It is located in the city of Salou, an hour's drive from Barcelona (Spain). Here you can find attractions for every taste and for all ages. The park is very popular among tourists; over 3 million people visit it annually. 2012 was a significant year for the largest park in Spain - Port Aventura. “Shambhala” is the name given to the new attraction, which impresses with its size and speed. And where is this miracle of engineering located, you ask.

Location of the attraction in Port Aventura park

"Shambhala" is located in the thematic zone, which is called China. This is a real stylized city - Chinatown. They themselves symbolize the great mountain range- Himalayas. " Mountain peaks" can be seen from many points of the Port Aventura park. "Shambhala" is located next to the famous "Dragon Kan" slides, which are almost half their size. By the way, "Shambhala" is a mythical country, which, according to legend, is located in Tibet.

Records

This attraction is a type of roller coaster. The new brainchild of the park broke three European records at once. Firstly, “Shambhala” is by far the highest attraction - 76 m. Secondly, the length of its first fall is 78 m. And, finally, it is the fastest among European roller coasters. On the descent it reaches speeds of up to 134 km/h.

A unique adventure in PortAventura Park

"Shambhala" is an impressive speed and height. There are 3 trains running on this route, each with 32 seats. Moreover, they can work simultaneously. The attraction will give the most fearless visitors a sea of the most thrills. A trip to "Shambhala" can only be compared with the conquest of Chomolungma: highest peaks, abysses and mountain lakes. The attraction consists of 5 climbs, each of which will give unreal emotions. Just imagine falling at high speed from the height of a seven-story building!!! Moreover, the train is rushing into a dark and narrow tunnel!

It is surrounded by tall and inaccessible mountains. Many travelers tried to find this place, because everyone wanted to know eternal happiness. This place is called Shambhala. The park management, in turn, provides its visitors with a unique opportunity. Having taken a ride on the Shambhala attraction, you can forget about everything in the world and enjoy the speed and adrenaline. Isn't this happiness?

Construction

The Shambhala attraction in Port Aventura is the most expensive in the history of the park. Over 25 million euros were spent on its construction. This attraction was designed by the famous Bollinger company. We managed to find a picture called: "Port Aventura. Shambhala. Photo." On it you can see in detail how various parts of one of the pillars were attached.

Spain is an alluring country, everyone comes here to enjoy the cultural attractions, but some have a completely different goal - to spend a day or two on amazing attractions that can surprise anyone.

Lovers of exoticism and oriental culture can first go straight to the Chinese zone of the Port Aventura park. The Shambhala slide is located exactly there and is perfect for thrill-seekers. Just a few years ago, the main attraction of this site was the famous Dragon Khan slide, which is now in the shadow of its “sister”, built in 2012. However, you shouldn’t lose sight of it, since it also broke a couple of records in its time and can serve as an excellent warm-up before the main adventure.

History of creation

The Shambhala attraction at Port Aventura was designed in 2011. Immediately after this, representatives different countries more than 300 people began concentrated and prolonged construction work. The slide was supposed to be the largest and largest in all of Europe and, of course, in the Port Aventura park itself. “Shambhala” appeared before visitors in 2012 and instantly won the hearts of hundreds of people. A company with a fairly big name in the field of slide design - Bollinger & Mobillard - was responsible for the construction. The result exceeded all expectations, because the painstaking work took 9 months. Among other achievements, “Shambhala” can rightfully be considered the most expensive coaster in the park. 25 million euros were spent on its construction, and this amount justified itself.

Design Features

As much as 76 meters - this is the height of Shambhala. Port Aventura is home to a 1,650-meter-long coaster, which is classified as a hypercoaster, that is, a giant coaster, according to the American classification system. Another distinctive feature is the ability for passengers to experience the airtime effect five times, which means the sensation of losing contact with the seat. And a speed of 134 kilometers per hour will lead to an instant adrenaline rush immediately after the first descent. The advantages of this magical attraction include the presence of a double helix, a splash effect, loops and even a tunnel. 96 people in three carriages can ride on the slide at the same time, and the enchanting flight itself lasts just over one minute. Therefore, even if you see a long line, know that the wait will be very short. Moreover, this storm of indescribable sensations is definitely worth it.

