What are luxury seats on an airplane? Comfort class at Aeroflot: improved economy or worse business? How to fix the situation

So what are the best seats on the plane? This question worries mainly beginners. If a person goes on an air trip for the first time, he wants to get only positive emotions from this event. Very often, the unfortunate location of the chosen seat leaves an unpleasant impression of the entire trip and a reluctance to use the airline’s services again.

Those who have to fly very often know better than others how important comfort is during long flight. Therefore, “old-timers” tend to book their seats on the plane in advance by choosing good places at your own discretion.

The choice of the most comfortable place depends on a number of factors, the main one of which is its cost. The aircraft cabin is divided into three classes - first, business class and economy.

First class is not available on all planes. This is the most comfortable class for long-distance flights, where there are even lie-flat seats, but it is also the most expensive. Business class is a little cheaper: it is equipped with comfortable seats with a large distance between them, which makes it possible to take a comfortable position during the flight. Business class passengers have the opportunity to use built-in sockets to recharge their gadgets.

Regular tourists prefer to fly economy class, which resembles a lounge intercity bus with rows of seats close together and little legroom between them. This causes a number of inconveniences for those with long legs, passengers with children or people with special needs.

However, a number of amenities are guaranteed for economy class passengers:

  • free lunch;
  • baby food, which should be ordered a day or two before the flight;
  • hanging cradle for infants;
  • Depending on the carrier, economy class seats are equipped with televisions.

It is very important that a person feels comfortable during the flight, and that the trip leaves only pleasant impressions. Therefore, even when purchasing economy class tickets, you need to foresee in advance which seats are best to choose.

In this matter, everyone is guided by their personal preferences, physiological characteristics and safety considerations.

Window seats

If you want to look out the window while traveling and admire the beauty of the sky, clouds, and landscapes passing under the wing, then you will probably prefer to sit near it. In addition, it is more convenient to sleep or read here. Advantages of a window seat:

  • the opportunity to observe a wonderful view overboard the ship during daylight hours;
  • no one will disturb you during the flight;
  • good lighting for reading.

Important: despite the undoubted advantages, porthole seats have their disadvantages, the main one of which is the need to disturb neighbors in order to go to the toilet.

Aisle seats

For long-legged people flying economy class, it is better to choose an aisle seat - this will give you the opportunity to relax by stretching your legs in the space between the rows. In addition, there are other advantages of sitting near the aisle on an airplane:

  • the ability to stand up without disturbing your neighbors;
  • unhindered access to the toilet at any time, which is very important for people with special needs;
  • a chance to get to the boarding gate before others.

Despite the ease of movement, the places at the extreme ends of the aisle also have their disadvantages:

  • Passengers and flight attendants going to the toilet, serving food or drinks, will constantly scurry past you, and sometimes even touch you while moving;
  • You will have to get up every time to let your neighbor out or let him into his place.

Of course, you have to choose between two evils - and if sitting in the middle of a row or by the window is uncomfortable for you because the distance between the rows of seats is too small, then it is still preferable to choose a seat by the aisle.

Airplane seats above the wing

As for the seats on the plane above the wing, take them better for people with a weak vestibular apparatus - in the area of the wing the “bumpiness” is practically not felt; this is the most stable place on board. At the same time, there may be no porthole, which is not suitable for lovers of contemplation of heavenly beauties. Also, according to statistics, the wing area is the most dangerous place for passengers in case of an emergency, since the fuel tanks are located in the wings of the aircraft.

Seats near emergency exits

Each aircraft has emergency exits, which are located in the middle part of the aircraft on both sides of the cabin. Many experienced air travelers prefer to choose seats that are located after emergency exits. The advantages of this choice:

  • the distance at the emergency exit to the front row has been increased;
  • in some models of passenger airliners, there is no row of seats in front of these seats;
  • There are no constantly lowered backrests of the front seats, which cause a lot of inconvenience during the flight.

This makes it possible to freely get up from the chair without creating inconvenience for your neighbors in the row, and also to sit comfortably in it with your legs stretched out.

A person who loves freedom of movement will like seats near emergency exits/hatches.

