Petronas Twin Towers. Petronas Towers How old are the Petronas Twin Towers

Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur or Petronas Twin Towers is the main attraction of the capital of Malaysia and the symbol of the city. These famous towers-twins are a must see in Kuala Lumpur. We will not burden you with history and facts, but will tell you how to get to Petronas, what is interesting there and where to see the fountains.

Briefly about the main thing. The Petronas Towers were built in 1998 and are currently the tallest twin towers in the world. Height 450 meters, 88 floors. You can read more about the history of the towers on the Wikipedia website.

Petronas Towers can be seen from any area in Kuala Lumpur

Petronas Towers: what to see

It's interesting to see the Petronas Twin Towers from the ground and appreciate the scale. You can walk around the skyscrapers from different sides; they look amazing from any angle. To begin with, you can look at them from the eastern side near the metro exit.

Close-up view of the bridge between the KLCC buildings, which can be walked across on tours

There are always a lot of tourists here, everyone is trying to take good photographs, but due to the height of the skyscrapers, they hardly fit into the frame. I'll tell you a secret - it's best to take photos with the Petronas in the background from the park, which is located behind the towers.

We have a couple of photos with the towers in the background from this side when they came all the way in

What's inside the towers

On the lower floors there is a Suria KLCC shopping center and a Cold Storage supermarket. At the top offices. The lower floors of the shopping center are available to visitors, as well as the science museum and access to the observation decks for an additional fee.

How much does it cost to climb the Petronas Towers?

You can climb the towers for 85 ringit per person ($20). This is a guided tour with a group lasting approximately 1 hour. The program includes a walk along the Skybridge between the towers, and then an observation deck on the 86th floor. There is no independence on the excursion. Such excursions are held every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., except Mondays and holidays.

Where can I order a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience In this article

Park near the Petronas Towers

On the western side there is a nice park with ponds, fountains, benches, playgrounds and a free swimming pool for children. Here you can relax on a hot day, take photos of Petronas Towers from better angles, and watch the fountain show in the evening.

The view of the city from the towers is also good. In the evening these fountains will be beautifully illuminated

Fountain show

The singing fountains are on from 19:00 to 22:00. There are different numbers performed approximately every 30 minutes. We watched the show several times. Beauty! It's worth the wait. Although, not all shows are very impressive, but we were lucky. Watch excerpts from the show in the video below.

It is difficult to assess the effect of the fountains from the photo. Watch a short video:

How to get to Petronas Towers

Metro. KLCC station. Exit the metro and the towers will be immediately in front of you. There are many exits from the metro, but if you're lucky, you can go straight to the Suriya shopping center, which is located under the towers. There are other options to get to Petronas, for example by bus, but we recommend not to fool around and take the metro, which is very inexpensive in Kuala Lumpur.

One more... or rather a couple :-)

Before the Petronas Towers, the tallest building was the Sears Towers in Chicago with its 443 meters. At first, the Malaysians did not even set a goal to break this record. But appetite comes with eating, so the vertical race began towards the end of construction.

On the site where the towers now stand, the Selangor Hippodrome was opened in 1896, but on weekends, during racing days, there were such traffic jams on the road that the city authorities moved the hippodrome outside the city. There were many plans for the reconstruction of this territory, which was very attractive to developers.

The cost of this piece of land even then was hundreds of millions of ringgit (Malaysian dollars). The development project for this vast territory took several years, as the financial interests of many government and commercial structures were affected. At first, it was planned to build a huge park on the site of the hippodrome, intended to become the “lungs” of the capital of Malaysia. However, preliminary estimates showed that the park can only be developed and maintained through commercial activities. Therefore, they decided to design a business center with a park, expand highways around the park, and build an easy transit railway line. When designing the Malaysian Twins, it was not intended that they would become the tallest structure in the world.

Eight architectural studios participated in the tender for the construction of the Petronas Towers. The competition was won by an American of Argentine origin, Cesar Pelli. It was he who designed another famous skyscraper - the World Trade Center in New York. In his works, Pelli always took into account national characteristics the country where he built. So he designed the Petronas Towers based on Muslim motives (the majority of the Malaysian population professes Islam). The base of the Petronas Towers is shaped like an eight-pointed star - one of the symbols of Muslim culture. The buildings are also crowned with domes that vaguely resemble the outlines of mosques.

