The tip of the cape resembles a bear in outline. The natural sculpture was created due to wind erosion. The figure of the bear is quite realistic: it is overgrown with legends passed down from generation to generation, according to which the Laestrygonians lived here - the fierce shepherds whom Odysseus encountered at one of the stages of his wanderings.

We had an absolutely wonderful holiday in Sardinia - we were lucky with the weather, we liked the hotel, and in general everything somehow turned out well).
We generally like Sardinia. For many reasons. And then Inna’s report caught my eye - http://kapinna.livejournal.com/34298.html and so when the question arose of where to go for a week in September, the choice fell on this place in Italy.
This time we chose the Costa Smeralda area as our base. We have already been there once, but only while passing through, and this time we decided to be based there, because... From there it was easier to go for a couple of days to eastern part islands. We had never been to this part of the island before, we wanted to see what was there and how it was. True, I didn’t dare to stay there for the whole week - it seemed to me (judging by the reports) that there are quite rocky shores and it would be problematic to do day trips along the coast. And I turned out to be right), but more on that later))).
First of all, I want to tell you about the place where we lived for almost a week. The hotel was called
Bagaglino I Giardini Di Porto Cervo(http://www.bagaglinomultivillage.it/?q=node/105). The name is a little misleading, because... The hotel is located not in Porto Cervo itself, but next to the small town (village?) Baia Sardinia. However, it’s also not far from Porto Cervo from there.
I booked the hotel through Booking and the reviews about it on their website (and on Tripadvisor) were somewhat contradictory. Therefore, I didn’t even know what to expect from it, hmm... However, I personally really liked the price (in the off-season the prices are simply amazing!), and the location of the hotel too, so we took a chance.
The hotel turned out to be simply wonderful!!! We liked everything there))). With one big caveat, however, - at the height of summer it will be very hot there, there are no air conditioners in the rooms, which, IMHO, is completely incomprehensible for a 4-star hotel! However, if you go there like we did - at the end of September, then this problem will not exist. When we arrived, the air temperature was somewhere around 27-28 during the day, and a little lower in the evenings, and it was very comfortable in the apartment...
Well, the view from the balcony was very pleasing)))...

So. What exactly did we like there?
- I already mentioned the price)
- these are apartments, which is always a plus for us personally (since there is a refrigerator)
- the apartments are very spacious - from 60 sq.m. and with high ceilings
- excellent cleaning every day (and on weekends too), if you need beach towels, they are also provided
- the hotel is located in a small bay and has its own, although modest by Sardinian standards, beach
- great location on the coast - nearby are Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo, and various other places
- the hotel has several restaurants and bars

Well, the view from the balconies is wonderful almost everywhere, because... the hotel was built as if in the form of an amphitheater, with balconies mainly overlooking the bay and the sea. By the way, we first checked into an apartment with a terrace, which was located on the ground floor. And although there, from the terrace, there was also a view of the sea, we still decided to change to the top floor. And they didn’t regret it. And I recommend it to you - if you decide to stay there. The fact is that on the lower floors, in addition to the terrace, there are also lawns that are carefully watered. What mosquitoes love very much (((. There were no mosquitoes at all on the top floor).
And one more nuance. Nobody warned us about this, and we didn’t know that there were rallies there on Sundays. Those. I read about this - that on the Costa Smeralda, instead of the usual religious holidays, various regattas and rallies are held. But I didn’t expect that we would end up in something like this... We actually found ourselves “hostage” the whole day!!! We sat in the hotel and couldn’t go anywhere that day(((...More on that a little later...

This is what the hotel looks like.
Built in a typical Costa Smeralda style - almost all the buildings there are in this style and in this color scheme.

Hotel beach. By the way, umbrellas and trestle beds are also provided at the hotel.

And this is in the same place, but for those who want to sunbathe separately.

The hotel is divided into several parts. Our unit was called Magnolia.
Here our apartments are exactly in the photo

And inside.

And of course the balcony. And the views from there.
To the right is the sea.

To the left are the mountains.

