Halkidiki on the map of Greece attractions Hanioti. Greece, Chalkidiki peninsula - “Greece. holiday on the peninsula of Chalkidiki - Kassandra. Hanioti village. How to travel to Greece on a budget. what Greek dishes are definitely worth trying. turtle lake

In northern Greece there is amazing place, which no one can forget having been there at least once.

By car the travel time will take about an hour, by bus - approximately 1.5 hours, since it calls at all other settlements of Kassandra (however, there is one main road on the peninsula that runs through all the main villages, so the time does not increase much).

Local taxi drivers (all of them drive comfortable air-conditioned cars - mainly VW Golf, Ford Focus, Opel Astra, Audi A3, BMW 3, etc.) – they ask for approximately 100 euros for the trip. Ticket for regular bus will cost about 10 times cheaper, renting a car starts from 50 euros per day.

Beaches

In the village, in addition to 4 and 5 star hotels, tourists are offered accommodation in less expensive hotels and apartments that do not have their own infrastructure (restaurants, bars, beaches).

This is the best option for those who find it difficult to immediately pay a tidy sum for a vacation, because the most important thing - the cleanest sea and magnificent nature - are the same for them.
Moreover, in Hanioti the public beaches are distinguished by their well-groomed and unusually cleanliness: it is not for nothing that they are regularly celebrated Blue flag, assigned only to the most environmentally impeccable beaches in the world.

The city beaches of Hanioti are kilometers of pure golden sand surrounded by pine groves, cozy bays and all the possibilities for active rest. The water in the sea is the purest - as, indeed, everywhere in Halkidiki.

Another feature of Hanioti beaches: There are almost no strong waves here, the sea is very calm, slight waves are observed only in the mornings. Tourists can rent sun loungers with umbrellas, but in this place they are quite expensive: you will have to pay 4 euros for just one sun lounger.

In addition, to find a free one, you need to arrive at the beach early in the morning: by 10, all sunbeds are usually already occupied. Most bathers sit on towels or mats, offered for a small fee (3-7 euros) in every local shop.

You can also buy an umbrella (costs from 5 euros), although next to central beach There is a small park where vacationers are free to sit in the shade of huge plane trees or palm trees - right on the grass.

The entrance to the sea is smooth: first, shallow water, where the water warms up very quickly, which is especially important for families with small children. In addition, there is a sandy bottom here, they are almost never found sea urchins and other living creatures.

There are fast food kiosks nearby, and local enterprising youth carry water (1.5-2 euros per 1.5 liter bottle) and other drinks, as well as fruits, ice cream, and snacks all over the beach.
For those who love privacy, it is better to go further - to the outskirts of the village. There, in the bays it will be more interesting for those who love diving.

There are offices for renting water equipment on the beaches: boats, catamarans, pedal boats and motorcycles. Here you can agree on sea walks, water skiing, parasailing and similar activities.

Approximate cost: banana - 15 euros, water skis - 30 euros, jet ski - 35-40 euros (for 10 minutes).

Attractions

There are many agencies in Hanioti where you can sign up for a wide variety of excursions - both to nearby places and throughout Greece.

Buyers have the opportunity to choose a model not only from those that are available, but also to order the product they like from the catalog, which presents more than 600 options for fur products.
The fur coat will be adjusted to size and a certificate will be issued confirming its quality.

Kitchen

– these are, first of all, seafood, vegetables and, of course, (salted, pickled, stuffed, etc.).

Local restaurants are, as a rule, small establishments whose owners cook and receive guests themselves.

That’s why every tavern has a cozy, homely atmosphere, customers are greeted as the most dear guests and they try to please them in every possible way.

The portions are huge: cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, olives and feta cheese are served in dishes that are more like basins in size.

The score will please you even more: You can have lunch for two (salad, meat or fish dish, wine) for 25 euros.

Even the smallest cafe offers a huge selection of dishes - both ordinary European and traditional Greek cuisine(all kinds of snacks, salads, fish delicacies, grilled vegetables, meat and fish in a variety of options, fruits and sweets). There are no dissatisfied people after visiting such establishments: everything is very tasty and cheap.

Hanioti resort is one of the most popular places holidays in Halkidiki, where tourists from all over Europe come.
Year by year there are more of them: this is facilitated by the convenient location, nature, and wonderful climate ( holiday season starts in May and ends in October). The efforts of local authorities also help, as they do everything to please even the most capricious travelers.

