Tersane Shipyard

This building is located next to the Red Tower, by the sea. The structure is impressively massive - 56 by 44 meters, with five arches-shaped passages and deep galleries 40 meters deep. An absolutely monumental structure from the Seljuk times was erected here in the first half of the 13th century. Moreover, this structure was built quite quickly, in about a year. When the shipyard was completed, the ruler Aladdin Keykubat, under whom all this happened, finally carried out his old dream, to become the “sultan of two seas,” and at the same time this building prevented a potential attack by enemies from the eastern side. On the left you can see a small mosque and outbuildings. Today this shipyard is a marina for small ships, and is also a very popular tourist attraction, especially in the evenings. The best way to admire this ancient structure is from the sea, from a boat or yacht, which is what many tourists do.

Kyzylkule Tower

The city owes the construction of this tower to the same Aladdin Keykubat. The tower was built for defensive purposes, in the city harbor. Kizilkule translated from Turkish means “Red Tower” because it was built of red brick. This tower is now a symbol of Alanya and is even depicted on the city’s flag. The walls of the octagonal building are about 8 km long. The tower is 29 meters in diameter and about 33 meters in height. Overall, a powerful and impressive design. A beautiful-looking legend takes on true colors: not so long ago, scientists proved that this amazing sand, which so softly caresses your feet when you step along Cleopatra’s beach, is found only in northern Africa. In all likelihood, it was from there that it was brought as a gift to the captivating queen.

One way or another, the unique sand is considered a national treasure of Turkey and is very strictly protected: for example, you cannot walk on the beach in shoes, and before going back to the city, tourists voluntarily take a shower - apparently, so as not to inadvertently take a couple of priceless grains of sand with them. Sapadere Canyon is one of the canyons in Turkey, which is located forty-eight kilometers north of Alanya and twenty kilometers from Demirtas.

Alanya Fortress was built in the 13th century by Sultan Aladdin Keykubid on even more ancient ruins of Roman military fortifications. The structure is very extensive and includes about a hundred towers and almost one hundred and fifty bastions, and in the courtyard you can see such famous (unfortunately, only in rather narrow circles of specialists) monuments as the tomb of Akshabe Sultun, the mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent, the palace of the founding Sultan fortress, named after him, and many other absolutely wonderful buildings from both an archaeological and tourist point of view.

The structure is truly majestic and delights not only with its impressive size (the fortress was built over 12 years!), but also rich history, which hides many mysteries and secrets. As an illustration of the entire life of the fortress, there is a museum nearby with treasures of Turkish art and various archaeological finds of this area.

Dim Cave

The cave was discovered in 1986. For many years, speleologists and archaeologists worked there. It became available to tourists 12 years later.

So, the cave itself is located vertically at a depth of 350 meters. Its length is more than 400 meters. The cave consists of four galleries, each of which is good and interesting in its own way. All year round, the temperature in the cave is just under 20 degrees with a humidity of 90%.

The first gallery is strewn with ceramic shards. Hall vault extraordinary beauty. The second hall is rich a huge amount stalagmites and stalactites. They are everywhere - on the walls, floors and even hanging from the ceiling in the form of icicles. The third gallery is connected to the second by a small narrow passage. But electricity has long been installed here for tourists, so getting into the cave deeper will not be so scary. There are even more stalactites, which are mixed together with calcareous tuff. In the fourth grotto, human remains are revealed to the curious. Due to the salt and high humidity, they are well preserved, despite the fact that they are several centuries old.

Sealanya Dolphinarium

The Sealanya Dolphinarium is really worth it, if you don’t go to Turkey just for it, then at least look there while traveling along the Turkish coast. This will be quite convenient, because the dolphinarium is located very close to the city of Alanya - just 20 minutes away, and the pleasure is worth it.

Several times a day, shows are held here with the participation of dolphin artists, fur seals and lions, bottlenose dolphins - the delight from communicating with these wonderful animals will be limitless! Moreover, during the breaks between shows you can communicate with the same dolphins more closely - they willingly swim and play with anyone.