Legend

Shambhala is the name given to a country hidden from prying eyes, which is located at an incomprehensible height. Only those who have pure thoughts and want to be at the last stage of spiritual development can get into this most holy land. For many years now, guesses about the nature of Shambhala have been exciting the souls of thousands of great figures, philosophers, scientists and mystics. It’s not for nothing that this extreme slide is located in the Chinese zone, because according to legend, mysterious country located precisely in the East, but where exactly is still a mystery, which can only be comprehended by people engaged in special practices. Thank God, in order to ride the attraction, you only need to pay admission ticket to the amusement park. Besides the heights, the mystical land and the exciting slide have something else in common. According to the sages, the desire for Shambhala has a beneficial effect on karma and radically changes a person’s life for the better. And as soon as you lower the protective fasteners on the seat, you immediately realize that you have comprehended something beyond the ordinary.

An unforgettable trip guaranteed

Attractions and scenic spots Hot Spain can be praised forever. If you went to the capital of this colorful country, then the best addition to excursions and Mediterranean cuisine would be a trip to Port Aventura Park. "Shambhala", in turn, is a real test of courage. Riding this slide may be the most desperate thing you will ever do, not only in this wonderful amusement park, but in your life. If you come here with children, then you should remember the height limit - 140 centimeters. First of all, Port Aventura employees care about safety and comfort, so there is no doubt about the integrity of the construction and the responsibility of the workers. An unforgettable experience awaits you, so be sure to set aside a couple of days on your trip, because one may simply not be enough to leisurely explore the entire park and enjoy all the entertainment.

During our holiday in Spain, the town of Salou, Costa Daurado, we could not miss the chance to visit the famous amusement park Port Aventura. Reviews about this park on the Internet are very contradictory, some praise, some scold. In addition, the idea of riding the highest roller coaster in Europe was tempting with its recklessness. In general, read our review of what came out of the trip to Port Aventura Park.

Visit to the park Port Aventura we planned even before we arrived in Salou. Firstly, the park is located just 20 minutes from the town, and secondly, the park is very popular among Russians, and most of their friends never ceased to admire it. We decided to spend the afternoon of Monday in the park, a day when museums are closed and most establishments in Spain have a day off.

Hill Shambhala

Hill Shambhala

After a leisurely lunch at the hotel, we went to the stop in Salou, where the bus to Port Aventura departed. The bus was crowded: numerous Russian tourists They literally stormed the bus. Already at the entrance we could not even imagine how many visitors there would be inside the park.

Port Aventura occupies a fairly large area, far from the coastal towns (but not far from the Taragona oil refinery). There is an amusement park, a water park and several hotels here - for those who come here specifically from distant parts of Spain for two days.

Mediterranean zone

Port Aventura Park is located in Spain, the Costa Daurado region, near the village of Salou (15 minutes by bus), 83 km from Barcelona, an hour's drive from Barcelona, 10 minutes from the airport in Reus.

Opening hours:The park is open all year round, but during the off-season the park is open from Friday to Sunday. In general, it is better to look at the schedule on the official website of the park. An undeniable plus during the season is that the park is open on Mondays, when all the main museums and entertainment venues in Spain are closed.

How to get from Barcelona to Port Aventura: The best way to get from Barcelona to the park is by electric train in the Taragona-Tortossa direction, Port Aventura stop. Next, walk about 10 minutes. The slides will be clearly visible, so you won’t be able to get lost. The second way is to take a bus to Salou or Taragona, and from there take a bus or train to Salou. It is better to look at the detailed train schedule on the websites www.renfe.com and www.rodaliesdecatalunya.cat.

