The Ferris Wheel is now only in Sokolniki and Izmailovsky Park.

Without history and technical descriptions. Just feelings...

This happened once every few months, more often in the summer... For exemplary behavior and excellent grades, or when someone came to visit us with children, a holiday began... You look forward to the weekend as something special, since your parents PROMISED to take you to the park!

Any landmark for an amusement park is, of course, the Ferris Wheel, or popularly the Ferris Wheel... Every time you look at it with mixed feelings - it’s so HUGE... creepy... Many people were afraid of heights, and my parents told me to wait until I turned 14! So I waited until I was 14 with fear and delight!

The Ferris wheel is the King of attractions... Silently looking at the whole city...

I think everyone has heard about the horror story that someone you know is sure to get stuck on the Wheel, and if this happens, then no one will get you out of there for a very long time... So you will sit in the booth and crow :)

I had many favorite rides. The first one is Orbit. We called it Chamomile...

When the Orbit accelerated, its roar resembled the sound of a plane taking off jet plane... The vibration of the seat tickled the whole body... Adrenaline took over as I dived down... My legs touched tree branches...

A light version similar to Orbit...

Boats, of course! An adequate partner was needed to try to make the “sun” and hear the employee’s swearing!

Colors according to preference. The most interesting thing was to BRAKE! Strike the stand and hold on tight to the handrails due to the impact...

Illusion. In our words, “vomit”. I haven’t been to every park, I think only to major cities. We did not have…

Chain carousel (“Chain”). One of my favorites! You can swing and touch your neighbor with your feet, which cannot be done in Orbit :) Or you can spit at your hated classmate sitting behind you))

For smaller ones - “Sun”. I don’t know how the little ones felt on it, I never had a chance to ride it, I grew up by that time

Cabin Boy is also for small children, but I managed to do it too! Characteristically swayed like cutting through the waves

"Fun Hills" for all ages

Where would we be without the legendary children's Carousel! We called them “Horses”

What was the most important thing for the boy on the rides? Of course this is...

Ram everyone indiscriminately!

And naturally, the legend of our time is the Moskvich pedal car. I don’t remember how much it cost to ride it... But when I once couldn’t fit into it because I had grown up... That was my first disappointment in life!

I also remember this “Rocket”

Finally, a couple of photos with happy faces! There was an atmosphere of absolute childish happiness in the park...

And this is what most parks have turned into now... A sad picture...

A bygone era...

Although now there are much cooler attractions, THESE WERE SPECIAL...

This summer, Moscow authorities decided to get serious about amusement parks. By September, all 105 attractions will be dismantled in Gorky Park. In the Kuzminki and Izmailovo parks they plan to purchase new attractions for 100 million rubles. A large-scale reconstruction awaits the park at the All-Russian Exhibition Center. And in early August, Mayor Sobyanin returned to the issue of creating a “Russian Disneyland” in the capital, conceived by Nikita Khrushchev. While these projects remain on paper, The Village found out where to go on rides in Moscow, how much it costs and which of them are intended only for children.

The rides themselves are mainly of Italian and German origin, but are often assembled in factories in Belarus. If something breaks, parts must be ordered from the manufacturing country; they take several weeks to arrive.

M. SHAKHNAZAROV: What is the most popular attraction?

M. BACHENIN: The most popular in general and the most popular among new products. What is important now - speed, immersion somewhere or something else?

I. RODIONOV: There are classic rides that are always popular. These include a Ferris wheel, a chain carousel, bumper cars and, of course, a roller coaster. This is one of the most extreme attractions. We don’t have many of them, but in Western parks there are kilometer-long queues.

Read the full version of the “Forward” program with Igor Rodionov below and listen to the audio recording.

M. SHAKHNAZAROV: Good morning!

M. BACHENIN: Hello! Our guest is the vice-president of the Russian Association of Parks and Amusement Manufacturers, Igor Rodionov.

I. RODIONOV: Good morning!

M. Sh.: Masha, what was your favorite attraction as a child?

M.B.: The legendary attraction "Surprise", which was only allowed over a certain age. This is a round area, people stood along its radius...

