Hotel reviews 2008 of the year

Hi all! We vacationed at Royal Palms Beach from 11/22/2008 to 12/05/2008. I'll start with the flight first. It is very difficult to fly with a transfer. It's better to take a straight line. In general, it turned out that we flew for 13 hours, and the direct flight turns out to be somewhere around 8 hours. We flew with Emirates both there and back, the service is amazing, but sitting at the Dubai airport for 4 hours waiting for a flight to Colombo is very tiring. Having arrived at the place, we were met by the company "Exotic Holidays International" (and the tour operator "IntAer"), that I could...

We visited in December 2007, there is a lot to write about, it’s a warm and breezy country, the hotel is great. It's definitely worth a visit. Yes, if you take excursions, then take them, but only if they are at the end of your vacation, otherwise right after a long flight it’s a little tiring. Anything like this with a tour operator is frowned upon. Sri Lanka is a fairy tale....

Hotel reviews 2007 of the year

We vacationed at Royal Palms Beach in July 2007. The impressions are very contradictory. If we talk about the country of Sri Lanka in general, then it is very interesting. Lush vegetation, Buddhist and Hindu temples, wild monkeys and a large number of elephants are impressive. But the weather in July is annoying. Spontaneous downpours and almost 100% humidity, as well as constantly stormy weather Indian Ocean don't give much pleasure. The hotel is not bad, but not for sophisticated tourists. Quite big and clean...

Olga, 2007-05-24 We went to Sri Lanka 03/26-04/10/07. We liked the Roayl Palms Hotel, green area with beautiful tall royal palm trees. If you want to be with each other and enjoy nature - very appropriate place, in the evenings - live music and a cocktail bar. There is no active animation. The rooms are spacious with good air conditioning. The restaurant has good service and a wide selection of dishes. For those who love excursions, we would like to advise you to immediately buy a combined...

Royal Palm Beach 5* - of course not “fashionable” - 3 Turkish stars! Overall, not bad, but boring. If you go, do so in a large group. There is enough food, especially if all inclusive (All). But breakfast and dinner (HB) was enough for me, and I am a lover of food. I traveled alone and assumed quiet rest on the beach and snorkeling. The last one was a mess - there’s nothing to see there, and the waves from May to September don’t even allow you to just swim. Although there is a red flag on the shore, the Russians don’t care; many are floundering on the waves. Including...

People!!! I don’t know where you stayed before, but this hotel, including Tangerine, is just a nightmare. Everything is old, smelly, at best it’s rubbish on all counts. Who saw a good SPA there? Yes, these Sri Lankans simply don’t care about you, they have no idea what massage and service in general are. That’s why they are beggars and don’t want to work at all, even these women at the spa. One thing made me happy - nature, and even then these freaks trashed it almost everywhere. For myself, conclusions have been drawn: I won’t set foot in this country again, maybe in a few years... ts...

We went at the beginning of March. Tour with excursion program. I really liked it. Wonderful country. I was pleased with the hotel. Really deserves 5*. I made some repairs before the New Year holidays. Exotic. The rooms are very romantic, new furniture, plumbing. There are no complaints about the service. The guys are trying really hard. Pleasantly surprised night club, also renovated. The music is good, and it works until 4 am. The food is varied - every day there is European cuisine in the evening - sometimes Italian, sometimes French, sometimes Greek, there was...

Royal Palms Beach

First line of the beach. Distance to the sea - 50 m. Sandy beach, entrance to the sea is gentle.

