Something Italian: IMHO about Riccione. Riccione: the green pearl of the Adriatic Which is better to choose Rimini or Riccione

Spacious, well-equipped beaches, boutiques, clubs, water parks, discos on the hills, and a secular beach at the mouth of the Marano attract many young people who appreciate a fun party.

Rimini

For 160 years now, Rimini has enjoyed well-deserved recognition among lovers of holidays by the sea. His secret is his warmth local residents, hospitality of hotels and 15 kilometers of beaches (230 resort towns, 1200 hotels, many amusement parks), but that’s not all: Rimini is a city with a 2000-year history that has preserved many works of art.

The sea here is more than a way of life, it’s Fellini’s films come to life, the myth of summer life, renewed annually, it’s the magic of winter fogs...

But above all, Rimini is a crossroads cultural traditions, the noble capital of the Signoria of Malatesta, which has preserved many evidences of a glorious past.

Speaking about the architectural heritage of Rimini, it is worth noting that here you can see masterpieces from the times Ancient Rome until the Renaissance. This is the Arch of Emperor Augustus, Tiberius Bridge, Sismondo Castle, Malatesta Temple, the ancient Roman Piazza Tre Martiri (Three Martyrs Square), the medieval Piazza Cavour. The City Museum houses 1,500 exhibits related to its history, and in the archaeological site “House of the Surgeon” you can admire the instruments of a surgeon and a pharmacist, preserved from the times of Ancient Rome.

What could be better than a barefoot walk along the seashore? In Rimini, this is considered the best end to the day, both during the summer crowds and during the winter melancholy and loneliness.

It is believed that it was in Rimini that trends that spread throughout the world began: street bars, happy hour, beach aperitifs; seaside dinner, next games and Nordic sand walking. There is entertainment here for every taste and age.

Those who want to combine a beach holiday with a therapeutic one should pay attention to Rimini Terme, an ultra-modern thermal complex for body and soul.

The Adriatic coast of Romagna has the largest number of theme parks. From Ravenna to Cattolica there are 18 of them! The most famous are Fiabilandia (for kids), Oltremare, Mirabilandia and Aquafan.

Before leaving Rimini, stop by its marina, one of the most beautiful and modern tourist ports in the Mediterranean. The pedestrian zone, raised above the water, opening directly into the sea, is 1300 meters long. And to get to know better the life and customs of sailors and fishermen, it’s worth signing up for the “Exploring Porto Canale” excursion or stopping by the city’s large fish market.

Rimini never sleeps; life is in full swing here around the clock. But the entertainment here is decent and never overly shocking. Every evening in one place or another in Rimini there are parties where all the bohemians gather: in the port, marina, on the promenade or on the beach. The historic center is also full of restaurants, pubs and wine bars, especially around the old fish market (Vecchia Pescheria) in Piazza Cavour, Rimini's main meeting place.

Riccione

Viale Ceccarini is the main “salon” of Riccione. It's crowded here day and night. One glance at boutique windows is enough to understand current fashion trends.

Riccione will also appeal to those who are not strangers to cultural tourism. Villa Francesca, built at the beginning of the 20th century, houses a gallery of modern art, and located on the embankment near Viale Ceccarini, Villa Mussolini ( summer residence Duce) nowadays exhibitions and cultural events take place.

However, Riccione would not be Riccione if not for his famous night life, like a magnet attracting young people to discos organized on the hills.

Be sure to visit the amusement parks too. Aquafan is literally flocked by young people and families every summer to have fun in the pools, slides and water attractions. Oltremare Park is located nearby. This is a great opportunity to learn about the wonders of nature, and the visit ends with a dolphin show. Inside the Imax theater you can immerse yourself in Magic world three-dimensional cinema.

And there are so many entertainment venues here where you can meet friends or meet new ones. Everyone without exception will find music to their taste. The most famous and popular discos among young people are located on the hills, they are called “Kokoriko” and “Nu Ecous”. There are many nightclubs in the Marano area, bordering Rimini. This is where the most fashionable parties of the summer season take place.

Since the 80s, Riccione Terme has become famous as thermal resort, offering a variety of wellness treatments. The thermal baths are literally a stone's throw from the sea; the park of the complex occupies as much as 40 hectares. Its wellness and aesthetic cosmetology departments are especially popular.

How to get there

By car
Coming from the north: Motorway A1 Milano-Bologna, then A14 Bologna-Bari. From the west: SS/SP 258 Marecchiese Arezzo-Rimini, then SS 16 Adriatica towards the south. From the South: Motorway A14 Bari-Bologna, exit Riccione. Then SS 16 Adriatica Ostuni-Ferrara, SS3 Flaminia Roma-Fano, then SS 16 Adriatica heading north.

