Mineral waters which region. Rest and treatment in the KMS: tourist information and tips. What attracts tourists to the Caucasian Mineral Waters region?

Caucasian Mineral Waters is a resort area located in the very center of the North Caucasus, on the northern slopes of the Main Caucasus Range, just 90 km from Elbrus and almost the same distance between the Black and Caspian Seas. He takes southern part Stavropol Territory of Russia, being approximately at the same latitude with the resorts of the Cote d'Azur of France and the Italian Adriatic. Its area is about 2/3 the area of the island of Cyprus and 1/7 the area of Switzerland. The Caucasian Mineral Waters resort group unites Kislovodsk, Essentuki, Zheleznovodsk and Pyatigorsk. This small towns, quite comparable in size to such European resort centers, like Karlovy Vary and Baden-Baden. All of them are located close to each other and form a single resort area. The official history of the Caucasian Mineral Waters begins on April 24, 1803, when Tsar Alexander I signed a decree recognizing this region as a state property. Since that time, settlements began to appear near the springs: Goryachevodsk (from 1830 Pyatigorsk), Kislovodsk, Essentuki, Zheleznovodsk.

Geographical location

Caucasian Mineral Waters has a developed transport links both with nearby and distant regions.

Nature and climate of the CMS

The Caucasian Mineral Waters region is a picturesque corner of the North Caucasus. Over several tens of kilometers from north to south, the steppe plain smoothly turns into a mountain landscape. Feather grass steppes give way to luxurious deciduous and pine forests, above which lie alpine meadows. Each resort offers a vast panorama of mountains with the majestic Elbrus in the distance. The resort towns themselves are located at an altitude of 600, 1000 meters above sea level, which determines one of their main healing factors - the purest mountain air.
Peculiarities geographical location Caucasian Mineral Waters, such as the proximity of the Main Caucasian Range, which retains moist air masses from the Black Sea, have a beneficial effect on the climate. Most of the time the weather here is dry and clear. The number of sunny days per year reaches 300. Summers are warm in the south, and winters are moderately mild. Thanks to this climate, Caucasian Mineral Waters is year-round resort, where there is no off-season period.
Internal use of mineral waters
Nutritional treatment with mineral waters has been popular for centuries. When drinking mineral water, the regulatory systems of the human body are mobilized and metabolic processes are activated. KMV mineral waters, due to their diversity, are used to treat a wide range of diseases. The most famous are the waters of the springs “Narzan”, “Essentuki-4”, “Essentuki-17”, “Slavyanovskaya”, “Smirnovskaya”. Depending on the composition, water improves metabolism, enhances the removal of waste products from the body, has an anti-inflammatory effect, normalizes the basic functions of the digestive system, and restores liver function. Internal use of mineral waters includes: drinking, gastric lavage, drainage, intraintestinal procedures (microenemas, siphon intestinal lavages, subaqueous baths), inhalation of finely sprayed particles of mineral water.
External use of mineral waters (balneotherapy)
carried out for preventive and therapeutic purposes. When taking water procedures, biologically active substances are stimulated in the human body, the cardiovascular and nervous systems react, the activity of the kidneys increases, and the blood supply to the heart muscle is activated. The main forms of external use of mineral waters: baths, underwater spinal traction, massage showers, sitz baths, ascending showers, local hand and foot baths, head irrigation, swimming in the pool.

Tatiana Solomatina

Hello, dear readers! It is with pleasure that I continue the topic of recreation and treatment in Caucasian Mineral Waters (CMV).

This information will be of interest to everyone who is going on vacation and treatment in KMS for the first time. I’ll tell you how you can get here, I’ll advise what time of year is more comfortable to relax, and when it’s better to come for treatment, I’ll write what criteria you need to choose a resort and housing, I’ll give you a few practical advice on all these issues.

I have collected everything about CMS in one place. Here is the information that I myself once searched on the Internet; perhaps it will help to create an approximate picture of recreation and treatment in this place. Interested? Then let's study the material in order.

KMV is located in the Stavropol Territory, so getting here for rest and treatment is not at all difficult. There is an airport and railway stations here. For those who live nearby or simply prefer to travel by personal transport, there are no problems either, the roads are good, and at every sanatorium or hotel there is almost always a parking lot.