Isn’t it very important when you live next to the sea, so that the sea can be seen from the balcony?)
And what’s also nice is that you can hear the splashing of waves there at night! It’s very nice to sleep to the sound of the waves, isn’t it? Otherwise, it is very, very quiet... Although there is a road right under the balcony, only hotel guests sometimes drive there to their rooms. So it was quiet, yes... Until our last day...
On the last day we decided to sleep longer (we had to get up early the next day). We're sleeping, it's about 9 o'clock in the morning, the window is open, the breeze is blowing the curtains, beauty... And suddenly! Bang! Bang! A car rushed by at great speed right under the balcony! Well, you know how terribly noisy they are, these rally cars. Almost with shots. Bang! Bang! Second car and third! What is this, we think, maybe the mafia is running away from the police? We looked out the window, and there - car after car was rushing by at great speed, people had gathered and were taking photographs. From the paintings on the cars we realized that this rally was taking place. Hmm, we didn’t expect that the route would pass under our balcony, hmm...

(Costa Smeralda) translated from Italian - emerald coast - is the pearl of Sardinia. Known throughout the world as an elite resort. A corner that attracts everyone, where, despite all the wealth, there are places of dizzying beauty, wonderful beaches and crystal clear water. is a brand, but apart from the bustle and sparkling lights of summer, it is actually very a nice place, where it is worth coming. Today we present to you 10 things you need to see and do on the Emerald Coast

Arzachena is a commune on the coast 88 km long, indented by bays and beaches, born in 1962 thanks to the Ismalite prince Karim Aga Khan IV. Artsakhena itself is interesting, and we advise you to visit this Galurean town. Visit the most old churchSanta Maria Neve(Santa Maria della Neve), or Santa Maria Maggiore(Santa Maria Maggiore), rising in the historical center, in the Renaissance Square (Piazza Risorgimento) and dating back to 1716. No less beautiful are the other three churches of Arzachena (another dedicated to Santa Maria Neva, in which a festival is held on the second Sunday in September, and Also Saint Lucia(Santa Lucia) and Saint Pietro(San Pietro)).

Nuragic complexes and other architectural attractions are also located on the territory ( Albucciu(Albucciu), Malkittu(Malchittu), necropolises of Li Muri(Li Muri) graves of the giants at Coddu Vecchiu(Coddu Vecchju), Nuraghi La Prichona(La Prisgiona)).

Naturally, the main wealth is the coast: numerous bays, bays and beaches - not only Costa Smeralda, but also Baja Sardinia, Gulf of Pevero and Cannigione are worth seeing. Plunge into the world of wild nature surrounding Artsakhena, namely ponds of Saloni(Saloni), home to many species of wading birds, such as little white and great gray herons, mallards, coots, waterhens and the rare plumage, distinguished by blue plumage and long red legs. Sometimes you can see magnificent pink flamingos here.

Visit the unforgettable beaches of the Costa Smeralda

Located on the coast best beaches Sardinia. Paradise corners, created to enjoy the summer (and sometimes spring) sun, relax and swim in an amazingly clear sea, the like of which will be difficult to find. All you have to do is choose a beach: Fox Bay(Cala di Volpe) or Cannigione, Capriccioli(Capriccioli) or Principe(Principe), beach White sand (Rena Bianca) or Romazzino(Romazzino). They are all wonderful. And there are also beaches in the bay Marinella(Golfo di Marinella) La Celvia(La Celvia) Lisha Ruja(Liscia Ruja) Granu Bay(Cala Granu) Mannen(Mannena), Small Pevero(Piccolo Pevero). If you decide, we recommend visiting each one.

Porto Cervo

If we talk about the coast, then talk about Porto Cervo. In the summer it becomes the "gossip center of Italy". I owe my name to weird shape(cervo – deer in Italian) natural port. It's worth coming here even if you don't like luxury and gossip. Between the famous Conversational area(piazzetta delle Chiacchiere) and Lower area(Sottopiazza) there are streets with windows and balconies in a typical style, shops and boutiques of the most famous brands are hidden, and on the outskirts there are luxurious villas surrounded by green gardens. Walking along the promenade - one of the most popular on the Mediterranean - you can admire the most beautiful yachts and perhaps even meet their owners, who are often very famous people. It is clear that you should also visit the yacht club.