We moved in on December 26, 2019. We arrived at the hotel at 7 am, they were going to check us in at 2 pm. We had to negotiate. Before that, we were in this hotel in April 2013 and in Citrus, nearby, in March 2016. In my opinion, such nature, a warm ocean, tranquility and friendliness cannot be found anywhere else. Therefore, we enjoyed our vacation to the fullest. The hotel is beautiful and cozy, but for six years it looks like not a rupee has been invested in it. Is it really impossible to make decent wi-fi by 2020? They did it in Turkey. Since all the reviews about the hotel are wonderful, I will focus on the shortcomings that will help the management improve their impressions of the hotel. Room cleaning is offered twice a day - it is better to clean it once, but thoroughly. Cleaners sweep away fallen leaves and empty bottles after New Year's Eve celebrationsThey've been lying on the sunbeds for 2 days, I took them to the trash myself. There are sand paths that simply weren’t willing to be laid with paving slabs. Now, at the beginning of January 2020, they started shore protection at the Tenzherin hotel, which is located on the same territory as ours, and clay and black sand immediately washed onto our beach. 2 bulldozers have been working for a week now, the noise and smell of the diesel fuel does not add to the mood. And this is in High season when a trip here costs 2.5 times more than in March-April. A separate topic is New Year's dinner. Since they forced me to pay $130 out of pocket for it, it was possible to give something with this money. There were grilled shrimp and a lot of tartlet-sandwiches, it was not clear what they were made from. I didn’t eat this. All drinks, including plain water, are at an additional cost. Imagine paying $390 for a table for three and then buying more Coke. A shame. Do you think the money went to the entertainment program? VIA sang songs well in the style of Hotel California and four 13-year-old schoolgirls tried to dance modern dances in national costumes. Makes me sleepy. To top it off, they held a Miss Hotel competition. It is something. The girl who won was an outsider, whose winnings were paid for by her Dad, without really hiding it. Sorry sight. I will never buy New Year's dinner at a hotel again. NEVER. The Hotel is drawn out by the magnificent ocean and the surrounding nature, which you can’t get enough of. My local friend Boni and I went to Sigiriya, Bentota, national park and to the waterfalls. We ate at his place at Rusalka and at Kapral's across from Sichels. Cheap and high quality. The shower in the room is annoying, with only rain coming from above, and the air conditioning at minimum simply blows away. Everything in the minibar is paid for, they give you a free bottle of water per person per day, and even then they try not to give it enough. There are no sockets near the beds or in the toilet, I brought my own tee and now I’m proud of it. We charge three mobile phones from one outlet. Check-out from the hotel at 20 o'clock, asked to extend check-out free of charge through my travel agent in the form of a bonus for the second visit. Allowed up to 15 - thanks for that. I tried to be useful in my vacation report to those who are planning to come here. It turned out a little long, sorry. If the hotel administration listens and eliminates these little things, you will gain more than you spend. Sri Lanka is charming!!! We will come again, probably not to this Hotel.

Royal Palms Beach Hotel 5*

Belongs to the Tangerine hotel chain Group Hotel. The five-star Royal Palms Hotel is a three-story building built in the traditional style of the area, combining brick and wood in one structure. The hotel complex is surrounded on all sides by beautiful tropical vegetation, which is carefully looked after by the hotel staff. Nearby, in close proximity to the building, there is a fairly large intricately shaped swimming pool with a jacuzzi.

Very close to the hotel is the first line of the beach, only about 100 meters. The beach is not equipped.

Nearest locality- the resort town of Kalutara, and to the capital island state Sri Lanka is a little over 40 km - only an hour and a half journey. So what's the choice of this hotel as a possible place both for relaxing by the water and for traveling around the country, it is considered quite justified.

Vacationers are offered comfortable, decent rooms that have everything they need for have a nice rest, as well as the ability to choose a meal plan: half board, full board. Many vacationers prefer to use all inclusive opportunities and enjoy a calm, leisurely holiday at the resort.

Description:

In the room:

air conditioning, telephone, music channel, TV, minibar, safe, tea/coffee set, hairdryer, bath/shower, balcony/terrace, large area relaxation (in Junior Suites).

Ayurvedic treatments - all this can be found in India. But the sincere attitude towards guests is only on the island of Ceylon. The specificity of the local holiday is “implantation” into the surrounding landscape, unity with nature. But you won’t see any unsanitary conditions or crawling or flying insects in your room. Especially if you live in a five-star hotel. The focus of our article will be one of them - Royal Palms Beach Hotel 5*. It is half of the hotel complex. The hotel has a common area with the Tangerine Beach Hotel 4*. But don’t think that the guests of the “four” will eat in your restaurant and create queues. In two hotels, guests wear different bracelets. But the entire complex is managed by a single management. Guests can freely walk around both hotels.

Where is Royal Palms Beach Hotel Kalutara located and how to get there

The hotel located on the first line of the beach. It is located on the southwest coast of the island nation of Sri Lanka. international Airport Bandaranayake in Katunayake, near the capital Colombo, is seventy-four kilometers away. If your package includes a transfer, the bus will take you to the hotel gate in two hours. Officially the hotel belongs to the Kalutara district. But in fact it is located in the Waskaduwa resort area of the small town of Wadduwa. It is somewhere in the middle between Kalutara and Colombo. The capital is only forty kilometers away. Reviews show that tourists did not feel cut off from civilization. There are many cafes and restaurants in the resort town. There is a grocery supermarket next to the hotel. Also well established transport connection. To huge sandy beach Vaskudavy walk from the hotel buildings about sixty meters.

Territory

The motto of the management of the hotel complex is unity with nature. Therefore, lovers of towering skyscrapers and urban landscapes are clearly not here. The territory of the Royal Palms Beach Hotel corresponds to its name: it seems as if it is a palm forest. Three-story buildings stand among lush tropical greenery. They are made in Sri Lankan style, in warm colors. Terracotta walls and wooden decoration of the buildings give the impression that the buildings are an organic part of the landscape. The pool is also not a dull quadrangle, but a “river” flowing between the houses, which ends in a “lagoon”. The buildings are built so that all rooms have a view of the ocean - if not a direct view, then at least a side view. The entire vast territory of the two hotels is home to many chipmunks, who climb trees and safely help themselves to nuts from their hands. Iguanas roam the alleys, and you can see herons and other birds. The spirit of ancient Sri Lanka is felt in everything: aroma lamps, carved elephants, incense. The hotel was built in 1996, but the last renovation took place this summer.

