This summer, prices for holidays in Cyprus from our city were steep, there were no decent last-minute tours (and not illiquid goods passed off as last-minute tours by skilled travel agents), but I wanted to go to Cyprus, because... A few days spent on my birthday in May were not enough for me personally.
We stayed at the hotel from 09/01/19 to 09/08/19 (7 nights).
I booked the tour on 08/31/19, there were few price options, and the prices were still high. But I wanted to have a quick rest (just looking at the rating and photos, and not carefully studying the description, location and reviews, as usual), I chose Anastasia 4* in Protaras (I wanted Ayia Napa, but the prices there were even higher). However, after going through everything passport controls, having an hour left before departure, I decided to read the reviews and I felt terrified: “loud music, you won’t be able to sleep at night, the beach is just a puddle,” for me, a vacation at sea is always, first of all, the sea itself, well, restful, healthy sleep (not discos and excessive libations).
Transfer.
It took 45 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel (this is even taking into account check-in at huge amount hotels, ours was almost the last).
Check-in.
Check-in according to the hotel rules is after lunch (like, after 14:00, I don’t remember, because it didn’t concern us: we arrived just after this time). At the reception, two Russian girls gave us a form, took our passports, gave us a key, and we went to our room by elevator to the third floor.
Interior
The area itself, the hall, the bar on the ground floor and the restaurants are decorated in a modern minimalist style, which I love, I especially liked the reception, the furniture and the interior colors.
Number.
The furniture is a bit old, the curtains are dirty and all in holes and scuffs, no more than 40 percent of the required number of hooks were present on them (I’m not picky, but it doesn’t cost that much to replace, and the experience will be much better), there are two beds, the mattresses are comfortable , the bed was snow-white and smelled delicious, there was a TV, but it was never turned on, as well as a refrigerator and a safe, the plumbing was in good condition (and what is always important for me, the dryer for wet clothes was in excellent condition, without plaque or rust, which things can get spoiled), the shower worked perfectly, there were no problems with hot water or setting it up, towels were changed every day, always snow-white and fragrant.
The room also had: tea, coffee (which were not replenished even once during the week), a kettle, tea pairs and glasses, a hairdryer, shower gel, soap, shampoo (they were replenished, but we had to remind them a couple of times and call the reception), bathrobes (in quite excellent condition).
The balcony is small, but there is enough space for two, the chairs and table are not made of plastic, they are comfortable, before going to bed we sat and enjoyed the warm evenings, realizing that the harsh Ural autumn had already arrived at home and during the day it was no higher than 11 degrees with constant rain and a gray, hopeless sky.
Territory.
On the territory there is a fairly large swimming pool, divided into a children’s area and a deeper area, it really wasn’t crowded, there are a lot of sun loungers, there is some kind of animation, but I don’t know more about it, because... I prefer the sea to swimming pools. The water in the pool is warm and the pool is clean.
There is also a water park, many vacationers with children, the water park is very good for children, there are quite a sufficient number of slides. My husband and I had the HB system, everyone who had ALL could use the water park for free and without restrictions, but for me in Cyprus ALL is not an option, you have to travel around it, and not sit in a hotel)))
Location.
The hotel is located in Protaras, the place is quite quiet and remote from nightlife(quiet resort village, where there is nowhere to go in the evening, except for restaurants, cafes or shops), BUT: a large disco area was installed next to the hotel (right on the beach), and on the first night we were simply stunned by the sound: with the windows and balcony closed, the air conditioning turned on You could go deaf! It felt like the glass was vibrating. And so on until 01.30!!!