Getting to Port Aventura by car is easy. The park has its own exit number 35 from the AP-7 motorway, or the Mediterranean Motorway (E-15 on the European motorway)

How to get from Salou to Port Aventura: Buses from the Bus Plana company depart from Salou, as well as an electric train that goes straight to the park. Travel time is about 20 minutes. Train stops are usually marked with special road signs. We took a bus from the stop next to the Pachita club.

Where to buy tickets to the Park

In Salou, tickets are sold in every hotel and every self-respecting tour operator, no matter the local one or the one with whom you came to Spain. There are several types of tickets: one day and two days. There are also “express” ticket types, which are a little more expensive but allow you to skip the line to the attractions. Such tickets are sold only in the park itself. Personally, we bought our tickets for the day at the reception of our hotel in Salou. You can also buy tickets online on the official website of Port Aventura.

The cost depends on the number of days you plan to spend in the park: from 45 euros per adult for one day (56 euros adult ticket for 2 days), to 115 euros per adult for 7 days. See the full list here

A ticket to the Water Park costs 28 euros per adult for one day.

Merry duckling - Port Aventura

Our tickets were purchased directly at the hotel. This made us incredibly happy, since the line for tickets in the park itself snaked like a snake’s tail. According to the printed one electronic ticket We were unable to get through the turnstiles the first time. Since a regular ticket had to be inserted into a special hole at the checkpoint. But the policeman at the entrance understood our problem and let us through.

At the entrance to the park you can take a map, however, as you understand, there were no maps in Russian. And in English too. I had to be content with a map in German, since it was clear from the pictures where the attractions were.

To explore the territory of the park, we decided to do the following: first, take a ride on a train that goes along the perimeter of the park, and then choose the attractions on which we will ride.

Finding the train station was not difficult. We sat down, along with numerous parents with children.

Steam Engine Port Aventura

When we approached the China zone, we couldn’t stand it and still got off the train. Two huge slides towered over the park: the red one, Dragon Khan, and the blue one, the Shambhala slide. Wild screams of horror echoed this part of the park; I admit, even watching this free fall was scary. However, the queue for these slides was such that we decided to leave them for later. This is understandable, because these are the most popular attractions of the park.

Coaster Port Aventura

In general, PortAventura Park is divided into 6 thematic zones:

-Mediterranean

The area is decorated in the style of a fishing village, with a pier and a boat. This is the first area of the park that welcomes new arrivals. In summer it looks wonderful, all in flowers.

Flower beds of the Mediterranean zone

Mediterranean zone

-Polynesia

The Polynesian zone is a green, impenetrable jungle with tall broad-leaved palm trees. The most striking attractions here are Tutuki Splash and Sea Odyssey.

Statues from Easter Island

-Mexico

In the Mexico area you can see ruins, Mayan pyramids, and a variety of strange plants.

Mexico zone

-Wild West

The atmosphere of early Western cinema, numerous saloons and Indians greet visitors here.

Roller coaster in the Wild West zone

-China

It is in the China zone that the coolest attractions are located: Dragon Khan and Shambhala Hill - the most high slide in Europe. The site is designed in the spirit of colonial China with organic pagodas and dragon fountains.

China zone

-Sesamo Aventura

A children's country built in the style of the famous Sesame Street program in 2011, with the participation of the same cartoon characters.

Sesame land

Where to eat in the Park

In each of the entertainment areas there are various cafes and restaurants. We limited ourselves to ice cream, since we arrived after having already had a hearty lunch.

We went around all 6 zones, except for the children's, and rode on slides and a boat. To be honest, I didn’t have the courage to ride the steepest ones, Dragon Khan (red slide) and Shambhala (blue slide).

Boat trip

Each zone hosts colorful shows every day. You can see the schedule on the official website and in the program. However, we were unlucky and did not see a single show.

