The airport is clear. Airports of the Kuril Islands. Schedule Sakhalin - Kuril Islands

  • Address: Russia, Iturup Island

I like:

Iturup Yasny Airport is a regional airport, which is located 8 km from the city of Kurilsk and is located on the island of Iturup, Far East. Itupur is one of the two airports on the island. The second of them - Burevestnik - is located away from settlements, and therefore less convenient to use. In addition, due to its unfortunate location, it often ends up in the fog zone, and therefore is closed for a long time.

It is noteworthy that Iturup Yasny Airport became the first aviation enterprise that was built on the territory of Russia in its post-Soviet period from the very foundation. The airport was equipped in full compliance with all technological requirements, and therefore almost immediately received international status. The first plane landed on its runway on September 17, 2014. From this time his active work began.

The name Yasny was assigned to the airport at the end of 2014 based on the results of a competition held among residents Sakhalin region.

How to get there

Iturup Yasny Airport is located in close proximity to the city of Kurilsk, as well as the villages of Reidovo and Kitovoe. From any of these settlements you can get to the airport by taxi. In addition, a bus, allocated by the regional government specifically to serve this route, runs regularly from Kurilsk.

Infrastructure

Since Iturup Airport was opened quite recently, its infrastructure is not at all large, however, it is developing quite quickly.

Thus, at the airport you can find various shopping kiosks and shops, restaurants, ATMs, as well as luggage storage. There is no hotel inside the airport yet, and therefore passengers can only use hotel complexes located in Kurilsk.

A grand opening ceremony of the airport, built over seven years as part of the Kuril Islands development program, took place on Iturup Island. The official opening ceremony of the Iturup airport was attended by the Governor of the Sakhalin Region, Alexander Khoroshavin, yesterday, September 22, reports the correspondent. IA SakhalinMedia.

Opened the official ceremony Governor of the Sakhalin Region Alexander Khoroshavin:

Airport "Iturup" is the first in the post-Soviet history of the Russian Federation new airport, which is built from scratch. I sincerely congratulate you on this significant event! The decision to build it was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2003. The construction of this facility was accepted into the federal target program for the development of the Kuril Islands for 2007-2015.

In April 2007, Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov arrived here on a working trip. During the meeting with him, it was decided to finalize the project. The length of the runway was increased from 1.4 thousand meters to 2.3 thousand meters. And its width was increased from 32 m to 42 m. Thanks to this, the airport was able to accommodate modern medium-haul aircraft.

According to Alexander Khoroshavin, various organizational and technological difficulties had to be overcome during construction. We had to work in a swampy area, and the elevation differences on the site ranged from seven to 12 m. All of them were overcome thanks to the efforts of the general contractor JSC Gidrostroy.

We have decided to take all regional airports into regional ownership. Including this airport. This will allow us to work on expanding the geography of flights and increasing the number of flights to Iturup. I congratulate you once again on the opening of the airport! All the best to you! - the governor wished.

Awarded with Certificates of Honor from the Government of the Sakhalin Region Head of the road section of JSC Gidrostroy Vitaly Kargin,Deputy General Director of JSC Gidrostroy Pavel Kravchenko,General Director of JSC Gidrostroy Yuri Svetlikov.

In conclusion, Alexander Khoroshavin noted that the problem of air traffic on Iturup has been resolved. The airport is all-weather. Its equipment makes it possible to receive aircraft in the same minimum weather conditions as at the airport. His specifications allow aircraft to be received various types, which in the future can connect Kurilsk with Far Eastern cities. And tourists have something to see in Iturupe - volcanoes, waterfalls, one of them is Ilya Muromets, more than 100 meters high, the largest in Russia. Now there are already proposals for the construction of hotels, hydropathic clinics, and mud baths on Iturup. By introducing two ports the problem is also solved transport accessibility islands.

Let us remind you that at 14.50 on September 22, a Dash-8-300 plane with 32 passengers on board landed at Iturup airport in the city of Kurilsk. Thus, the Aurora airline opened regular flights between Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and the new airport on the Kuril island of Iturup.

