In the western part of Corfu, in the town of Peroulades there is a beautiful but very narrow beach surrounded by tall cliffs. This place is considered one of the most beautiful on the island. The path leading to it gives way to a staircase that ends in the sand beach. There's really not a lot of space here, but swimming under the overhanging rocks really leaves indelible impression. Even if you don’t want to go down to the sea, you simply must sit in a local restaurant with a glass of red wine, watching the red sun slowly sink into the sea at sunset. We definitely recommend visiting this place.

At the southeastern foot of Cape St. George in the Myrtiotissa area is located one of the most beautiful beaches of the island. This small beach, sandwiched between massive rocks, is covered in golden sand. The sea here is crystal clear, a beautiful azure color. To get to it you will need to overcome the descent on foot (about 20 minutes in time). There are sun loungers for hire and a small bar, but if you're looking for a solid meal, your best bet is to head upstairs. Nudists love to visit this place, so we do not recommend holidays with children here.

1. Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa beach is truly paradise on the western side of the island of Corfu. It is located in the village of the same name. You can get here either by car or by regular bus. Rocks covered with emerald vegetation, turquoise sea, like on the best beaches Indian Ocean, delicate golden sand, all this together creates a picture of indescribable beauty.

When to come on vacation

The island has everything for lovers of art, history and architecture, and a relaxing time on the beach. Athletes in Corfu will find a huge selection of activities to their liking. There is plenty of entertainment on the island for all age groups.

However, we can recommend the right time for a holiday in Corfu - these are the summer months and the beginning of autumn. Of course, during this period there is the greatest influx of tourists throughout Greece, but here you can also find a more secluded place. The main thing is to get a beautiful bronze tan, swim in warm sea water, and enjoy all the delights of overseas exoticism.

To find the answer to where it is better to relax in Corfu, you should study the important conditions specifically for you and make a choice yourself. But still, the ideal time for relaxation is the beginning of autumn, when olives and grapes ripen, and the market is full of unprecedented fruits and berries. However, this is where the section of my “very exclusive” advice begins and I’m ready to explain why I’m ready to evaluate my recommendations in this way.

The first thing the Internet recommends after typing “Corfu beaches” into the search engine is a list of the island’s beautiful, world-famous beaches. There are supposedly eleven of them, and they are located along the entire coast. The main advice of experienced travelers who have already tried these beaches is to rent a car - and this is fair. Without your own transport, getting to many beaches is very difficult. Of course, nothing is impossible - buses run regularly, their air conditioning is very caressing and refreshing, so it’s a pleasure to ride. But everyone has their own priorities (you can say “troubles”). I’m one of those people who swims but doesn’t sunbathe. At best, I'll take a walk by the water, in the sun - so I'm not interested in sun loungers. And I don’t spend much time on the beach. I just want to sit next to the sea, in the shade of the forest. Take a swim and return to the blessed shade, where you will be caressed by a light coastal breeze...

I hear a lot of objections - I can answer everything, but somehow, with age, the pleasant “wallowing in the sand” has disappeared from my life. In addition, on every trip I want to see, visit as much as possible, but without haste, without stress - relaxing and rejoicing.

And if we add to this the lack of desire or opportunity to rent a car!

There is one more factor that influences the exclusivity of my recommendations. As a rule, tourists do not stop in the city of Kerkyra itself (I will not explain why). People come here for a few days, or even hours, living somewhere on the coast, where there are swimming spots. We were going specifically to the city of Kerkyra and understood that a week’s stay would not be enough to get to know both the city and the entire island (I repeat - while relaxing and without haste). In addition, we were going on a pilgrimage, and this gave the trip a special flavor, suggesting special conditions stay on the island. Thus, we would like to swim in the city, in Kerkyra.

I read and heard that there is a small city beach somewhere in the area Old fortress, but this advice was immediately disputed by statements from other experts: Kerkyra is not a beach city, so rent a car and...

On the first day we went looking worthy place for swimming, fulfilling a pleasant, previously set task - not a day without the sea! We left the house, went down the next staircase that leads from the Byzantine Museum to the embankment and walked towards the Old Fortress.

Good afternoon friends! Resorts in Greece are great for summer holiday on the sea. Today I will tell you about the most interesting beaches of the Greek Corfu, based on reviews from Russian vacationers.

The island of Corfu is located at the intersection of two seas. On one side it is washed by waters Adriatic Sea, and on the other – Ionian. Therefore, the best beaches in Corfu differ significantly from each other.

The beach can easily be called a legend; it is incredibly beautiful and romantic, it is a thin strip of shore, delimited from the surrounding world by high cliffs (100m).

