The chain was founded by the German merchant Albert Steigenberg back in 1930, with the opening of the first Europaischen Hof hotel in the city of Baden-Baden. Long before departure

There’s still more than a day left before my flight to Hurghada, but I’m already on the Red Sea. It’s a paradox, you might say, but it’s true. After all, a person has two essences: physical and spiritual, and no one will argue about this. And for a creative person, to whom I consider myself with some special claims, the spiritual essence significantly prevails over the physical, it is a priority over it. And therefore, since I constantly think about the Red Sea and about the upcoming trip, about how I will be at the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach hotel, about which I already know a lot from the fact-finding information, starting from the location of the entire hotel infrastructure (on the map) and before analyzing the reviews of tourists who have already vacationed in this hotel, I am already almost completely in this hotel.
By the way, about reviews and about yourself. Reviews are mostly presented in dry language, without feelings and emotions, but I try to present everything so sensitively that the reader can imagine the events I describe and the hotel as a whole, as if he himself is in it and everything is happening to him, and not to me…
But for now, my physical essence is in Kyiv and physically perceives the world around me, however, again linking it with the upcoming new world in Egypt.
Today, on the eve of the New Year according to the old style, a slight frost has finally arrived - and this is after the New Year's rains and slush! Indeed, old lady Nature loves old traditions more, Old New Year.. And it’s time for her to prepare for the Epiphany holidays, which cannot be celebrated without bitter frosts. Well, what would we do without them?..
I'm walking through evening Kyiv. Snow is falling from the sky covered with continuous clouds - not en masse and abundantly, but as if testing oneself: is it possible to be welcomed into this World and how will the World perceive it? This “modesty” of snow touches me.
Mother Nature specifically decided to arrange for me a winter holiday of Frost and Snow, so that in this contrast I would more and better appreciate the delights of Heaven on Earth - the Red Sea and the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel, which I have to stop by in a little more than a day...

Lobby. Reception. Check-in

And now I’m already in Egypt. Hurghada. Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel.
Lobby... This is a German lobby, which I have not seen in any hotel in Egypt. This is not just a lobby with all the associated services (reception, Guest Relations, transport service, etc.), shops, a lobby bar, etc., located around the perimeter, but a large concert hall with a piano and excellent acoustics, which in the evenings, creates the impression as if the sounds of music are reflected from the mirror surfaces of the marble floor, walls and soar up to the high ceiling, past three-tier balconies and boxes..., like in a real theater... This is exactly how I perceived the lobby of the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel, when, on the very first evening after “acclimatization” at the hotel and getting to know it externally, I heard the first sounds of the piano - music performed by a talented professional performer. This is understandable: after a sleepless night and a flight, there was no time to comprehend the heights of art and spirituality, but, first of all, there was a desire to arrange my mortal body in the comfortable conditions of a hotel room, naturally, having first fed it... And before that, upon check-in, I was only surprised calm, peaceful atmosphere in a brilliant huge hall with fountains and a swimming pool in the center. Moreover, the pool is framed with black granite against the background of a light mirror marble floor. Impressive...
Well acquainted with the psychology of their guests, the reception staff satisfied the cherished desires of the newly arrived guests: after submitting their passports for registration, they immediately offered to go down to the Tamarind restaurant on the floor below and have breakfast. I will describe the breakfast itself below. In the meantime, more details about the lobby.
Imagine large amphitheater the height of a five-story building. All around there are columns with ceilings in three tiers, balcony railings are wooden in the color of bog oak, like all wooden structures and not only in the lobby, but throughout the hotel and in the same style (in the rooms - furniture and windows, in bars, in the children's miniclub, bridges at the pools, across the lazy river, etc. - right down to the toilets). Only on these balconies in the lobby there are not chairs (although they would be nice), but rooms and people living - hotel guests who stepped outside the threshold of their room and immediately found themselves in the theater... Beauty! And if there are twenty rooms on each floor, then more than a hundred vacationers can experience such pleasure. And I envied them, since I lived a little further away and the sounds of music practically did not reach my room.