Pelley completed hundreds of mock-ups of the Petronas Towers before creating the final one. Designing the windows alone required dozens of paper models. As a result, the project was ready, and construction itself began in 1992.

The foundation of the Petronas Towers was laid at a depth of more than 100 meters - this is the largest concrete foundation in the world. There really was enough concrete here - for three days, it was poured into the base of the skyscraper every 90 seconds. In total, 13,200 cubic meters of high-strength concrete were used for the foundation of each of the towers. And so that high-rise buildings do not tilt, like Leaning Tower of Pisa, 16 23-meter piles were inserted into the foundation. Practice has shown that the Petronas Towers are not afraid of even strong Malaysian hurricanes. The skyscrapers will stand even if three of the 16 piles collapse.

The frame of the buildings themselves was made of steel structures, the total weight of which reaches almost 37 thousand tons. The Petronas Towers were then glazed with tinted windows to protect against the tropical heat. There are a total of 32 thousand windows, with a total area of 77 square meters.

The towers have no central core and no extra space. When installing elevators in a limited space, they used an ingenious principle: the elevators were made two-story, two in each shaft: one stops only on even floors, passing odd ones, the other, accordingly, only on odd ones.

The towers can stand even if three of the sixteen supporting columns are lost. Additional safety is provided by the air bridge, mounted on giant ball bearings, since the towers sway and the bridge cannot be rigidly fixed.

Approximately in the middle of the Petronas Towers connects unique bridge Skybridge. It is now considered the highest double-decker bridge in the world.

On August 9, 1995, a unique bridge was installed at the level of the 41st and 42nd floors of the Petronas Towers, connecting the two skyscrapers. According to the architect Pelli, its construction is not only functional, but also symbolic. The light, graceful bridge connecting the Petronas Towers with each other was designed and built in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries. It was then dismantled into 493 parts with a total weight of 452.64 tons and transported to Malaysia in the summer of 1995. In Kuala Lumpur, at the construction site, the bridge was assembled first on the ground and then raised to the top. The central section of the bridge consisted of 307 parts. The main part of its structure has a length of 41 m, a width of 5 m, a height of 9 m, and a weight of 325 tons. The two supporting beams of the bridge have a length of 42.6 m, each of them weighs 60 tons. Special shock absorbers were designed especially for these beams and passed many tests for wind resistance, since they compensate for the effect of wind on high altitude. The other two blocks are designed to strengthen the bridge at its ends, each of them is 8.3 m long and weighs 30 tons. The total weight of all bridge structures was 750 tons, it was assembled over three days and three nights.

By the way, the Petronas Towers Bridge has twice become a “movie star”. The first time was in the film "Trap" with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones. And the second one is in our “Apocalypse Code”. It was from this bridge that Anastasia Zavorotnyuk’s stunt double jumped. Moreover, during the jump, the stuntwoman's parachute caught on one of the power lines, cutting off power to an entire block of Kuala Lumpur.

Almost all the interior spaces of the Petronas Towers have very high ceilings; on some floors there are original attics, further expanding the space. The Petronas Towers are also famous for their elevators. There are as many as 76 freight and passenger lifts. Most of them are two-story. That is, the first tier of the elevator stops only on the odd-numbered floors of the Towers, and the second on the even-numbered floors. In addition, the elevators are divided into groups. For example, some run only up to the 16th floor, others travel between the middle ones, and to get to the very top, on the 41st floor you need to change over the bridge. Petronas elevators are considered one of the safest in the world. They are very spacious - each cabin can accommodate 52 people. A few years ago they were also improved in terms of speed: now climbing to the top floor of the Petronas Towers takes only one and a half minutes.

In total, about $1.6 billion was spent on the construction of the Petronas Towers. The main sponsor was Petronas itself, whose offices entirely occupy one of the towers. Local oil and media tycoon Anand Krishan took on a significant portion of the costs. He organized a large-scale PR campaign for the skyscrapers - even before the completion of construction, various goods with the logo of the future high-rises were sold to tourists. As a result, his company MIA Holdings also took over part of the Petronas Towers offices. Now the headquarters of many other famous companies are located here, such as Microsoft, Boeing, IBM, Al Jazeera English.

On the ground floor of the Petronas Towers there is concert hall for 840 seats, as well as art Gallery. There is also a six-level shopping center with a spherical roof, which is visited by 650 thousand people a week. Local attractions include the Gasoline Museum.