A couple of years ago, our tourist market appeared Bus tours to Greece, with excursions to European cities. The cost of such a tour (only 385 €) was very attractive, as well as the opportunity to visit several countries at once, and even take a dip in the sea. I have long dreamed of visiting Greece and now the stars have aligned! The vacation was planned for mid-September. And we went there with my then future husband and his parents. The tour included stops in Austria, Hungary, and Serbia. I will share my impressions about these countries separately, so as not to clutter up the space.

I had never before traveled such long distances by bus. But everything turned out to be not so scary and even very exciting. I will not describe our long journey in detail. We traveled for about four days, and crossed the border between Bulgaria and Greece early in the morning.

Naturally, I couldn’t close my eyes anymore. Outside the window, endless fields and olive groves floated by. I've never seen olive trees before. And here in such quantities.

Our path lay on the Chalkidiki peninsula, in the village of Hanioti. This Northern part Greece. The Chalkidiki peninsula has three "fingers". It is also called the "Trident of Poseidon". The first finger is Cassandra, the second is Sithonia, the third is Athos. Our village was located on Kassandra.

VILLAGE OF HANIOTI, CHALKIDIKI-KASSANDRA PENINSULA

A few words about the village. The village is small in size.

But you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay here. There are expensive and budget hotels. Lots of taverns and bars. But there is not a single discotheque, the nearest one is in the village of Kallithea.

There is a large grocery store and several car rental agencies. Eat bus stop, which allows you to independently ride through other coastal villages. There is a representative office of Mouzenidis Travel, where you can take any excursion.

In the evening, the village comes to life; the following fountain lights up in the central square:

Having passed Thessaloniki, it was obvious that our destination was very close. Then the road went along the coast. And, oh praise to the Greek Gods, what most picturesque views opened up before us. The crystal clear Aegean Sea combined with coniferous forests, sandy beaches, secluded coves. Just imagine all this beauty!

Since our trip was supposed to be budget, the hotel was also budget. But! Quite a decent hotel (no cockroaches) with modest rooms and excellent food! And his name Hanioti Grand Victoria 3* ().

Our tour price included breakfasts and dinners . Therefore, the next point of my review will be about nutrition.

FOOD IN GREECE.

We had breakfast and dinner at our hotel restaurant. If you can call it a restaurant, it looked more like a canteen. We went to dine exclusively at Greek taverns located in our village. You can't put into words how delicious Greek cuisine is!

There are a lot of taverns, for every taste and color. Here are some examples prices:

We always went to different ones to try everything. The portions are very large! We often took one between us. On average, it cost us 12-15 € for lunch for two, including the first, second, and beer on top.

What I recommend you definitely try in a Greek tavern:

  • This is the number one dish in Greece. Casserole made from eggplant, potatoes, minced meat and Bechamel sauce. I devoured it there every other day. I tried to cook it at home, but it didn’t work out that well. We need to go to Greece again)

  • Tzatziki (or tzatziki). This is a sauce made from Greek yogurt, fresh cucumbers, garlic and dill. Consolidation! In the photo on the left.

  • Suzukakya (you'll laugh out loud at the name). These are oblong minced meat cutlets in wine tomato sauce.
  • Pastitsio. The dish was served in a clay pot. This is a casserole of pasta, meat and Bechamel sauce.

  • Bugatsa. This is a traditional Greek pastry made from puff pastry. The filling can be with custard, cheese, or meat. We bought it not in a tavern, but in stalls with fresh pastries, and took it with us to the beach.
  • Seafood. There are a huge number of them. We took squid and a whole tray with shrimp, octopus, and mussels.

  • Corn. I have never eaten anything tastier than Greek corn in my life. Sweet, juicy, sold on the beach. Cost 1€.
  • Frappe. And finally, I advise you to refresh yourself with a Greek coffee drink, which is served cold.

There was a supermarket in our village, where you could also get something for a snack. There were fruit stalls. I won’t say that fruit prices were low. Despite the fact that September is the end of the tourist season.

BEACHES AT KASSANDRA.

In the village the beaches are shallow small pebbles. The entrance to the sea is also pebbly. But it’s even useful; walking barefoot on pebbles is better than any massage.

