Lloret de Mar- this is the most youth resort along the entire coast. The city is contraindicated for families with children and quiet pensioners, since the noise of parties here does not stop for a minute, and cheerful students from all over Europe seem to have occupied every corner of the city.

The medieval castle on the cliff above the town is a knock-off from the 1940s. There are no significant historical buildings preserved in Lloret de Mar. Everything included in the program of historical excursions in Lloret de Mar was recreated or rebuilt in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Tossa is ideal for a secluded romantic vacation, as well as a calm, contemplative holiday for those who are tired of the bustle of the city and life in the metropolis.

In the old town of Tossa, centered around the Villa Vella Castle (12th century), time seems to have stood still in the Middle Ages. Here you can spend hours wandering through the old narrow streets, looking at the facades of ancient houses, small taverns and bronze statues that suddenly appear from the darkness of the nooks and crannies.

In addition to numerous medieval buildings in Tossa there is a beautifully preserved Roman villa called Els Ametllers, which will greatly appeal to lovers of Roman-era monuments. Modern buildings - villas and hotels - are in amazing harmony with the ancient architecture of Tossa, merging into one delightful view.

The promenade is full of small restaurants, where in the summer months it is fashionable to see real live flamenco, incomparable to what is shown at mass shows for tourists. Here ordinary daily life flows, and visitors disappear among local residents to see real Spanish everyday life.

Calella de Palafrugell

Calella de Palafrugellresort village, popular more with Catalan families than with visiting foreigners. The village is notable for the fact that it is one of the few that retains its original appearance, not “trampled” by crowds of tourists and not succumbing to the temptation to reshape itself to please the tourism industry.

In the taverns of Palafrugell on the beach, habaneras are still performed live - ancient songs about the plight of fishermen and their wives. They serve delicious jamon combined with traditional cheese and garlic bread with olive oil and tomatoes.

Another remarkable site of Palafrugell is the “Russian castle” (Castell Cap Roig). This is an early 20th century estate that belonged to a married couple of Russian pilot Nikolai Voevodsky and Irish aristocrat Dorothy Webster. For the sake of his beloved, the governor built a real Irish castle instead of the estate, and Dorothy laid out a magnificent flowering garden around it, which still amazes the imagination with its size and thoughtful layout.

All year round, Palafrugell restaurants pamper their visitors with the most exquisite seafood dishes, from sea urchins to truly royal “niu”, which takes as long as 5 hours to prepare. Cadaques and Port Lligat

Cadaques is a small but very picturesque village that differs from other settlements on the Costa Brava. Due to its long isolation (Cadaqués was a very inaccessible village until the beginning of the 20th century), the town has preserved a very old dialect of the Catalan language, which is not always understandable to other residents of the region.

At the beginning of the last century, the city was discovered by the Spanish bohemia of that time, from that moment its development began as tourist center. At various times, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Marc Chagall, Federico Garcia Lorca, Joan Miró, the Duke of Windsor and others vacationed here. In August, Cadaqués becomes a world cultural center for several days, as an international music festival is held here, which brings together opera singers and top musicians from all over the world.

In the old part of Cadaqués, the pavements are very interesting, which, unlike other cities in Spain, are lined with large sea pebbles, and not with boulders from quarries. Despite all its charm, Cadaqués is not very suitable for swimmers, as frequent strong winds make the sea too rough and at times even dangerous for swimming.

In general, the surroundings of Cadaques are more reminiscent of the islands of Northern Europe than the beaches sunny Spain. The fact is that Cadaqués is located at the extreme eastern point The Iberian Peninsula is the cape of Cap de Creus, which is blown by all the sea winds of this region.

Port Lligat– the place where the house-museum of Salvador Dali is located. Here he spent most of his life and created his most famous works. It all started with a small house that Dali bought in this abandoned village.

Having moved here, Gala and Salvador fell in love with the local landscapes so much that they practically became recluses, leaving their shelter for a short time. Gradually they bought and renovated the surrounding houses, turning their home into an intricate, bizarre labyrinth of separate buildings. The Salvador Dali House Museum is the main and only attraction of Port Lligat.

El Port de la Selva

El Port de la Selva– the northernmost resort of the Costa Brava. It is not very popular among beach lovers due to the strong winds that characterize this resort at any time of the year. Half an hour from the city there is the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà nature reserve, in which is home to rare species of birds and animals.