And this is the picture I saw on the very first evening of my arrival. All-consuming music sounds. She swallowed everyone up. Dozens of vacationers with pleasure, forgetting everything vain and passing, surrender to the eternal. And when the last chord falls and fades into an echo in this present concert hall, admirers reward the talent with applause. I join them, loudly shouting: “BRA-VO!!!”, as I once shouted in Kiev opera house or in the Philharmonic concert hall during operas and symphony concerts.
Everyone enjoys the music, except for a dozen people relaxing at the bar counters of two bars, on either side of the piano in the back, as if in the niches of the lobby: the Karibu bar and the Lobby bar. Armed with glasses of alcoholic drinks and cocktails, they communicate with each other, not paying attention to the music, which for them is just the background of the topic of their conversation, and persistently try to look at something opposite them in the bar mirror... Maybe themselves?..
And above all this is a gray-blue sky, regardless of whether it is evening or deep night. This is the effect of the graying sky during sunset or sunrise, thanks to the illumination of the squares of glass in the lobby ceiling. Very impressive, showing not the darkness of night outside this lobby and building, but the mysterious life outside. At least that's how I perceive this effect...
In a word, the lobby is a special place, with a rather pleasant positive aura, where you can relax until late at night and get a lot of pleasure from the perception of it all. And people are drawn here, filling the entire lobby space with themselves, so that during rush hours (8-10 pm) it’s even difficult to find free place on sofas and armchairs, both in bars and in the lobby in general.

Having seen the real lobby, the lobby, as the face of the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach hotel, I comprehended and appreciated its main essence: the European (owner) here, in the Egyptian hotel, brought in part of his high culture. A German couldn’t have done it any other way, establishing his own hotel here and not putting his own style into it. Style of high spiritual culture. This high spirituality is inherent in the most developed segments of humanity.
I didn’t come to this conclusion right away. The first things that caught my eye were the original oil paintings on the walls of the hotel with a deep inner meaning, then the stained glass windows on the first floor of the main building (I captured some of them in the photo) and finally and sensually “got me” another music... And where do you think? – In the main restaurant during dinner, where a trio of musicians performed Arabic classical and folk works on national instruments!
The German shows the level of high European culture not only with large plots, as I have already described, but also in small things. For example, a month ago I was in the fashionable hotel in Sharm El-Sheikh - Rixos Sharm 5* (the founder of the hotel chain around the world is also Turkish), which is of the same, if not higher, rank as the Steigenberger Al hotel Dau Beach. There, bars also serve chips, salted nuts, etc. with beer or spirits (by the way, I always prefer strong, up to 55? Anisimovka or Ouzo). So, here in bars they always put a teaspoon in a bowl of nuts. It seems like a level of culture... But, as for me, it’s better to wash your hands well (the toilet is always nearby) and take nuts with your bare hands - a completely different taste! And by and large, is it possible to imagine how a “cultured” person cuts up and eats ram with a knife and fork over a glass of beer? Of course not! But maybe we have not grown to that high level of culture? However, I always removed the spoon and swallowed the nuts with my bare hands... And then I remember that people from Nature who live in Nature, for example, in Central Asia or in Siberia, they prefer to take food with their bare hands (and even fatty rice pilaf, licking the fat running down their hands)... Of course, it’s difficult to imagine this here, in a restaurant of a fashionable hotel. Or maybe I am a Pagan and essentially a child of Nature? However, using the example of roasted peanuts for beer (not pilaf, thank God!) I showed my non-standard attitude to some conventions of high German culture...

A few words about the reception service.
I have never seen such a modest reception, despite the outward luxury of the lobby, in any hotel in Egypt. There are not even such mandatory accompanying attributes as a clock showing different time zones and, naturally, different time in various capitals of the world, where most hotel guests are from (they eat in the lobby, but hang on the opposite wall). Imagine, closer to the middle of the lobby, between two columns there are two dark-colored wooden posts, about three meters long. And behind them are 2-3 workers, dressed in a strict black and white uniform. That's all the reception service. Even laptops and other office equipment are not visible - they are all behind the high barrier of the counter.
Issues are resolved quickly and with maximum attention to visitors. In this regard, looking ahead, I can give an example. When my safe malfunctioned and I went to the reception late in the evening, having first asked who understood Russian, I was asked to come to Guest Relations in the morning. But when they heard the word “Safe,” which sounded like a password, they immediately reacted: “Five minutes!” And indeed, five minutes later two intelligent repairmen came up and fixed the breakdown, for which I signed in the journal...