From the Grandotel Hanioti 4* hotel the beach strip is narrow, and the further you go, the wider it is.

The beaches are equipped in some places. But sunbeds and umbrellas are available for an additional fee. Even in Greece they practice this system: if there is a bar on the beach, buy something to drink there (Pepsi/Cola/coffee/beer) and get sunbed and umbrella free of charge .

The sea here is the cleanest! You can see every pebble, every fish, even at depth. And what a color! Rich turquoise! Just a living picture!

Pebbles are not everywhere on Kassandra! We also went to the village of Kallithea. The beach there is sandy. Wide enough.

WHAT TO SEE IN MAINLAND GREECE.

  • In Greece, it is a very popular practice among tourists to take car rental and independently travel around the picturesque coves located along the coast. We didn’t take a car for the reason that we only had 7 days and we wanted to spend them lying on the shore Aegean Sea. But for the future, we asked about the cost of this service.

  • Meteors. Halfway through the journey to Greece, I was 100% sure that I would visit. This is such a miracle, created by the joint efforts of nature and the hands of man, that it would be a sin not to visit. Who doesn’t know, Meteora are Orthodox monasteries located on high cliffs. The excursion cost 50€/person.

  • Works well in Halkidiki transport connection. There was a stop near our hotel with a schedule in Greek and Russian. Therefore, one day we decided to take a ride to the neighboring Kallithea village. He is larger than Hanioti. More active here night life, there are clubs.

We spent the whole day there. The beach wasn't left out either. I mentioned it above.

In the evening we returned back in exactly the same way. By the way, the final stop of this bus is Thessaloniki. Those who wish can go there on their own.

The walk is quite long, about an hour. The higher you go, the more beautiful the views.

Along the way you will come across a small chapel.

Don't forget to bring some treats for the turtles! Along the entire path you will see signs with the same inscription. Follow them. The lake itself is small, but its inhabitants are impressive. There are so many of them!

Chalkidiki. Hanioti. Review of vacation in May.
The village is located on the Kassandra peninsula, on its northern side, almost in the middle of the peninsula, just an hour's drive from Thessaloniki airport (Macedonia). You can walk along and across it slowly, in about ten minutes. Hanioti is a very cozy and green village, with many flower beds, palm trees and taverns for every taste.

Very beautiful beaches in Hanioti. Its central part is all shops and taverns. The hotels are located closer to the sea and a little further to the outskirts. On the second day of our stay, we already knew all the streets and alleys and could walk along them even with our eyes closed and not get lost. And the streets in Hanioti are narrow and short. What I didn’t like was when you’re walking slowly and enjoying your vacation, and cars creep up behind you and you have to constantly dodge them. Moreover, tourists and the Greeks themselves ride mopeds and ATVs through the narrow streets of Haniot. At times it was even annoying.
There is no embankment in Hanioti, unlike the neighboring villages of Polichrono and Pefkohori. There is a piece of path along the sea about 100 meters long. That’s all.

IN good weather visible from the shore middle finger Halkidiki peninsula Sithonia. And in very good weather you can see famous mountain Athos on the peninsula of the same name. Holy place.

Palm alley leading to the Hanioti promenade to the beach.

Cars in the center of Hanioti can be parked at any free space. All parking in Hanioti is free

There are many taverns in Hanioti, many of them have menus in Russian.

One of the central streets of Hanioti. Here, in local shops, of which there are many, we purchased souvenirs such as fragrant Greek soap made from natural olive oil. After washing your hands, the skin becomes truly velvety. When we brought this soap home, even on the landing you could smell the smell of honey - the basis of honey soap.

Tavern "Kassandra".

Especially for Russian visitors.

On the main square of Hanioti there is a fountain with colored lighting in dark time days. On one side of the fountain there are something like stands with benches. Almost every evening this fountain square hosts original performances by either dancers or singers. It's fun to sit in a tavern, drinking beer or coffee, and watch the show. This village is very suitable for those who are going to Greece for the first time .

In Greece you can often see some holidays and festivals. The Greeks live happily, well done!

During our stay in Hanioti there was international festival children's dance.

All the streets are decorated with flowers and all kinds of flower beds.

There are many taverns along the beach where you can have lunch and cafes where you can order any drinks. The prices are reasonable, even very reasonable. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account that it is quite problematic to master the served dish alone. After such a snack, your belly is bursting and you no longer want to move. So this time, despite the crisis, we did not notice any increase in prices, or even the crisis itself. As Metaxa cost on average 20 euros, the price remained the same.