The same cannot be said about those who are used to traveling in comfortable chairs. The fact is that in the seats located next to the emergency exit, the backs of the seats are fixed at a slight angle, and it is impossible to change their position. This is due to the need to ensure free access to emergency exits if necessary.

In addition, the emergency exit row has its disadvantages:

  • You cannot carry hand luggage with you - it must be put on the top shelf;
  • These seats do not accommodate passengers with children under 12 years of age, pregnant women, or people with physical problems.

This is interesting! The ban on placing children, pregnant women and disabled people near emergency hatches is explained simply - almost all airlines, with rare exceptions, place physically strong passengers in these seats, who in the event of an emergency could help flight attendants open the emergency exit and organize the evacuation of passengers.

Therefore, if you are a physically strong person, you can safely choose a place near the emergency exit - at least you will be guaranteed freedom of movement.

Places in the tail

The tail of an airplane is not the best for those who like long trips. The main advantage, which only a few pay attention to, is the comparative safety for those sitting in the rear section in the event of an aircraft accident. As American statistics show, 67% of survivors of plane crashes are passengers sitting in the back of the plane. True, there are still small advantages:

  • if the airport is not equipped with telescopic bridges and passengers are released through the nose and tail of the plane, you have a chance to be among the first to leave the plane;
  • Seats in the back are not popular, so if the flight is not fully booked, you can sit comfortably in a row of empty seats and sleep during the flight.

Disadvantages of places located in the tail:

  • the backs of the seats in the rear do not recline, so you can’t count on a comfortable flight;
  • the “bumpiness” is felt most strongly in the tail, which causes a lot of trouble for passengers with a weak vestibular system;
  • since there is also a toilet in the rear section, you will constantly be disturbed by passengers passing through it, slamming doors and specific odors.

Therefore, after weighing the pros and cons, most passengers prefer to choose seats away from the rear of the plane.

The best seats on a plane with a child

Passengers traveling with young children try to choose the best seats on the plane to ensure comfort for the child. Taking into account all the pros and cons, the most comfortable places on the plane for children - the front row of seats.

Front row advantages:

  • in front of the seats there is increased space for the child’s free movement and movements;
  • there are mounts for a hanging cradle, which is important for passengers with babies;
  • When the flight attendants start serving lunch, passengers in the front rows get their food first;
  • it is possible to select the appropriate option from the proposed menu;
  • The shaking is not felt as much when the airliner enters a turbulence zone.

Along with the undoubted advantages, seats in the first row of seats are not very comfortable for passengers with small children for several reasons:

  1. There is nowhere to put away a bag with things that are necessary for babies on a flight.
  2. The armrests of the first row seats do not rise, so it is uncomfortable for the baby to sleep in the arms of the parents.
  3. During check-in for a flight, company employees allocate seats for passengers with children in the front rows. If there are several babies nearby, they may interfere with each other.

Therefore, if you do not need a hanging cradle, it is better to choose a place closer to the middle of the cabin. The most advanced passengers choose the first and third seats in a row - there is a high probability that no one will be seated next to you in the middle seat, and then you can, by folding down the armrests, arrange a sofa for your baby to sleep on, or a place to play.

It is better to avoid choosing seats in the rear section if you are flying with a child. However, if the plane is not fully loaded and the last row is completely empty, you can, by coordinating your actions with the flight attendant, occupy it. Then you will get the maximum free space to ensure your child gets a good night's sleep.

Important: you can get the necessary information about the seats in a specific aircraft model, the width of the seats, the distance between them, the location of utility rooms, and windows, using the services of the SeatGuru service. The given interior layout diagrams also show the best locations for this model.

We have covered only the main characteristics of the seats located in various parts of the aircraft. However, each airline, depending on the model of the aircraft it operates, has its own characteristics and preferences when implementing the most comfortable seats. If you don’t want to get into trouble, it’s better to find out in advance which airline and which model of aircraft you will use for the flight, go to the company’s website, select the desired model and in the “ Best places» see the options that suit you. Even if you haven’t found the diagram for the model you need, use our tips - they will help you make the right choice.

