Where is koa lac in pattaya? Open left menu kao-lak. Areas and beaches of Khao Lak

Khao Lak National Park National Park) - the highlight of Thailand, primarily attracting attention with its chic virgin nature, harmoniously combining rainforests, steep cliffs, waterfalls, lakes and rivers.

Located national park on mainland Thailand, near the coast Andaman Sea in Phang Nga province. Khao Lak Park is huge, its area is more than 150 square meters and it consists of two parks. In addition to the beautiful pristine nature, the park also offers tourism and entertainment activities. Here you can simply relax, walk along the paths in the jungle, go rafting or bamboo rafting down the rivers, try out a jeep or elephant safari, or feel like Tarzan and fly through the jungle on roller mechanisms on cables stretched between the trees.

You can visit Khao Lak National Park either independently or with a guided tour. We visited this beautiful reserve with a Khao Lak Safari excursion while staying on the island of Phuket.

The excursion lasts the whole day. One day, naturally, is not enough for such a park, for such a short time You won’t be able to see even parts of all the embellishments, but it’s enough to get acquainted. In addition, this excursion is very eventful, partly educational, partly entertaining, and partly even relaxing. In one day you will see a lot of interesting things: mountains, jungles, turtles, the Temple-Cave of the Reclining Buddha, meet funny monkeys who eat straight from your hands, learn how pineapples grow, ride on bamboo rafts along mountain river and try out such a popular entertainment in Thailand - elephant riding. We can fully recommend this excursion to the park to everyone, young and old. Believe me, it will be interesting!

Excursion to Khao Lak Safari includes:

Meeting (picked up from the hotel and brought to the hotel) on a comfortable minibus;

Visit to a turtle farm;

River rafting on bamboo rafts;

Lunch at a local cafe;

Stop at a pineapple plantation;

Elephant rides and baby elephant shows. Upon request and for an additional fee - swimming with a baby elephant;

Visit to the temple-cave of the reclining Buddha (Wat Suwan Kuha) and the mountain of monkeys;

Visiting the waterfall, swimming in the waterfall if desired. During the dry season, the waterfall dries up, and we visited the excursion in March, so we didn’t get to the waterfall.

The price of the excursion also includes: insurance, drinking water, Russian-speaking guide.

Since this excursion is visited daily by a large number of tourists, the excursion route may change to disperse the flow. Some people visit the turtle farm first, and then ride the elephants and go to the temple, while others first visit the temple, and then go to the rafting and turtle farm. But this does not change the essence of the excursion.

We recommend taking with you: sunscreen and hats; telephone, camera; money for additional expenses. Wear swimwear and comfortable shoes. Optional: sunglasses, towel, change of shorts and T-shirt.

Cost of excursion from Phuket

The brochures contain an excursion to the national Khao Park Lac costs: 2,800 baht - adult ticket, 1,800 baht - children's ticket. In reality, the excursion is cheaper, they willingly lower the price. We purchased a tour for 1,000 baht per person.

Excursion - Safari in Khao Lak National Park (Khao Lak Safari)

At 07:30 am we were picked up from our hotel and we drove from Phuket to mainland Thailand. The journey, including the collection of all excursion participants, took approximately an hour and a half.

First stop was a visit turtle farms

The turtle farm is a mini-zoo where, in addition to turtles, you can see crocodiles and fish, as well as take a walk through the picturesque area.

The conditions in which the animals are kept leave much to be desired, the small concrete pens in which these cute creatures lie. According to the guide, turtles are raised here until a certain age, and then released into the wild, this is done by decree former King Thailand, to preserve the endangered population.

On the way out we bought coconut ice cream. This is the most delicious ice cream we tried in Thailand. We found him on this moment, in only two places: at the merchant near this farm and at.

Our second stop was river rafting on bamboo rafts

It was this part of the excursion that we remembered most. This is not rafting, there is no extreme sports here, the Kaolak River was very calm and quiet. Our group, two people each, sat on rafts and Thai boys, deftly handling the raft, floated you down the river. All river walk takes 30-40 minutes.