In addition, the city authorities kept their promise and a huge park appeared around the Petronas Towers. There is a children's pool, many sports grounds, attractions and fountains. A mosque and a local philharmonic hall were also built in the area adjacent to the skyscrapers, where most of the notable cultural events take place.

As the Petronas Towers grew taller, builders wondered if they should break the world record. But in the end, the skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur turned out to be 88 storeys, and were inferior to the 110-storey Sears Towers by more than 65 meters. But then the resourceful Malaysians decided to attach spiers to the towers, each 73.5 meters high. Thanks to this trick, the Petronas Towers snatched the treasured 7 meters from their American competitor.

But the Petronas Towers height record was maintained only until 2003. Immediately after construction, both Australians and the same Americans joined the high-altitude race. The championship again belongs to Asia. In 2003, Taiwan's Taipei 101 soared 508 meters into the air. However, it did not hold the first place in the Top of High-Rises for long. Currently, the tallest building in the world is the Burj Dubai Tower in the UAE. Moreover, the Arabs apparently have acquired a taste for high-rise construction. Next up is a new tower – Al Burj; in the project its height should reach 1200 meters. Against this background, the Petronas Towers look more modest. But beauty does not suffer from the loss of the height record.

Visit to the sky bridge
The Petronas Towers Skybridge has been open to the public since May 2000. There is a fee to visit, or, in the early hours, you can stand in line for free tickets.
Days of visit: Tue - Sun (closed on Mon)
Visiting hours: From 9:00 to 19:00 (closed for Friday prayers from 13:00 to 14:30)

Ticket issuance: From 8:30 daily, except Mon

On the first day after our overnight arrival, we decided to visit Petronas And Menard. First of all we went to Petronas, from Chinatown This walk took us about minutes 30-45 at a calm pace, we walked in Bukit Bintang, using a KL card, which was taken at some hotel from a girl offering excursions. We arrived there at about 11 am, and we were told that there were no more tickets and if you want to get there, you need to buy them in advance. And it’s not a fact that they will be the next day. Fortunately, we went on the very first day, otherwise we would never have gotten to Petronas. So, if you are going, take this fact into account.

So the tickets are worth it 10 ringgit(approximately 100 baht) – only on Sky Bridge, 40 ringgit(about 400 baht) – on Sky Bridge and Observation Deck, 200 ringgit - for Sky Bridge, Observation Deck and lunch, 350 ringgit - for Sky Bridge, Observation Deck and Set Chinese-Japanese-Western Dinner (that is, dinner of your choice). We bought tickets for 40 ringgit.

Visit is assigned only for a certain time, of course, first they will ask if you are comfortable. The procedure for visiting the Petronas Sky Bridge and observation deck(Observation deck) lasts only 30 minutes: 10 minutes to the bridge and 20 minutes to the observation deck.

This is not very pleasing: you don’t have time to see everything, look closely, tinker with the camera, choose angles, because you have to rush, or rather, you don’t have to rush, but the organizer is rushing you. By the way, time is so limited due to the fact that the next group of tourists should arrive. But despite the fact that their brochure states that they are open from 9 to 19, tickets go on sale at 8.30 and visits are made only a few times a day (about 3). Monday – closed.

1. Petronas is 88 storey skyscraper.

2. Its height is 451.9 meters.

3. In plan, the complex is two eight-pointed stars, but the architect added semicircular projections for stability.

4. Allotted for construction 6 years(1992-1998).

6. Towers were erected by two different companies to create competition and improve productivity.

7. Piles are driven to a depth of more than 100 meters - largest concrete foundation in the world.

8. The area of all premises of the building is 213,750 square meters, as area 48 football fields.

9. The tower contains 765 staircase openings.

10. Parking at the towers is 5,400 spaces.

11. The towers themselves occupy 40 hectares in the city.

12. From 1998 to 2004 years they were considered tallest buildings on earth.

13. The main customer is the state oil corporation Petronas.

14. Construction cost: RM2 billion ($800 million).

15. A covered passage in the form of a bridge ensures fire safety of the building.

16. Cleaning 16,000 windows of one tower takes a month.

17. The towers employ 10,000 people.

18. Each tower weighs 300 tons.

19. Entrance to the Air Bridge became paid from October 1, 2010; before that time, access to the observation deck was not allowed at all.