Riccione, along the coast Adriatic Sea just 5 km from the center of Rimini, it is often compared to the social salon of the Roman Riviera, access to which is open only to the rich and famous. In fact, this resort is quite friendly and democratic. Here you can have a great time in splendid isolation, in a noisy company, with a loved one, with children or parents. Of course, the cost of a vacation will be slightly higher than the average in Italy, but even 100 years ago Riccione was considered something of a suburban aristocratic quarter, and, you see, you have to pay extra for the brand.

Climate and weather

The weather in Riccione is another indisputable reason for visiting the resort. Due to the fact that the city is located on the coast, “covered” by the spurs of the Alps and the foothills of the Apennines, there are no sharp temperature changes here either in winter or in summer.

Due to the fact that the city is located on the coast, there are no sudden temperature changes

Due to the subtropical monsoon climate characteristic of the region, the resort has high humidity, rain is common at any time of the year, and short-term downpours are possible. Fortunately, during the high season (July, August) the weather is extremely favorable: precipitation occurs no more than once a week, and there are no strong winds.

The season starts in mid-May and lasts until the end of September. Air temperature is the most comfortable, 25-27 °C, water temperature – 23-25 °C. The hottest month is August: the weather in Riccione is almost cloudless, the air temperature during the day is 27-29 °C, at night - 17-19 °C, and the water warms up at the beginning of the month to 24-26 °C.

How to get there

Getting to the resort will not be difficult: the Federico Fellini airport, which we are talking about, is located just between Rimini and Riccione. From the airport to the resort you can get there in 20-30 minutes by train, taxi or rented car (motorway No. 14).

From morning to late evening, buses No. 11, 58, 124, 134, 171, 172, 174,175, 180 and trolleybus No. 11 run between Rimini and Riccione. Travel time is from 25 to 40 minutes, depending on the route. The fare is 2.10 € (2017). From other cities in Italy you can get there by bus or train (without a transfer to Rimini only from Ancona).

If you consider renting a car in the region, it is better to rent a car through a large European car rental price comparison service. This usually works out much more economically. You can compare car rental prices in Riccione itself or the nearest Rimini airport on this page.

Resort hotels

There are about 400 hotels of various categories in Riccione, including small aparthotels converted from private villas and bad&breakfast mini-hotels. Oddly enough, but a 5-star hotel (international chain Grand Hotel) only one. Among the 4-star ratings were such world “celebrities” as Tiffany, Atlantic and Ascot.

Hotels in Riccione have one distinctive feature - the absence of large swimming pools on their territory. Some hotels do not have pools at all. This is explained quite simply: many hotels in Riccione are located directly on the Promenade of the Republic (lines 1 and 2) and close to the balneary facilities ( thermal springs) and balneological complexes, the largest of which is Riccione Term.

Hotels within the city, but at some distance from the sea, are also not empty. Beach holiday– not the most important thing, much more interesting for guests of hotels located above Milano street (main highway city, running parallel to the embankment), represents shopping.

The best shops are on Via Ceccarini and Via Antonio Gramsci. Tourists with children will have a great time both in a coastal hotel and in a hotel near the Aquafan water park, on the western outskirts of the resort.

What to see in Riccione and the surrounding area

Let's be honest: there are no special attractions in the resort, and most of the objects that are worth seeing in Riccione are related to the history of the city. But the main thing, where the unspoken name of the resort came from – “Green Pearl” – is the gardens and parks.

Park Montanari is located next to the main square - Piazza Curiel, Parc della Resistenza, laid out in the 70s. last century, famous for its botanical delights, the park named after John Paul II is famous as a place for secluded walks. Business card city - a huge shell with a pearl from the La Perla mini-park, opposite the Palace of Tourism.

Numerous boutiques of leading fashion houses are located on Via Ceccarini

About the history of the resort in ancient times and you can find out what ancient attractions to see in Riccione in the Museum of the Territories, which is located on Toscana Street.

Already in the 13th century. The city was “loved” by aristocrats. In 1260, on a large hill in its vicinity, representatives of the Agolanti family, expelled from the city, began to build a castle, but found shelter and protection from the Malatesta family, rulers of Rimini.

Castello Agolanti was famous as a venue for festivities of the medieval nobility. In 1786, as a result of an earthquake, the castle was badly damaged, but at the end of the last century it was restored, and now tourists enjoy visiting it.

Another victim of the late 18th century earthquake. – Church of St. Martin of the 13th century, located in the very center of the city. To the credit of the Catholic Italians, after the destruction it was restored almost instantly, and already in 1789 it was consecrated again.

