Yalta autumn. When is the best time to go on vacation to Yalta? Hotel "Rotunda" invites you to Crimea for the velvet season

Pearl of Great Price Crimean peninsula, important tourist centre and popular sea resort-Yalta located on the picturesque southern coast of Crimea. Find out on the Tour Calendar why the end of spring, the first days of summer and the first month of autumn are the ideal time to relax in Yalta.

Tourist season in Yalta

In the past, Yalta was the favorite summer residence of the rich aristocracy and Russian princes, who left the city a good legacy in the form of royal palaces and luxurious estates. During the Soviet period, the city was also held in high esteem; it was considered the largest Crimean health resort. Today Yalta is a popular seaside city, the recognized capital of the southern coastal resorts of Crimea, the region Big Yalta. People come here for quality beach holiday, health improvement and its dose of vitamin D. Stunning nature and the high status of an ecological resort made Yalta popular not only among immigrants from the USSR, but also among Europeans. The tourist season here lasts from late May to late October.

High season

The high season begins in Yalta with the onset of the first summer month. Yalta itself is a small city, about 100 thousand people live in it, but during the peak season this figure increases by 1.5-2 times. Higher percentage vacationers are Russians, and very few are foreigners. At this time in Yalta you can meet both your school friend and a Russian show business star. The latter fact is not surprising in light of the fact that after the annexation of Crimea to Russia, local authorities are trying to diversify the cultural calendar of the city in order to attract tourists from Russia. Prices in summer in Yalta are steep. Cost of rooms in hotels and apartments in high season, officially lasting here for the first two weeks of May, as well as from the beginning of July to the end of August and the first two weeks of January, increases by 20% - 50%, less often - 100%. Private sector- a good alternative to hotels in high season, although seasonal price fluctuations are also typical for private offers.

Low season

The decline in tourist activity comes with the closure of city beaches, i.e. in the beginning of November. Not a trace remains of the bustling seaside life. An atmosphere of regularity and general calm reigns. People who worked all season are sent on a well-deserved rest. Of course, as in any popular city, the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays promises some kind of revival, but it quickly passes along with the end of the winter holidays.

Beach season in Yalta

The swimming season in Yalta begins in early June, when the water temperature warms up to 19 °C. Although the beaches begin to function at the end of May, it is pleasant to sunbathe under the rays of the still gentle sun at this time. In July and August, the water warms up to 23 °C - 24 °C, but the sea winds blowing during this period sometimes bring currents to the shore cold water. The temperature of these streams can range from 12°C to 15°C, making the water too cold for swimming. But, as a rule, after a few days the water temperature reaches its previous comfortable levels. In summer Yalta beaches can be called overpopulated. The swimming season here lasts until the end of September.

The Velvet season

September is the time to enjoy the gifts of autumn "velvet"

The velvet season in Yalta is a magical time: the relentless heat subsides, but the water still remains warm - about 21 °C - 22 °C. Yes and free space on the beach - much more. As a rule, “Indian summer” in Yalta lasts a whole month. But sometimes the first half of October also fits this period.

Best time for excursions

Palace and park complexes, nature reserves, temples and cathedrals are just a small part of what can be seen in Yalta and its surroundings. The main thing is that the weather is conducive to visiting all these sights. Summer heat in this case, it is not a helper, but a serious obstacle. That is why it is better to plan the excursion program for May and September, when it is warm, not hot and there are relatively few tourists.