By plane

The KMV international airport is located in the city of Mineralnye Vody (http://mvairport.ru/), it is small, but quite comfortable and receives many flights from different regions of the country (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Cherepovets, Kursk, Nizhnevartovsk, etc.). d.).

Distance from the airport to the KMV resorts: Kislovodsk – 55 km, Essentuki – 40 km, Pyatigorsk – 25 km, Zheleznovodsk – 20 km.

You can take a taxi from the airport, or order a transfer from a sanatorium or hotel; in some places this service is provided free of charge.

Unfortunately, getting to the place by public transport is not very convenient, direct message with cities from the airport no. But before railway station walks minibus No. 11, travel time 20-25 minutes, interval 20 minutes (passes the bus station). Further, you can get to any resort by train. Electric trains, at the time of writing, operate at an average interval of 1 hour.

Also, from the railway station there is bus No. 223 to Pyatigorsk and No. 107 to Zheleznovodsk (stop at the station square). There are also buses to Essentuki and Kislovodsk, but they depart from the bus station.

By train

The resort can be reached by train. Moreover, there are railway stations in almost all cities in the region. Mineral waters - http://mineralnyievodyi.dzvr.ru/ http://pjatigorsk.dzvr.ru/ http://essentuki.dzvr.ru/ http://kislovodsk.dzvr.ru/ . As a rule, there is a lot of public transport in the station area, which will not be difficult to get to the place you need.

If public transport does not suit you, then you can take a taxi or order a transfer in advance, I wrote about this just above. The only difference is the cost, the price in the city is, of course, cheaper than what you will pay when traveling from the airport.

The only resort among the above where trains do not go long distance, this is Zheleznovodsk. Guests who travel to this city for recreation and treatment buy train tickets to Mineralnye Vody; this is the most convenient option if they choose this type of travel. Next by bus or taxi.

By car

If you are going to travel by car, then it is difficult for me to give you a route, because everyone’s starting point is different. I will only say that the roads in the KMV are excellent, with the exception of mountain paths and some streets in the resorts themselves, signs hang on every corner, local residents They are good-natured and will gladly give you directions if you suddenly get lost. Although with the current technology (navigator) and decent roads, it is quite difficult to get lost.

  • If you are from Moscow and are not afraid to fly, then it is easier, and most importantly cheaper, to travel by plane. No matter how much I tried to compare the prices of travel in a compartment and a flight, the second option cost less or came out to the same amount as traveling in a reserved seat, even taking into account the transfer. Therefore, the statement: “It’s more economical by train!” - delusion.
  • For those who plan to get to the place from the airport by taxi, it is better to take care of the car from home. It is not difficult to find several carriers on the Internet; their websites have all the cost information. The fact is that at the airport you will pay 30% more, and it is impossible to catch a sane (for the price) driver there (its own mafia). You won't be able to get onto the highway either; it's quite far from the terminal.
  • If you already know where you are staying, ask about the transfer. Sometimes it's free. If not, compare with the cost of a taxi. Most often, a pre-booked taxi is cheaper.
  • You can save money by ordering a taxi in both directions at once. Typically, all carriers offer this service and the trip costs 10% less. However, this option is only suitable for those who know the exact departure date.
  • If you decide to get there public transport, then at home look at the train schedule for your dates (winter is different from summer). I usually look at this site - https://rasp.yandex.ru/, there is always reliable information here. With buses it’s a little more complicated, read the forums and the latest reviews.

When and for how long to go?

The answer to this question largely depends on the purpose of the trip. As a rule, all resort guests are divided into two main groups. Some people come here to relax, visit all the interesting places, and at the same time get a little healthier. Others come primarily to undergo treatment, and at the same time to explore the surrounding area, if there is time left and there is a desire.

You may ask me: "What's the difference?" The answer is – huge. Of course, you can come at any time of the year, for any period of time, and for any purpose, however, in order for your trip to be as comfortable as possible and your goal to be achieved, I advise you to listen to my recommendations. Let's look at both options separately.

For treatment

It is better to come to the resort for treatment from November to April, and it is advisable not to fall on holidays.

The thing is that in the summer months there are a priori a lot of people, sanatoriums and hotels are packed to capacity.
Accordingly, during queuing procedures, the staff is stressed out due to the influx of people, and there are often minor hiccups that spoil the mood. Some narrow specialists go on vacation - they are also people and do not want to rest in the winter. There are many families with children, there is no silence, which many people count on when they come for treatment.