M. Sh.: They strapped you in while standing, right?

M.B.: This is a strong word. There was a chain. The air flow pressed you against the wall, and then the attraction stood perpendicular to the ground. People couldn't stand it, but I adored it.

M. Sh.: Do you know what other analogue was in the Czech amusement park? The same attraction, only soft. He leaned over and people fell.

M.B.: What a nightmare. Are there such people now, Igor?

I.R.: Of course have. The Soviet legacy still remains in many parks.

M.B.: Isn’t it scary to climb and ride on this heritage?

I.R.: If the attraction has been checked by the relevant services and maintenance has been carried out, then it is safe.

M.B.: Are there any ride testers?

I.R.: Certainly. In our country today, in many regions, not a single attraction can be operated without special permission.

M.B.: It's clear. Are there people who put on a helmet, a protective suit and test it?

I.R.: There are such tests, but more often such extreme attractions are tested with the help of sandbags, and not with the help of living people.

M.B.: Sometimes you watch videos on the Internet about the creepiest roller coasters and others, almost a team of scientists must be working there. Is this really true? Or is everything done according to a template?

I.R.: Nobody specifically teaches such people, of course. People come to this themselves.

“If we compare amusement ride manufacturing with some other industries, today it is not mechanical engineering, but closer to space technology”

Because the accelerations, the technologies that are used in this area today are comparable to those in space.

M. Sh.: But there is such a thing as metal fatigue. So many years have already passed! Isn’t it dangerous to ride on Soviet heritage now? How long are the attractions designed for? What is the maximum period of use?

I.R.: It's very individual. This depends on the manufacturer, who sets the service life, usually with a margin. That is, after the end of this period, the operation of the attraction can be extended. Let's say there is a striking example in Moscow - the Ferris wheel in Izmailovsky Park, which is already 60 years old. And at the same time, the attraction is checked every year. If it's good, it continues to work. Therefore, service life is very individual. Let's say the Vienna Wheel is already more than 100 years old, it is already a landmark. There, of course, some improvements were made there, some components were changed, but the attraction is designed to last for quite a long time.

M. Sh.: What is the most popular attraction?

M.B.: The most popular in general and the most popular among new products. What is important now - speed, immersion somewhere or something else?

I.R.: There are classic rides that are always popular. These include a Ferris wheel, a chain carousel, bumper cars and, of course, a roller coaster. This is one of the most extreme attractions. We don’t have many of them, but in Western parks there are kilometer-long queues.

M. Sh.: Recently a friend got stuck on a Ferris wheel. How often do such cases happen?

I.R.: Happens periodically. As a rule, they end in nothing. That is, the Ferris wheel just stopped, this happens for various reasons...

M.B.: How are they filmed?

I.R.: The easiest way is that each Ferris wheel has a manual drive. And in manual mode, this wheel can be rotated and passengers removed. This is the safest way, but this applies to small wheels. Although the big wheel at VDNKh also had this technology. As a rule, an 80-meter Ferris wheel is completely evacuated in 7 minutes.

M.B.: What kind of technology? Rope ladders?

I.R.: No, the wheel is turned by hand.

M.B.: Even as big as at VDNKh?

I.R.: Yes, there is a special winch that allows you to do this.

M.B.: Which one is the best now? popular destination among amusement ride manufacturers?

I.R.: Specifically in the entertainment industry?

M.B.: Yes.

I.R.: Today, new formats of attractions are appearing on the market. 5D technologies are developing rapidly.

M. Sh.: Are these booths that sway?

I.R.: Cabins are already a passed stage; today, attractions are being created that combine roller coasters, 5D visualization, and animatronics, when some figures come to life. This is a whole show.

“Sometimes it even happens that you go on an attraction and don’t know what will happen to you.”

The attraction is made completely closed, there is some kind of prelude, and the rules of behavior are explained in some interesting manner. Then the journey into the unknown begins. And it should also be dedicated to some topic.

M.B.: Now you seem to be talking about a quest. Can a quest be classified as an attraction?

I.R.: Well, in a quest a lot depends on the participant himself. And if we are talking about a roller coaster, then here a person is buckled up, and he enjoys it.