Stella Maris Church

Built in the 60s according to the canons of Mediterranean architecture Michele Busiri Vici, was dedicated in 1968. Inside are some of the greatest works of art, such as the work El Greco(Domenico Theotokopoulos), Mother of Sorrows 16th century, the most valuable organ made of Neapolitan reed De Martino(17th-18th century), bronze door with images of the Annunciation and Christian symbols Luciano Minguzzi(1986), two crucifixes of the German school (one from the 18th century and the other from the late 17th century). Outside the church, on the facade, there are two sculptures Pinuccio Sciola, depicting Saint Giuseppe and Pope Paolo II. The church can be reached on foot, and from the height there is a view of Porto Cervo.

Porto Rotondo

When visiting the coast, don't miss Porto Rotondo. Situated between the Gulf of Cugnana and Marinella, it, together with Porto Cervo, are the most typical Italian holiday destinations. Porto Rotondo will surprise you with its beaches: from Ira Beach(Spiaggia Ira) from white sand to rocky Peak of Asphodeli(Punta Asfodeli). Let's also not forget about Kameni beach(spiaggia dei Sassi) and Algae(spiaggia delle Alghe), but, needless to say, they are all beautiful. And Porto Rotondo is also famous for its nightlife, so after daytime entertainment you can plunge into the night atmosphere, which is no less entertaining.

Gulf of Aranci

Another beautiful place– Gulf of Aranci (Golfo Aranci) (from the Gallurian Golfu di li Granci, or Crab Bay), small but capable of giving a lot of impressions. A strip of land in the middle of the sea, ending Cape Figari(Capo Figari). We recommend taking an excursion, either land or water, to enjoy nature and breathtaking depths. The Gulf of Aranci is rich in architectural monuments, For example, Sacred Well of Milis(Pozzo Sacro di Milis) or Old Semaphore(Vecchio Semaforo), an ancient military fortress on the top of Cape Figari, where William Marconi himself worked.

The beaches here are amazing, especially Sabina Bay(Cala Sabina) and White beach (Spiaggia Bianca). If you love good food, don't miss the chance to try the local fish dishes. Excursion to Bottlenose Dolphin Research Institute(Bottlenose Dolphin Research Institute), a world research center, will also be fascinating and if you are lucky, you will see beautiful dolphins in their natural environment. Don't miss the high cape on the island of Tavolara.

Village of Nurag la Prichona

If you're in Sardinia, you simply must check out the nuraghi. Perhaps many people don’t know, but they have their own nuraghes - La Prichona(Nuraghe La Prisgiona). They are located near the town of Capichera. The archaeological complex is very beautiful, and professionally trained guides will give you a wonderful tour, tell you about the ancient Nuragic civilization, and you will understand that it is not all luxury and high life.

Lee Nibani Islands

Isole Li Nibani (Gallurian Islands of Gulls) – group small islands southeast of Porto Cervo. Refers to international Usta Bonifacio Park(Bocche di Bonifacio), uninhabited and in summer attract tourists with the beauty of its rugged coastline and emerald sea. Rules the roost on the islands wild nature, many species of birds nest, including gulls and falcons.

Li Nibani Beach is surrounded by the lush vegetation of the Li Nibani port, but if you walk around you will find isolated coves created for relaxing in peace and quiet. If you are in excellent physical shape, do not deny yourself the pleasure of rising to the top Dzoppu Mountains(Monte Zoppu), which offers incredible views of the coast and the outlines of the island of Tavolara. You can also go to some nearby islands - Mortorio, Le Camere, Soffi - as they are also worth your attention.