This was our first night at the hotel (from September 1st to 2nd - from Sun to Mon), I was completely disappointed that I chose a hotel for the first time in my life without looking, but in the following days, to my happiness, there were no discos (as we found out, the disco usually happens on weekends), a couple of times in the evenings there was live music in the bar across the street, but it was not so loud and we slept with a closed balcony.
As our hotel guide, the hotel owners can't do anything about the disco, because... the latter belongs to some high-ranking local official, and he is not going to take anyone into account, that is, there is and will be a disco. Although hotel guests constantly swear at the reception that it is impossible to sleep, even to the point of swearing and assault, there is no result.
Nutrition
We had the HB system, breakfasts and dinners were quite decent for 4*, you could always find something tasty, but without frills. With this system, drinks for dinner are for an additional fee; during breakfast, juices, coffee, and tea are included. There was a small selection of fruits, nectarines and peaches were unripe, melon and watermelon were unsweetened, there were delicious bananas, oranges, and grapefruits. There was a children's table for children, but I didn't pay attention to what was offered there. Very tasty ice cream is also served.
All the food is prepared quite tasty, there is always enough meat and there is a choice (beef, lamb, pork, chicken). So we didn't go hungry.
The waiters were helpful, friendly, immediately took away dirty dishes and cutlery, offered drinks on time and quickly brought them at the right temperature, and were not intrusive. A glass of wine in the hotel restaurant costs 3.5 euros, but I didn’t like the quality of the wine.
Dinner included in the HB system can be exchanged for lunch by notifying the reception on the same day in the morning, where you will be given a piece of paper indicating that you have exchanged dinner for lunch.
Safe
The safe in the room is paid, the price is 15 euros per week, 2.5 euros per day. For UALL, the safe, like the water park, is free.
WiFi
For the first time in all my travels, I encountered such backwardness (or greed, I don’t even know): the hotel does not have free wi-fi even at the reception, and this is a 4* hotel! They offer exclusively paid wi-fi - for 10 euros per day (24 euros per week) for two devices, in the end we bought a local SIM card and were online not only in the hotel, but everywhere. Even in India, in a 2* hotel, I had FREE Internet at the reception.
Sea and beach
The beach is literally 15 meters from the hotel fence, one might say the 1st line. But it’s not just small, it’s tiny)))) A leisurely 15-20 minutes walk along the embankment to the right there is a large beach, with a very convenient entrance, without stones and with beautiful fine sand. We swam on it instead of the hotel one on the first day.
Beach towels are issued with a deposit of 10 euros per 1 piece. We went to change them every day for clean ones.
Cleaning
They clean every day, they wash well, they don’t forget about the dishes, they change the towels for clean ones, but, as I wrote above, they forget to replenish tea, coffee and gels, shampoos, and soaps.
Staff
The Russian girls at the reception are not particularly friendly, to put it mildly, for the first time in my life I was greeted at the reception with such unconscionable faces, they answer carelessly and with a sense of favor; what is the reason for this, I don’t understand at all. I booked a table at a fish restaurant in Ayia Napa myself, but called the reception (since it’s free) and asked to tell me which code to dial correctly. local number, so they suggested to me, but also with a dissatisfied look and with a big favor (in short, I want to say to the hotel owners that with such an attitude towards guests, my mood personally deteriorated literally within a minute even upon check-in, and the desire to come to the hotel again disappeared completely, work with staff or hire others).
I already wrote about the waiters: they are very polite and unobtrusive, smiling.
Gym and indoor pool
The hotel has an indoor swimming pool in the basement and gym, their use is free for all guests, regardless of the food system.
Parking
The hotel has ample parking, renting a car was very convenient.

