After all, a wealthy tourist or well-to-do traveler is much more attractive to London than the average Russian. In addition, a visa may be refused for various reasons:

    1. The questionnaire was filled out inaccurately, unreliably, and carelessly.
    2. One of the submitted documents was found to be unreliable.
    3. The package of documents as a whole does not meet the requirements.
    4. The applicant did not comply with the regime on previous trips.
    5. Doubts arose as to the applicant's identity and status.

In such situations, the applicant will be denied a visa. But this should not be a reason to abandon your intention to travel to the United Kingdom. If the documents are submitted correctly, applicants have every chance of having their application reviewed positively. You need to fill out the documents correctly, and seek the help of experts if you do not have proper knowledge of English. The more documents are collected confirming solvency and financial security, the higher the likelihood of receiving a positive response to the application.

In case of repeated application, the time for the consulate to make a decision will be reduced significantly.

In the future, if necessary, it will be possible to obtain a two-year visa and even a five-year one, which will allow you to travel regular trips to England as often as you like.

When you travel with a group on a tour package, you lose the main thing - orientation in space. When you go by yourself, you always immediately understand whether this is your place or not. Having traveled almost all of Europe in bus tours, now I understand that once again in Paris, M...

Instructions for tourists, Active recreation, Travel report to Great Britain, London; UK, Edinburgh

I decided to extend the June holidays with an independent week-long trip that I had long dreamed of - through London to Scotland. I planned the entire trip myself, and it turned out unforgettable. Interesting, rich, and largely unexpected. I highly recommend visiting the UK. You need to see this country in your life. It is not like the rest of Europe, it is not like any other country in the world, and all its former colonies are also different from it. It is different even in its own cities.

I won’t describe my every day in detail. I will give only brief instructions on each step of planning a trip. This is the main thing for those who are thinking of deciding on such a voyage.

AIR TICKETS

To London: I bought the cheapest tickets for June 10 2 weeks in advance on AeroSvit airline. Ticket price - 11,500 rubles (round trip). The price is small, but transit through Kyiv with a long stop (12 hours). My advice: if a connecting ticket is cheaper direct flight for less than 6,000 rubles, and you don’t dream of visiting Kyiv, Riga or Amsterdam (with additional expenses), buy a direct flight. I had to spend the night in Kyiv. One hotel booked in Boryspil (not far from the Kyiv airport) called ALTARIS did not even check me in, allegedly their prices had changed, and they could not accept me based on the booked documents from Booking. All in all, this hotel, and in general, I don’t recommend a transplant in Ukraine to anyone. But if the price differs significantly from other airlines, then fly with Ukrainian AeroSvit. In general, their planes are good.

To Edinburgh (the capital of Scotland): flights within Britain are cheap. There is no comparison with our flights around Russia. An easyjet London-Edinburgh-London ticket was purchased on their website for £60. The price is not the cheapest since the flight is in the evening. You can fly for 50 pounds if the earliest flight is at 6 am. The airline is very decent, tickets are given without a seat, you can choose any seat on the plane. Meals and luggage are not included in the price, and are not needed if the flight is only an hour and for a couple of days.

I wrote about obtaining a visa in my previous post. Again, I recommend only one thing - to obtain a visa yourself a month before the trip. It's actually very simple and saves you money.

In London:

I recommend the good hostel Palmers Lodge (Swiss Cottage metro station). A wonderful mansion with a beautiful interior, free internet cafe, good breakfast. The price for a bed in a 6-bed female room is 22 pounds per day (1100 rubles). Cheaper in a room with big amount people of both sexes. But I didn’t dare to go to a crowded hostel. This hostel is very pleasant, there is an opportunity to communicate with people from all over the world and practice English. I regret that I only stayed there for a day, and on the way back from Scotland I moved to a single room in another hotel.

This beautiful mansion is occupied by the Palmers Lodge hostel - a wonderful hotel designed for travelers, students and their parents.

Hotels in London are very expensive. And finding a single room in the city center is not easy. I managed to find the Holly House hotel near Victoria Station for 2,500 rubles per night. Great location close to the metro and many attractions. But the hotel is one star! This means not the best service, old furniture, bad breakfast. The hotel is staffed exclusively by Indians in their own casual clothes. For a stay for a couple of days, I recommend the hotel to those flying into Gatwick or Luton airport, because... from the express train to the hotel 5 minutes walk!

There are 1* hotels on HUGE STREET in central London (rooms from £45)

In Edinburgh:

Edinburgh is a city with stunning historical architecture. Be sure to visit Edinburgh. Stay in mansion hotels or even castles. I lived in a 7-room mansion near the center for 1,300 rubles per day (single room!). Edinburgh Thistle Guest House is small, cute and truly Scottish. With a view from the window on miniature mansions of past eras, on a clean park, next to bus stop for a 5-minute ride to the city center.

Beautiful view from the window of a small room at the Edinburgh Thistle Guest House

TRANSPORT

London has perhaps the most expensive transport in the world. A tourist card for the metro and buses for 7 days costs 35 pounds (1,750 rubles). It's only for a week! So stock up on funds to travel on double-decker buses and subways. A taxi (black English cab) is a very expensive form of transport; it will cost you no less than 80 pounds to get you from the airport, and around the city from 10 pounds for a short distance.

Aeroexpress to Gatwick airport - 18 pounds, express bus to Luton - 17 pounds. It's one way only. In general, the road from the airport and back requires serious investment.

Transport in Edinburgh is cheaper. Taxi from the airport - 20 pounds. Bus from the airport - 3.5 pounds (180 rubles) - the price is the most divine. Buses around the city - 1.4 pounds (75 rubles), a day pass 3.5 pounds (180 rubles). If you know the city, take a day pass, even though the city is small, you can get lost.

In general, you need to budget 100 pounds (5,000 rubles) for transport per week.

WHERE TO GO

In London: Westminster tube station with the main attractions around it (Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey), book an afternoon tea ceremony at one of the restaurants at http://www.afternoontea.co.uk/ (from £9), take a walk on Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly, the main central streets (Oxford Street, Bond Street, Baker Street), Soho and Mayfair, Camden Town market, residential areas of Chelsea and Kensington, go for a run in the royal Hyde Park.

In Edinburgh: Edinburgh Castle (very easy to find, a unique building on a rock in the very center of the city), the Royal Mile - a tourist street with very narrow unique streets, Princess Street - the most pedestrian street in Edinburgh with many shops, a whiskey museum and a souvenir shop, itself The city is unique and calm. If you want to live in the 19th century, this is definitely the place for you!