For the first time I flew in Aeroflot comfort class. Previously, I tried to fly business class for long distances, but the crisis forced me to tighten my belt. In the case of Shanghai, the math is very simple. An economy class ticket cost 25,000 rubles, a comfort class ticket cost 60,000 rubles, and a business class ticket cost 130,000 rubles. And I still remember the times when for 50,000 you could buy an Aeroflot business class in Tokyo! I will tell the children.

Here we need to make a small insert. My old rich friend Leva from New York flew to China to visit me. The same Leva who works at Google and told you about why he loves America. So, while I was saving, Leva decided to show off and flew to China first class Cathay Pacific. A ticket there, by the way, costs almost 1,300,000 rubles (one million three hundred thousand) ONE END! Yes, and no discounts. This is how ordinary employees of the evil corporation, Google, live. Leva generally loves to boo. For example, in Shanghai he rented a suite at the Park Hyatt, one of the most luxurious hotels in the city. Why in it? Firstly, the Google office is located there, and it will be convenient for Leva to go down to work in slippers after breakfast, and secondly, there are discounts for Google employees there (3%, it seems).

I’ll tell you more about Leva, who is basking in luxury, but for now, read whether it’s worth flying Aeroflot comfort class.

01. So, Aeroflot's new Boeing 777s have a comfort class cabin. It is located between business and economy classes.

Comfort passengers are not entitled to any special privileges before boarding, except perhaps an increased baggage allowance. Check-in is at the economy counters, there is no priority boarding, the business lounge will also be closed to you. So don’t flatter yourself, before the flight you will be like a mere mortal.

02. What's next? Next are the unusual chairs. This is a hard cocoon, that is, the back is fixed. This is a plus, as neighbors in front and behind will not bother you. No one will lean back on you, no one will hit you in the back.

03. There is also an increased distance between the seats, 97 cm. This is approximately the same as in economy at the emergency exit. That is, you can fully extend your legs forward, and your knees will not rest against the front seat.

04. There is a footrest.

05. But you won’t be able to sleep normally. The seat back in the comfort class does not recline. The seat moves forward, and the back simply slides down the cocoon. Look, I completely unfolded one chair, but not the other. There is practically no difference. I would say that it is even more comfortable to sleep in economy. In addition, the armrests also do not rise, so even if you are flying in a half-empty cabin, this will not allow you to grab free seats and sleep.

06. Another plus is a very large table. It's even bigger than business class. The table can easily accommodate two trays or a laptop and a tray of food. You can put papers, a tablet, a laptop on the table and work. This is the main advantage of the comfort class.

07. Working here is a pleasure!

08. Another big plus is that there is a 220V socket and USB.

09. Workplace for 8 o'clock.

10. By the way, the chair is a little wider than in the economy one, 49 centimeters. In addition, there is a wide armrest between the seats, so that both passengers can use it without disturbing each other.

11. Comfort class passengers are given a welcome drink, but only water or juice. In business, champagne is added to them. By the way, on domestic flights Aeroflot began to bottle donkey urine instead of normal champagne. They found the cheapest Russian sparkling wine at 200 rubles per bottle and are trying to treat passengers with it. International ones are better.

12. Comfort class passengers are not entitled to an amenity kit. Instead, they only give you uncomfortable slippers and a blindfold.

13. And here is the most unpleasant thing. Alcohol is not served in comfort class! Some kind of hellish redneck of Aeroflot. That is, they give you a bottle of wine on some flights, but most comfort class flights are alcohol-free! Saved on a bottle of wine. However, you can’t even buy alcohol. I don’t understand Aeroflot’s policy at all. In business class they pour as much as you want, you can eat shit. Let’s say you don’t want to bother with a huge economy, and they don’t pour food there. But why was the comfort class passengers, who paid a lot of money for the ticket, deprived of the joy of libations? European airlines Wine or beer is provided even in economy on short flights. But Aeroflot decided to enforce prohibition. So bring your booze with you;) It’s not for me to teach you. For this, Aeroflot receives a huge minus.

14. Shanghai flight menu

15. Looks delicious.

16. But in reality - nothing special.

17. Food is a mixture of economy and business. Appetizers and dessert are from the economy menu, but the main course is on a glass plate, just like in business class. True, they don’t give you soup) But the cutlery is metal and the napkin is normal.