The Anastasia 4* Hotel, reviews of which note this pattern, is no exception.

Despite these shortcomings, "Anastasia" is perfect for a quiet family vacation, for older couples, as well as for small groups of friends.

Everything is dirty: the reception desk is covered in dust; in the room there are dirty curtains, walls, tiles in the bathroom, doors with smudges, furniture, gray sheets, a crib; in the restaurant where breakfast is served, dirty chairs, tablecloths, places for serving food, dishes (especially forks), containers for collecting garbage on tables; in the halls there is dirty carpet with small debris, bags of garbage, the elevator is dirty, there is hair on the side of the pool. 2. Restaurant staff - at least 10% in dirty clothes. Administrator Evgenia did not have a badge and did not immediately admit how to contact her. The manager confidently replies that such a degree of contamination of the calving is normal, because... 600 people live at the same time. 3. The lock in my room did not open twice during the evening, I had to contact the reception service. To compensate for the time spent, we provided a free lunch for 2 adults and one child under 2 years old. The restaurant where lunch is held is the only clean place. 4. The quality of breakfast food is disgusting. The quality of lunch dishes corresponds to the level of fast food in Russian cities. 5. The water in the pool smells strongly of chlorine. In the sea, at knee-deep depths, sharp stones begin to appear. On the beach there are almost black stones, insects such as woodlice are found in them. Near the beach there are quite frequent swampy puddles with a corresponding smell. To the nearest nice beach walk for 20-25 minutes. 6.. maximum 25 sq. (visually), if you count the balcony. The appearance of the room also does not correspond to the photographs, while the furniture is the same, but only old and dirty. The bed below had a torn bottom, there were signs of flooding with peeling paint on the ceiling, and the curtains were torn from the curtain rod. 7. During breakfast, water spilled out of the juice machine; it was wiped up with beach towels, which were then left on the floor to prevent further water from spreading. 8. Our trip consisted of two parts: 7 days in Protaras and 4 days in Ayia Napa. Perhaps due to age, we liked Protaras much more. Variety of nearby beaches and reasonable prices played a decisive role. In Protaras, wherever you go along the embankment, everywhere is beautiful and calm in its own way. The sea is very beautiful, regardless of whether it is a sandy beach or rocks. Ayia Napa reminded us of Anapa, there was nowhere to go for a walk, the sea was knee-deep, and on the beaches everyone was in each other’s heads, and this was at the end of the Maya... We liked the Anastasia Hotel after the fact, as they say, everything is learned by comparison. At first we were embarrassed that the balcony of the room overlooked the roadway, and we took the cheapest room, and the roar was annoying tourist buses, which brought tourists in the morning or late in the evening. On the other hand, there was excellent sound insulation when the door was closed. I especially want to note the incredible sensitivity of the air conditioner, it responded to every degree, and set the temperature according to the time of day and mood. Believe me, this is best hotels You won't always find Europe. Another important point is that the sockets worked without a room card and you could charge your phones not only while you were in the room. The staff is extremely responsive! The circumstances so happened that my husband and I flew on different flights, me in the morning, and he in the evening. My husband called that he was late for dinner and I asked to take some food to the room. They brought me salads, meat with side dishes, and fruits at no extra charge. By the way, as for the food, I can’t help but write that the food was very plentiful, tasty and always varied. The breakfasts are such that before dinner there was no thought of going for a snack. And of course ice cream... strawberry popsicle in white chocolate for free.... like a child, I couldn’t tear myself away)). And in Ayia Napa, in a restaurant for a lot of money, I ordered the famous Kleftiko (lamb stew), so I cried, remembering how delicious this dish was prepared in Anastasia and how poorly it was in a street restaurant. Particular attention should be paid to the water park.

Cleaning is bad! The cleaning ladies were smoking next to the room and the stench was coming into our room. There is no Wi-Fi, or rather it is paid and very expensive. The room is small and cramped! TV sometimes just didn't work. There are no mosquito bars and the mosquitoes are biting! The plumbing is old, covered in scale and rust.. Accommodation for 10 nights

    • Room cleaning. It was so dusty that I had to wipe the surfaces with wet wipes before putting things away. The balcony was dirty. There are candy wrappers and pieces of paper lying around in the corridors. The day before our departure, a group of Austrian pensioners stopped by. By the time they arrived, everything had been cleaned and continued to be washed. It was a shame that such conditions were not organized for us.

    Very welcoming and friendly staff throughout the hotel, I would especially like to mention the waiters in the restaurant. Delicious, varied food. Breakfasts were mostly traditional, and there was even multigrain porridge. Soft fresh croissants. Delicious cookies. The dinners are great. There was always something new and varied food. I really liked the ice cream. The rooms are cozy, the beds are soft. We booked 2 rooms and were very glad that we were given rooms next door. There was a side view of the sea. Amazing! Linen was changed every 3 days. Towels every day. It's great that there is free parking. Wi-fi 24€/week worked great.
