Prague is a fabulous city.

There is also a sculpture of John of Nepomuk. This one of the most revered saints of the Czech Republic was thrown from the bridge because he did not reveal to the king the secret of the queen’s confession. 33. Prague Castle

Prague Castle is the largest castle in the world; it can be safely included in the category “The main attractions of Prague” along with the Charles Bridge and Old Town Square. Previously, the kings of the Czech Republic and the Holy Roman Empire lived here, now the presidential residence is here - naturally, also the largest in the world. 34. St. Vitus Cathedral

The Gothic Cathedral of St. Vitus is considered one of the most beautiful churches in Europe. Founded back in 925, different rooms The temples were built until the 20th century. St. Wenceslas, the kings and archbishops of the Czech Republic are buried here, and now the Cathedral of St. Vitus is the seat of the Archbishop of Prague.

35. Basilica of St. George

36. Schwarzenberg Palace

The Schwarzenberg Palace in Prague was built in the mid-16th century and is considered one of the masterpieces of Czech Renaissance architecture. Now it houses a gallery of paintings by Czech artists and an exhibition of weapons. From the outside it seems that the palace is lined with relief tiles, but this is an optical effect: in fact, this is a very skillful painting.

37. Royal Garden

The Royal Garden is separated from Prague Castle by the Deer Moat. Here, for the first time, they began to grow such unusual plants for the Czech Republic as maple, chestnut, fig, and tulip. Before this, royal vineyards grew here.

38. Queen Anne's Summer Palace

Queen Anne is the wife of Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor. The Queen's Summer Palace was built in the eastern part of the Royal Garden in the 16th century. Nowadays, painting exhibitions are held here and the President of the Czech Republic sometimes receives guests.

40. Prague Loreta

Prague Loreta is a whole complex of buildings in the area of ​​Loreta Square. These are mainly religious buildings built in the 17th century, as well as two fountains. The biggest and beautiful building– Church of the Nativity of the Lord (pictured).

41. Strahov Monastery

Strahov Monastery in Prague was founded in the middle of the 12th century, and in the 17th century it was completely rebuilt after a fire. The largest library in the Czech Republic is located here, but the most interesting thing for tourists is the monastery brewery with tasty, but not divinely expensive beer. From the walls of the monastery there is a beautiful panoramic view of the sights of Prague, located on the opposite bank of the Vltava River.

42. Žižkov TV Tower

This tower deserves to be included in the list of “The main attractions of Prague” simply because many consider it the ugliest building in Prague (the eyeless babies climbing the tower alone are worth it). And this is also the most high building in the Czech Republic, height – 216 meters. At an altitude of 93 meters there is an observation deck with a dubious view - after all, it’s a bit far from the main attractions.

They say that in clear weather, the Žižkov TV Tower offers views even of neighboring countries.

43. Prague Zoo

The local zoo is considered one of the best in the world; there are almost five thousand animals from all over the world! 44. Troy Castle

Troy Castle (aka summer palace Troy) is located across the street from the Prague Zoo. Built at the end of the 17th century for local nobles, it is now located Art Gallery and a wine museum. To save money, you can buy a combined Troy Card ticket for 300 CZK and use it to visit three nearby Prague attractions: Troy Castle, Botanical Garden and a zoo.

Prague regularly experiences terrible floods. The last one was in August 2002. In the restaurant "Black Eagle" (hello to Lukyanenko's fans))) we saw this photo, in which a white arrow shows the unfortunate restaurant itself, almost up to the roof in water:


To complete our excursion program we decided to visit as many of the most interesting Prague pubs as possible)) In one of them, the “Old Town Brewery”, on the tables there are these napkins with a plan of this very underground restaurant. It should be noted that there really are such long labyrinths there! On the way to the toilet you can get lost 5 times))

Lovers gothic style in architecture will certainly be appreciated with its legendary Golem - this most interesting place not only in the Czech Republic, but throughout Central Europe, it has retained its original appearance for about 700 years.

All Czech cities are interesting and unique in their own way; you can “read” the history of the Czech Republic from them, like from a book. The urban complex located in the south of the country is especially interesting. The cities of Telč, Olomouc, Cesky Krumlov, Brno, Kutna Hora will leave a deep imprint in the memory due to their uniqueness and originality. But visiting the Czech Republic and not wandering around Prague is unforgivable, because this city is unlike any other. Architectural monuments, gothic castles, fortifications, and narrow, seemingly endless streets where you can wander for hours - isn’t this enough to fall in love with Prague once and for all?

Having decided to visit the capital of the Czech Republic, you must definitely plan a visit to see with your own eyes, , and. And good food and beer, which is rightfully considered one of the best in the world, will only enhance the pleasant impression of Prague.

Today it spans the Vltava River, but it was created back in the 14th century and was built over the course of 50 long years. Just imagine: a real gallery located under open air and stretching for 516 meters, is decorated with 30 sculptural compositions. One of them is very connected interesting legend. To keep the queen's confession secret, Charles IV ordered John of Nepomuk to be thrown into the dark waters of the Vltava. It is believed that the sculpture of John of Nepomuk can make wishes come true, so tourists consider it their duty to rub the statue in the hope of fulfilling their cherished dreams. Why not try, what if?..

Prague Castle is both the historical and political center of the capital of the Czech Republic. This is where the president's residence is located. Although there are a great many attractions in Prague Castle, it deserves special mention. This temple is unique in that (just imagine!) it took 500 years to build. And today this building, striking in its splendor, combines several architectural styles: Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. Well, the youngest historical district Prague is considered Nove Mesto. There is no doubt that despite the “youth”, there is also something to see here. It is adjacent to the heart of the area. Here is the most interesting and ancient museum collection in Prague. Not far away is this austerely beautiful building that was built and then rebuilt over the course of 200 years. Any educated person knows the literary hero Faust. So, it is here that there is a house in which chemists lived, whom popular rumor connected with the famous doctor who exchanged his own soul for scientific knowledge. Another interesting attraction of Prague is. The office building consists of two towers: an ordinary tower and a destructive one.

If, after everything you’ve read, you still have doubts about whether it’s worth wasting your time visiting Prague, then cast them aside immediately. You can plan, in general, at any time of the year. The maximum daytime temperature in January is -1.1 °C, in August +24.1 °C, the night temperature in January usually does not fall below -4 °C, and in August reaches +13.4 °C.