This list can be continued, but I think you yourself understand that treatment in the “off season” is much easier and more fruitful.

Another important plus is the cost. IN winter time the price of tours is much lower, plus promotions are regularly held to attract guests. The money saved will always be useful for purchasing medical services that you need, but are not included in the cost of the trip or course.

I think we have sorted out the first question, now I want to talk a little about how many days you need to come for treatment.

Remember, back in the USSR, resort packages were almost always for 21 days. Previously, I didn’t understand why there were so many, if the voucher for this period included procedures, only 10 each. It seemed that two weeks were already in sight.

However, not everything is so simple. The fact is that for complete treatment they are usually prescribed as water procedures(baths, swimming pool, etc.), as well as mud or physiotherapy. And you can’t combine them, so they are done every other day, one day water therapy, the other electrotherapy or mud therapy.

Accordingly, it takes 20 days if you want to take 10 pieces of each. This is not counting the missed first day, on which you need to visit the doctor to get appointments and schedule them by time and day.

And do not forget that on Sunday the treatment is not carried out, or is carried out partially.
Of course, it is not necessary to do 10 procedures; you can take fewer, then the number of days required will be reduced. However, here we are considering people who travel for the purpose of treatment, so for a good effect you need to come for at least 21 days, and preferably in the winter, when there are few people.

On vacation

For those people who come to the region on vacation, it is much easier. To have a good rest and visit all the interesting places, two weeks is enough. Even this period can be reduced, but then you will have to sacrifice days for a relaxing holiday, or you will not see everything.

As for the time of year, the period from May to October is more suitable for holidays in the KMS. The weather is almost always comfortable, warm, rains are usually rare and short-lived, there is almost no wind, and nature reveals all its beauty.

Which resort should you choose?

Each city of the CMS is beautiful and significant in its own way. However, if your goal is relaxation, then I recommend choosing Kislovodsk. In my opinion, it is most conveniently located relative to all interesting places. Moreover, it seems to me that there is more entertainment here and better developed tourism infrastructure, one Resort Park is worth more than all other objects.

However, this is my personal opinion, and you have the right to disagree with me.

Attention! Those who travel to this region for treatment should choose a resort based on the disease that brought them here.

– diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract, digestive organs, metabolic disorders, andrological diseases. Additional information you can see around the resort.
Concomitant treatment: diseases of the musculoskeletal system, ENT organs, gynecological diseases.

- diseases of the musculoskeletal system, peripheral nervous system, peripheral vessels of the lower extremities, digestion, skin diseases, gynecological and andrological diseases, metabolic disorders. Read about the resort.

- diseases of the digestive system and metabolic disorders.
Related profiles: diseases of the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, consequences of injuries, gynecological and andrological diseases. I wrote about the Essentuki resort.

– diseases of the circulatory system, chronic respiratory diseases of a non-tuberculous nature, bronchial asthma without frequent and severe attacks, glaucoma.
Related profiles: neurological diseases, diseases of the digestive system and musculoskeletal system, gynecological. Read more about the Kislovodsk resort in the article.

Mineral springs, which resorts are rich in, play a major role in the specialization of a particular place. Therefore, when choosing a place of treatment, always pay attention to the water that is suitable for treating your specific disease.

For example, although urology is treated in almost every resort in the region, people with diseases of the genitourinary system are better off going to Zheleznovodsk. Because only there there is a source of Smirnovskaya water, which is most suitable for the treatment of urological diseases.

The name of the Essentuki resort speaks for itself. The famous water perfectly treats diseases of the digestive tract. "Narzan", which is available in Kislovodsk, is also recommended for the treatment of certain diseases.

I won’t list all the diseases (I’m not a doctor), I think the meaning of the above is clear. What is the source would be better suited only a doctor can determine exactly you, so my conclusions are for informational purposes only.

Where to stay?

Where to stay also depends on many factors: financial situation, physical condition, purpose of the trip, etc. Let's try to consider some of the possible options.

Highlights

It’s easier and cheaper for those guests who come by car on vacation, and consider treatment as an addition to their vacation. In this case, having a car allows you to rent housing a little further from the main resort places, which significantly saves the budget.