20. Each tower has 29 high-speed passenger elevators and 10 escalators.

In film "Trap" starring Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones, thieves carry out a computer theft of eight billion dollars from the largest bank in Petronas on New Year's Eve 2000, and then try to escape by moving from one tower to another along the holiday lights suspended on the bridge.

In film "Apocalypse Code" with Anastasia Zavorotnyuk, the Russian champion (understudy of the heroine Zavorotnyuk) in skydiving makes a jump from the tower bridge between the 41st and 42nd floors (height: 170 meters).

In the documentary series "Life after people" the towers are mentioned twice: after 75 years (the gallery between the skyscrapers collapses down) and after 500 years (one tower collapses and hits another, leading to the entire complex being destroyed).

So, we bought tickets and were supposed to come to Petronas in a day, by 17.00 pm. And we arrived, we weren’t even late. The inside of the Petronas is completely made in the same style as the outside. Everything is glass, stone, metal, there are escalators, stairs, handrails all around, everything lights up, sparkles, glows.

We waited for some time until the previous group came out and they let us in. Our wait took place in a small room, one might say, a museum dedicated to the Petronas. At least it's not boring. We weren’t able to take pictures because it was very dark there, but we managed to capture something on camera. In the room there are screens with photographs of buildings, stories about how they were built, demonstrations of building structures in miniature, there is a kind of attraction: check how many times Petronas is taller than you, I liked the corner with puzzles, where there are several tasks that you need to do it ourselves, for a long time we stood over an empty cube (with an open top wall), into which we need to fit several square volumetric figures so that none of them climbs beyond these walls of the cube, but in the end we succeeded. To get an idea of what kind of museum this is, those who are interested can watch the video:

Malaysia has a large state-owned oil and gas company, Petronas. One day the owners started thinking: there is decent profit, but there is no decent office. In the race for the tallest skyscraper in the world, Malaysian oil and gas companies decided to double the tallest building at that time - the 442-meter Willis Tower in Chicago, and built two super-high-rises at once in 1998 - the Petronas Twin Towers. Yes, by the way, they thought about the architecture - for the building plan they took an eight-pointed star (a symbol of Islam as the predominant religion in Malaysia) as a basis, but there was no need to fuss over the name. Petronas Towers is an excellent PR for the company’s name.

We visited the twins twice on the first day of our stay in Kuala Lumpur. In the morning we went to see, then looked at the Petronas Twin Towers in the afternoon, walked around KLCC Park, and when it got dark we returned to see the skyscrapers illuminated in the evening, and also enjoy the fountain show.

Petronas Towers in Malaysia: interesting facts

  • Each tower has 88 floors.
  • The height of Twin Towers is 451.9 m.
  • Petronas Towers are the most tall towers-twins in the world.
  • Construction costs amounted to about 800 million dollars.
  • The Twin Towers have two-story elevators (one stops only on odd-numbered floors, the other on even-numbered floors)
  • Instead of the usual steel for building skyscrapers, the Petronas towers used special concrete, which had high ductility, while strength was achieved by adding quartz.

I think many people watched the film “Apocalypse Code,” where Anastasia Zavorotnyuk (or rather, her stunt double) parachuted from the Petronas Towers skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur. By the way, during that jump, a power line was accidentally torn down, so the neighboring area was left without electricity. Let's hope that the residents of the “dirty mouth” (that is how the name of the capital of Malaysia is translated) were not particularly offended.

And Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the movie “Trap”, during the robbery of a cool bank in Malaysia, did not disdain to ride on a garland, like on vines in the jungle, from one Petronas tower to another.

Climbing the Petronas Twin Towers

A visit to the high-rise observation deck will cost 80 ringgit (≈920 rubles). They'll tell you a short history about the creation of skyscrapers, will be raised to the 41st floor on the bridge connecting the Petronas Twin Towers, and then to the 86th floor. Visits are open from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 17.00 and are limited in time and number of visitors.

We have not climbed the Petronas Towers and are not planning to, because... There is a TV tower nearby, the 6th tallest in the world. So, I think it will be more interesting to get there, but this is already part of our next trip to Kuala Lumpur :)

Urbana parkKLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre)

KLCC Park (Kuala Lumpur) City Center) is located on the southeast side of the Petronas Twin Towers.

It is based on bodies of water: a pond and a swimming pool.