Among the entertainment options in Rosas, you can offer the Aqua Brava Water Park, which is not inferior in its infrastructure to the best water parks on the coast. The beaches of Roses are equipped with everything necessary for recreation for children and adults, including water sports for every taste.

Girona- the capital of the Costa Brava, the Catalans call it Girona. At the end of the 14th century, several severe Jewish pogroms took place throughout Europe, and especially in Spain, with the beginning of the campaign to expel Jews from cities. The majority of the quarter's population was forced to flee outside the city to escape the brutal massacre.

Lion statue in Girona (de león en Girona) is a small sculpture of a lion climbing to the top of a column near St. Felix's Cathedral. Nobody knows why the figure was called a lion, because it is made in a characteristic mythical medieval style, and with the same success can depict a wolf, a dog and any other animal. It is believed that if you kiss the Girona lion on the lower back, all your wishes will come true. I must say that the lion hangs quite high and the kiss is not easy. However, the fifth point of the sculpture has been polished by the lips of tourists for many years.

Castell de Púbol or Castell Gala-Dalí)- This old castle XI century, which Salvador Dali acquired as a gift to his adored wife Gala. At the time of purchase, the castle was a rather pitiful sight, since it had been in an abandoned state for a long time and required serious investments for repairs.

Dali rebuilt it in his unique style and gave it to his wife. It is noteworthy that the castle was not conceived as a family nest, but as the sole possession of Gala, in which she received guests only by prior invitation, including Salvador Dali himself. Currently, the castle retains the appearance of its famous owners. It contains an extensive exhibition of works by Salvador Dali.

Medieval cities of Besalu and Rupit

Rupit- another medieval settlement in the mountains of the Girona Pyrenees, which was formerly a fortress built at the crossroads of the most important Roman trade routes. There are a sufficient number of resorts on the Costa Brava, each of which is different unique nature and luxurious beaches. Much will depend on which resort you choose for your vacation. I adhere to the point of view that first you need to choose a resort, and only then the beach.

From the point of view of a beach holiday, a resort like Lloret de Mar, where the beach of the same name is located, attracts attention. This is a sandy beach, 1.5 kilometers long. The place is very lively and popular both among the Spaniards themselves and among tourists who come here on vacation. There is a lot of all kinds of entertainment concentrated on the beach; you can rent a yacht and go to boat trip. There is a promenade nearby with many bars and restaurants. The entrance to the water is quite shallow, which is great for people who are poor swimmers. You will have to pay about 10 euros to rent an umbrella and a sun lounger, but you can sunbathe on a mat and not pay for additional amenities.

At the same resort there is another beach - “Fenals”, which is considered the second largest in the city, but is in no way inferior in cleanliness and level of comfort Central beach. The fact that this beach has been awarded the Blue Flag speaks volumes. There are small shells and pebbles on the beach, the water is clean, but some inconvenience can be caused by the fact that the shore is steep and the depth comes quickly (after about 2-3 meters). But this beach will appeal to those who like a relaxing holiday, since there are not as many noisy parties and vacationers here as on the Central Beach.

If you are planning to stay in Blanes, then this resort attracts attention to the three-kilometer beach of Sa Abanel, which is the center of life of the entire resort. The beach has clean, golden sand, it is possible to rent an umbrella, sun lounger, ride water slides, play volleyball, sit in one of the coastal cafes. One of the disadvantages is the fact that jellyfish are possible in the summer months.

Another Blanes beach that is worth paying attention to is called Santa Anna. It differs from other beaches in the resort small in size(its length is only 75 meters) and the fact that it is always sparsely crowded. This is a sandy beach with no entertainment other than renting a boat or speedboat. There are practically no waves in this place. The only drawback is the German tourists who come here to sunbathe topless.

Not only for a beach holiday, but also for beautiful views It's worth going to the resort of Roses. Five kilometers from this resort is one of the best beaches on the Costa Brava - Almadrava beach. This beach with fine golden sand is located in a bay, which is reliably protected from the winds. For its developed infrastructure and cleanliness, the beach has been repeatedly awarded the Blue Flag. The beach borders the Cape Creus nature reserve and offers simply stunning views. On the beach there are several cafes, boat and bicycle rentals, and if you wish, you can try your hand at diving and windsurfing.

