Football field on a ship. The largest cruise ships in the world. Container ship Emma Mærsk

A famous showman and TV presenter, returning from a cruise Caribbean Islands on board the world's largest ship, told FACTS about the miracle ship and its exotic route

Andrey Dzhedzhula is one of the first of our compatriots who was lucky enough to travel on the world's largest cruise ship. Oasis ship of the seas, launched last year. The length of the 16-deck ship is about 361 meters, width - 66 meters, and height highest point above the water line - 72 meters. Designed for 6 thousand 360 passengers and 2 thousand 100 crew, the liner cost the customer almost one and a half billion dollars.

“A dress that sells for a thousand dollars in Kyiv can be bought for 150 in Miami”

This is a real city with a huge amount boutiques, restaurants, discos, swimming pools, fitness and spa centers,” Andrey Dzhedzhula shares his impressions. - Grandiose aqua shows and ice performances are organized on the ship. There is even a garden on board with about 12 thousand plants. Beautiful place! Every morning you wake up in a different place on the planet.

What was your route?

We started from Miami. We did some shopping there first, since some of my friends had “lost” their luggage. I never expected that everything that costs so much in Ukraine can cost so little there. For example, a dress that sells for a thousand dollars in Kyiv can be bought in Miami for 150 dollars.

After shopping we went to the port and, having checked in, got on board the ship - and much faster than you usually get on a plane. But about six thousand people registered! Everything is thought out: there are separate exits and entrances everywhere - depending on the location of the cabins on the ship. First stop - the pirate island of St. Thomas ( Virgin Islands). The pirate theme is reflected on all souvenirs here. Very beautiful beaches. Huge imposing iguanas crawl around the water! And so they strive to get under your feet. I even fed them. Then they landed on the island of Saint Martin, divided between the French and the Dutch. Half of the population on it has French passports, the other half has Dutch documents. And the island itself is the size of our Brovary (laughs). There are countless tourists here, so the prices for souvenirs are sky-high.

You are an experienced traveler. I wonder what shocked me this time?

The first shock, of course, was the ship itself. Huge football field, basketball court, stadium for fans morning jogging, rock-climbing slides, for extreme sports enthusiasts - a simulator of a high surf wave in a pool, a “bungee” on which you soar ten floors down in free flight…

I read that the ship is equipped with the latest technology.

This is true. Everything there is thought out to the smallest detail, there are ultra-modern elevators everywhere, including for the disabled. One of the passengers was completely motionless. Neither his legs nor his arms worked, the man did not part with a catheter and an oxygen mask. He steered his wheelchair using a special device in the pupil. By the way, there were a lot of travelers in electric chairs.

How long does it take to walk around the entire ship?

I admit, I still haven’t gotten around it in a week! Although he was constantly on the move.

On this a huge liner you can probably get lost…

No no! At every step there is a " virtual guide"in the form of an electronic model of the ship. You press a button or enter a word, and it becomes clear where you are in this moment or how to get from point A to point B.

Have you ever felt like you were not on a ship, but on land?

Yes, there was no pitching at all. You can put a wine glass on the table and it will not move a millimeter, the handle will not roll. Only once did the ship rock slightly when we were sailing off the coast of Haiti, where there was an earthquake. There was a terrible storm overboard at that time, but we felt only a slight vibration.

Are the cabins on the ship luxurious?

Nothing supernatural, but very comfortable, there are even two-story apartments. I took the "sea view" cabin. There were also so-called “courtyard” rooms, that is, with a view of the garden. Each cabin has a TV. One channel constantly broadcasts a live view from the bow of the ship.

“Ordering a limousine in New York is cheaper than taking several taxis for a large group.”

How were you fed? Was anything special served?

They prepared different dishes, and probably the entire world cuisine was represented! The ship employs personnel from 80 countries. A very unusual “floating bar”, which smoothly rises up and then falls down. Reminds me of a flying saucer.

You can probably get drunk in no time wearing this.

Yes (smiles). People drank there all the time.

