Puerto Aventuras, Mexico - where rich gringos live and vacation, as well as the best children's beach in the Caribbean. Underwater caves of Tulum

Kantong Chi Eco Park is an impressive underground space formed naturally. Translated from the Mayan language, Kantun Chi means "Mouth of Yellow stone". So they poetically named the cave area, which looks like a fairy-tale kingdom. The ancient Mayans considered this place sacred, they believed that here they could purify the soul.

An openwork pattern of stone formations, created by water that has worn away the limestone for hundreds of years, frames reservoirs with the purest water where you can swim. Bizarre caves flow into one another. You can walk along them, immersing yourself in the mysterious and detached atmosphere of the stone world. If you don’t want to swim, you can take a kayak ride on the waters of the lakes.

There are a number of restrictions when visiting the park. For example, you cannot use lotions or any creams. This harms the local flora and fauna, which is carefully protected.

Mayan ruins in Tulum

Tulum is ancient city Mayan people. It is believed to have been built at the end of the 13th century. The city is located in a very picturesque place- as if elevated on a rock above the turquoise waters of the sea. The local landscape itself inspires a certain awe and, of course, is memorable. There was a port settlement here. And besides, it was one of the first to experience the raids of the Spanish conquistadors.

Modern Tulum consists almost entirely of ancient ruins. Here you can see the ruins of various buildings. There are ruins where you can see fine carvings, the remains of temples with frescoes, the Castillo pyramids and more.

Sometimes it seems that time has stopped in Tulum. Tourists are presented with an idyllic picture: peace, sun-warmed stones on which iguanas bask, and a haze of sultry air swaying over the ruins.

Monkey Sanctuary in Tulum

A monkey sanctuary is essentially a nursery where monkeys live as if in the wild. This is one of the few places where you can see several species of wild monkeys at once.

This place was formed out of love for animals. Initially, monkeys that needed rehabilitation were collected here: previously they were used for nefarious purposes - in restaurants, souvenir shops, for taking photos with tourists. As a rule, these animals were emaciated and unhappy. On this territory they found a second home. But the Monkey Sanctuary is only part of a larger ranch that also houses horses, deer, iguanas and many birds.

The ranch organizes excursions that give you the opportunity to touch wildlife and communicate with monkeys. Usually this kind of contact with animals leaves the most positive impressions.

This dolphin water park is considered Mexico's first and only interactive dolphinarium. After all, here you can not just watch a show with dolphins, here you can interact with these amazing animals. The Dolphinarium offers about a dozen special programs to communicate with dolphins. In addition to direct communication with animals, the dolphinarium holds educational events so that everyone can better understand the habits, habits and lifestyle of dolphins. And if you wish, you can gain professional skills in interacting with these beautiful animals.

Guys, hello! Sometimes my friends ask me if I miss Mexico, and I always answer that although it was cool there, I don’t miss it. Maybe because it’s good here in Peru too. But when I started talking about Mexico, I realized that I had not told about some interesting and beautiful places which we visited when my dad visited. One of these places is the city Puerto Aventuras (Puerto Aventuras) is one of the richest places in the Riviera Maya in Mexico.

Canal at the entrance to the city, White yachts and beautiful houses

Even before coming here, I read that this is a place for the rich who love to both live and relax there, but only after looking at these houses and yachts parked at the doorsteps did I understand what was meant. The town of Puerto Averturas itself is quite small; you can get around it on foot in just 15-20 minutes.

Eat shopping mall and a dolphinarium, but we didn’t go there

Immediately from the main highway along which we arrived from Playa del Carmen, a neat path began to the center of Puerto Aventuras, surrounded by trees so that the entire path passes in pleasant shade. There is also a road for cars nearby - many residents have their own transport, not only land, but also sea. Wide canals with emerald water run throughout the city, and the houses are built in such a way that when you leave, you find yourself directly on a yacht parked at the porch, and from there - into the open sea. Quite convenient, I must say!

Emerald Canals in Puerto Aventuras

Already walking along the shady path, we realized that this was not a typical Mexican city - along the way we met only gringos, the path was clean and tidy, and there was a gorgeous green lawn all around. Literally a few minutes later we were already in the city, and immediately saw the green canal. Why the water in the sea is blue and the water in the canals is green, I don’t know. The fish living in it obviously don’t care - quite large fish swam there!

There's even a small island on the canal

Well, we walked further - we wanted to find a beach. It turned out to be very easy to do this, because, in fact, there is only one beach in Puerto Aventuras. Admission to it is free, as is to all beaches in Mexico (with the exception of beaches turned into so-called “ clubs” - with toilets, showers, a restaurant, like on, for example).

Beach in Puerto Aventuras

So, the beach in Puerto Aventuras is a little unusual - the approach is very smooth, and after 15-20 meters breakwaters are built, so it turns out that the water near the shore is quite shallow, warm and incredibly clean, and after the fences the “depth” begins and corals with fish . This is just the perfect place for children! Mine swam there for several hours and didn’t want to get out at all! Even little Sierra ran and fell into the water on her own.

The breakwater is made from large stones in the grid

Blue water to the right

To the left - blue water

It might be a little boring for adults, although some just lay on the chalkboard and chatted. Well, or you can snorkel behind the breakwater. True, I personally didn’t really like it there - corals immediately begin, even at shallow depths, so you have to swim and not stand on the “bottom”, and sometimes I like to stand and rest. Well, the corals there are nothing special - some small ones, overgrown with algae, and the fish are correspondingly small and not so colorful. Although, maybe it’s just difficult to surprise me with anything after the Red Sea.

This is a super place for children, you can’t find a better place!

Ideal water!

Mine didn't want to come out!

You can also go on a boat ride

We swam on this beach for a couple of hours, and then we planned to visit a cenote. We decided to leave the beach in a different way and walked along the sea to the right. Beautiful beach quickly ended and water began with corals covered with algae. And despite the fact that the water was still the same clear, the view there was no longer the same, and you couldn’t buy anything.

Seaweed ((

Although there are luxury houses and villas along the coast. The buildings are serious and I think the rent there is very expensive).

Beachfront villas in Puerto Aventuras

Living in such a house, you simply must have your own yacht!))

The houses in Puerto Aventuras are large and beautiful, not like the ones in Cancun and Playa del Carmen that you stumbled upon...

A chic kitchen on the street - you cook and admire the sea!

We reached the end, where a green canal blocked our way, and along it stood a house with a fence, so we were unable to get out there. I had to go back. There in one place there was a small gate and a sandy path, through which we walked to the road. True, we had to climb over the fence - apparently, the entrance to the beach had already been blocked from the road side, but they had not yet managed to do so from the beach side. In general, I advise you to return the same way you came!

The canal leads into the city

The same canal leads to the sea

On that road we turned right and after 5-10 minutes we came back to the entrance to the beach. Along the way we saw a private school and kindergarten - I think there is a demand for them. Another popular and environmentally friendly form of transport is golf carts. Getting around the city is just the thing.

A little small for a family, but just enough for one or two!

I must say that we liked Puerto Aventuras. My dad really wanted us to move there to live :). The city is small, very clean and well-groomed, with a beautiful beach and necessary infrastructure (schools, transport, supermarket). And now, sitting in a warm jacket and looking at these sunny photos with clear water, I’m starting to miss Mexico!