Numbers

Royal Palms Beach Hotel reviews call it a small hotel. There are only one hundred and thirty-six rooms on a large area of three hectares. The vast majority of them fall into the deluxe category. These are one-room rooms with an area of forty square meters, with a furnished balcony or terrace. There are also more expensive guest rooms. For example, a one-room “penthouse suite”. This room is designed for two guests (maximum occupancy is three people), but its area is almost twice the size of the deluxe room. Junior Suites consist of a bedroom and a living room. The bathrooms of these rooms have a bathtub. The real pride of the hotel are two “royal suites” (213 square meters). These rooms are on two levels. On the ground floor there is a small kitchen, dining room, living room and bathroom. On the second level there is a bedroom with a guest area and a work area (there is a computer). There is also a bathroom with shower and bath. The Royal Suites are adjacent to a spacious green terrace with a jacuzzi.

Room equipment

Even the usual “deluxe” at the Royal Palms Beach Hotel 5 (Sri Lanka) offers guests impeccable service for a complete rest. Its equipment fully meets five stars. The air conditioner reliably leaves the tropical heat outside the window. A TV with satellite channels (there is Russian music) will entertain guests in the evenings. There is also a telephone and minibar. There is a charge for refilling the latter, with the exception of drinking water, the supply of which is replenished every day. The deluxe bathrooms are equipped with showers. In addition, there is a hairdryer. Reviews repeatedly mention quality hygiene supplies. In addition to the usual set (soap, shower gel, shampoo), there is body lotion, shower cap, and ear sticks. What makes hotel guests incredibly happy is an electric kettle with dishes and bags of drinks replenished daily. An iron and ironing board can be borrowed on the floor. There is free Wi-Fi in the rooms. As for the “suites”, their equipment compares favorably with the “deluxe” ones in the presence of a bathtub (and even a jacuzzi), bathrobes and slippers. Sri Lanka has high humidity. To prevent swimsuits from remaining wet, the bathrooms are equipped with a dryer.

Nutrition

The Royal Palms Beach Hotel does not constrain its guests in their choice. You can pay for the minimum meal plan (“Bed and Breakfast”). With the appropriate bracelet you will be allowed into main restaurant only for breakfast. Reviews about the morning meal are always favorable. The food is tasty, dense and varied. They provide a lot of baked goods and fruits. You can eat so much that you will be full until dinner. There is another option: half board. Many reviews recommend choosing this particular diet, since you don’t particularly want to have lunch in the heat. Dinners in the hotel restaurant are very good, each time themed, dedicated to culinary traditions different countries. But reviews warn that with semi- and full board All drinks during daytime and evening meals (except drinking water) are paid. If you want to go out to the fullest, choose All Inclusive.

Where did the tourists eat?

On the territory of the Royal Palms Beach Hotel there are, in addition to the main one, two a la carte restaurants (Italian and fish), a 24-hour cafe and two bars (in the lobby and by the pool). Many tourists visited these establishments Catering and praised the food and service there. But, judging by the reviews, the Royal Palm Beach Hotel is surrounded by cafes resort village. And there is a supermarket very close by. What do the reviews recommend? If you turn right on the beach, you will see Sea Send. In this cafe you can not only have a tasty and cheap lunch, but also get a quality massage. If you miss Russian cuisine, then you can dispel your nostalgia for your homeland in the Matryoshka cafe. This establishment is a five minute walk from the hotel. You need to exit the gate and turn left. Matryoshka has free and very fast Wi-Fi.

Beach and pool

The Royal Palm Beach Hotel (Sri Lanka) is located on the first line. The Indian Ocean is sixty meters from the doors of the buildings. Beaches in Sri Lanka are municipal. Therefore, the hotel, although it is on the first line, is protected from sandy shore a low fence. There is a guard at the gate who prevents traders from going inside. The beach is unequipped, but long and wide. The ocean gives the impression of being mighty water element, and few tourists dared to swim far. Most limited themselves to swimming in the pool with hydro and jet massage. It is designed in the form of a beautiful lagoon surrounded by sun loungers and umbrellas. The pool is located between the buildings and the ocean, so the sound of the waves will accompany you while swimming in the calm waters. The hotel has its own shallow tank for children.

Service, entertainment and services

From the first minutes at the Royal Palms Beach Hotel, guests feel like they are in a five-star hotel. Upon check-in, guests are treated to fruits and drinks. If your stay at the hotel falls on your birthday or wedding anniversary, you will receive a compliment from the hotel. Reviews claim that in the second half of the complex, in Tangerine Beach, there is a good spa center with Ayurvedic treatments. Tourists mention animation for both adults and children. At the hotel you can play sports games: squash, billiards, tennis, volleyball and others. Transfers from Colombo Airport can be arranged for a fee.