When I handed in my passport for registration, they brought me a glass of iced hibiscus tea. Before I had time to finish my tea, a set of introductory brochures and information about the hotel was already ready for me, and I was handed the keys to the room. A porter immediately appeared with an offer to move things to the room. But I refused his services, since there was less than an hour left before the end of breakfast and, if I stayed in my room for a long time, I risked remaining hungry until lunchtime. And therefore I chose a restaurant that is located nearby - on the floor below. But about breakfast - later, in the “Food” section, and now about the hotel room, which I ended up in immediately after breakfast.

My impressions of the room

The advantage of the hotel is that it is located in the center of Hurghada, but at the same time it is a problem for some guests who have a room overlooking the promenade. It is said beautifully, with an element of advertising, and is presented as such in the description of the room category. But this beauty is momentary, just like a walk along the promenade. But not everyone will be comfortable living on the boardwalk. In this case, this is one of the central streets of New Hurghada and everything connected with it: first of all, these are the intrusive signals of taxi drivers offering their services to anyone who has even stepped foot on this promenade, the noise from the engines of a string of cars and exhaust fumes with lead , almost London-like smog, and the screams of the Arabs invited him into his shops... In short, the flavor is still the same!.. And how do you feel about listening to this all day long until late at night?.. Therefore, if you want all this, then I definitely recommend these to you numbers.
There is a minibar in the room with local drinks replenished daily (included in the All inclusive meal plan).
The rooms are large – from 50 sq.m. And this allows, in a large living room, to arrange a spacious bathroom: a bathtub, a shower - separately under glass with the same glass door, a washbasin with two mirrors (large and cosmetic), a hairdryer, daily updated with gel, lotion, shampoo and soap, a set of eight towels, including two mini ones - for the face and two for the feet - near the bathtub and near the shower; toilet with hygienic shower... And everything is new, perfectly clean and shiny.
The living room is bright and cozy. All the furniture is of good quality and is made of blackened wood with turned elements to look like museum antiques. The amazing trend of the entire hotel is also pursued here in the room: everything, even the windows to the balcony, are made of ecological natural wood!
There are a lot of cabinets, bedside tables and cabinets, also in the color of bog oak, including big amount drawers. There is a safe deposit box in one of the cabinets small sizes(laptop will not be included). A wardrobe with a safe and a wardrobe are located in the “dressing room” between the living room and the bathroom with a glass door.
The floor in the room is tile and therefore very cold. But the included slippers solve this problem. Included with slippers is a white mohair robe - very convenient to use after a bath or drink coffee/tea on the balcony. Kettle, coffee and tea set is updated daily.
Balcony, with two wicker chairs and a table, medium in size. Balconies are fenced off from neighbors and therefore can serve as a secluded recreation area. Interestingly, there is a clothes dryer on the balcony.
Overall, the room makes a pleasant impression and can provide comfortable conditions for relaxation and restful sleep.
Rooms are cleaned and towels are changed every day. The cleaner values his job in this prestigious hotel and therefore cleans thoroughly and is extremely polite and attentive to guests. It’s very pleasant after lunch to come to a freshly decorated room, flooded with sunlight, breathing cleanliness and freshness, and relax for ten to fifteen minutes. In winter in January, there is no need to turn on the air conditioner for heating or cooling: the air temperature in the room is quite comfortable.

The hotel consists of a main 5-story building with 6 elevators and two two-story villas. The buildings, architecture and the hotel in general are designed in a classic style.
The most prestigious rooms are on the 4th-5th floors, as their balconies offer panoramic views of the hotel grounds, the beach and the sea. On the floors below, the view is naturally reduced. There are also prestigious rooms in the right, short wing of the residential building, as they are closest to the main restaurant and reception. A nearby elevator will quickly take you where you need to go. The left wing of the five-story building is several times longer than the right one, and the rooms in them are more distant from the main restaurant, the Lobby Bar, but at the same time, they are convenient because the swimming pools are nearby. There are also two elevators here.