M. Sh.: What about the overloads that people experience? Surely an unprepared person can remain in this chair forever.

I.R.: Thank God such cases are rare.

M. Sh.: What about heartbreak from fear? I was little in Riga in the Czech amusement park, where my grandmother and granddaughter went to the cave of fear. And the students earned extra money by lashing people in the face with a wet rag for five rubles a day. So they whipped the grandmother, and that’s how she came.

M.B.: Well, this is not morning news at all. Is the panic room popular now? Are they being made universal or are they being tested to see what people are ready for and what they are not?

I.R.: Of course, everything cannot be verified. The visitor himself knows what restrictions he has. If a visitor goes to an attraction while intoxicated, the operator can turn him around and tell him not to go. But if a person has problems with his heart or blood pressure, then only he himself can decide whether to go or not. Therefore, on each attraction, as a rule, there are instructions for visiting the attraction, where all these restrictions are indicated.

“As for overloads, this is also at the design stage, the design of the attraction is being laid. Moreover, Russia actually became the first in this regard, because manufacturers invented the same roller coasters, but did not understand whether to add a couple of loops or not, as a person with this will feel"

Therefore, in Russia today there are specialists who came from the space industry and introduced the topic of overloads. At one time, there was one such scandalous case in Japan, when a woman rode a roller coaster several times in a row, and a small hematoma formed in her head. Then one American congressman put this issue at the forefront of his election campaign. And eventually it began whole action- they began to check the attractions and introduce standards.

M. Sh.: Who is the world's largest manufacturer of amusement rides?

I.R.: I probably won’t name the only one.

M.B.: What about the country?

I.R.: This is, of course, the USA. But if we take big players like Disney, they produce attractions exclusively for their own parks. If we take Europe, today the trendsetters are Italy and Germany.

M. Sh.: Do the Chinese, Italians, and Germans make attractions?

I.R.: Sometimes it says “made in Italy”, but some Italian manufacturers have production facilities in China. But the quality is maintained. Today in Russia you can find either our Russian attractions or Italian ones.

M.B.: Why Italian? What famous park is there?

I.R.: In Italy, the most famous park is Mirabilandia, there are several more. But there are many manufacturers there, often family businesses.

M.B.: Is the panic room a thing of the past?

I.R.: No, it develops and becomes scarier. Today they try to make all horror films as real as possible. There is an attraction in the dark - a journey through the castle of horrors. Of course, this is a little naive, childish, you understand that all this is not real, but the technology and special effects themselves are impressive. So it's still relevant and considered a family attraction.

M.B.: When can we expect an amusement park in our capital? They say it will appear by 2017. What world-class attractions will be there? I dream of the Swedish catapult and free fall. Will we have something amazing?

I.R.: Of course, but not by 2017. The project for the first theme amusement park in Moscow, “Childhood Island,” has been announced, but God willing, it will be implemented in 2018-2019. And considering weather, most of the time it will be located under the roof. This business requires year-round operation of attractions, so all large parks are, as a rule, located in warm latitudes. And our park will be indoor. The concept of our project retains all the requirements of a classic amusement park, but the point here is not even what kind of attractions there will be, but in the approach itself.

“Island of Childhood” is planned to be themed; there will be several thematic zones: “Count Dracula”, “The Snow Queen”, “Shrek”. "Soyuzmultfilm" zone is also planned"

And in each zone there will be some kind of attractions, but which ones specifically are still unknown. Maybe some kind of roller coaster, maybe a 5D ride. This is a developer secret for now.

M. Sh.: Igor, amusement parks are popular among the Dutch. They come to Thailand, to Spain, to the Baltics, to Scandinavia. And each attraction belongs to a specific family. Is it popular now or will it fade away over time?

I.R.: Luna parks are preserved because not every city has amusement parks. That's why mobile amusement parks exist. But, of course, in the 90s they were more popular.

M. Sh.: IN Soviet time Mostly we went to Czech and Polish amusement parks. They came for the summer, staked out the site and entertained people. There were prizes there that our kids never dreamed of.