At first we were even a little upset because of the slow rafting, but after a few minutes such calm and serenity appeared in our souls. We completely abandoned reality, sailed, enjoying the views of the jungle and the silence, broken only by the sound of the water and the occasional cries of birds. It was truly wonderful and comfortable, in a sense we even managed to catch nirvana.

During the rafting, from the shore, we were photographed, after which we were offered to buy a photograph in an ecological frame made from elephant poop)). Interesting photo, we bought this for ourselves. Cost 200 baht per photo.

At the end of the rafting we were met in a small truck

and we went to lunch in a cafe. For lunch we had soup, vegetables, fish, rice, meat and potatoes, French fries, Thai rolls, fruit and drinks with cookies. Pretty good and quite tasty, especially after a busy first half of the day spent outdoors.

Next stop was at pineapple plantations. Here the guide showed us and told us how pineapples grow and are harvested. It turns out that harvesting pineapples is very dangerous work. The bushes themselves are sharp and easy to injure, in addition, there are snakes in the fields, including poisonous ones. Snakes often bite harvesters, which can result in death.

Fifth stop - elephant safari

First of all, a 15-minute show with a baby elephant unfolded in front of us. The little elephant twirled a hoop, played the harmonica, while briskly waving his leg, and then did several tricks. The spectators, especially children, were delighted, and the baby elephant walked between people, holding a hat in his trunk, where everyone threw money.

After the show, we were offered a swim with a baby elephant. Cost 300 baht per person. We didn’t go swimming with the baby elephant, we just looked and took a few photos, for history and for you, of course.

Swimming with a baby elephant consisted of the following: a small pond, natural, in the river, where the baby elephant was taken, then everyone who paid 300 baht was invited to join him. The participants in this action poured water on the baby elephant, rubbed his back, and finally took pictures with him. The whole process took 10-15 minutes. It didn’t look very good, to put it mildly, but the children were delighted.

Little elephants take part in the show and swimming; until a certain age, they are not allowed to ride with tourists. Because of their small sizes and little training. During the first few years of training, a baby elephant must get used to its driver, his voice and gestures, so they are trained in shows and bathing, and after they have matured, their bones have become stronger, and they have gained experience, they are sent out to give rides to tourists.

After swimming, we all went to the most awaited part of the excursion - elephant rides.

Two people rode elephants. Boarding the elephants took place in a special house, from where it was convenient to climb into the basket on the animal’s back. If you are wearing flip-flops, then you will have to leave your shoes here, but if your shoes fit tightly on your feet, then you can go in your shoes.

The ride itself lasted about 40 minutes. We were looking forward to it, we had heard and read a lot about such a memorable and amazing “attraction”. But, personally, riding elephants did not make any impression on us, and on the contrary, we did not like it. We won’t go again, we feel sorry for the animal and we didn’t feel any emotional courage.

The skiing route went through the jungle, up and down the hills, and also partially across the river, so in addition to the skiing itself, there was an opportunity to enjoy beautiful views Thai jungle.

When you sit on the back of an elephant, the ground is quite far away, and the basket also sways; if the animal rises or descends from the hills, you shake and chatter from side to side. It's not scary, it hurts your back a little, but it's fun for some.

During the ride, the mahouts offered, for a small fee of 100 baht, to take a few photographs of us riding an elephant, while the elephants poured water on everyone, putting it in their trunks, and gave them, so to speak, a refreshing shower.

At the farm you could feed the elephants bananas and take some memorable, colorful photographs. It is better to bring bananas with you for feeding, the price tag here is decent, several bananas - from 100 baht.

Next stop Cave Temple reclining Buddha (Wat Suwan Kuha) and monkey cave (Monkey Cave)

On the territory of the Wat SuwanKuha Temple complex there are: a working monastery, a cave with a reclining Buddha who entered nirvana and is located between heaven and earth, as well as a cave-mountain of monkeys.

Entrance to the cave temple is paid. Cost 20 baht per person.

Once inside, you find yourself in the first hall, here we see the legendary reclining Buddha and other attributes of Buddhism.

This hall once served as the main temple. Currently, the temple has been moved to buildings near the cave, and the cave itself has become a place for tourists to visit.