Back in the 16th century. Blessed Alessio, the patron saint of Riccione, was buried in her cemetery. In 1702, his relics were transferred to the church, where they are kept to this day. Interesting temple, built in the 20th century. – the church of Santa Maria Mater Admiralibis with an unusual altar created in 1966-67. painter Giovanni Lerario.

The entire European elite comes out on the evening promenades on Via Ceccarini

In 1934-1944, Riccione literally did not leave the pages of newspapers and magazines: Villa Margherita on the embankment of the Republic became the property of the Mussolini couple. Today the villa hosts excursions on the history of tourism.

Like a resort where wealthy Italians and wealthy tourists could relax on the beach and get medical treatment healing waters, Riccione began to develop only with late XIX c., largely thanks to Dr. Ceccarini and his wife Maria.

Much later, the main pedestrian street, Viale Maria Ceccarini, was named after her. Today this street is a real podium, where the entire European elite comes out for evening promenades, having replenished their wardrobe here, in numerous boutiques of leading fashion houses.

To the southwest of the castle (Via Ascoli Piceno, 6) there is one of the largest European water parks, Aquafan. It is noteworthy that it was built back in 1987, becoming the first structure of its kind in Italy.

In summer the water park is open from 10 to 18:30. On its territory, in addition to various water attractions, located theme park Oltremare, where you can get acquainted with the history of the development of the planet interactively and communicate live with land and sea animals.

Beaches

By and large, there is only one beach in Riccione, but what a beach! Along the entire coast stretches a wide sandy strip about 7 km long, dotted with the caps of thousands of umbrellas. The sand is fine and the entrance to the water is gentle.

True, there is one nuance that can not only overshadow the holiday, but somewhat limit freedom of movement: almost all the beaches here are private, that is, they belong to hotels or balneological complexes. Entrance fee is charged for everyone; for hotel guests there is only a small discount of 20-25%. There are about 150 private beaches in total.

A wide sandy strip about 7 km long stretches along the entire coast

Children's playgrounds with swings and slides, sports grounds, water skiing, canoeing - there is everything for active rest. Those who want relaxation, but do not crave activity, go to spa centers for the coveted relaxation.

All beaches have their own unique style, in some places even “heraldic”: umbrellas and sun loungers, pavilions, bathing cabins, awnings and sofas under awnings at each beach of a strictly defined color with a single pattern.

The Italians themselves spend the whole day on the coast with a break for lunch and the obligatory siesta (from 14-15 to 16-16:30), and tourists - at their own discretion, from early morning until 20:00, when the beaches close, passing the “baton » clubs and beach restaurants.

How to entertain a child in Italy!!!

The Adriatic Riviera has enough developed infrastructure entertainment and boasts magnificent amusement parks, since there are no other theme parks in Italy like in this zone: “Italy in Miniature” - 270 architectural wonders and landscapes of Italy and Europe, “Mirabilandia” - a grandiose amusement park, “Fiabilandia” "- a fabulous amusement park for children, numerous water parks (among them Aquafan - the largest in Europe) and dolphinariums. In addition to them, in Rimini itself, Luna Park is open every evening and numerous halls with slot machines are open...

Before the birth of the child, my husband and I managed to visit a lot of places and did not want to give up traveling after the birth of the child. When our daughter turned one year old, we began planning our first trip with the child. Of course, we were worried, it’s one thing when you go by yourself, it’s completely different when you take a child with you, and even for the first time. But, having decided not to panic, we began to choose a place to rest.

When choosing a vacation spot with a small child, it was important for me:

  • a short flight (realizing full well that all children tolerate it differently, I decided for the first time to choose a direction with a short flight time);
  • absence of sudden climate change;
  • availability in walking distance stores where you can buy everything you need for your child;
  • sandy beach with a smooth entrance to the sea.

We planned our vacation for the beginning of September, deciding that it wouldn’t be too hot for the baby, the sea would be warm, there wouldn’t be as many people as in high season, and we ourselves are lovers of the Mediterranean in September.

Taking advantage of the traveler's accumulated experience and the advice of a friend living in the city of Rimini, which is quite popular among our compatriots, we began to look for a resort on the Adriatic coast. Rimini was quickly abandoned as an option for a holiday with a child in Italy: too many vacationers, noisy bars and discos, it was not our option, we wanted comfort and tranquility. And then the choice fell on the town of Riccione, which is literally five kilometers from Rimini, but, nevertheless, is strikingly different from it.

Riccione

The flight took only three hours, the child, who was woken up at three in the morning and did not sleep a wink until boarding the plane, slept the entire way, the transfer from Rimini airport took less than an hour. And here we are in a place that is rightly called the “Green Pearl of the Adriatic”.