Overall it’s beautiful, but in my opinion the park is very inferior to Disneyland Paris. There are not many attractions for adults, but the queues during the season are simply huge.

Some required standing for about an hour. It's a dubious pleasure to stand in the heat for a momentary surge of adrenaline. The public in the park is multinational: many Russians, many Europeans. However, most of all were 15-year-old Spanish teenagers, of whom there were countless crowds at each attraction. It must be admitted that they did not behave very civilly.

Queues for rides

Here's another nice line. True, in some places there are boards where you can estimate the length of the queue for each of the attractions.

Queue for the attraction

The park did not seem very green to me; trees were seen only in the Polynesian zone. In general, if you are going to the park, you should go there either early in the morning or after three, when the heat subsides.

In general, the opinion is subjective, but of course there is nothing to do there for two days, if you are without children.

Finally, a little video of the coolest slides in Europe.

Hotels in Port Aventura

Just an hour and a half from Barcelona (or maybe a little more) and not far from the city of Salou (15 minutes by bus) there is a magnificent amusement park called Port Aventura. Attractions for every taste for children and adults are presented in five theme parks. The idea was that you could a short time find yourself in five parts of the world.

Each park has appropriate music, themed shows and National cuisine. Since 2011 there has been new country or the Sesamo Aventura themed area. Surely there will be people who will compare Port Aventura with Disneyland Paris. However, this is not so, each park is unique in its own way and each has its own zest, although many argue that Port Aventura has much more drive and attractions for adults, Disneyland is calmer and more humane. I’ll try to tell and show you what a Spanish amusement park is like and some of its attractions.

The main entrance to PortAventura Park. The most convenient way to get here is from the city of Salou by bus, which says "Port-Aventura". This is the final stop.

Attraction "Furious Bako". One of the most popular attractions of the Mediterranean Park, this is where your acquaintance with the park begins. This attraction is the fastest in Europe. This entertainment area has many cafes and all kinds of souvenir shops. I just don’t advise you to start your walk around Port Aventura from a cafe, because... There are rides ahead of you that are best ridden on an empty stomach. IN summer time in the evening a laser show is shown in the Mediterranean Park.

The next theme park is Imperial China. Here is the coolest and most “squealing” attraction in Europe - a roller coaster and they are called “Dragon Khan”. This attraction is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. For extreme sports lovers, this is what you need. Before riding Dragon Khan, you need to empty all your things from your pockets, otherwise you won’t find them later - they will scatter throughout the park. For this purpose, there are special lockers nearby, similar to storage lockers. The soap bubble show will make a special impression on you; many visitors even visit it twice, it is such an amazing spectacle.

Red, this is the "Dragon Khan" attraction, light-colored slides, this is "Shambola". "Shambola" was opened in 2012. Its height is 76 meters, its flight speed is almost 140 km/h.

Attraction "Furious Bako" in Port Aventura. You sit down in a chair and they shoot you at the speed of a bullet flying out of a gun and instantly you fall down, then sharply to the right and left, then in a loop. All this happens at lightning speed.

Under the guide of this attraction there is a net stretched into which shoes, sneakers, glasses, handbags, etc. fly out. One grandfather who decided to ride with us lost his false jaw. He then tried to return it, asked the park workers to get it, but they explained to him that all “lost” things are taken out of the net only at the end of the working day. I don’t know how they separated, but the attraction continued to operate without stopping.

An equally interesting and screeching attraction in Porta Aventura is riding on round rafts along a mountain river. The funny thing is that around every turn a stream awaits you. cold water, or a waterfall, or shooting at you from water cannons. At the end of the ride, you find yourself wet down to your underpants, at least. At the exit there is a dryer the size of a man, so it’s possible to dry clothes if you want. True, the dryer is paid, 2 euros.

Sliding down water slides. This is Port Aventura's most humane attraction. But you won’t be able to stay dry either.