Having walked further and climbed the steps, you find yourself in a completely different world, twilight and mystery reign here. This is the cave of the holy monkeys. The monkeys here are very cute and friendly, surrounding tourists and snatching treats right out of their hands. But still, it’s better not to take risks and not try to grab the monkeys or get into their faces, they might bite, then you won’t have any trouble, there’s no need for unnecessary injections and expenses. You can bring your own treats or buy bananas from local vendors for 50 baht for several pieces.

Near the cave there is a toilet and a small market.

For some reason, Russian tour operators bypass Khao Lak resort side. Our compatriots get there mostly on their own. In contrast to the Scandinavians, who took a fancy to it and, apparently, determined the general atmosphere there with their restrained Nordic nature. The most interesting thing is that getting to Khao Lak is not much more difficult than getting to the trampled by tourists.

For those looking for peace

Tours to Khao Lak- this is a real find for those who want to relax, and not “have a blast” full program" A small number of tourists, among whom Scandinavians who are reserved in their emotions predominate, secluded beaches, and a not particularly developed entertainment infrastructure. Most of all, this town is similar to the beginning of the tourism boom that began 25 years ago.

Main Khao Lak attractions- this is many kilometers beach coast and the dense tropical forests surrounding it. No one will stop you from meeting the dawn in romantic silence and spending the evening going beyond the horizon Indian Ocean, Sun. You don’t have to worry about getting in line at the nearest restaurant or cafe in advance. It's always free there, and Thai cuisine is the most authentic.

Beaches

Khao Lak is a resort area stretching from the town that gave it its name, a full thirty kilometers north along the Phet Kassem Road. The first place on the way from Phuket will be Ban Khao Lak village and Khao Lak beach. Further to the north there are: the village of Ban La On and Nang Thong Beach, the villages of Bang Niang and Khuk Khak, each of which has its own beach of the same name.

Nang Thong Beach and Bang Niang Beach

If you find it too boring, only serene beach holiday As such, it is worth stopping at Nang Thong Beach and Bang Niang Beach. At the latter, tourists are even offered. In general, everything is familiar tourism infrastructure– bars, restaurants, salons, and bicycles – are present there. It is believed that best beaches Khao Laka are located right there. Of course, compared to Patong, it is extremely quiet there, and it is impossible to get lost on the same Bang Niang street with a dozen drinking establishments. Priestesses of the most ancient profession work there, so the “” point in the recreation program can be left.

Nang Thong Beach

Bang Niang Beach

Khuk Khak Beach

Khuk Khak Beach, in our opinion, is one of the most beautiful in Khao Lak. At the same time, it is the most deserted (people can only be found near hotels) and remote from those described above. For this reason, Khuk Khak is perfect for lovers of secluded relaxation. Also located here is one of the best hotels in this resort - The Heaven Khao Lak.

Pakarang Beach

Pakarang Beach is mainly popular among professionals because it offers ideal conditions for this sport. Otherwise the beach is quite large and sparsely populated. Not far from the surf spot there is a fairly comfortable hotel Palm Galleria Resort.

Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is the most southern part after Khao Lak beach and is located right under the hill, near which, in turn, there are several hotels with magnificent views of the bay. For couples in love, we recommend booking a cozy hotel Sensimar Khaolak Beachfront Resort, located right on the beach.

Pak Weeb Beach

Pak Weeb Beach, which is a continuation of Pakarang Beach, is very popular among tourists, but there is no clear boundary between them. It is distinguished by the presence of vegetation right next to the sea, calmer waves, and sparsely populated areas. Thanks to its snow-white sand, it has a second name - White Sand Beach.

Bang Sak Beach

Bang Sak Beach is located almost in the very north of Khao Lak, near the town of Takua Pa. The place is quite contrasting in terms of population - there are as many desert places, and quite lived-in. There are also many in the surrounding area comfortable hotels and small restaurants offering savory dishes. We highly recommend visiting the Haadson Resort.

On the other five beaches, the atmosphere is peaceful and patriarchal. The forest or clean beach sand begins right outside the hotel's doorstep. But if this is not enough for you, then go to Koh Island Kho Khao. It is located five minutes by sea from Bang Sak Beach. The length of its beach line is almost fifteen kilometers, and there are no more than a dozen hotels. There you can quite feel like Robinson and yearn for Friday.