Savor

- by definition the center of social life. Almost the entire secular society of Italy moves here for the summer. Various events, literary meetings, gastronomic and sports festivals, discos and concerts. Everything happens here on the coast, starting in June - all you have to do is choose. From Porto Cervo to Porto Rotondo you will not be bored. If you like discos, here you will find something for every taste. From the most popular ones like Billionaire di Briatore and Phi Beach in Sardinia Bay, Sottovento in Porto Cervo and Smaila's in Poltu Quatu, Ritual in Sardinia Bay, Peper in Cala Piccolo Pevero Bay, Blues Cafe in the Bay of Ruja, Peyote in Santa Teresa Mirialveda. Therefore, enjoy the beaches and fantastic sea during the day, and have fun at night. There will be no shortage of this here!

Rally on the Costa Smeralda

The now quite famous Rally of Sardinia has been included in the World Rally Championship calendar since 2004, when it replaced the Sanremo Rally as the Italian event. Fast cars, piloted by the world's most famous racers, race along steep mountain roads near Porto Cervo and Gallura. This spectacle can be seen every year. Usually in late May or early June, combining pleasure with admiring the beauty of the Gallura wilderness.

This is a special coastline, stretching for 55 km, where people come from all over the world for elite and fashionable holiday. This is where world celebrities from show business and politics like to spend their holidays. According to research published in a magazine about European luxury real estate, Costa Smeralda is the most expensive place in Europe.

Geographically, the Costa Smeralda is located in the northeast of Sardinia, just 5 km from airport of the same name. The nearest cities are Olbia and Arzachena. Porto Cervo is considered the center of all the tourist luxury of this resort. Until the mid-20th century, the Costa Smeralda coast was unknown to many people. However, after the Arab prince Karim Aga Khan IV visited here in 1961, everything changed. He literally fell in love with this mesmerizing beauty of the Emerald Coast and decided to radically change and develop the north of Sardinia. At that time, the Costa Smeralda was of no value, and he managed to buy the resort for only 25 thousand dollars.

Together with his financial partners and first-class architects, he created the Costa Smeralda Consortium project, thanks to which the resort turned into a “reservation for millionaires”. The project involved the construction of luxury villas and hotels, a network of entertainment venues, an airport and roads, yacht marinas and golf clubs, sports grounds and many other amenities for resort guests. At the same time, strict rules were established, according to which the natural landscapes of the area should not be damaged. The architects working on this project did an excellent job.

Initially, the resort was intended only for a select public. However, gradually not only financial magnates and movie stars began to visit Costa Smeralda, but also lesser-known personalities and even ordinary tourists. The first villas were put into operation already in 1963. The Caladi Volpe (“Fox Bay”) hotel, built in the style of an ancient Italian village designed by the architect Jacques Quelle, deserves special attention. This hotel became the second home for Prince Aga Khan IV during his stay on the island. Also, in 1977, episodes of the tenth James Bond film, entitled “The Spy Who Loved Me,” were filmed there. In 2001, the hotel underwent restoration and today all rooms have a traditional Mediterranean look. Not long ago, the Emir of Qatar bought the Costa Smeralda resort for 600 million euros. He plans to further develop the Emerald Coast of Sardinia and build luxury buildings.

Many consider the sea off the Costa Smeralda the most beautiful in the world. It’s not for nothing that these shores are called emerald. The sea water here is amazingly clean and clear, shimmering with turquoise. No less picturesque are the white sands of the coast, turning in places into stones and majestic cliffs. And the magnificent aroma of Mediterranean vegetation and the sea puts tourists in a romantic mood. The coast of Costa Smeralda is strewn with many small islands, capes and bays. In the depths of the island there are many villages where archaeological sites such as nuraghe and necropolises are stored. Looking for interesting excursion tourists go to the La Maddalena archipelago, a large marine reserve located on more than 60 islands.

Beaches of Costa Smeralda

One of the most beautiful and popular beaches is Spiaggia del Principe, translated as “Prince's Beach”. This place got its name in honor of Prince Aga Khan IV, who loved to visit here. The coastline is an arc of fine sand, bordered by cliffs and lush vegetation. The depth here is shallow; the bottom of this beach consists of sand and granite, due to which the sea water is especially transparent and has a beautiful iridescent hue.