It's time for holidays and festivals

Yalta is rich in various festivals and holidays, especially in tourist season. Since 1987, the city has hosted one of the largest art song festivals - “Winter Yalta”, named after Arthur Grigoryan. The festival is a non-profit, non-political event that attracts many interesting performers. Entry is free for everyone. The paper airplane festival, which began with a flash mob, dedicated to the day cosmonautics, is now held annually on April 12 on the Yalta embankment. From June 5 to 12, Yalta and Simferopol become venues for the Great Russian Word festival. At this time, literary readings, performances, music concerts, and conferences are held at almost all cultural venues in the city. At the end there is a concert with the participation of famous performers. City Day takes place in Yalta from August 12 to 14. As part of the celebration, many popular cultural places such as the historical and literary museum and the Glade of Fairy Tales are open to free admission. The entire city area becomes the stage for the holiday. Musical concerts, various shows, performances, and children's programs end with a grandiose fireworks display. From 5 to 11 September the city hosts international festival theatrical art "Theater.Chekhov.Yalta". As part of this cultural event, theater troupes present their best productions based on the works of great Russian classics to the jury and audience. "Yalta summer jam" is an event that attracts representatives of the most fashionable street dance styles to the city. Dance competitions and master classes are held from July 12 to 17. Since 2016, Yalta has also become the host of the newly established international film festival "Eurasian Bridge", which runs from September 30 to October 5. According to the organizers, the program of screenings should include films that have won prizes in various competitions, promoting the ideas of humanism and universal values. Yalta also hosts music festivals: "Native Harbor" - a festival of choral art (from October 6 to October 10), "Symphony south coast", is held on the first weekend of August in the village of Massandra. The events listed are the most significant and largest; if desired, a more specific event calendar should be checked using local posters.

Climate in Yalta

Yalta lies in the subtropical zone, the climate type is Mediterranean, similar to the climate in Italian Genoa or French Nice. As such, there are no clearly defined climatic seasons here. There is only a warm period, lasting from April to October, and a cold period, from November to April. The unique microclimate of Yalta, created by the rich flora, proximity of the mountains and the warm, gentle sea, has a healing effect on the body.

Yalta in spring

Spring comes late to Yalta. And all because of the sea that has cooled down over the winter, which has big influence on climate processes. Only in the second half of April is there significant warming, but the nights still remain cool. It rains from time to time, but the sun still dominates. This is the time of active flowering, the hillsides are covered with lush greenery, and a slightly perceptible aroma of pine needles hovers in the salty air from the sea. In May, summer confidently comes into its own in Yalta. Just a little bit and it will start swimming season.

Yalta in summer

Summer in Yalta is hot, but the oppressive heat is relieved by cool sea breezes. There is practically no precipitation. The nights tend to be cool. Maximum air temperatures, which sometimes reach extremes of 30 °C and 31 °C, are observed in July and August. As for the sea, even at the height of the season, the water temperature does not exceed 24 °C - 25 °C. Sometimes cold currents occur, “paralyzing” the beach life of the resort for several days. As a rule, you can swim already on the 3rd - 4th day after the arrival of such currents.

Yalta in autumn

Autumn in Yalta is a soft and warm time. The first month is completely devoted to the Velvet season. The timid breath of autumn can be felt from the second half of October, when precipitation gains intensity. However, most days are sunny. The sea has been stormy for the last month. The nights become noticeably cool.

Many people like to relax when the heat subsides and the flow of tourists subsides. Therefore, Yalta in the fall attracts fans of a leisurely and comfortable pastime. At the very beginning of autumn, the weather is not much different from summer, so you can sunbathe under the gentle rays of the sun and swim in the still warm sea. Subsequently, the gradually decreasing temperature is more conducive to walks around the city and surrounding areas and excursion trips.

In September in Yalta it is still comfortable on the free beaches, including Massandra, Primorsky and Pribrezhny. For a small fee, you can play table tennis on the slides and trampolines. All the beaches are surrounded by many catering establishments, so it is very problematic to remain hungry.

Yalta is also good in autumn

The beaches of Big Yalta are surrounded by a ridge Crimean mountains which come close to the sea. On the western coast from Foros to Cape Ai-Todor (with the Swallow's Nest), picturesque cliffs alternate with coves with clear and clean water. So no one will be left without their own piece of the beach. Moreover, the weather allows you to extend the swimming season.