Cultural program

Attractions. All of them are natural and natural in nature. Khao Lak National Park, waterfalls, clean beaches. Only the monument dedicated to the victims is man-made. This is a police boat left on the shore. It is a natural disaster that explains the fact that most man-made objects in Khao Lak are no more than ten years old. Excursions to Khao Lak are offered by local travel agencies, but you can also go around them yourself.

Khao Sok National Park

Shops and shopping. This type of entertainment is only possible in Bang Niang or Nang Thong, but it will not bring much joy to shopaholic fans. There are few large chain stores in the villages, even 7-Eleven, which is widespread throughout Thailand, is a problem. The markets in Khao Lak offer the usual range of traditional Thai souvenirs, local “delicacies” at reasonable prices. If you can’t live without shopping, then go and visit shopping mall Central Festival.

Local market

Entertainment. The most significant places for a “full break” on Khao Lak there are Moo Moo Cabaret – a transvestite show, and Zantika Pub – night club. They are located on the main street of Bang Niang. The beaches offer jet ski rentals and other beach activities. There are massage parlors, you can go to a bar or restaurant. If you have absolutely nothing else to do, then at night you can launch Chinese lanterns into the sky.

Weather

The best weather in Khao Lak observed during our Russian winter. From November to mid-March it is not particularly hot, just above thirty. Sometimes there are refreshing rains. The heat and great dryness begin in April and continue until June. If you want to spend summer holidays in the bathhouse, then come from May to October. The temperature is above thirty, it rains almost every day (usually at night). Exotics are added by strong winds that disperse high waves. The water temperature in any season is above 27 degrees.

Hotels

Holidays in Khao Lak Can't be called budget. Accommodation and hotels, which can be considered quite comfortable, are somewhat more expensive than, for example, in, although cheaper than in. Top hotels Khao Laka is located in Bang Niang and Nan Tong. There are no rooms cheaper than a thousand baht. There are offers for three thousand. The farther from the water, the cheaper. Along the shore there are, for the most part, hotels that look like bungalows. They are the most expensive. A five-minute walk from them there are three- and five-story guesthouses, which offer rooms for 400-500 baht. You can view hotel options on the widget below or search for others on the websites and. The secrets of finding cheap and comfortable hotels are described

Every year the popularity of Thailand among the Russian population increases several times. Paradise islands, most picturesque nature, snow-white beaches with the turquoise sea turn the country into a resort of world importance. In addition to crowded places, there are still quiet and secluded resorts in Thailand. And one of these places can be called Khao Lak, which is located in the southern part of the Kingdom.

Khao Lak is one of the few Thai resorts that impresses with its tranquility and comfort. Even at the height of the season there are few people here. Maybe it is precisely because of this that the beaches and the sea itself are distinguished by their cleanliness. Initially, Khao Lak was the name given to a small settlement on the coast of the Andaman Sea. But the rapid development of the tourism sector has united several settlements under this name. If you look at the map now, you can see that geographically it covers the area from the sea itself to the mountain strip. Khao Lak is surrounded by three national parks, where even today you can find unique vegetation and rare fauna.

Very close to Khao Lak is the island of Phuket. The distance between the resort and Phuket Town is about 100 kilometers. Unlike the noisy island, peace and quiet reign on Khao Lak. This is a great place for family vacation, especially with small children. There are numerous health centers, spas, and yoga clubs here. A visit to Khao Lak can combine unforgettable vacation together with medical procedures.

If you look at the pricing policy, it is slightly higher here than at other popular resorts. This feature can be explained by the remoteness of Khao Lak, the low flow of people, as well as the numerous upscale hotels.

When is the best time to go?

Like most resorts in Thailand, Khao Lak has a clear distinction between seasons based on weather conditions. Best time for a holiday on Khao Lak from late November to April. From approximately May to November, the resort area is subject to the western monsoon, which brings rainy weather. But even so, the air temperature practically never drops below 22 degrees. Most of the heavy rains occur at night, and in the morning the sun appears again. Trouble can be caused by strong winds that raise waves, and swimming in the sea has to be postponed. In addition, excursions to the world famous ones are closed.