18. Regular economy snacks.

19. Chicken. Quality is a C grade. In general, it is not clear why Aeroflot positions food as business class; it falls short.

At this moment I can’t help but remember Leva. They served him a jar of black caviar as a snack... It's good to work at Google.
http://levik.com/i/p/2016/cn/ca10.jpg

20. Each chair has a built-in monitor with movies and other entertainment. The films are fresh, so if you forgot to download them to your tablet, you won’t be bored on the road. There is a USB socket.

21. To summarize. In general, the comfort class turned out to be quite good. This is an improved economy. If you have a day flight and want to work normally for 8-10 hours and save money, then I would fly quietly in comfort instead of business. There are conditions for working there (except alcohol). But if the flight is at night and you want to get a good night’s sleep, then there are no alternatives to business class yet. If there is no money for business class, then I would probably take economy, there is a chance to occupy several seats if the flight is not full, and sleep well.

How to choose the most comfortable and safest seats on a plane? What should you pay attention to based on your needs?

Spending several hours in the sky is quite difficult. Therefore, airline passengers try to get comfortable with maximum comfort. The first step is to choose the optimal chair. Of course, you need to arrive at the airport at the start of check-in, and not 30 minutes before departure. Otherwise, you will not get the best, but worst place in the cabin.

Another option: check in for the flight yourself using an online service - there will definitely be a place to show your skills in practice.

How to choose a comfortable and safe place?

There is heated debate about the tail section of the aircraft. Proponents argue that the seats in the rear of the plane are the safest. Air crash statistics confirm this. In addition, most of the rear seats are often left empty, so on a night flight you can always fold out several seats and go to bed in comfort. But many passengers don't like tail section airplane, since the toilets are located there. Therefore, you will constantly have to endure a queue of people in the immediate vicinity of your place. This is not always convenient.

Many passengers choose exclusively a seat near the window. Some people like to look at the sky and earth through the clouds, while others value natural light. And luggage from the upper compartments will never accidentally fall on your head. But if you have to go to the toilet, you will have to disturb two neighbors at once.

Near the passage the places are the most restless. Flight attendants with trolleys and other cabin passengers will constantly walk by. But during quiet hours, you can easily put your feet into the aisle and fly in more comfortable conditions. When leaving the plane, you will not need to wait or disturb anyone. The most uncomfortable chairs are those located in the middle of two neighbors.

If you come across a 3-lane salon, then it is especially important to choose comfortable seats.

At the front of the aircraft, mounts for cradles are often installed. Therefore, passengers with babies are most often seated there. And it doesn't come close worthwhile places comfortable for other passengers.

Onboard service most often begins from the bow, less often from the tail. Therefore, passengers occupying the front seats experience more possibilities for a selection of dishes and soft drinks. The gangway is also located closer to the front of the aircraft. When disembarking from the plane, passengers sitting in the front section have a slight advantage over other people.

Are the emergency exit seats comfortable?

There is another type unusual places, which can also be intentionally selected on an airplane, are the emergency exit seats. For example, in airbus 320/321 they are located in the area of row 10. Many travelers consider them to be the most advantageous in the entire cabin - the distance between the seats is wider, and therefore it is possible to stretch out your legs comfortably. True, there are three nuances that may warn you against flying on these specific rows:

  • The distance to the seats in front, although impressive, is the backrests do not recline . Be prepared to spend the entire flight sitting at an angle of almost 90 degrees. There's no time for stretched legs here!
  • Passengers who unexpectedly received tickets for “emergency” seats, on foreign flights knowledge will be required in English . The flight attendant will certainly ask you how “do you speak English”? And if you don’t immediately understand what this pretty girl wants from you, she will strongly suggest that you change the comfortable and certainly the safest seat on the plane to the one that comes to her hand first.
  • In the rows of seats near the emergency exits you will be asked to send all your hand luggage upstairs prepared for flight. This applies to absolutely everything - even women's handbags. Getting anything - water, pillows, books, tablets, napkins, warm clothes, comfortable shoes, etc. - will have to happen during the process. And the flight attendants will not be happy about it. This is because the passages in these rows should be as free as possible and ready to provide access to emergency hatches at any time.