Then we head to the Wild West park, which has nine attractions. Here you are greeted by cowboys, Indians and everything that you associate with the Wild West: all kinds of shooting games and stunts on horseback. There is a small can-can show in the cowboy saloon, but to watch it you need to order some food or drinks.

Quieter and more relaxing attractions, of which there are two, are located in Polynesia Park, where you find yourself in palm thickets Hawaiian Islands. This real island Bounty with waterfalls, tropical forests, a performance of parrots and ostriches. You and your children will certainly be interested in the Sea Odyssey cinema, located in a stylized submarine. It shows 4-D films on a marine theme, simulating, for example, deep diving.

Show in the Polynesia zone.

4-D cinema "Sea Odyssey". In general, nothing special. If you dropped out of a 3D cinema, then you definitely won’t like this attraction and won’t make an impression. Primitive graphics through stereo glasses simulate the passage of an underwater bathyscaphe through a cartoonish underwater world.

At the entrance of the "Sea Odyssey" attraction.

Visible from almost anywhere in Parc Aventura high tower. It is located in the Mexico Park. This attraction is called “Hurricane Condor”. You are lifted to a height of 100 meters, the chair hangs for a few seconds, you admire the stunning panorama and suddenly... a free fall from dizzying heights. You feel adrenaline flowing out of you. My heart really sinks somewhere into my heels, my breath stops and I have one thought in my head: why did I need this?

One of the coolest attractions in Port Aventura "Condor", video.

Thus, the park has six thematic zones: Mediterranean, China, Polynesia, Wild West, Mexico and SesamoAventura.

Attraction theme park"Sesame", based on the children's show "Sesame Street". There are only 11 attractions here, mostly for the little ones.

You can walk around Aventura Park, or take a train or boat along the canals. If it's hot, this will be very convenient. For water attractions It’s better to buy raincoats, which are sold here, otherwise you will get wet, and this is not very comfortable, especially in the late afternoon.
Unfortunately, there are huge queues for each attraction, so it is important to time your stay in the park. The waiting time is written before entering the attraction on a board with chalk. Most of the visitors to the attractions are Spanish schoolchildren, noisy, shouting and pushing. Therefore, while standing in line, be patient.

"Magic Tree". You can climb on it. This is probably very interesting for children.

If you are very hot, then you can cool yourself off with water from an ordinary bucket like this.

The train runs around the park. But he walks very slowly.

Of course, it’s better to come here in the morning, preferably before opening. In addition to the existing attractions, each zone hosts a colorful performance, which is also desirable to see, especially the evening performances, when everything is illuminated with original multi-colored spotlights and lanterns.
A regular entrance ticket to PortAventura for one adult costs 45 euros, children's ticket 39 euros. But, there are express tickets at twice the price, which give you the right to visit attractions without queuing. Express ticket "PortAventura Express Max" (in the form of a ticket), sold at the box office. PortAventura Express Premium tickets come as a wristband.

On all attractions, cameras are installed that photograph the most unexpected and emotional moments, and then you can look at yourself on the monitor and buy your photo (for 7 euros) or print it on a T-shirt or mug.
The park is only open in tourist season, i.e. from April to October from 10.00. During the high season, the opening hours of Aventura Park are extended to 24.00.
How to get to Porta Aventura from Barcelona.
There is another way to get to Port Aventura on your own. To do this, you can take the train that goes in the direction of Tarragona and Tortosa from the Sant Andreu Comtal station. After Tortosa station, the next stop is yours. It is more convenient to buy train tickets there and back. Moreover, it is better to buy tickets to the Park itself on the spot, and not in advance through the Port Aventura website. However, who cares. In front of the box office you can pick up a book with the schedule of all shows and their locations. Unfortunately, there is no booklet in Russian. There are no age restrictions for children, but there are height restrictions, i.e. Your child's height for some attractions should not be less than 1.40.
Have a nice holiday.