If you still decide to visit Khao Lak in summer time, then it is better to choose a hotel with good developed infrastructure. Such hotels have excellent swimming pools, which can be visited on stormy days.

Infrastructure

Despite the fact that Khao Lak is not particularly popular resort Among vacationers, infrastructure development here has high rates. Of course, there are no huge shopping and entertainment centers within the city, but everything you need can be purchased in one of the many shops in Khao Lak. The most popular supermarket among the local population and holidaymakers is Nang Thong. You can buy everything you need here, from personal hygiene products to all kinds of food and alcoholic beverages.

If you need something non-essential, you can visit the 7/11 stores, which are located throughout the resort. They sell food, basic household items, as well as hot lunches that will be heated for you right at the checkout.

Along the main street and in the beach area there are many shops where you can find inexpensive clothes and shoes.

In order to purchase any souvenirs, it is worth visiting one of the local markets. In the city of Baan La One, there is a market every day, in the area of the central square. In addition to souvenirs, you can find various paintings, figurines, jewelry, etc. there. Also, while visiting the market, you will have the opportunity to try national Thai cuisine, including all kinds of exotic food.

The market with fresh fruits and vegetables operates in morning time within Khuk Khak beach.

There are many restaurants and bars throughout Khao Lak. Lovers of romantic evenings can sit in one of the beach establishments. During dinner you can admire the most beautiful evening sunsets.

More reputable restaurants are located along the central road, and also a little away from the coastline.

It is also worth noting that almost all cafes and restaurants in Khao Lak offer not only Thai cuisine, but also many European ones. average price lunch is 200-300 baht.

Attractions and entertainment

There are not many attractions within Khao Lak itself. Many of the resort's beaches are the starting point for the Similan Islands, Bon and, which are among the top ten most beautiful places planets. The islands are open for visiting only from October to May, so if you are planning a trip to them during your vacation, you should choose a convenient time in advance.

One more most interesting place for visiting is .

From Khao Lak it is very convenient to get to national park Khao Sok, which is famous for its rich flora and fauna. Within the resort itself you can visit Lam Ru Park, deserted beaches, as well as numerous waterfalls, including Lampi, Sai Rung, Tong Pling and others. Also in the jungle resort, you can ride elephants. And the azure sea is suitable for diving.

Beaches

You will almost never see very many people on the beaches of Khao Lak. This is not a place where you have to show up at 7am to get a seat. Absolutely all the beaches of the resort stretch in a wide strip along the sea and have a smooth transition between each other. If you look at a map, even there it will not be possible to see a clear boundary between them.

The main feature of the resort is that it is very rarely exposed to tropical winds. High reefs create an excellent natural barrier to strong waves. This is what makes it available 12 months a year.

The following beaches are the most popular among vacationers:

1)Khao Lak. This beach is located in the southern part of the resort within the Central Administration of Similan National Park. There are no umbrellas or sun loungers on the beach, but large trees grow right on the seashore, in the shade of which you can hide. A wide variety of souvenirs made from sea shells are sold on the beaches.

2)Nang Tong is one of the most visited beaches in Khao Lak. Within its borders are concentrated upscale hotels and restaurants with excellent cuisine. This is a great place for snorkeling, as not far from the coast there is a beautiful coral reef, where you can see not only a variety of fish, but also turtles. The southern part of Nang Thong offers the opportunity to take some wonderful photos against the backdrop of the evening sunset.

3)Bang Niang– a beach with well-developed infrastructure. One of the few in Thailand that has sun loungers, umbrellas, and various water activities. Not far from the shore there are many massage parlors and various cafes.

4)Pakwip– five-star hotels are concentrated within the beach. Plus, the flow of vacationers here is minimal, which creates additional peace and quiet. The beach is suitable for families with small children or for those who want to escape from the noisy city streets.

Hotels

When planning a train trip to Khao Lak, you should keep in mind that it is not one of the cheapest resorts in the country. There is no accommodation here that costs several hundred baht per night. Most hotels located along the coast have 4 or 5 star status. Accordingly, the pricing policy per day of accommodation will start from 3,000 baht. Among these hotels, I can recommend the following excellent options: Briza Beach Resort, Ramada Khao Lak Resort and JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort and Spa.