The most comfortable seats on the plane

The right seat on the plane means both comfort and safety!

Now let's summarize. What seats to choose on the plane to make the trip comfortable, and at the same time protect yourself and your loved ones?

  • Seat by the porthole . The advantage is daylight. In addition, passengers enjoy the most breathtaking views. The disadvantage is the neighbors who will have to be disturbed every time they leave the chair. But in the end, these are not your problems 😉
  • Seats in the rear section at a relative distance from the toilets . The advantage is that they often remain free, and therefore give the opportunity to get comfortable! Again, getting to the toilet is not difficult 😉
  • Seats near the aisles towards the front . These are the most comfortable seats on the plane for short flights. If you don’t want to waste extra time when going out, choose them!

The most uncomfortable seats on a plane

As a result of the article, it turned out that there are seats on planes that you shouldn’t rush to occupy:

  • Seats in the middle of the row . There may be 1 or 2 of them (if it is large airliner, like Boeing 777). No particular advantages were found. There is only one drawback, but a significant one - neighbors, neighbors and again neighbors.
  • In the popular airbus 320 and 321 airliners catastrophically uncomfortable 8th and 9th rows , where not only the distance between the seats is narrowed, but also the trajectory of the reclining backrest is limited. All thanks to the 10th row, where the emergency exit is located (see plan below).
  • Seats in the front with provisions for carrycots . The advantage is comfortable seats if there are no children under 1-1.5 years old on board. If they are present, then the advantages turn into one continuous disadvantage.

The most controversial places on board

These, of course, are the rows of seats at the emergency exits - the same 10th row. We found a lot of disadvantages in such accommodation, but passengers continue to snap up these seats like hot cakes. This is partly explained by the layout of the classic airbus 320, where the seats near the emergency exits are called “increased comfort seats” (see plan).

Some 150 years ago, people covered a distance of 200 km in 2 days. Who among them could imagine that at the beginning of the 21st century, after spending just a few hours, you could find yourself on another continent. An airplane is one of the best gifts that humanity has given itself. Learning to understand the intricacies of choosing a class of service on board and booking an air ticket will not hurt either those who fly rarely or regulars of airships.

Classes of service in passenger air transportation

The aircraft service level classification includes three main classes:

  1. Economy class;
  2. Business Class;
  3. First grade.

Note! For air carriers, this gradation is not mandatory. Some airlines introduce their own scale or add new positions between the well-known ones: business premium between first and business class on an airplane, economy comfort between economy and business, etc. This practice is rare, because for the convenience of both passengers and the carriers themselves it is easier to use a single system.

Standard level of service

Economy class is the most popular among airline passengers. Most of all seats on a ship falls into this category. On the ticket, class membership is indicated by a special letter in the “CL” column. Depending on the airline and the chosen fare, this can be any letter of the Latin alphabet. For different carriers, the same letter may indicate different tariffs.

Disadvantages of air travel in economy class on an airplane:

  • Economy class air travelers have to spend more time on board upon arrival. The seats here are located at the rear of the aircraft or in the center, so passengers with increased comfort seats are the first to leave the plane;
  • The width of the seats and the distances between the rows are minimal. It will be difficult for a large person to fit on board an Aeroflot flight, on seats up to 46 cm wide. Standard aisles between rows from 75 to 90 cm also reduce the comfort of such a trip;
  • Not all seats in the standard cabin recline. The places at the emergency exits, in front of the sanitary block and the food compartment are equipped with seats, the backs of which can only be in a vertical position;
  • Economy meals may vary between carriers. The diet and assortment in this class are much simpler than in the business class cabin;
  • Check-in for a flight for passengers from this category does not provide any benefits and takes place at a standard counter at the airport. A special bus delivers travelers to their planes. IN major airports There are telescopic bridges to which the aircraft is moored. In this case, passengers themselves board as soon as boarding is announced;
  • Weight Limit hand luggage Aeroflot should not exceed 10 kg. The luggage compartment will carry a suitcase no heavier than 23 kg free of charge. Sometimes free baggage allowance is not allowed, it depends on the conditions of the air carrier.