Only accessible at low tide. When the tide comes, the water rises high and reaches the rocks. Tourists get to the beach via two steep stairs, which are not designed for people in poor physical shape. Due to inaccessibility, there is no infrastructure here at all.

A stunning place on the beach is the terrace located at the top. The view from there is dizzying, and the most best photos obtained during a crimson sunset.

Another popular beach in Corfu. It is located 16 km from Kerkyra, on the western tip of the island. It got its name thanks to the church of Agios Gordios, a beautiful temple that will be of interest to architecture lovers.

The beach is located in a bay, with rocks rising all around. Olive groves and vineyards grow on them. The views are simply fantastic. They will delight selfie fans indescribably.

This is the best place for families with small children, there is a shallow sea with a smooth sunset, pleasant sand on the shore. The little one will appreciate this fact.

The infrastructure at Agios Gordios is well developed - there are sun loungers, umbrellas, cafes, showers, and toilets. Large selection of water activities.

Nissaki Beach

The beach is located between Kassiopi and Barbati and consists of many tiny coves that invite privacy. You won’t be able to find a more romantic corner in Corfu. The coast here is strewn with large pebbles. The pebbles have a snow-white tint and contrast with blue waters. Incredibly attractive Nissaki at sunset. Lovers from all over the world come here to see the sun disappear behind the horizon, plunging into the blue depths.

The entry into the water is gentle, and the sea itself is quite shallow and warm, which is very important for families with children. Another group of tourists who adore Nissaki are divers. The clear waters are rich in wildlife that scuba divers love to see.

There are many taverns near the local coast, they serve the best lunches and dinners, replete with fish and seafood.

Beaches of Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa is one of the best resorts Corfu. The beaches here fully meet all the requirements that even the most spoiled tourist can present. Local infrastructure implies comfort, all conceivable and inconceivable amenities. There are many hotels in the vicinity of the coastline, which unites six beaches.

The main beaches of Paleokastritsa are sandy, with small pebbles in some places. The water here is cooler than in other regions of the island. But there are practically no winds - thanks to the high cliffs covered with green vegetation, which fence off sections of the beach from each other, making the area picturesque. The sea is clean, the recreation area was awarded the Blue Flag.

There is a lot of entertainment for lovers on the beach active rest on the water. Can be done boat trip, go to the rock caves. This trip will be remembered for a long time. It’s hard to imagine such beauty just by looking at a photo; it’s better to see it with your own eyes.

Sidari Beach

Another interesting Corfu beach is Sidari - a peculiar mix of picturesque landscapes and excellent infrastructure. A wide variety of people come here - married couples, elderly people, young people. Active tourists have the opportunity to ride water ATVs and paragliders.

Of particular interest are the small bays delimiting the sandy capes; they can be found while traveling along the coast. One of the natural attractions of the island, with which romantic beliefs are associated, is called the “Canal of Love”, and is a narrow strip of sea between sand dunes. There is a passage in the rock that resembles an arch. It is believed that if you swim under it, wishing for the name of your loved one, the relationship will definitely work out.

Perhaps you have not yet decided which resort in Greece to choose, read the article. Alternatively, consider a holiday in Cyprus. Read a comparison of these two countries from the point of view of a tourist who doesn’t care where to go, just to go to the sea in the summer.

if you have interesting stories about your vacation on the island, write to me, I will definitely publish them in the “Readers Travel” section, see details. And on the topic of the article, leave comments, I will read them with pleasure. Subscribe to updates, I recently changed the design, which made the resource more convenient for the reader.

That's all I wanted to talk about today, I'm saying goodbye for a while, until we meet again!

Tatiana Solomatina

Early this morning we went to see the beaches of Corfu.
We drove a rented car to Corfu
Let's go from where we live now - Villa Artemis and go around Corfu counterclockwise.
That is, we are going north along the eastern (north-eastern) coast of Corfu.
I was lazy - having passed from Nissaki before Paleokastritsa- turned home.

The sun shines directly into the camera lens and if I wanted to photograph something, the image would be overexposed.
That’s why I don’t stop: I won’t be able to capture the bays of the northeast that come my way, and there’s nowhere to stop—the roads to Corfu are narrow.

Only once did we go off the road to the beach, my wife read that the beach was famous - Agni(Agni).
I don’t know why it’s famous in tourist guides, but the place is worse than ours Kaminaki and didn’t even bother taking out the camera – just a bay with boats and yachts.
The parking lot is far from the beach.
I didn't want to swim here.

The second beach on our way to the northern coast of Corfu is the beach Kogevina(Kogevina)
This beach is better than Agni.
But it is also inferior to ours.
But there is parking, the entrance is like ours - pebbles.
The water is clear, but there is no highlight.