I’ll say a little about the hotel, it’s not about it now, but it’s worth mentioning: it’s called Diamond, four stars, good food, pleasant animation for children (games on the beach, a children’s disco, and a lifesaver service - the opportunity to leave the child with nannies-animators at dinner time). In general, the hotel, which, in my opinion, has a good price-quality ratio.

Riccione left the warmest memories in my memory: calm, clean, cozy, green, in my opinion, the complete opposite of Rimini. You can walk around the city in about an hour. In the evening, the central streets of the city are closed to traffic and become pedestrian.

On the embankment there is a small children's amusement town where you can ride carousels, trains, jump on a trampoline, and dance with animators. In the center of the city there is a carousel similar to the one that used to stand near central entrance to Gorky Park. This carousel was our Mecca: my daughter loved to ride on it, and the prices for “travel” were pleasantly different from those in Moscow.

Riccione will appeal to lovers of cycling: in almost every hotel you can rent a bicycle for free and ride all day long; there is a separate bicycle path on the embankment, allowing you to get to both Rimmini, which is located north of Riccione, and Cattolica, located to the south. Most bicycles are equipped with child seats for toddlers.

Riccione - small resort town with a population of about 30 thousand people. Despite this, the city has everything you need: a couple of large supermarkets where you can find everything, or almost everything for a child (diapers, baby food, milk and so on), railway station, developed public transport network.

Beaches of Riccione

As in many European countries, most of the beaches in Italy are paid, we paid for two weeks at once, and for this we received the purest fine sand and good quality sun beds under a canopy. On each paid beach - and in Riccione there are about 200 beaches, with a length coastline about seven kilometers - there is a children's playground with a slide, a tunnel, a house and swings for the little ones.

Being on one beach, you can easily go to the territory of the neighboring one, so the baby will have something to do while walking. You can, of course, visit the free beach, but when vacationing with a child, I would not recommend doing this: there are no sunbeds and umbrellas there, and the sand is strewn with cigarette butts.

We were lucky with the weather: it was moderately hot for two weeks, the water in the sea was warm, clean and calm.

The bulk of vacationers in September are pensioners and families with small children, many of whom are Italians. Our blond, blue-eyed daughter quickly made many friends on the beach among her Italian grandparents, who showered her with compliments and were happy to play with her. During our entire holiday in Italy with our child, we were left with the feeling of warmth and good nature emanating from them.

Holidays in Italy with children: what to visit?

Since we were vacationing with a small child, we long trips we didn't go. For those who are interested excursion program, in Riccione it is similar to that offered in Rimini. For reference, the distance to Rome is about 230 kilometers, Florence 115 kilometers, Venice 165 kilometers. The distances, in general, are not small, but feasible.

But very close, just thirty kilometers away, is located Republic of San Marino. This place is known as one of the smallest states in Europe. We walked around the historical center and enjoyed the nice view. This place attracts those who like to shop as a duty-free shopping zone. A completely tireless trip, even with a baby.

Worthy of attention and historical center of Rimini, after all, the city played an important role during the Roman Empire. You can get there from Riccione by bus; the trip takes about half an hour.

Now I will dwell in more detail on leisure time with children. Located in Rimini amusement park "Fiabilandia"“, where you can watch thematic performances, performances, visit a mini-zoo, terrarium and aquarium. The park's attractions will also not leave children indifferent. The journey from Riccione takes about twenty-five minutes. Speaking of parks: 45 kilometers from Riccione, there is another amusement park, the largest in Italy and the third largest in Europe (after Disney Land Paris and Porta Aventura, located in Salou, Spain).

There is also an aquarium in Rimini; the road from Riccione will not be tiring, and children of all ages and adults will be interested in looking at fish, crabs and other marine flora.

For lovers of water attractions, the ideal water park is located in Riccione and is called “Aquafan”. Adult visitors will enjoy extreme slides and a swimming pool with imitation of ocean waves; for children, the park has a separate area with swimming pools, slides and a playground.

Impressions of a holiday in Italy with a small child

How we relax is entirely up to us, regardless of the place and circumstances of the trip. When vacationing with a small child, you can find the opportunity to see something new, rather than sit still, considering the child a burden. And what a happiness it is to see your contented little one swimming in the sea, and not sit on the beach with excitement and longing and think about how he is at home, without mom and dad.

For those who believe that a child at this age does not understand or remember anything, I can say that my daughter looked with great pleasure at the photographs taken during her vacation, and I believe that she received her piece of happiness on this trip, although she , at that time, was a little over a year. The baby endured the flight well; we did not have colds, otitis media, or stomach upsets during our vacation. Only positive emotions.

The next year, inspired by our experience of the first trip, we went on vacation with the child again, this time to Greece, but that’s another story, and also very joyful for us.