For those who do not have a means of transportation, it is better to choose housing within walking distance to the sources, so as not to waste money and time moving around the city. But as you yourself understand, such rent will be more expensive.

Attention! The issue of the distance of housing to healing springs is especially relevant for people who come to the resort for treatment. Them walking distance it is simply necessary and this is the primary issue when looking for housing, regardless of whether you choose the private sector or choose treatment in a sanatorium.

Sanatoriums

Most convenient way relax and get treatment - buy a ticket to a sanatorium. The advantages here are obvious. Everything in one place, the price includes meals, no evening entertainment program, treatment is scheduled hourly, there is always medical staff, you don’t have to go anywhere, etc.

The disadvantages are not so serious: adherence to the regime (smoking, drinking alcohol, eating by the hour and what they give), the choice of procedures depends on the doctor (although you can change it). In my opinion, the only worthy disadvantage is the cost. But, dear readers, you always have to pay for comfort and convenience.

I can only give you some advice:

  • If you are specifically going to a sanatorium, then when choosing, focus primarily on the distance from the pump room, or the presence of one in the sanatorium itself, which also occurs, although very rarely.
  • It is not always reasonable to pay for specialized treatment programs. If necessary, pay extra on the spot. I had a case where certain expensive procedures could not be performed due to a concomitant disease. True, I was lucky, they were replaced with cosmetic procedures and the money was not lost. However, not everyone meets halfway; this is the exception rather than the rule.
  • Do not neglect the “our doctors” section on the website of the selected sanatorium. From the description and schedule, you can usually understand how well the staff is staffed with specialists, whether this or that doctor is permanent or visiting. I think you don’t need to explain why this is needed.
  • Buy a ticket directly on the sanatorium website; if problems arise with check-in, issues are resolved faster than through intermediaries.
  • Be sure to read the latest reviews before choosing. There is usually a lot of information on the Internet, but it may be out of date.

I wrote in more detail about rest and treatment in sanatoriums, about who this type of holiday is not suitable for, in another article. I will separately write reviews of the sanatoriums in which I was able to receive treatment. Read one review about the Kislovodsk sanatorium. Subscribe to my newsletter and you will be the first to receive new publications!

Hotels and private sector

In any city you can stay in a hotel; it’s not difficult to rent an apartment or house. I have never gone on vacation and treatment to the KMS in this way, but there are enough services where such options are presented, and they are not difficult to find on the Internet.

This is a good choice for those who want to save money, especially if the train is large and you are traveling for a long time.
The main recommendations here are simple - try to choose accommodation closer to the pump rooms and read reviews. However, you must understand that private housing is always a lottery and a lot depends on the integrity of the owners.

Do not forget that if your goal is treatment, then you need to decide in advance which medical institution you are going to purchase the course from and choose housing nearby. Because there are usually a lot of procedures, walking long distances every day is of course useful, but quite difficult. You need to carefully calculate your physical capabilities, otherwise the treatment will not work for future use.

For now, this is all I planned to tell you today. General information You can read about the CMS region.

Now I'll say goodbye for a while.
Tatiana Solomatina

In the south of the Stavropol Territory in the foothills of the Bolshoi Caucasian Ridge There is amazing place- Caucasian Mineral Waters. This resort area is located at the junction of the Mineralovodsk inclined plain and the northern slopes of the Caucasus Range, exactly in the middle between the Caspian and Black Seas. On one side, the region is surrounded by snowy peaks, and on the other side by the arid Caspian steppes. All this creates a very valuable healing climate, appreciated by balneologists and vacationers. Interestingly, French Cote d'Azur and the Spanish Adriatic lie almost at the same latitude as the Caucasian Mineral Waters.

Kavminvods are usually considered to be the agglomeration of the cities of Pyatigorsk, Essentuki, Kislovodsk, Zheleznovodsk and Mineralnye Vody. Although geographically the CMV is much larger. Starting from the foot of Elbrus in the south and ending near the city of Mineralnye Vody, the Caucasian Mineralnye Vody region covers an area of more than five hundred thousand hectares.

Taking this into account, the KMS region can be classified as mid-mountain, because the maximum height above sea level reaches 2592 meters (Bermamyt plateau).

