo River estuary and the Arkutino swamp; in addition, there are dense forests in which various species of animals live. Transport is not allowed in the park; you can only get to the beach on foot, leaving your car outside the reserve. It will take 20 minutes and you will find yourself on a clean and beautiful beach, where you can swim in the warm, gentle sea.

Ropotamo

In general, there is a choice in Bulgaria comfortable rest in upscale hotels and relaxing on a wild beach. The choice depends on the financial capabilities and desires of the tourist. Relaxing on a wild beach, you can get a boost of energy from unity with nature, which you will never get on beaches crowded with people.

Bulgaria is the most popular country among Russian buyers of foreign real estate. In 2013, more than 10 thousand of our compatriots purchased local real estate. The most popular apartments are on the country's Black Sea coast.

“Bulgaria’s seaside resorts are in demand for a variety of segments of the population. Young people prefer large, noisy resorts; they have almost no opportunity to buy housing. Young families as well as older people like quiet and quiet places, but some of them prefer cities due to accessibility medical care, better infrastructure and the ability to rent out housing all year round. Some people prefer nice apartments on big resorts(in gated complexes) for long stay or to rent out housing,” says Todor Stoyanov, financial director of Prime Property BG.

Sveti Vlas: a quiet resort for families

Sveti Vlas is a coastal town located 40 km from international airport Burgas and 6 km from Sunny Beach. “Sveti Vlas is an ideal place for a quiet, measured holiday with the whole family. It feels like home, the complexes are cozy, and accommodation is inexpensive. The only drawback is that there is little greenery at the resort,” says Alexander D., who vacationed in Sveti Vlas in the summer of 2013 with his wife and two children.

This area has a special microclimate: the air is enriched with iodine ions, a fresh breeze blows from the sea, the Stara Planina Mountains and the surrounding hills keep it cool during summer heat. There are sunny days from May to September or a total of 70 days. Due to the combination of a mild climate and healthy air, many come to Sveti Vlas to treat their lungs.

All three beaches with a length of 1.5 km (Camping, Marina and Central) are marked with the Blue Flag. This award is given for environmental friendliness. The beaches are sandy, wide, free (money is taken only for sun loungers and umbrellas), with small bays convenient for swimming.

The tourist infrastructure of the resort is actively developing. Now there is a marina, shops and restaurants. Most streets are under video surveillance, so crime here is almost reduced to zero. Attractions include the Church of St. Andrew and the Temple of Athanasius the Great.

Some Bulgarian government officials have acquired houses in this town. Among the available real estate offers are apartments in hotel complexes, apartments and villas. Housing in Sveti Vlas is sold at prices from 22.6 thousand to 376 thousand euros. Apartment rental costs 25–55 euros per day.

Kranevo: an ideal holiday for children

“In the summer of 2012, we sent our children to the AquaLife water sports camp in the village of Kranevo. From June to July we rented a house there to live near our children. We enjoyed our vacation so much that in the future we plan to vacation only in Kranevo,” says Olga K.

From Kranevo to Varna Airport is about 30 minutes drive. Buses and minibuses They also regularly go to Albena, Balchik, Dobrich and Golden Sands. All these resorts are nearby.

The beach in Kranevo is clean, with golden sand, 6 km long and up to 100 m wide. There are paid and free recreation areas. The seabed is flat, without dangerous currents or depth changes, so children can swim here without fear. Some tourists believe that Kranevo beach is the most convenient on the coast. The village also has mineral springs, which are used to treat various diseases.

Kranevo is a village, but it has all the infrastructure necessary for recreation: bars, discos, restaurants serving Bulgarian, Indian and Chinese cuisine, shops, hairdressers, a market and even children's attractions. On the beach you can rent catamarans, jet skis and windsurfing equipment. And yet Kranevo is not famous nightlife, but a measured rest, so young people, accustomed to noisy parties, may find it boring here.

The resort has both hotels and private sector. Prices for apartments in Kranevo range from 37 thousand to 80 thousand euros, for houses - from 62 thousand to 337 thousand.

Review: beautiful nature and warm sea

There are several beaches - sandy, pebble, concrete; one of them is marked with the Blue Flag. The sea is clean, warms up well, and the slope to the sea is gentle. However, not everyone likes the beaches in Pomorie: the sand has a gray-brown color due to its high iron content, there are rocks in some places, and sometimes in the morning the current carries algae.

In the surrounding area there are salt lakes, the healing properties of the water in which were known to the Byzantines and Thracians. It was used to treat wounds, rheumatism and skin diseases. Since Pomorie is located at zero elevation above sea level, the area is swampy, and the mud also has healing properties.

The city is located in the middle of the plains, so you won’t see the greenery of the forests here. But there are many vineyards here. Pomorie is famous for the fact that on its outskirts there is a wine and cognac factory called Black Sea Gold. It is believed that cognac made from grapes grown on salty soil is of special quality.