Luxury hotels often give pleasant gifts to guests. Did they give you anything?

Only one passenger was given a gift. He lost 100 thousand dollars in a casino, and he was presented with four trips to this liner.

How for what? Valuable passenger! This one will play again and again.

By the way, how much did the trip cost you?

Expensive, more than a thousand dollars. On the liner, however, there was no need for cash at all. You pay for everything with a credit card. By the way, you enter it into the terminal when you leave the ship and when you return. This system is designed to ensure that none of the passengers are forgotten on the shore or lost. True, if a person does not show up on the ship on time, several thousand people are unlikely to wait for him.

What did you buy to remember your trip?

Fridge magnets - nothing special was found.

What struck you in Nassau?

Nassau is the port “registration” for many liners. There aren't any! Even the Disney ship exists for families with children. Our liner, of course, stood out for its size. He was taller than everyone else, grandiose.

Did you go back along the same route?

We didn't stop at all on the way back. It took exactly 24 hours to get to Miami, and from there we flew to New York. There, however, they experienced stress: they reported that Kennedy Airport was mined. We were not allowed off the plane for three hours. When everyone finally got out, they decided to do something nice for themselves: they ordered a limousine - it was cheaper than taking several taxis for a large group. In New York taxis, riding in the front seat is often prohibited. A special partition made of impenetrable glass separates the driver from the passengers. This is due to the fact that taxi drivers are often attacked. Given this situation, two or three people can fit in a taxi, and there were eight of us. And we fit in the limousine.

And we also feasted on the best sushi in the world in New York - huge, like our chops, made from the freshest fish, with a minimum of rice. What else? We visited the museum where the movie “Night at the Museum” was filmed, went to the Broadway musical “The Phantom of the Opera,” walked along Wall Street, took a helicopter tour over New York, and did a little shopping.

In a word, we had a great time…

The most big ships in the world

Description and dimensions of the largest ships that are afloat today.

Probably the largest ship in the history of mankind in terms of the use of usable space in the hold was Noah's Ark, and some sailing ships in the last century exceeded those existing today in size, but modern ocean monsters made of metal with a displacement of small lake impress with their size, power or luxury. Humanity continues to build towers of babel not only on land, but also at sea.

By far the most big ship in the world - Knock Nevis . This tanker is designed to transport fuel. Length 459 m, width - 24 m. The vessel's displacement is 565 thousand tons.

Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller is the world's largest container ship. Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller set out on its maiden voyage on July 15, 2013. Its length is 400 meters, width - 59 meters, capacity - 18,000 containers, carrying capacity - 165 thousand tons.

Its length is 400 meters, width - 59 meters, capacity - 18,000 containers, carrying capacity - 165 thousand tons.

The largest cruise ship is considered "Allure of the Seas" (Charm, Oasis of the Seas). It was put into operation in 2010. Its dimensions are: length - 362 meters, width - 66 meters, height - 72 meters. Displacement - 225 thousand tons.

Oasis of the Seas is the first ship to receive the Green Mark on its DNV (Det Norske Veritas) passport. This means that it is extremely environmentally friendly. An advanced wastewater treatment system is used that was designed to be twice as stringent as US federal standards for wastewater discharge at ports.

Another very famous cruise ship is "Queen Mary 2". It was built in France in 2003 and at that time was the largest cruise ship in the world. Length - 345 meters, width - 41, height - 71 m. Capacity 2600 people

« Prelude" - the largest floating installation for the production and liquefaction of natural gas.

The length of the vessel is 488 meters, width - 78 meters, displacement - 600 thousand tons. It is assumed that the platform will be moved using tugs. Only the lack of its own chassis does not allow the Prelude to be called a champion among giant ships. A platform is still not a ship.

4 football fields, located one behind the other, shorter than the installation deck.

The 6 largest aircraft carriers have a total displacement corresponding to that of the Prelude,
93 meters is the height of the platform column.