Autumn is a great time to improve your health in local sanatoriums and boarding houses. The beauty of such treatment is the low fee, for which patients have the opportunity to take advantage of all available means and methods of treatment. Many sanatoriums are located in buildings that previously served summer residences nobility and wealthy people. But all Soviet buildings are beautifully landscaped and located on the coast or in a park area.

Conducive to a pleasant acquaintance with numerous attractions. Famous castle bird home seems to be hovering over the Black Sea, and Vorontsov Palace invites you to climb the stairs and see the panorama of the city from above.

The Nikitsky Botanical Garden in autumn Yalta is still blooming and fragrant with its green “inhabitants” of unprecedented beauty, and the Yalta and Cape Martyan nature reserves invite you to stroll in the shade of evergreens.

In warm weather, you can take a photo against the backdrop of the sparkling fountain Night in Gurzuf in the Gurzuf Park or join those enchanted by the sea beauty while walking along the city embankment. The kids will be delighted with a trip to the aquatic and zoo, to the Glade of Fairy Tales.

In the fall, Yalta offers you to take advantage of the routes, which have different levels of difficulty. The Tsar's Path will lead along to the Livadia Palace, and the Botkinskaya Path will give you the healing properties of the Crimean climate.

Yalta, budget holiday

Discovered in Yalta budget holiday. On Sverdlov Street there is a capsule hostel "Lime". The location is favorable. Embankment in walking distance. I was pleased with the cozy atmosphere and cleanliness. Comfortable bed. You should stop at the description of the capsule itself, because... This is a new placement format for me. Equipment: ventilation, lamp, socket, hooks for clothes, mirror. There is also an iron, hair dryer, and washing machine.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. I recommend.

We vacationed in July 2018. The accommodation is exactly as advertised (including photographs). The house is located very conveniently, everything is within walking distance (beach, embankment, bus station, market, stops public transport, shops), 10-15 minutes slowly. At the same time, peace and quiet, absence of city noise. The rooms, the kitchen, the veranda, the area in front of the house - everything is organized very comfortably, with care. I even spent the night on the street - great! Water (hot, cold) regularly, without restrictions, the kitchen has everything you need. The owners, Victor and Nadezhda, are responsive, prudent, and always ready to help. Victor has a wealth of experience in hiking in Crimea, he will advise and explain on this topic, if you are interested, then you are here (and is generally a pleasant conversationalist). Rosa Ivanovna is a caring, intelligent woman. During the Great Patriotic War I was already of conscious age, so there is something to listen to (what is called first-hand). We had a wonderful time, this is the place where you want to return. Thank you.

My impressions of the trip to Yalta

On the first day of our stay (09/15/2018) it was warm but cloudy. We walked along the embankment in the rain and went into a wine store to buy Massandra wine to try. I will say that it is better to buy this wine in a supermarket, it is cheaper there. We settled in the city center in an apartment on Sverdlova Street. In general, we were pleased with the accommodation. In any case, it is cheaper than living in a hotel. You can cook it yourself. You could walk to the beach in just 3 minutes. Massandra beach, located nearby, turned out to be the best. Beautiful, clean and, most importantly, quiet. There is no this annoying hammering music. We found a wonderful steel shop on Sadovaya Street "7th", it seems. Real homemade food and not very expensive. For two it was about 600 rubles. Transport is also available. You can drive or swim to the point you need. I would like to note that if you want to ride the Ai-Petri funicular, it is open until 17:00. We were late))) In general, we were pleased with the trip. Good luck!

Wonderful!

All is cool! We rented a two-room studio apartment and really liked it! The bedroom has a huge bed with an incredibly comfortable mattress! In the second room there is a sofa and a kitchen, there is even a washing machine. The balcony is large, spacious, surrounded by relict trees. A squirrel often came straight to our balcony along a branch! The owners are very nice people, they always help with everything and are responsive. Great, we will only come here from now on!