Hotel area

The total area of the hotel is 160,000 sq.m. But the territory is approximately square in shape, both in width and in length - 400 m and therefore does not seem so big. So, if you set a goal, then in one day you can walk around the entire territory, get acquainted with it in the most detail and choose for yourself the most suitable and comfortable vacation spots.
The hotel is divided into zones: for adults without children and with children.
The left (if you look at the sea) half of the hotel territory is more landscaped with various views of buildings, architectural forms, original landscape design, swimming pools with numerous wooden bridges, bars, etc. In the right half there is a golf course, but in general this part of the territory is less developed and is a rolling plain with an irrigated carpet of grass. In addition to the golf course, there are several original lakes (not for swimming), connected by streams, the banks of which are lined with wild granite stone.
The hotel area is replete with water features: swimming pools, streams, rivulets, creeks. The Lazy River flows through the hotel.

River in Egypt

Egypt is a country that is 96% desert. And for Egypt the word lake, pond and streams is something exceptional, and for those living in the desert it is even a curiosity. There is only one River - the Nile with large and fresh water. And everything else - artificial constructions, mainly in hotels and on a scale as far as the funds allowed when designing them. It’s a rare hotel in Egypt without a swimming pool, and more than one... Small streams with wooden bridges across them are already appearing in more reputable 5* hotels (Savoy Sharm Hotel). But it is extremely rare for a river to flow on the territory of the hotel. I know from hearsay that there is such a river in the hotel " Four Seasons» 5 * in Sharm El Sheikh.
And here, at the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach hotel, I discovered another river, under the lyrical name “Lazy River”. What a miracle this is, I will now try to describe to you.

Right by the beach, near the Tanga bar, there is a kind of pier where you can take a rubber circle, up to one and a half meters in diameter, lower it into the water, sit (lie down) on it and get boat trip along the Lazy River, 300-400 meters long. I took advantage of this opportunity and enjoyed it a lot. The flow in it is ensured by jets of water directed along the walls of the river. It is especially interesting to swim under the arched bridges and admire the thick-trunked young palm trees and everything that grows and grows on both banks of the river.
Imagine: it’s the middle of January, and around you grass is growing lushly, trees (palm trees) are rustling with thick foliage, flowers are fragrant, birds are singing songs and the hot midday Sun is shining brightly in the sky. And you, like a certain pasha, sit in a soft, comfortable circle, slightly closing your eyes with pleasure and, like a cat in the Sun, purring barely audibly with pleasure. You are motionless because you are the center of the Universe. And past you, greeting you, and you even hear: “Assana!” banks, trees, various architectural sculptures and wooden arched bridges float by... And you, as a well-mannered person, cannot restrain yourself and not reciprocate all of them. And, putting a sweet smile on your face, wave your hand to them all...
And at the same time, in your homeland, in your native Ukraine, there is a biting frost of twenty degrees and a feisty blizzard is trying to cover your eyes with needle-sharp snowflakes, clog your nose and whole face, and, give it free rein, then throw you into a snowdrift and cover with a thick layer of snow...
Such visions make you wake up from a light slumber and doubt the reality of this or that picture...
And only after pinching yourself and feeling the pain, you realize that you are here in Heaven, and not there, in Hell...

Nutrition. Restaurants. Bars

Nutrition

All Inclusive includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner - Buffet; snacks throughout the day in the hotel bars, local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Freshly squeezed juices, imported alcohol, mini bar, room service, hookah - for a fee.
Half board (HB) and breakfast only (BB) are currently not available as planned at the hotel. As an exception - only for those who come to the hotel for a conference or aircraft crews. I often saw flight attendants leaving their hotel rooms before their next flight - the comfortable rooms and overall conditions of the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach hotel allow you to have a good rest and recuperate after the flight.

Restaurants

Main restaurant "Tamarind"
(breakfast, lunch and dinner: 07:00 - 10:30, 13:00 - 15:00, 18:30 - 22:30 in summer, 18:00 - 22:30 in winter).
The main restaurant has a buffet. There is a barbecue as part of the main restaurant and is included in the All inclusive system.