A cheaper accommodation option can be found along the central road, where prices will start from 1,500 baht. Among budget hotels good options are Nautical Home Khaolak, Ruk Cozy, Khaolak Golden Place and Motive Cottage Resort.

Transport

Public transport in Khao Lak includes buses and songthaews. They run along the central highway and can take you not only to nearby beach, but also to any other province. Taxis are a convenient means of transportation, especially when you need to cover short distances. There are stands throughout the resort where you can see the average cost of a trip.

If you are vacationing on Khao Lak for a long time, then for convenience you can rent a bike or car. Prices for bikes range from 200 to 350 baht per day. Monthly rent can cost 3500-4000 baht. Car rental prices start from 1000 baht per day.

Khao Lak became the discovery of the year for me, despite the fact that I have already been to Thailand many places. It's a little loud, but I didn't expect to like it so much. I usually don’t go on vacation, but if the question arose about where I could go for a week for a relaxing holiday, then I would go there, although there are no “bounty” beaches or any special architecture there...

But it’s soulful and sparsely populated compared to Phuket and even Koh Samui, which are more like cities than lost tropical resorts. Khao Lak has the balance I need between the tourist infrastructure of the resort and at the same time a small number of people.

I have been planning to visit Khao Lak for a long time, I was wondering why it is not so popular, although it is very close to international airport. I had to fill the gap on the blog and write my review and mini-guide. And since I also wanted to go on an excursion to and from, I managed to combine business with pleasure.

Now there is already information about Khao Lak on the Internet, including sites in Russian, not like 5 years ago, but bloggers still don’t really like it. This is understandable, Khao Lak is more of a resort where you can have a good vacation, and not a place for wintering. There are no hospitals, no supermarkets, and housing for long-term rentals can be counted on one hand.

On the other hand, not winterers, but ordinary tourists also usually go on vacation to nearby Phuket, and not to Khao Lak, although getting from Phuket airport is not much longer than to Nai Harn. Why? Apparently too quiet and calm, the place is not for those who love entertainment and nightlife.

Alternatively, visit Khao Lak with excursions from Phuket, which is quite inexpensive. True, on excursions the goal is not to see the beaches and the city, but the temples and jungle in the area. Plus traditional elephant riding and rafting. Just keep in mind if you want something like this.

And I’ll list briefly what attracted me to the resort itself.

  • Quiet and relaxing holiday
  • Minimum of parties, since the contingent is mainly European-retired
  • There are few people on the beaches, since the town is small and the beaches are long
  • The resort looks pretty nice, many of the cafes are nicely decorated and the buildings have cheerful colors
Transport accessibility: mainland, so no need for ferry and not far from Phuket ()

Quite a nice alley - Bang Niang Road exit to the sea

In general, it is very important for me that there are few people on the beach, so as not to feel like a herring in a jar, but at the same time, I don’t want to relax on a completely deserted island.

I know that not everyone will understand me, and perhaps such a desire for solitude is generally characteristic only of residents of megacities. Although this may be purely my own understanding of relaxation, in which it is impossible to enjoy natural beauties from the crowd.

And I will emphasize again. Perhaps it was just me who thought so, but in some places Khao Lak (mainly Bang Niang) really looks a little different, somehow more civilized and European than many other resorts. And this despite the fact that he is not very popular. For example, the beaches of Kata and Kata Noi in Phuket also look European, but there are many more people there.

Areas and beaches of Khao Lak

About the beaches of Khao Lak

You must understand that there is no separate city called Khao Lak, this is the name of several villages/beaches united into one resort. Moreover, most of the resort’s territory is fields with palm trees, and the main attraction is Khao Lak National Park, that is, nature, waterfalls and the beaches themselves. Civilization is concentrated in literally several places.

In total, there are 7 districts/beaches in Khao Lak, of which, in my opinion, most will be interested in only 3, just where there is enough infrastructure necessary for vacationers. And another beach (Khuk Khak) is interesting from the point of view of sometimes coming for a swim, since it is not far from the main areas, but not living there. Therefore, we will only talk about 4 beaches and areas:

— Bang Niang Beach
— Khuk Khak Beach

The remaining 3 beaches (Pakarang Beach, Pak Weep Beach, Bang Sak Beach) are completely amateurish, there is little civilization there, and the beaches are worse, the dominance of Thais on weekends (they come for picnics). I also visited, which is located in the national park between Khao Lak beach and Bang Niang beach, but it is not particularly interesting.