Costa Smeralda, a small stretch of coast in the northeast of Sardinia (area 3500 hectares, length coastline- 55 km.), located on the territory of the municipalities of Arzachena and Olbia, is rightfully considered one of the most exclusive and elite resorts in the world. Picturesque rocky hills, beautiful secluded harbors and snow-white beaches– a vacation spot for international stars, politicians, major entrepreneurs, and aristocracy.

Costa Smeralda is a “branded” toponym that defines not only the territory, but also the organization (Consortium) that manages it. Consorzio Costa Smeralda is a non-profit organization created back in 1962 by property owners in this region, to ensure the best development of the real estate, tourism and recreation market, while preserving the unique natural characteristics these places. Each investor purchasing real estate on the Costa Smeralda automatically becomes a member of the consortium with the right to participate in its bodies and in decision-making processes for further development.

For centuries, the territory of today's Costa Smeralda remained one of the wildest and most sparsely populated areas of Sardinia. Seclusion, scenic mountain landscapes and a clear sea are unattractive from the point of view of an agrarian society. Almost the only economic activity on the Costa Smeralda was sheep herding; There were no good road connections to the south of Sardinia. And given that the coasts and islands of the Costa Smeralda, then still called “Monti di Mola” (i.e. “Mountains of Millstones”), were often chosen by smugglers and Corsican pirates, it is not surprising that the Costa Smeralda was rightfully considered the periphery of Sardinia, a kind of outback on the coast.

The situation changed radically in the 60s of the twentieth century, when the millionaire and entrepreneur Prince Karim Aga Khan decided to create a VIP class resort area on this piece of Sardinia. At this time, the name “Costa Smeralda” itself was born, i.e. "Emerald Coast".

In fact, this stretch of the Sardinian coast was chosen as an ideal location for elite resort not without reason, namely because of the outstanding unique characteristics its territory and luxurious sea.

Since the mid-70s, Costa Smeralda begins its transformation into the most elite tourist destination Italy, successfully competing with the French Cote d'Azur. Today, thanks to the abundance of luxury hotels, boutiques of leading fashion brands and chic clubs, the Costa Smeralda is rightfully the chosen holiday destination of the international elite.

The center of the Costa Smaralda is the cozy town of Porto Cervo, with its famous Piazzetta and panoramic bay. Built with the participation of the famous architect Luigi Vietti, Porto Cervo blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape, and its low-rise buildings are made in the traditional Sardinian style. Tourist port Porto Cervo, one of the best in the entire Mediterranean, welcomes many luxury yachts and sailboats to its 700 berths every year.

In addition to Porto Cervo, on the territory of the Costa Smeralda there are several small resort areas - Cala di Volpe, Ramazzino, Piccolo Pevero, Pevero Golf, Pantoggia, Liscia di Vacca. In close proximity to the Costa Smeralda, although outside its formal boundaries, there is another famous resort - Porto Rotondo. The playful rivalry between the residents and guests of Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo, as well as between the two yacht clubs, renews itself with the beginning of each summer season.

Offers for seasonal rental of villas on the Costa Smeralda correspond to the status of the area. Here you can find the most exclusive (and expensive) rental properties, from cozy cottages with designer furnishings at the very edge of the water, to spacious villas with swimming pools and private parks for 8-10 or more Guests.

Costa Smeralda real estate corresponds to the status of this region. Magnificent designer villas, secluded parks, service the highest level, uncompromising quality – business card this beautiful corner of Sardinia.

Purchasing a house or villa on the Costa Smeralda is a perfect statement of the taste and status of the owner. Your neighbors will be " the mighty of the world this”, you will find yourself in the most exclusive club of connoisseurs of all the best. Fabulous yachts in the harbor of Porto Cervo, the rumble of powerful Ferraris and Lamborghinis on its streets, the soft rustling of rich toilets from Italian and French couturiers - this is the background of your holiday on the Costa Smeralda.