Breakfast

The breakfast, which I took advantage of already in the first hour of my arrival at the main restaurant “Tamarind” of the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel, pleasantly surprised me by the fact that at that time they served sliced balyk and three more elite types of dishes made from natural meat. But only in portions, strictly from the hands of the waiter at the serving counter at the refrigerated display case. You can, of course, ask for a third piece of balyk, and come back ten minutes later with an empty plate again, but the waiters’ excellent memory of faces and the waiter’s gaze while serving often stops this.
Balyk for breakfast is closer to the fashionable hotels in Sharm El Sheikh, which I have been to, for example, “Rixos Sharm”, but it is more impressive: access to delicacies directly, without a waiter, and there was salmon and trout every morning...
Here, every morning, the first course was bean puree with various seasonings and falafel. At the same time, I involuntarily remembered the Grand Rotana Hotel, where I also ate this dish every morning...
Every morning in this restaurant there was an unusual dish for breakfast - meatballs in sauce.
In addition to the standard, as in all hotels in Egypt, breakfast dishes: scrambled eggs, omelettes, pancakes, sliced several types of cheeses and sausages, processed cheese (I recommend - very tasty), boiled sausages, eggs baked in small porcelain bowls were displayed here every morning. And there were two types of boiled eggs: hard-boiled and soft-boiled. They can be distinguished by the fact that soft-boiled eggs were placed in a container with beans at the bottom. At the same time, you will never confuse and take only what you like.
For breakfast there are about a dozen different types drinks, including four types of packaged juices - all in transparent vertical containers and a mixer nearby - if you wish, you can whip up juice or another drink.
Among the vegetables, I liked, surprisingly, tasty tomatoes and cucumbers - pieces and rings, with the skin cut off (cucumbers).
And strawberries and melon were on my table every morning.
Coffee - any of the coffee machines, and tea, there are ten types - choose any one to suit your taste! For tea and coffee - various bakery sweet products - a whole exhibition on two pyramidal distribution stands...
Sometimes it seemed to me that breakfast here was better than lunch...

The quietest time is in the first two hours after breakfast starts - before ten in the morning. And at half past ten Arabs with children come for breakfast, and there is such a noise and din on the right side of the main restaurant that an unaccustomed person will feel uncomfortable. And therefore, if you have to have breakfast at this time, it is better to take a table on the right side of the restaurant - in a specially designated area only for adults, without children.

After such a breakfast for lunch, by one o’clock in the afternoon you are no longer in a hurry, sunbathing on the beach, and appearing at the main restaurant “Tamarind” closer to its closing - about three o’clock. Or you are content with the “Tanga” restaurant on the beach, where there is also a fairly large assortment of dishes, and even some that are not in the main restaurant: this is seafood soup, and grill every day, and the most original - pita bread, including huge ones with meat inside, baked here in large ovens right in the restaurant hall in front of you by two pretty Arab girls who prepare you an omelet and scrambled eggs in the morning.
And every day there is chicken shawarma with any seasonings - for beer or wine.
I couldn’t resist the tempting smells of delicious dishes from the Tanga restaurant, and long before lunch in the main restaurant, I sometimes tasted the most delicious dishes at the beach restaurant with a cold beer - it was kind of like a snack for me.
As an option, vacationers by the main pool, without interrupting or leaving it, can have lunch here, in the restaurant Restaurant “Bwala Pool”: lunch 13:00 - 17:00 in summer, (13:00 - 16:00 in winter), ice cream from 12: 00 until sunset.

For lunch, the main restaurant always served an original dish: baked duck, lamb or beef, but it was cut and served in portions with beautiful advertisements for large pieces of meat with bright lighting.
The first courses - soups - were different every day, but once there was even “Russian Beetroof Soup” - something close to Russian national dish, but with a sharp taste of beetroot...
Every day for lunch there was beef (pieces in sauce or large round pieces), grilled and breaded chicken, as well as grilled fish fillet. Sometimes - filled rolls, legs of lamb, beef fichta, fried chicken, etc. And, of course, with all this you can order a strong drink, beer or wine: white, rose or red, and... repeatedly!
At lunchtime there was an incredible amount of cakes, pastries and other treats for those with a sweet tooth. After the first tasting of everyone, I chose the most delicious ones (there is no arguing about tastes, so I don’t voice their names so as not to impose on you), and then I took only them and tasted new ones, which were sure to arrive every day. And I advise you so.
The originals were several types of meatloaf, updated every day, as well as a dozen different types of sandwiches on plastic skewers - all at the soup counter.
Not every day, but still sometimes on the terrace of the main restaurant they fried over an open fire and gave out the grill, straight from the stove. Here, they often consider grilled meat, chicken or fish fried on metal plates of electric ovens...