My favorite areas were Bang Nian and Nang Thong. And given that they flow into one another without a clear boundary, you can live in both. Looking ahead, I will say that these two beaches themselves are very similar, but I personally would choose Bang Niang. Moreover, many believe that Nang Tong is the first most developed resort, but it seemed to me that Bang Niang is such.

If we talk about the main areas of Khao Lak (where there is civilization), then I liked Khao Lak beach the least, despite its name of the same name as the entire resort.

Firstly, it somehow looks less neat due to the asphalt and crushed stone roads. Secondly, visually it is less beautiful there than in Bang Niang. Thirdly, there is not even a 7-11 there and, in fact, there is only one small street and a couple of alleys, the area is very small. That is, the choice of cafes, hotels, shops is minimal, there is nowhere to go.

In fact, there is no choice, only one normal minimarket, and even then it’s not a 7-11 after all. That is, for me it’s neither here nor there, and it’s not really in the wilderness, so to be alone and civilization is not enough, if not just once. But perhaps someone will like this particular combination.

But the beaches here are excellent. That part of the beach opposite civilization is fenced off from it by a line of casuarinas that create shade in the first half of the day. First-line hotels have their pools and sun loungers right on the shore, for example, the chic The Anda Mani Khao Lak By Epikurean Hotels & lifestyle with a very high rating.

If you come from Phuket, then after quickly passing Khao Lak beach and passing the pass, you will go down the mountain to the village of Bang La On. To be honest, I don’t know if you need to know this name because the beach is called Nang Thong. And the bus driver or taxi driver, if you tell them that you need to go to Khao Lak, will bring you right here. This place is considered the center of the Khao Lak resort and the most developed, there is even a McDonald's.

The main civilization is located right on the highway, there are plenty of hotels, a 7-11, a bank, and in general, when you drive in the evening in the dark, everything around glows, it seems that the whole city around. This entire area stretches strongly along the highway, and, accordingly, along the coast. The distance from the highway to the beach is less than, for example, in Bang Niang. There are first-line hotels along the entire coastline; La Flora Resort & Spa Khao Lak is highly praised , Although this resort remote from the epicenter of infrastructure and almost bordering Bang Niang.

The southernmost part of the area is sometimes called Sunset Beach, either because it’s good for watching sunsets, or because it’s Khaolak Sunset Resort located. But you won’t find such a beach on maps, and there is no border between the beaches at all.

Be sure (and I insist) to check for discounts or special offers on a great service. It will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more interesting than for exactly the same hotels on Booking.com.

Nang Thong beach is good all the way, I liked it. There are a lot of walking pensioners, two lighthouses, one on the shore, the other at sea, are quite common big stones in water. .

Bang Niang Beach

Many people believe that the most infrastructurally developed beach is Nang Thong. But it seems to me that this information is outdated, Bang Niang is in no way inferior to it, except that there is no McDonald's. But there is a whole one, even 2.

At the same time, Bang Niang is more compact, since it extends much less along the coast compared to Nang Tong. That is, approximately the same number of cafes and hotels are located in a smaller area, and you don’t need to travel kilometers to get somewhere. And likewise, Bang Niang is not crowded even during peak season. All the photos were taken by me at the end of January, and photos are taken on the beaches.

In general, if I were choosing where to stay in Khao Lak, the hotel would be booked on this beach. Actually, that’s what I did when I came to Khao Lak. In any case, getting to Nang Tong is not a problem, beach line so there is no interruption at all, you can go and go, which is what many pensioners here do in the morning and late in the evening.

The entire civilization is concentrated on the highway and near the Bang Niang Road. It overlooks the beach and conditionally divides it into northern and southern parts. South part part near Ramada Khao Lak Resort beautiful and flows smoothly into Nang Tong. The northern one is partially filled with concrete, but there are strips of beach there where you can swim. Further north it is completely wilderness and desolate. .