At the age of 70 I came to Yalta for the first time. The air, sea, mountains are impressive. I started to forget about inhalers. But a lot of things are reminiscent of the Moscow region and Moscow of the late 90s and early 2000s. An abundance of advertisements posted everywhere possible. There are attempts to combat this, but so far not very successful. It seems that many who post up pieces of paper wherever they can do not know about the Internet. There are a lot of Shanghai markets, the underground passages are so crowded with traders that it is difficult to get through. I’m not talking about spontaneous trading on the streets; they can’t eliminate it in Moscow either. And does it need to be completely removed? There is a lot of garbage on the streets. I walk along the street almost every day. Khalturin and in places it’s like you’re walking through a landfill. I would like to wish success to the residents and city authorities in restoring order in the city.

Happy holiday!

Great location. Everything is nearby: the embankment, the beach, shops, the market, and a transport stop. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. It's cool in the heat. The courtyard is quiet and calm. Children play during the day, but do not interfere with rest at all. In general, we are satisfied with our vacation.

Yalta is one of the largest, and also, as you know, not very cheap resorts, but usually in the summer season :-) I was lucky enough to get there during my hike along the South Coast in November! The weather was still very warm and clear, many even swam in the sea (I was no exception)! I got to Yalta by transport from the village of Goncharnoye, not far from Balaklava, where I was lucky enough to get sick after swimming in a 16-degree sea and severely strained my muscles after climbing rocks. Therefore, once in a beautiful resort city, it was necessary to check into any hotel. They took me straight to the central embankment and right there I managed to rent a beautiful hotel room for only 1000 rubles per day! This was the biggest surprise for me. I am sure that in the summer this room will cost 2-3 times more. Very clean city, people are incredibly sympathetic, kind, measured, such people throughout Crimea are not an exception, but rather a pattern. Walking along the embankment and improving my health, I could not breathe in the magnificent sea air, which for some reason seemed special to me in Yalta. I wanted to endlessly peer into the depths of the blue sea, at the mountain ranges on the horizon. I myself became calm, measured, let’s say, satisfied with everything that was happening around me, because there is such an atmosphere there, such a mood, such a life there! Of course, there is not much entertainment there at this time of year, there are no tourists, there is no one to work for, restaurants, cafes, bars are also mostly empty, but those who come with specific purposes will not be disappointed! In Crimea, in general, there is always something to do at any time of the year, not the sea, but excursions, sightseeing, just walking along the embankment, going to interesting shops, climbing rocks. All this is Yalta, all this is the magnificent Crimea!

Chrysanthemums - “Prom Queens” in Crimea in November

Welcome to the Chrysanthemum Ball!

Low-growing border varieties are the first to open the Chrysanthemum Ball in Crimea. Following them, small-flowered and large-flowered ones bloom. The names chosen for chrysanthemums only emphasize their grace and uniqueness: “Egyptian”, “Fantasy”, “Golden Hair”, “Robin”, “Snow White”, “Teddy Bear”, “Window to Moscow”, “Petal Rain” and others .

The culmination of the holiday is the selection of the “Prom Queen”, the chrysanthemum that won the largest number of hearts. While walking around the garden, try to choose your favorite - it will be nice if your intuition does not let you down.

Also, anyone can send greetings from the chrysanthemum exhibition. For this purpose, they are installing on the territory of Nikitsky Garden mailboxes and sell postcards.

During the flowering period of chrysanthemums, an atmosphere reigns in the garden that brings people together and distracts them from everyday problems. Someone will argue that the Nikitsky Botanical Garden pleases with “balls” at any time of the year; you don’t have to wait until November to enjoy the beauty of the flowers. And he will be right: in April tulips bloom in the garden, in May - irises, in June and September - roses, etc.

The “Chrysanthemum Ball” in Crimea won hearts because on the eve of winter it is especially important to preserve the last autumn colors in the soul. They will keep you warm until spring and until the next flowering.