For a relaxing family holiday, one of the best places La Perola Beach is considered to be, which is fenced off on one side by a breakwater and on the other by a port. Waves are extremely rare for this beach. The sand is soft and the water is so clear that even great depths You can see the bottom and passing fish. Availability by the beach Blue Flag speaks for itself.

Girona, Costa Brava

Description of the best beaches and resorts of the coast

Most often, tourists visit the Costa Brava region to see the sights and sunbathe on the magnificent beaches. The most famous of which are:

  • Sant Pol de Mar. The waters of this bay are shallow, and the installation of a special playground makes this place the most convenient for families with children. The beach is more than a kilometer long and 25 meters wide with many entertainments and attractions.
  • Cala San Francesc, Blanes. The beach itself is small, about 200 meters long and more than 30 meters wide. The sand on the beach is very clean, all amenities are provided. You can rent a sun lounger and umbrella for a fee. Located near Blanes and botanical garden which can be reached on foot or by bus.
  • Sa Caleta, Lloret de Mar. The beach of one of the most famous places on the coast is very beautiful and very small, about 100 meters in length. The grounds offer impressive views of the castle located a little higher up.
  • Tamariu. Family quiet and peaceful beach in the village of the same name. The area is completely surrounded by vegetation and beautiful trees.
  • Empuriabrava. The longest beach on the coast stretches for one and a half kilometers of pure sand. From here you have an excellent view of the mountains and the bay. You can stroll along the embankment and relax in numerous cafes.

Important! The water in the Bay of Sant Pol de Mar is very clean, it is recommended to rent masks and see the underwater world.

Coast Bay

When visiting the Costa Brava, you must follow these tips: experienced travelers. When visiting the region, it is recommended to exchange money only in bank exchange offices, as others may charge a large exchange fee. When visiting temples and cathedrals, you must wear pants and long sleeves, as otherwise you will not be allowed in. Also, due to the length of the resort, it is recommended to choose a rental car at one of the points, so you can stop and see more attractions and beautiful bays.

Costa Brava is a resort rich in attractions and experiences. The beaches of the region are clean and equipped with everything you need. Recommended for visiting with the whole family.

While on vacation in Spanish Catalonia, I came across a guide to the Costa Brava. Following him, we tried to visit the most picturesque beaches. Of course, it’s impossible to study the entire coast in detail in a couple of weeks, but we managed to do something.

Beach of Lloret de Mar ( Lloret de Mar) , the closest to us, familiar to many Russian tourists. Its length is about a kilometer. The beach is sandy and there are a lot of people.

Villas along the coast in the eastern part of the beach.

In the western one there is a statue of a sailor waiting for her husband. The symbol of the city.

There are paths on both sides of the beach with nice views.

Tossa de Mar Beach is located 10 kilometers northeast of Lloret de Mar.

The old fortified town of Vila Vella (I will write about it separately a little later) is located in the southwestern part of the beach. I recommend visiting.

Cala Bona
A picturesque uncrowded bay a kilometer north of Tossa de Mar, with a very steep descent.
There is a small cafe

If you walk along the bay to the sea, you will see these views

The beach itself, to be honest, didn’t make much of an impression, so we rented a catamaran and set out to explore the nearby rocks.

At the same time we watched bird fights

Palamos
Two kilometers northeast of Palamos, there is this wonderful sandy bay.

There is a rock in the middle of the beach where you can snorkel

Dresses d'Aro (Platja d'Aro)
We managed to visit a couple of beaches in Platja d'Aro near Cap Roig
This one is further south

This is Cape Horn itself

From a different angle

Port Bo
What I remember most is the beach of the fishing village of Port Bo, which is located in Callela de Parafrugell. The beach itself is not very big, but I really liked the rocks and beautiful houses on the shore. Most of the vacationers are pensioners.

There are boats on the shore and many vacationers sunbathe right in them.

A little further south San Antonio de Calonge there are two cozy small beaches:
Sandy

And stone

Empuriabrava beach, Empuriabrava located next to the Parque dels Aiguamolls de l'Emporda and the La Muga canal in the very north of the Costa Brava. A very long beach with a long sunset. There is a campsite nearby, used mainly by Dutch, Germans and Belgians.

A favorite place for windsurfers and kitesurfers