If you drive a little further along the road, behind the cape in a quiet bay there is a shrimp farm.
At first I assumed that oysters are grown here, but then I looked at the shape of the cages in the water - for oysters they are square, like in the photo

Beaches in the north of Corfu

We quietly move to the northern coast of Corfu.
You can feel the difference: the beaches here are like the shores of some estuary or swamp.
The shore is dirty in color and resembles a mixture of clay and earthen sand.

The depth is ankle-deep for tens of meters.
Sand sticks to your feet and is difficult to wash off.
The tactile impressions from contact are unpleasant.

I cross out the beaches in the north of Corfu from the places on the island that are pleasing to the eye.
I don’t like places where hotels, package tourists, and souvenir shops gather.
These are the beaches: Kalamaki(Kalamaki) and Seki(Seki)

Beaches Sidari(Sidari) - muddy water, dirty sand, stinks of rot, a lot of sunbeds and hotels.
The depth of the sea can be seen in the photo.
Right Love Channel(Canal d'Amur).

Something like something pulled out of thin air: a shallow ravine cut through thicker fossilized clay.
They say that if you swim along this canal, all the women will be yours.

It’s true - I would really like this, but I had absolutely no desire to swim in this puddle.
This attraction can be crossed out from your plans for visiting places in Corfu.

Cape Drastis

Next stop: Cape Drastisnorthern point islands of Corfu.
Don’t park your car where everyone else is doing it - drive further along the country road, why trudge through the heat on foot?
We didn’t go to the cape itself - I let it go there: I took a photo and video without entrance ticket at 10 euros.
The place is beautiful - I recommend it.

Further along the road we stopped at the beach Loggas(Loggas)
This is not a swimming beach, although you can go down.
Better go to a bar Panorama and take a selfie on the glass canopy over the abyss.
To your right there will be a steep bank of petrified clay.
You can see this and take a photo - see the map above.

Beaches in West Corfu

We are already driving along the western coast of Corfu and after Arila beach we stop at the beach further south Agio Georgios Pagon.
Here we finally took a swim.
The water is clean, but icy. This is a feature of Corfu - on the west coast the water is much colder than on the east - there are cold currents.
On the shore of the beach there is coarse yellow sand, the entrance to the sea is deep, small pebbles at the bottom.

3 beaches were promised in secluded bays.
In reality it’s like this: there are probably beaches there, but you have to leave your car somewhere in a village on a mountain and walk about 20 minutes to get to these beaches.

All around there are signs on the asphalt No parking, no public parking was found.
Besides, walking under the scorching sun is not our method.
I didn’t send the drone there either. No photo.
Let's go further south - to Paleokastritsa

Beaches of Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa is very a nice place— in this place the coast is gnawed by numerous coves, some are privatized by hotels or bars.
There are several public beaches in Paleokastritsa - the port can serve as a landmark.
There is a big one public parking. But there are a lot of people. After our cozy and small beach in the northeast, it’s uncomfortable here.

Organized tourists are brought to one of the public beaches of Paleokastritsa by bus - like an excursion. Perhaps someone will understand my horror at this. Nevertheless, people enjoy the sea: they swim, take selfies and photo shoots with mermaids

Conclusions about best place It’s too early to make a holiday in Corfu - we have one more day here before the trip to Albania, but I correctly guessed the current place, which I advise you to do.
Northeast Corfu from the beach Barbati in the south to Kalami in the north of the Corfu Riviera.

Video from our beach

Beaches of the west coast south of Paleokastritsa

We had time to see several beaches south of Paleokastritsa:
Ermones Beach shared by two taverns and a hotel.
The beach is small and quite cozy.

There are small pebbles on the shore, the entrance to the water is good and comfortable.
The water is clear, there are no waves. The best time to swim here is in the evening when the water is warm. The bottom is hard sand.

If you move to the right side of the beach, then further along the shore there is a narrow path and you can park your car and walk to the bay with secret beach.
There are nudists.

Myrtiotissa Beach

This is very beautiful beach with very difficult parking.
If you're lucky, you'll find a place to park your car below.
Otherwise, you will have to smoke tires on a steep climb and park at a tavern or on the side of the road, and then walk up and down on foot.

The beach is small and consists of several islands of yellow sand.
There are no waves. Entering the water is very comfortable.
The water is clear as a tear. The place was chosen by nudists, but they cluster around the edges and do not interfere with life.

Glyfada Beach
I don't like him in the picture, so I took a photo of him from above.
Nothing special and a lot of people.

Pelekas Beach
This is terrible.
Look at the photo:

That's all. All beaches are marked on the map - you can use it for navigation.