Pros of traveling in a regular cabin:

  • Prices for tickets in economy class when traveling on the same plane are very different from first and business;
  • According to research, the tail of an aircraft is the safest place during flight;
  • Service in the cabins of some airlines includes the provision of a blanket, pillow, headphones, folding table, and a pocket with standard literature. The list differs for each air carrier. Depending on the company's rules and conditions, other accessories may be added to this list or vice versa.

Superior class

The intermediate type of service was first launched by KLM in 1976. Business class is between the highest and lowest level service. The differences from Aeroflot's economy are in the food and attention paid to passengers.

Advantages and disadvantages of traveling in a cabin with increased level service:

  • The ticket price assumes compliance with the definition of “price-quality”. A ticket to such a cabin on the same plane will always be more expensive than in economy and cheaper than in first class;
  • The seats are usually wider than standard, the intervals between the rows are more spacious, and the aisles in the cabin are wide. Depending on the airliner, the business class cabin may vary. Types of seats can be fully reclining and with an angle of 160 degrees;
  • Business passengers have unlimited access to food and drinks throughout their flight. The menu offers a wide range of dishes;
  • The weight of hand luggage and main luggage, which can be carried free of charge, is 2 times greater than that of economy. These conditions are provided by Aeroflot;
  • Business class passengers check in for the flight out of line, at a separate counter. Upon completion of registration, travelers are offered a free area with food, drinks, and the Internet. Here you can comfortably wait for boarding to begin;
  • Many airlines offer transfers to the airport, as well as delivery to your destination upon arrival. The cost of the service is included in the price of the air ticket.

It is worth noting that the stated level of service does not always correspond to reality. A situation is possible when a plane arrives for landing, which only has economy class seats. In this case, even having a ticket to a zone with increased comfort in hand, the passenger is forced to fly general conditions, without ever knowing the difference between business class and economy class.

In favor of these travelers is their right to free cancellation of the ticket, with a refund of the full cost without fees. He can also reschedule the flight to another day.

Flight with royal treatment

First class passengers enjoy many privileges. Free delivery to the airport and taxi to the hotel at the end of the trip. The lucky person will wait to board in the best airport lounge. In large air harbors it happens that the increased comfort zone is equipped with sleeping places and showers. Fine snacks and drinks are served here. Most often, these passengers do not go to the check-in counter at all - they are met by a specially designated airport employee (from a separate entrance), escorted to the VIP lounge and themselves carry out the check-in procedure.

Each passenger in this class has a large individual space on the plane. This is a whole room with a bed, a business area with a table and chair, and other attributes. The chairs fold out completely and turn into a full bed. The interior varies by carrier. Elite menu, expensive drinks are provided in unlimited quantities. The quality of interior materials, tableware, and accessories are all at the highest level. 1st class passengers board first, using special transport. Carriage of baggage over 45 kg and unlimited hand luggage is free of charge.

The disadvantage is high price, which not everyone can afford. Also, not all flights provide this type of service - such a cabin is more common on transatlantic flights.

Booking classes

Each airline develops its own tariffs and the conditions they offer. The conditions include the comfort of the seat, rules in case of exchange or return of a ticket, and others. The list of conditions that accompany the selected fare will be more profitable for the passenger, the higher the type of booking.

When booking, each fare is indicated on the ticket by a letter of the Latin alphabet. Two tickets purchased for the same class may differ in price if they have different types reservations.

Note! The lower the price, the more restrictions the ticket will have for all classes of service. But the service always corresponds to the selected class.

T class booking in the economy cabin from Aeroflot is popular. The tariff has its limitations - the date of the return flight is strictly fixed, the ticket is redeemed within 24 hours from the moment it is issued, you cannot select a seat in advance, unfavorable conditions in case of cancellation of the reservation. The inconveniences are compensated by the favorable price, for which the tariff is popular.

For comparison, class Y from the same carrier involves flying in economy, with an open date for the return trip, without restrictions on paying for such a ticket, with the opportunity to get a seat in business class (there are rules specified in the fare description) and many other permitted benefits. A ticket with reserve type Y will cost much more than class T.

Some airlines have strict cabin seating policies, depending on the type of booking. In the recent past, Kuban Airlines had a “Flight strictly in row 20” tariff. Two people in business class may have different menu options, while in first class someone will be able to hear their neighbors more.