« Nimitz"is the largest aircraft carrier in the world. Displacement - 106,000 tons. Its length is 333 meters. Height - 73 meters. Deck width - 78 meters, thanks to which this giant can accommodate 64 aircraft and 26 helicopters). The Nimitz crew consists of more than 3 thousand people.

By the way, the Nimitz aircraft carrier can be operated for twenty years without changing its energy source power plant. This means that it can be safely sent to this long term on a long journey. The first aircraft carrier of this series was launched back in 1975.

Among the aircraft carriers of Europe and Asia, the ship named after the great admiral of the USSR Navy, Kuznetsov, stands out. This giant is considered one of the most powerful and largest.

The largest warship in Russia is a heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser, named in honor of the great admiral of the USSR Ministry of Fleet, Nikolai Gerasimovich Kuznetsov. It may be outwardly inferior to American aircraft carriers, but the real power of the ship lies in its weapons, protective equipment and the absolutely classified nuances of a warship. Let's hope we never find out which of these floating military airfields is cooler. This can only be verified in real combat conditions.

Characteristics Aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov"

Length - 305 meters.
The greatest width is 72 meters.
The width at the waterline is 35.0 meters.
Draft - 10.0 meters.
Standard displacement - 43 thousand tons

Maximum displacement - 58.6 thousand tons
Overall height - 65 meters.

Azzam- the most large yacht in the world. The 180-meter vessel was created at the German shipyard Lürssen Yachts. This yacht, whose name literally translates as “resolute,” was created especially for Caliph al-Nahyan, President United Arab Emirates. Despite its impressive dimensions, the yacht's draft does not exceed 4.5 meters. This factor, as well as two powerful engines of 90 thousand horses, allow the ship to reach speeds of more than 31 knots. The width of the vessel is also impressive - almost 21 meters. The ship cost its owner $610 million.

Five-masted sailboat "Royal Clipper"— the longest sailing ship at the moment can accommodate 227 people on board.

The length of the ship is 134.8 meters, width - 16.5 meters, displacement - 5,061 tons, sail area - 5,202 meters square.

Intended for cruising passenger travel, the Royal Clipper is equipped with additional electric and diesel engines (for low, silent travel, up to 8 knots).

The Royal Clipper has an automated sailing section designed by specialists from Choren Design & Consultancy. Now only twenty people are engaged in setting the sails, while the watch officer from the bridge gives “push-button” commands to the mechanized rotating yards, and the casting is done by powerful hydraulic winches.

The largest submarine in the world - heavy nuclear missile strategic submarine cruiser "Dmitry Donskoy"- the only representative of Project 941 "Akula" remaining in the Russian fleet.

This giant, as tall as a nine-story building and with a displacement of under 50 thousand tons, remains the largest submarine in history.

Length - 172 meters
Hull width 23.3 meters
Height 26 meters.

The world's largest flying vessel is an amphibious aircraft, currently Chinese seaplane AG600 rolled off the assembly line in Zhuhai in July 2016.

It is designed to extinguish fires and carry out rescue operations on water.. It can also be called a ship. After all, it floats on water using its own engines.

The largest river boat

Volgo-Don - river dry cargo ships designed for transporting bulk cargo (coal, ore, grain, crushed stone, etc.) along large inland waterways. They were built from 1960 to 1990 in the USSR, in total up to 225 ships of various series were built.

Length 138.3 meters.
Width 16.7 mm

In the 1990s, some vessels of the Volgo-Don type were reconstructed into the river-sea type, which allowed them to enter closed seas and make international flights, mainly in the Mediterranean basin and Baltic seas. Reconstructed ships are either shorter or have a higher bow and increased hold heights.

It is often expensive to transport cargo by air. And there are no aircraft in the world that can take 18,000 containers or an entire plant on board at a time.

8. Aircraft carrier USS Enterprise

An incredibly expensive and one-of-a-kind aircraft carrier. It was planned to build five ships of this class. Only one has been implemented, floating since 1961. The main reason why there are no other similar aircraft carriers: the cost of the ship is $451 million.