The CMS can be conditionally divided into two climatic zones: southern and northern. The first will include Kislovodsk - there are more sunny days and there are almost no strong winds. This is a climate with pronounced features of a continental lowland. Kislovodsk is located in a natural basin, surrounded on all sides by mountains that block clouds. Thanks to this, the sun shines 300 days a year in Kislovodsk. This is one of the sunniest cities in the world.

Pyatigorsk, Essentuki, Zheleznovodsk can be classified as the northern part of the KMS, it is also very sunny and warm here, but the humidity and precipitation are higher. Although, quite often you can see how it rains in one of the resort cities, while in other cities it is clear and sunny. The weather can change several times a day. This happens very quickly. There is even a saying among people: “ North Caucasus“Keep gloves in reserve.”

Winters in Caucasian Mineral Waters are warm; snow rarely lasts longer than ten days. Snow in winter is less common than rain. In autumn, the weather is often warm until the end of November. The proximity of the Greater Caucasus Range and a large number of green spaces soften the summer heat. Spring is usually early: in April-May, many residents and vacationers already begin to swim in rivers and lakes.

History of the resort

The first relatively accurate information about the mineral waters of the Caucasus appears in 1717, when Peter I gave the task to his physician, Doctor Schober, to find and study hot waters near the first Russian fortress of Terki, later called Bragunsky. In his report, Schober described springs in the lands of the Pyatigorsk Circassians, as Kabardians were previously called in Rus'. From that moment on, the study of the medicinal properties of Kavminvodsky mineral springs begins. Unfortunately, after the death of Peter I, all initiatives to develop KMS resorts were stopped.

In 1780, the Konstantinogorsk fortress was founded at the foot of Mount Mashuk. The soldiers were the first to notice the healing properties of the hot springs of the future Pyatigorsk. The Academy of Sciences sends Doctor of Medicine Peter Simon Pallas to study mineral springs. He studied for a year medicinal properties water In addition to the Pyatigorsk springs, Pallas also explored Narzan in Kislovodsk. They noted that water bursts out of the ground with great force and is capable of lifting a person bathing in it.

After the report of P. S. Pallas, the CMS region gained fame. People come here for treatment from the most remote corners of Russia.

In 1803, Alexander I, with his rescript, assigned resort status to Caucasian Mineral Waters. Funds are allocated for the arrangement and development of the resort. Despite government support, the resort is developing poorly. The hospitals are in disrepair. The aristocracy prefers to travel to foreign resorts. Thus, according to data for 1860, the Russians foreign resorts About 160 million rubles were spent.

In order to rectify the situation, in 1861 the Caucasian Mineral Waters were leased to the entrepreneur Novoselsky, and then to A. M. Baikov. This did not give the desired results, and two years later the resort returned to government control.

Resort development

In the sixties of the 19th century, research scientists Smirnov and Batalin carried out serious work to study the balneological features of the Caucasian resorts and mineral springs. A Geological Committee is being created, which conducts a comprehensive study of the subsoil. The year 1893 was marked by the opening of a railway line that connected all the resort towns with the Vladikavkaz line. As a result, the resort is rapidly gaining popularity. By 1914, the number of vacationers increased more than 45 times. This year, more than 100,000 people visited Caucasian Mineral Waters.

In 1919, Kavminvodsk resorts received a safe conduct and the status of “socially significant”. The decree signed by V.I. Lenin saves the infrastructure from looting.

In 1920, the Balneological Institute was created in Pyatigorsk, which exists to this day. The Institute studies balneological factors in the treatment and prevention of various diseases.

During the Second World War, all sanatoriums and boarding houses of the resort accepted the wounded.

Resort today

Today, there are about one hundred sanatoriums in the region, which are visited by more than seven hundred thousand people per year.

You can come and relax at any time of the year, but if you are planning to come in the summer, it is better to think about purchasing vouchers in advance. They say in Soviet era in the summer in the cities of Kavminvod, the number of people in the cities tripled due to vacationers. Of course, this popularity is explained not only therapeutic factors. Narzan alone won't satisfy you. The region has a large number of cafes for every taste and color. Probably, only here you can taste the dishes of a wide variety of peoples: Russian, Kabardian, Jewish, Azerbaijani, Turkish, Ossetian, Karachay, Armenian, Chinese, Japanese and even Vietnamese cuisine - choose, compare, evaluate. I'm sure you'll find something to suit your taste in each one. And also, try not to get confused in the various methods of preparing barbecue and remember the main differences. After all, if you forget, you will have to repeat the entire course again, and one voucher may not have enough time.