The first passenger, and it turned out to be Kuril resident Mikhail Uralsky, greeted the Governor of the Sakhalin Region Alexander Khoroshavin. At the same time, the opening ceremony of a new airport took place, the construction of which lasted seven years as part of the federal target program for the development of the Kuril Islands. It was noted that the Iturup airport, which, unlike the Burevestnik airport, can already receive medium-haul flights aircraft, will largely solve the problem of transport communication with the Kuril Islands.

Having visited the Kuril Islands, I can honestly say that there are problems with the transport network there. And get to this very eastern part Russia can only travel by water or air. Of course, I preferred the plane.

Which airport on the Kuril Islands is better?

Main and largest airport Kuril Islands is a fairly new airport on the island of Iturup, which is called the airport “Iturup Yasny” and has the status international airport. This is where my path lay.

Air traffic at Iturup Airport is modest; it sends and receives only two flights: to Khabarovsk by Yakutia Airlines and to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk by Aurora. Direct flights There is no connection between Moscow and Iturup, I flew through Khabarovsk.

The infrastructure of Iturup Airport is still developing, and now on its territory there are only:

  • cafe;
  • ATM;
  • shop;
  • luggage storage rooms.

Iturup Yasny Airport is located 8 km from the urban village of Kurilsk. And the only connections between the airport and the center of the village are taxis and bus No. 515, which runs along the route Airport - Goryachiye Klyuchi.

Which other Kuril Islands have an airport?

The oldest airport on the Kuril Islands is the Kunashir Island Airport, located 15 km southwest of the urban village of Yuzhno-Kurilsk and called Mendeleevo Airport. This airport has received the status of a regional aviation hub and receives and sends the only flight to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk of the Aurora company.

Unfortunately, there is no bus service connecting the airport and Yuzhno-Kurilsk, so the only way to get to the village is by taxi.

Is there another airport on the Kuril Islands

There is another air harbor on Iturup Island, this is a joint airfield, called “Burevestnik” and is also used as civil airport. Of course, I didn’t use this airport. I was told about its existence local residents.

Burevestnik Airport is the smallest airport in the Kuril Islands and accepts only private charter flights. Burevestnik is located in the eastern part of Iturup, 6 km from the village of Gorny.

Although I have only been to one airport in the Kuril Islands, I can already say from this that the airports of the islands are difficult to compare with the airports of large Russian cities. They are modest and small, because they are not used so often and are located in a seismic zone, but the airports have the minimum necessary infrastructure.

    What to do if your flight is canceled

    If a flight is canceled more than 24 hours before departure, passengers will be transferred to similar airline flights. The carrier bears the costs; the service is free for the passenger. If none of the options offered by the airline suits you, most airlines can issue a “ forced return" Once confirmed by the airline, the money will be returned to your account. Sometimes this can take several weeks.

    How to check in at the airport

    Online check-in is available on most airline websites. Most often it opens 23 hours before the start of the flight. You can go through it no later than 1 hour before the plane departs.

    To check in at the airport you will need:

    • identification document specified in the order,
    • birth certificate when flying with children,
    • printed itinerary receipt(optional).
  • What can you take on a plane?

    Carry-on luggage is the items you will take with you into the cabin. Weight norm hand luggage can vary from 5 to 10 kg, and its size most often should not exceed the sum of three dimensions (length, width and height) from 115 to 203 cm (depending on the airline). Lady's bag does not apply to hand luggage and is carried freely.

    The bag you take with you on the plane should not contain knives, scissors, medicines, aerosols, or cosmetics. Alcohol from stores duty free can only be transported in sealed packages.

    How to pay for luggage at the airport

    If the weight of luggage exceeds the standards established by the airline (most often 20-23 kg), you need to pay for each kilogram of excess. In addition, many Russian and foreign airlines, as well as low-cost airlines, have tariffs that do not include free baggage allowance and must be paid separately as an additional service.

    In this case, luggage must be checked in at the airport at a separate Drop-off check-in counter. If you are unable to print boarding pass, you can get it at the regular airline check-in counter, and check in and drop off your luggage there.

    Where to find out the arrival time if you are a greeter

    You can find out the plane's arrival time on the airport's online board. The Tutu.ru website has an online display of the main Russian and foreign airports.

    You can find out the exit number (gate) on the arrivals board at the airport. This number is located next to the incoming flight information.