Against the backdrop of motionless skyscrapers, you get the feeling that you are on the shore mountain lake against the backdrop of rocks. Of course, nature is nature, but still.

And then I was even upset that I was already a big girl and I couldn’t frolic in this pool :) It’s great when such conditions are created for children!

In the evening there is a fountain show. We were around 22.00 and caught this wonderful sight:

Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Park: how to get to Kuala Lumpur by transport

To orient Petronas Twin Towers on the map of Kuala Lumpur:

The Petronas Twin Towers skyscrapers can be reached by the popular KL LRT line to KLCC station, or the KL Monorail train to Raja Chulan or Bukit Nanas stations. Both of these means of transportation resemble the subway, except that the monorail floats on reinforced concrete structures above the ground, and the LRT is most often below it. From the large junction station KL Sentral, travel on the LRT will cost 1.8 ringgit (≈21 rub.), on monorail transport - 2 ringgit (≈23 rub.).

At first we tried to go on the monorail, but literally in front of our noses, there were problems on the line, and we went to the LRT, which we then used, because... the station was located near our place of residence not far from ChinaTown (I wrote about this at the end). And once we even walked from here to Petronas.

Tickets for LRT transport in Kuala Lumpur are purchased from special machines at stations. In fact, everything is very simple and intuitive: you select a station on the map, put in some money, get change and a token. You place the token on the turnstile in front of the entrance, keep it until the end of the trip, and at the turnstile at the exit you drop the token into the cell. This way the electronics will check whether you entered/exited there.

Yes, you can also get there by bus, but you need to check this with your hotel or passers-by.

The Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur () are perhaps as much a symbol of Malaysia as the Moscow Kremlin and Red Square of Russia. Initially, we planned to devote only a couple of hours to the famous twins, but somehow unnoticed we spent the whole day there. So what were we doing there?!

Firstly, we admired the famous towers. We have written more than once that we like to find the very best, and Petronas is just from this series.

Judge for yourself: height 451.9 meters. The ninth tallest building in Asia, and until 2003 the tallest building in general. Until last year it was 8th, but another Chinese skyscraper has supplanted the Petronas’ position. By the way, China has the largest number - 43 buildings with a height of more than 300 meters. Tenth tallest building in the world. The tallest twin towers in the world today. Such an impressive list of “coolness”.

Next to the towers there is a small cozy park with an artificial lake, playgrounds, swimming pools, jogging paths and marked points from which the best views interesting view to Petronas.

The twins in the area of the 41st-42nd floors are connected by a bridge SkyBridge, which, if desired, can be climbed. Admission ticket costs 85 ringgit(approximately 1360 rubles). Opening hours from 9:00 before 21:00 daily except Monday. On Fridays the bridge is closed from 13:00 before 14:30 because of prayer (Malaysia is a Muslim country).

Tickets at the box office start selling from 8:30 , but they can be more conveniently purchased in advance at www.petronastwintowers.com.my. But even with online tickets to get to SkyBridge It will be very problematic - the queue is gigantic, although perfectly organized.

We thought that we were not at all eager to waste time on this and decided to devote it to the huge shopping center in Petronas. This is one of the coolest shopping centers in Kuala Lumpur. And after almost a year spent in Indian and Nepalese towns and villages, he makes a simply stunning impression. Food courts, restaurants, shops, a scientific and entertainment complex - we were sucked in ☺.

Despite all the pretentiousness, most of the stores turned out to be more than accessible. And prices in some of them are lower than in Russia or Thailand. Shoooping! ☺

It's amazing how different the impression the towers make in daylight and evening light is. During the day they seem simply tall, and at night they seem monumental and majestic.

Seeing the Petronas Towers in the evening light is a must do in Kuala Lumpur.

And besides this, in the evening you can watch a rather colorful, but short light and sound show of fountains. It starts in the area 20:00 , but there is no more accurate information, as soon as it gets dark enough, that’s when it begins ☺.

Many locals come to the fountains with food and have impromptu picnics to the accompaniment of the romantic melodies of the fountain.

And finally, a little additional information about how to go and what else you can do in the Petronosov area.

How to get to the Petronas Twin Towers: take the metro to the station KLCC automatic line Kelana Jaya. You can also get to the station Ruja Chulan monorail line, then about 700 meters along the covered galleries and you are there. Read more about transport in Kuala Lumpur.

