Our journey continues and now we are going to one of the most beautiful and protected areas of Buryatia - Arshan resort village, located in Tunkinskaya Valley. Foothills Eastern Sayan, where the border of Russia and Mongolia is located, has long been called Siberian Switzerland - the nature of these places is so infinitely beautiful and majestic. As for the local air, according to one traveler who has been here, you want to pack it in some container and take it with you so that from time to time you can inhale these unique aromas. The toponymy of these places is permeated with Buryat and Mongolian motifs. So Arshan, translated from Mongolian, means “spring”, “healing spring”, which is not surprising: here there is a unique bouquet of different mineral springs, rich in microelements and in physical and chemical properties are analogous to Kislovodsk Narzan, but superior to it in the degree of mineralization.
The waters of Arshan have long been used for medicinal purposes for drinking, bathing and showering. Of undoubted interest is the one operating on the territory of the resort: Buddhist temple– datsan. In general, Buddhism, one of the most widespread world religions today, is widely represented both in Buryatia as a whole and in Tunka Valley in particular. The spread of Buddhism was facilitated by Tibetan monks who came to these parts back in the 18th century. So, in Arshan there is datsan "Bodhidharma".