Dinner at the main restaurant "Tamarind" of the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach hotel even surpasses lunch in terms of the variety of delicious dishes. Apparently, the most delicious dishes require the most careful and lengthy preparation.
Unfortunately, during the entire period of my stay at the hotel, I did not have a full dinner at the main restaurant, since I dined at a new a-la-carte restaurant each time (I only had five evenings and, accordingly, five restaurants a -la-carte). But before or after the a-la-carte restaurant, I still tried to find a few minutes to drop into main restaurant and record original dishes for my Diary and review, including those in the photo. And I came to the conclusion that the main restaurant “Tamarind” is in no way inferior in quality, and, moreover, in the range of dishes, to many a-la-carte restaurants, except for Japanese restaurants with “fire shows” “Samurai” and “ Sushi" as well as the "Tanga" restaurant on the beach.

But the main restaurant “Tamarind” also left a deep impression on me, but not in the stomach, but in the Soul. Every time I hurried here not to satisfy my belly with quite tasty dishes, but to delight my Soul with feelings of a higher level. After all, here every evening, an hour later, after the most hungry have satisfied their womb, and after them visitors who value food more as art slowly appear, for them, from an improvised stage in the middle of the hall, live music begins to sound... Natural live sound musical instruments brings something unusual to this restaurant hall, trying to prove the dominant role of spiritual qualities in a world entirely of bodily interests and aspirations.
I came here every evening after a-la-carte restaurants, sat at the empty table closest to the musicians and enjoyed the music - their talent for performing. And I perceived it so sensitively that sometimes even a tear of sensitivity appeared in the corners of my eyes... And I came to the conclusion that it is barbaric to combine gluttony at the same time (and it, in fact, is what it is, judging by the amount of food consumed by many at dinner), with highly spiritual action.
I do not exclude that I would have been one of these barbarians if I had not come to this restaurant hall not after a-la-carte restaurants, but also, like everyone else, to eat according to the “All inclusive” system, or rather, “for everything is paid! I got used to the image of one of them and imagined how, walking past rows with delicious dishes, they themselves ask to be put on my plate, against my will and I do not have the strength to refuse them. And the plate keeps filling and filling to the brim, then the next one is taken... What can you do? – This is the psychology of “freebies”. But on the other hand, if everything is paid for, why not take it all now? And at the same time, who will believe you that you are taking care of your figure? With the “All inclusive” food system this is impossible, and not so much physically, but psychologically.
And therefore, wanting to bring my weight back to normal and spare my liver, lately I have been trying to take tours on the “BB” food system (“Breakfast only”).

Early breakfast – Late dinner

The Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel has one very interesting place, which contributes to round-the-clock nutrition for any vacationer at the hotel, is the Lobby “Lounge”, knowing the existence of which and its location, you can have a snack at any time of the day and not remain hungry after a late return from an excursion or an early departure on a safari. And it is located in the far left corner of the lobby, immediately behind the Karibu bar.
One early morning I woke up to watch the sunrise, but with some time to spare. And I used this reserve of time to personally verify the existence of such a wonderful opportunity - round-the-clock food intake 24 hours a day.
In addition to several types of baked goods, sliced boiled sausages and hard cheeses, here you can also enjoy butter, honey, jam, yogurt, tea and packaged juice (the latter can be ordered at the Karibu bar).

A similar range of dishes with a slight change and replenishment at other times when no other restaurant is open: early breakfast 05:00-07:00, late breakfast from 10:30-12:00, late dinner 22:30-00:30 , late breakfast 00:30-05:00.

A-la-Carte Restaurants

General information for all a-la-carte restaurants.
All a-la-carte restaurants require prior reservation and are included in the “All inclusive” food system. You make a table reservation in one or another a-la-carte restaurant yourself in the morning and evening on electronic scoreboard in the hotel lobby - once a week for each restaurant. You can reserve for all or part of your vacation days at once. To begin with, I reserved a table for myself in three restaurants, starting from the first day of checking into the hotel.
All a-la-carte restaurants are open by appointment for dinner from 18:00 to 23:00 (except for the Alexanders restaurant, which accepts visitors half an hour later and closes half an hour earlier).
In a-la-carte restaurants, you shouldn’t be too late, as they may refuse you, especially in Chinese-Japanese a-la-carte restaurants, where orders for grilled dishes are accepted in the first 10-15 minutes, and then in Within half an hour, in your presence, they are prepared with fire show effects. And latecomers can no longer wedge themselves into this process. For example, I was late to one of these restaurants and I was also lucky that an hour later there was one empty seat. And the number of seats around the grill is limited - only 12 people.