If you are tired of culinary delights, then know: in Kavminvody there is where to get spiritual food. Every city has a theater. In Pyatigorsk this is the Stavropol State Regional Operetta Theater (previously it was called the Musical Comedy Theater). In Essentuki it is Concert hall named after F.I. Shalyapin. In Kislovodsk, I recommend visiting the Philharmonic. This is one of the oldest concert institutions in Russia. In Pyatigorsk park named after. In addition to the attractions, Kirov also has a concert venue “Tuning Fork”. And there are so many 3D cinemas that there is no point in listing them here.

In any of the KMS resort towns, you will find numerous bowling alleys and billiard rooms, as well as nightclubs with discos until the morning.

In addition to the attractions on the CMS, vacationers are offered more than a hundred different excursions, both one-day and designed for several days. Excursion routes the most diverse: here you have Honey Falls, and Arkhyz, ancient city Magas (where the oldest in Russia are located) Christian churches), trout farming and alpine skiing, permafrost cave or Deuteroathon monastery. It’s impossible to count everything. It is very difficult to choose excursions on the spot. Therefore, it is best to first read about them in advance, look at reviews, photos and make your choice.

Every self-respecting Kavminvodsk resort town has its own park, at least one lake and picturesque healing paths.

Terrenkur: from the French terrain - terrain and the German Kur - treatment, a method of sanatorium-resort treatment that involves dosed exercise in the form of walking.

These places are saturated not only real story, but also literary. Bronze Kisa Vorobyaninov is still begging near Gukasov’s coffee shop, which is opposite the Lermontov Gallery, and his partner Ostap-Suleiman-Bertha-Maria-Bender-Bey still sells tickets near that same Proval.

Photos of KMV

There are 17 unique laccolith mountains in Kavminvody 1, each mountain has its own legend and special charm. You definitely need to visit at least one of them. If you are unable to climb on foot, then there is a road to the Air Temple (Kislovodsk) and to the top of Mashuka (Pyatigorsk). cable car. The Pyatigorsk ski lift is considered the fastest in Europe. In clear weather, panoramas of the Greater Caucasus Range open up from there, which you will never forget. They say that it is worth coming to the Caucasian Mineral Waters just for the views that open from there. Or you can take off from the ground on a paraglider and enjoy the panorama and the feeling of free flight.

You will definitely like it here. Having arrived in the summer, you will definitely want to return: admire the mountains in autumn colors or wander through the snow-covered parks. Here, at any time of the year, you can improve your health and find something to do to your liking.

1 Mountain laccolith- can be considered as a “failed volcano”, because the magma was unable to escape and only lifted the upper layer of sedimentary rocks, solidifying underneath it in the form of a dome or hemisphere, often mushroom-shaped. (Geographical Encyclopedia).

Beautiful video about Caucasian Mineral Waters

Caucasian Mineral Waters - widely known resort area Stavropol Territory, which is a unique territory in terms of environmental indicators. The region is located near Elbrus and is famous for its hydromineral resources. Carbon dioxide springs, baths, water and mud springs of the Caucasian Mineral Waters gained popularity already at the beginning of the 18th century, when the study of the healing properties of mineral resources began.

Lake “Proval” on Mount Mashuk (Pyatigorsk)

History of the region's development

Peter I was the first to take an active interest in the region, where he sent one of the leading doctors to study the territory. Later, detailed descriptions of the mineral waters and hot springs of Pyatigorsk were made by order of Alexander I. A special commission of doctors confirmed the medicinal properties of the region’s hydro resources. From that moment on, Caucasian Mineral Waters was elevated to the rank of a resort, which quickly became incredibly popular. At first, the balneological resort was accessible only to the nobility and the military. During Soviet times, the territory began to be more actively filled not only with guests from different parts of the USSR, but also with sick people coming from abroad and simply wanting to relax with health benefits. Too active interest in Mineral Waters naturally caused an increase in the number of industrial facilities and processes of pollution of the territory were launched. In 1992, on the part of B.N.