This is what some traditional Greek salads look like.

In many taverns the menu is in Russian. And the prices are quite affordable.

The same goes for other Greek goods and tourist products. Except that gasoline prices have risen by 50%.

In almost all shops, sellers speak Russian. As everywhere in Greece, when passing by such a shop or tavern, you will smile and be sure to say hello. For comparison with Crete. In Crete, if you go to any store, at the entrance there is a cooler with local moonshine, raki. You will definitely be asked to drink 50 grams from a plastic cup. This is not the case in Hanioti. Moreover, we have never seen crayfish on sale, much less racello. Racomello is crayfish infused with honey. But in any quantity there are excellent wines, cognac, the legendary Greek wine Retsina (with a tar flavor) and amazing Mythos beer. The Greeks themselves drink this beer.

Be sure to try some of the monastery Cahors. You can buy it in one of the many shops.

Cahors from the holy Mount Athos.

The main square of the village.

Hanioti has two large supermarkets and two smaller ones. The larger ones are located on the edge of the village on the main federal highway(if you can call it that). You can buy almost any food, fruit, wine and everything else there. Prices for some things are lower than in other stores, for others they are higher. There is even a “Russian products” section.

Looking ahead, I will say that buying olive oil and soap is cheaper in Hanioti, and not in “ Duty Free» Thessaloniki airport.

In small souvenir shops, of which there are a great many in Hanioti, you can buy everything a tourist’s heart desires. This is local wine, cognac, Greek aniseed vodka “Ouzo” (Greeks drink it diluted with water), all kinds of T-shirts with Greek symbols, various types of local soap, etc. A lot of honey. About the soap. As a rule, everything is “hands made”, i.e. self made. It smells amazing: rose, honey, lavender or, for example, orange. We've even seen soap with loofah embedded in it. Price from 2 to 5 euros. All this can be great souvenir from Greece .

There are also many fur shops in the town. But we didn’t go into them and didn’t ask the price.
Greeks smoke a lot. They puff on every corner. However, despite this, their life expectancy is higher than, say, ours. They say this is because they sleep from two in the afternoon until six in the evening (they call it siesta), drink homemade wine and eat a lot of olives. Olives sold in Greece differ from those sold here in that they are highly salted. Reputable institutions do not work during siesta and do not communicate with each other. True, in resort towns the laws are different. Tourist and siesta are not compatible. And the Greeks are also very religious people.

At almost every hotel, and just in every village, there are small chapels where every Christian can go and communicate with God.

Beaches of Hanioti.

Central beach of Hanioti.

The beaches in Hanioti are free, sandy, but the use of umbrellas and sunbeds is paid. I think 6 euros per day for a set. But on the beach you can also lie on your own towel or on a straw bedding purchased at a nearby store. They also sell beach umbrellas in any color. Those interested can rent a catamaran on the beach for 10 euros per hour or a boat with oars. And if you wish, you can catch mackerel fish directly from the shore. Which is what many did. Fishing is free.

The dark stripe behind the motorcycle is just that stone plate. Cross through it and you will find soft sand under your feet. Cross it and you will find soft sand under your feet.

Beginning of the season, May. The beaches in Hanioti are empty. Storms occur in Halkidiki at this time of year. For example, we observed such a storm on Hanioti beach for two whole days.

A piece of embankment with a city beach.

Early in the morning the beaches of Hanioti are empty. In the month of May.

Taverns of Hanioti.

For lovers of tasty and satisfying food, Greece is simply a paradise! There are many taverns in Hanioti. We visited several. The menu in many of them is in Russian, but it is written in a funny way, apparently for fun.

Menu in taverns. Almost everywhere you can find menus in Russian.

Cool menu, apparently a translation.

One of the Taverns. It's nice to sit in such a wonderful place during the heat.

Everywhere the food is delicious and the service is quite decent and absolutely not intrusive. Our hotel included breakfast and dinner, so we dined in taverns. Every day in a new tavern. On the first day we ate at a pizzeria on the main square. We ordered a medium pizza with seafood.