Other things to do in the KLCC area:

1. Visit one of the coolest aquariums Aquaria KLCC, if not all over the world, then in Asia for sure.

  • Ticket price for adults: 64 ringgit(about 1025 rubles);
  • Operating mode: from 10:00 before 20:00 , the last visitors are launched into 19:00 ;
  • Website: aquariaklcc.com

2. In the evening, when Petronas gets bored, take a walk to the street Jalan P. Ramlee and have a good time hanging out in local bars and clubs, because Kula Lumpur is a city that never sleeps ☺.

Reach the clouds with your hands, feel like a bird soaring high above a busy metropolis - all this can be done by visiting the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. These two grandiose structures are incredibly beautiful: the graceful domes of the giants rest against the bright blue Malaysian sky, everything around immediately becomes small and insignificant. All this is caused by the unprecedented admiration that arises when looking at the city from the observation deck of the beautiful twin towers.

Kuala Lumpur is a city that is famous not only in Malaysia itself, but throughout the world. The name of this place for those who have not been here immediately evokes vivid associations in which vines hang from small houses and do not allow them to move calmly, and friendly koalas look curiously at people from the trees. However, Kuala Lumpur is far from these fantasies. In reality, this is the city that is famous for its beautiful and modern skyscrapers. The most famous and tallest among them are the Petronas Towers.

Malaysia is hiding - read more in our article.

Once upon a time there lived the directors of a large state-owned oil and gas company, Petronas. Everything was fine with them: their income was considerable, and they had a desire to develop, but they did not have an office that would meet the requirements and status of the company. Around the same time, many big cities took part in the so-called “race for skyscrapers”: who will have a taller, more beautiful and more practical skyscraper. The leader in this competition at that time (late 90s) was the Willis Tower skyscraper in Chicago.

Without thinking twice, Petronas carried out the move that won the championship from the United States: it built the twin towers! Yes, such that they surpassed all their predecessors in both height and appearance. Without thinking twice, the name of the skyscrapers was given in honor of the company that created it: it sounds beautiful and is good PR.

Architecture

In Malaysia, the predominant religion is Islam. The architects came up with an interesting move in order not to deviate far from their traditions, even when building such a significant structure, which was destined to become the decoration of the entire city. An eight-pointed star (a symbol of Islam) was taken as the basis for the building plan, and the domes that top the skyscrapers resemble mosques in their outlines. This pleased the city authorities and only benefited the giant twins. Today these are the most urban skyscrapers in the Muslim style.

Construction

The Malaysian Twin Towers are skyscrapers with the deepest concrete foundations in the entire world! 100 meters, this is the depth that took a little more than three years to create. Throughout this time, every 90 seconds, special trucks alternately poured the foundation of the towers, which consisted of especially high-strength and elastic concrete. This helped prevent soil subsidence and made skyscrapers completely protected from hurricanes, which sometimes do not bypass Malaysia.

Construction is also interesting glass bridge, which connects the towers to each other at a height of 41-42 floors. This bridge is not only practical, but also symbolic. On the one hand, thanks to it, people can move freely between skyscrapers. On the other hand, it is a symbol of unification and closeness to heaven; it is not for nothing that the bridge has its own name - Skybridge. It was designed in South Korea, after which it was delivered to Kuala Lumpur in 500 separate parts. Here it was reassembled into its original form and taken upstairs, where it was installed at a great height within 3 days.

The Twin Towers appeared on Russian movie screens in the film “Apocalypse Code.” According to the script, the heroine of Anastasia Zavorotnyuk jumped from one of the towers with a parachute. The stunt was performed by the actress' stunt double. The bad luck was that during the jump, a power line was hit and torn down, which is why the whole block was left without power for some time.

Even earlier, skyscrapers appeared in the film “The Trap,” whose main characters dashingly flew from one building to another on peculiar “ropes.”

In 1997, the famous French climber "Spiderman" tried to conquer one of the towers by climbing along it. However, he only managed to reach the 60th floor, where the police arrested him. The unpleasant incident did not stop the daredevil, and 10 years later he tried to repeat his ascent, choosing the second tower. However, ironically, the police caught up with him, and again on the same floor.

The gaming industry also couldn't ignore famous skyscrapers: the Petronas Towers appear in three levels of the popular computer game Hitman 2: The Silent Assassin.