A-la-Carte restaurant “Alexanders”
(French and Mediterranean cuisine)

It is believed, judging by the reviews, that the a-la-carte Alexanders is the best of the a-la-carte restaurants at the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel. But I have a special opinion on this matter.
First of all, in order. Getting there at night is a whole problem, especially if you have just checked in and have not yet become familiar with the hotel area: where everything is and how to get there. A large hotel map is available at the exit from the main building to the territory on a stand and can be given to you at the reception desk. They gave it to me on the third day after I asked for it. Although, I believe, it should be given to each new guest at the hotel along with keys and other information, as is done in any reputable hotel of this category.
Having found out where the a-la-carte restaurant “Alexanders” is located, and this is in the far right corner of the hotel territory, already on the beach of the neighboring “sister” hotel “Steigenberger Aqua Magic” 5 *, I left the main hotel building at half past six. The lighting from lanterns and spotlights at the entrance made me happy with its festiveness. But, having walked fifty meters, I found myself not in pitch darkness, but in darkness. Only rare lanterns, however, which was pleasing, in a retro style, like night fireflies, barely illuminated the area. But fortunately the sky was clear and there were stars in the sky. I followed them and set off on my way to the treasured a-la-carte restaurant “Alexanders”. The only thing, besides the darkness, that confused me was the location of the restaurant in the wild area of the hotel territory, beyond the so-called. a golf course and behind an equally wild (not lazy) river, the banks of which are lined with granite blocks.
To my surprise, I quickly found the restaurant I was looking for. And not only by the stars, but also by the lighting of his veranda (terrace). From the outside it is a nondescript building, but inside there was a pretty decent and cozy room with tables for 50 people (10 for 2 people, 4 for 4 people, one for 6 people and one table for 8 people).
The service in this restaurant is high level. This is understandable, because here one waiter serves two or three tables, and not two dozen tables, as in the main restaurant. But the dishes are not particularly chic - so that they can be remembered for a long time, in comparison with the dishes of both Chinese and Japanese restaurants, prepared before your eyes on the grill. Although I asked the waiter to choose dishes that would impress me, I remembered them and could write about them.
Nevertheless, on the whole, I liked the restaurant and I sat in it for more than two hours, slowly devouring the dishes and drinking red wine. By the way, in a-la-carte restaurants you can order only one different dish (no more than five), but alcoholic drinks are unlimited, as in the “All inclusive” system. But still, by the end of my visit to the a-la-carte restaurant “Alexanders”, due to the fact that I liked the restaurant and I sat in it for the third time new clients came in, I already became like one of their own and they stopped paying attention to me: topping up Fill a glass with wine and serve water. Speaking of water. When the water ran out and they stopped responding to my conventional signs about it, I decided to conduct an experiment: when will they pay attention to me? At first, while playing, he began to click on the empty bottle, like on a drum - on zeros; then banging it on the table - it turned out louder, but the same result; but when he noisily threw her “accidentally” onto the floor and made an imperturbable expression on his face, not immediately, but after about five minutes

Good day! Last year, the kids and I vacationed in Steiden in May. I liked the hotel. The holiday turned out to be very eventful. Check-in takes about 20 minutes. The rooms are good, but there is practically no sea view. Cleaning was done daily. On the first day they did not provide large towels. They told the reception and then everything was fine. The food in the hotel restaurant is delicious, fresh and of high quality. There was everything for every taste! A lot of desserts and fruits! We were so full! The hotel area is large, there are many flowers. There are two children's playgrounds under a canopy. The children were delighted! There was also a children's animated show! There is a huge swimming pool on site. My husband really enjoyed swimming there. The beach is magnificent. Soft sand, clear water, good entry. There are always plenty of free sun loungers. I was also very pleased that there was somewhere to get out of the hotel. There are many different cafes and restaurants nearby.