Important! The lower the class of the booking, the fewer tickets are available for sale at this rate.

Video

Airplane seat classes are a way for people to choose the best conditions for their air travel. Passengers with different needs and wallet thickness fly in full accordance with their capabilities.

Many passengers want to choose a seat on the plane, and it is very desirable that this seat be by the window, because you really want to look at the clouds, seas and cities passing below... But when choosing seats, there are other interesting and important points that need to be taken into account:

  • There are airlines that offer to choose a seat during online check-in (for example, UIA, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa). This is especially convenient for those who fly in large groups: it is difficult to expect that everyone will be seated next to you;
  • You can always choose your seat when checking in at the airport. Therefore, you should not neglect the simplest and most proven way to get the desired seat in the cabin: do not be lazy and arrive at the beginning of registration;
  • If you fly with low-cost airlines, you will most likely have to pay extra for choosing a seat (about $10-15);
  • If you often fly with one airline, then get a “Loyal Customer Card”. Show it at the counter, and getting a seat with a more comfortable location will be very likely;
  • Often planes are not 100% full. After boarding, you can take any free seat;
  • For those traveling alone, the following option is possible - arrive at the very end of registration. If you are lucky, you may be given a seat in business class, and if you are unlucky, you will get a seat that all other passengers have already refused;
  • By choosing a seat by the window, at the back of the plane, there is a chance that the flight will take place without neighbors nearby;
  • It is more comfortable to sit on two, three or four seats than on one =), so, if possible, plan your flights on days and times when airports are least busy - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. The busiest days are Friday and Sunday. The busiest flights are morning and evening. In the half-empty cabins of “weekday” flights, the flight attendants themselves will offer you to change seats to unoccupied rows - it’s quite possible to sleep on three seats;
  • Most passengers like to sit by the window, some in the aisle, no one in the middle;
  • Passengers prefer to sit closer to the front of the plane. Every day, hundreds of laptops break because the passenger sitting in front suddenly reclines the seat, which breaks the computer on the lap of the person sitting behind. The chances that it will be broken by the person sitting in front are reduced if you choose a seat at the front of the cabin, or behind the passenger who sits in front of the emergency exit (the seat backs do not recline);
  • Sitting near the emergency exit will give you more legroom;
  • If you are flying with animals, it is also more convenient to sit near the emergency exit;
  • It is better for those who get motion sick to sit near the wings, since there is less “chattering” in this area;
  • In a 2-4-2 layout, if the fours are completely free, then sit in the middle seat in the middle row. Due to the dislike of the middle row, you have a greater chance of sitting comfortably in two chairs with the armrests raised;
  • When traveling as a couple and with a 3-2-3 layout, you can book one seat by the window and the second by the aisle. Most often there are no people willing to take the middle place;
  • There is no most safe places for an airplane seat. All seats are at the same risk;
  • The first row behind business class is considered the most comfortable. Here more space for your feet, no one sits in front of you - which means no one reclines the back of their chair on you, you will be the first to receive food, drinks, newspapers, you will get blankets and pillows. For those traveling with small children, it is possible to attach a cradle for babies to the wall and install a child seat. But this also has its drawbacks: due to the tables hidden in the armrests, it is impossible to lift these armrests and turn the chair into a sofa or place a sleeping child on your lap. And if, for example, you are going to work on the road or prepare for a business meeting, you should hardly strive to sit in the front rows: being close to children (and there are usually more of them here) is unlikely to contribute to concentration;
  • Seats near emergency exits are also held in high esteem experienced travelers: the spacing between the rows here is 15 cm greater than in the rest of the cabin, but depending on the layout of the cabin, the seat backs often do not lower (on long flights you will regret this), and you cannot keep hand luggage on the floor;
  • Typically, rows 8 to 20 are the noisiest area on the plane; all the noise from engines and turbines is concentrated here;
  • In the back of the plane, the seats are a little narrower, it’s more cramped to sit there, the shaking is stronger, there’s a small selection of food, newspapers and magazines (based on the principle of “what’s left”), there’s a toilet nearby, which most often has a queue.