The main distinguishing feature of the vessel is nuclear fuel. One “refueling” is enough for 13 years. It is also the largest combat transport ship in the world: length - 342.3 meters.

7. Container ship “Christopher Columbus”

The length of the vessel is 365 meters. Capable of holding 13 thousand 300 six-meter containers. Made in accordance with all modern environmental requirements and standards: does not pollute the sea, produces virtually no carbon dioxide

6. Container ship MSC Daniela

Length - 366 meters. Holds 14 thousand 6-meter containers. The main feature is the special steel from which this container ship was built. Thanks to it, the thickness of the ship’s plating is smaller → the ship is an order of magnitude lighter than its colleagues in the workshop. But the strength is the same.

5. Container ship Emma Mærsk

Built in 2006 in Denmark - for the needs of Denmark. A little later they created 7 more of the same ships. Length - 396.84 meters. Capacity - from 11 to 14 thousand 6-meter containers.

The vessel is powered by a huge 2,300-ton diesel engine. There are a lot of technologies on board, thanks to which the environment and all sorts of environmental activists feel calm. Noteworthy: the crew is only 13 people.

4. Container ship Jules Verne

Ship of the French company CMA CGM. Length - 396 meters. Cargo capacity - 16 thousand 20 six-meter containers. Made in accordance with all eco-standards. On board is an incredibly powerful engine: it generates so much energy that it would be enough to supply a town with 16 thousand inhabitants.

Length - 399 meters. Power - two engines with a capacity of 43 thousand horsepower each. Loading capacity - 18 thousand 270 six-meter containers. The ship was built in South Korea- Daewoo company. Cost: $190 million. Launched in 2013. The crew is only 19 people.

From Denmark to Kaliningrad region a NATO ship arrived for a visit. The meeting between Russian and Danish sailors ended with sports competitions - tug of war and football match. I watched friendly fights NTV correspondent Veronika Nikolaeva.

Torpedo tubes, Moskit launchers, Uragan anti-aircraft missile system. The Commander-in-Chief of the Danish Navy, who arrived at the main base of the Baltic Fleet for the first time, is shown the weapons of the destroyer Bespokoiny.

The excursion lasts more than an hour, during breaks Rear Admiral Nilje Wang looks with excitement at the football field, where the Danish team is desperately fighting with a team of Baltic sailors.

Nilje Wang, Commander-in-Chief of the Danish Navy: “The Russian Navy is one of the leading in the world. Such visits are very important for us, it’s just a pity that our sailors lose.”

The visit of the NATO ship is purely business. It was conceived with the aim of developing relations with foreign armies. But for Russian and Danish sailors, the most interesting thing is sports competitions in which they can measure their strength. The football field is dirty and damp, but passions run high and the entire stock of foreign words is used.

Dan Owetsen, crew member of the frigate Olfert Fischer: “Good team, very strong. It’s hard to play with Russian sailors, we didn’t have the opportunity to train, we just got off the ship.”

Russian sailors are strong competitors, but they admit that it is easier to play on their home field. Our military prepared for the match for more than three months and as a result beat the Danes with a score of 6:2.

Alexey Leontyev, crew member of the destroyer Bespokoiny: “The Danes are excellent players, they attacked and scored. Our home field and the support of our guys helped us.”

The military frigate Olfert Fischer also prepared for the meeting. The foreigners lost the football match, but they are ready to surprise the Russians with fruit for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the presence of women among the ship’s personnel.

Lorin Peterson, crew member of the frigate Olfert Fischer: “We don’t think that a woman on a ship is a bad omen. We are treated with great respect as equal colleagues.”

What the Danes liked most about the visit was the Russian national sea sport - tug of war. Although they participated in it for the first time, they were not inferior to the Baltic.

The friendly match ended with a traditional photo for memory. From the military harbor of Baltiysk, the reconnaissance ship must set off to sea again. The Danes promised that by the next visit their crew would be not only in full combat, but also sports readiness.