M.B.: They went for these prizes - chewing gum, stickers.

M. Sh.: On Monday they had a day off for maintenance. You had to go up to the director of the amusement park, talk, and all this was selling perfectly - both children's cars and Czech crystal. Therefore, it was impossible to win.

M.B.: Now in the parks great amount entertainment, activities - whatever suits your needs. But you leave the park with an empty wallet, as if from a store high fashion. Does anyone regulate pricing in these organized leisure centers? After all, you also want to eat, but the prices there - dear mother.

I.R.: The goal of any amusement park is to keep visitors in the park for as long as possible, so that you can have fun, buy food, and go to a show.

“You actually formulated the goal of this business: the time spent in the park is directly proportional to the money you spend there.”

M.B.: I'm just afraid that parks will become entertainment for the rich.

I.R.: No, family park entertainment is still always aimed at the middle class. Therefore, the owners of these attractions understand how much a family of three or four people is willing to spend. The owners themselves regulate the pricing policy.

M. Sh.: Now they mostly sell tickets in packages, like in the States.

I.R.: We are just introducing a single ticket; the visitor does not yet understand what it is. The only park where this system operates is Sochi Park. This is the first theme park entertainment.

M. Sh.: I was there last year in May. But I wouldn't say it's really great.

I.R.: It is developing. But even last year, in August-September, the park launched new facilities. Of course, our visitor still needs to be taught what an amusement park is. Few of us have been to Disneyland and don’t understand what it’s like to pay 2,000 rubles for admission ticket and what a person will get for this money. And a foreign visitor understands that this will be a show, attractions, and fun. Therefore, we are introducing a single ticket very carefully for now. And so - you have to buy a ticket for each attraction.

M. Sh.: But batches are more convenient.

I.R.: It's profitable.

M.B.: For example, you arrive at some tourist centre and buy a London Pass, which allows you to go everywhere. There is currently an exhibition at the British Museum, entry costs sixteen and a half pounds, and with this card you save a lot.

M. Sh.: With a press card you are allowed everywhere in Europe.

I.R.: Unfortunately, they are not allowed into the parks.

M.B.: Can we say that each park in Moscow has its own special feature?

I.R.: Probably possible. Although when Gorky Park was reconstructed at one time, it was presented as such a standard, but, as you know, all the attractions were removed from it. They are no longer there.

“They decided to return Gorky Park to the appearance it had in Soviet times. Although in Soviet times there were always attractions there, there was such an inconsistency here.”

M.B.: What's your favorite park?

I.R.: In Moscow?

M.B.: Yes.

I.R.: I really like Sokolniki Park. And I’m still breathing unevenly towards VDNKh.

The city park has five attractions: a carousel, a Ferris wheel, an autodrome, “Romashka” and “Merry shooting gallery”. Six types of tickets are sold at the box office, each of which allows you to visit one or two attractions. Information on ticket prices is presented in the table.

Andrey wants to visit all five attractions, but only has 900 rubles available. What types of tickets should he buy?

Solution.

Andrey must visit the carousel attraction, so there are 2 options - take either a second ticket or a fifth. If you take a second ticket, you won’t have enough money for all the attractions. If we take the fifth one, then taking both of the cheapest tickets (1 and 3) we will get to all the attractions, spending exactly 900 rubles.

Mikhail decided to visit the Amusement Park. Information about tickets for attractions is presented in the table. Some tickets allow you to visit two attractions at once.

Using the table, select tickets so that Mikhail visits all four attractions: the Ferris wheel, the fear room, the laughter room, the racetrack, and the total cost of the tickets does not exceed 900 rubles.

In your answer, indicate any one set of ticket numbers without spaces, commas or other additional characters.

Solution.

Mikhail must visit the Autodrome attraction; there are 3 options - take either the second, fifth, or sixth ticket. If we take the second ticket, then there will be enough money for all attractions, taking into account the fact that we will take both of the cheapest tickets (1 and 3). If we take the fifth ticket, then we will get on all the attractions if we take the first ticket. If we take the sixth ticket, there won’t be enough money for all the attractions.