In April last year, the whole family went on holiday to Egypt. It was the first time the children were taken on holiday to another country. That's why we were very worried. But as it turned out, it was in vain. We were very lucky with the weather. We spent a long time on the beach, by the sea! The sea is clean and has an amazing color. The beach is well maintained, not like in many hotels where all sorts of garbage is lying around. And no one is watching him. The hotel is wonderful. The building is beautiful. The territory is well-groomed and green. The numbers were amazing! They are all very bright and spacious in the hotel. The children had somewhere to run. The staff kindly provided us with a cot and a potty. In general, all the staff, from the reception to the maids, are very polite, attentive and decent. At the end of my vacation I lost a diamond earring. I told the Russian girls at the reception about this and after arriving home, about a week later, they wrote me a letter saying that the earring had been found and they could send it. I was shocked! Not every person is capable of this! The food at the hotel is good. There was something to feed the children. And for adults it’s a paradise! So many things! We had a great vacation. Now Egypt will be our cherished dream. Where you are so drawn to return. I recommend this hotel to everyone! Wonderful holiday, decent people!!!

The hotel, I’m sure of this, will suit absolutely everyone. For everyone who loves a respectable and measured holiday, families with cheerful and noisy children, romantic couples, and even our mothers and fathers who love a quiet and calm pace of life....More ▾ The hotel, I’m sure of this, will suit absolutely everyone. For everyone who loves a respectable and measured holiday, families with cheerful and noisy children, romantic couples, and even our mothers and fathers who love a quiet and calm pace of life. The hotel has its own activity and place for everyone. The hotel is not cheap for an Egyptian hotel, but it is definitely worth the money. We rested at ALDAU Beach, and across the road on the second line is Aqua Magic, which is part of this resort. It's noisy and fun, very cool water parks, lots of entertainment for children. In ours, the one on the first line, there is silence, a huge green area with droshky for jogging and cycling; by the way, bikes can be rented at the hotel. An incomparable infinity pool for adults only, a jacuzzi and a sauna, even its own golf course right on the premises. There is a heated salt water pool, a lazy river, and a heated Jacuzzi. Even though check-in is official from 3 p.m., we were checked in very quickly, within about an hour, even though we arrived early in the morning. We didn’t specifically book a room with a sea view, but that’s exactly what we got. The room is clean, very bright, equipped with everything you need from a minibar to bathrobes and slippers. The minibar was constantly replenished with cola, sprite, and water. In the shower, all accessories, towels, and bedding are clean and fresh, without a hint of stains or disrepair. The beach is large and clean, there are wind barriers near every sun lounger, tea and warm towels are carried along the beach all day long. The downside is that the sea is shallow and the buoys are very close to the shore; you can only swim normally from the pier, but you want to be close to the sunbed and not run around. Everything on the beach is well-equipped: a bar nearby, toilets, showers, changing rooms, everything is clean and well-groomed. There are almost no living creatures; you won’t see any fish or corals near the hotel. We also had great fun on the excursions; we saw so much different beauty. Especially Super El Gouna is El Gouna + Dolphin Bay + bathyscaphe + fishing + banana, tablet + seafood lunch. And it costs only $40. But if you took it from a local company, cami tour, you will find it through Yandex. But if it had been from a tour operator, it would have cost $65, so we would have saved some more. In general, the company is excellent, everything is well organized. The hotel has animation, but we only sometimes went to the evening shows in the lobby, during the day we went to the water park or sunbathed near the pool and on the beach. Live music every evening. There were dancers nearby and live singing on the street, pleasantly enjoying the cozy, calm atmosphere. We expected that the alcohol in the hotel would be weak, so we even took a few bottles with us from the airport. The cocktails are indeed very weak and very sweet, not really drinkable, but the wine and beer were surprising, very good, that’s what we mostly drank. The food is very high quality, there are a lot of meat dishes, fish is a little worse, but there were always a couple of options, there is almost no seafood. But there are a lot of different fresh vegetables, fruits, excellent pastries, delicious desserts. It is impossible to leave the restaurant hungry. I was very pleased with the service until the last minute, we were very lucky with the hotel. We're glad we stopped here.