When they brought it to us, we thought that the waiter had made a mistake and brought us a large one. But it turned out everything was correct, the pizza was just average. It’s just that their size is average in size, which is what ours is large. Greek pizza is quite high in calories. It's with shrimp, mussels and mushrooms. All this is perfectly washed down with homemade wine. In Greece, in any tavern, I advise you to ask the waiter for house wine. We ordered half a liter of red wine to go with our “middle”, although white would have gone well with seafood. This order cost us 13 euros for two. Yes, water in taverns in Greece is always served free of charge, and the water in Halkidiki is very tasty.

Everything we couldn’t eat at this pizzeria was asked to be wrapped up for us to take with us. The waiter packed our “unfed food” in a special separate box. By the way, at the entrance to the establishment there is a sign that says “take away”, i.e. You can order pizza to take away or pick up half-eaten pizza. The waiter serving us, as it turned out, spoke Russian. By the way, it’s funny that in many establishments and shops, after greeting in Greek “Ya sas” (hello), you start a conversation in English, and during the conversation it turns out that your interlocutor speaks excellent Russian. As one saleswoman told us, they try to hire salespeople in shops with knowledge of the Russian language. Russian is spoken everywhere: in taverns, in shops, in hotels, and this is pleasantly pleasing.
We tried souvlaki (local kebab) and moussaka in a tavern called “Café de fleur” on the embankment.

I even asked to be taken to the kitchen to see how the moussaka was prepared. A girl, apparently the manager, came out and said: “For God’s sake, look,” but she didn’t take us into the kitchen. I was never able to see or photograph the process of preparing this dish. But still, the moussaka was amazing. These are eggplants, potatoes, minced meat, laid in layers and baked in dough and some kind of special sauce inside. And souvlaki is shish kebab, nothing special. There is chicken souvlaki and pork souvlaki (pork).
If you are a coffee lover, then be sure to try Greek coffee. It costs 2-2.5 euros in Hanioti taverns. Under no circumstances say that you want Turkish coffee. The Greeks are very offended by this.

The neighboring villages of Polichrono and Pefkohori can be reached by bus, which runs along the coast along the main road of Kassandra. Stops in Hanioti are near large supermarkets. “Chalkidiki” is written on the “head” of the bus. Naturally in Greek. They go every half hour. For those who like to travel by car, there are car rentals in Hanioti. But that is another story.

Embankment at night.

This is how Hanioti taverns attract visitors.

Evening Hanioti is no less beautiful.

"Rent a car" in Hanioti.
There are two car rental offices in Hanioti. One is in the center of the village, the second is up the street towards the main road. The one in the center is staffed by an elderly Greek man. In English he can barely squeeze anything out of himself. It was not possible to clarify the terms of the lease with him. But in the second (called “Status”) the man explained everything quite intelligibly and clearly, and, in addition, his assistant speaks excellent Russian. Renting a Toyota Yaris for two days cost us 85 euros with full insurance. The day before the rental, we paid 20 euros in advance and at the appointed time the car was waiting for us near the office. But that is another story. Read here.
In the evenings it’s nice to stroll through the streets of Hanioti or just sit in a tavern.

Small resort town Hanioti, Halkidiki - this is very picturesque village with favorable conditions for relaxation. Absolutely anyone can have a good time here: budget travelers, wealthy vacationers, lovers of a measured, relaxing vacation, families with children, and avid party-goers.

Features of Hanioti

Hanioti in Greece is a compact but extremely sophisticated and lively resort. The village is located on the first “finger” of the Halkidiki peninsula – Kassandra. The regional capital can be reached in 60 minutes from here. But in the summer, with the onset beach season, the village is literally transformed and transformed into one of the most popular resorts the entire peninsula.

Everyone knows that in Greece most settlements have a thousand-year history, and Hanioti, by local standards, is a very young town. It was formed only in 1935. The reason was the famous earthquake, which destroyed the village located on a hill. The residents decided to go down to the sea and began construction of Hanioti. Archaeologists claim that in ancient times, on the site of the town there was a city called Ega, so perhaps many historical exhibits will soon be found here.

Well maintained beaches

For the crystal clearness of the water and coastal zone, it is regularly awarded the Blue Flag. Also on the coast you can walk through banana groves and enjoy views of the Sithonia Peninsula and Mount Athos.

Naturally, on Hanioti beach there are sun loungers with umbrellas, but you can also settle down on your own in relatively “wild” swimming areas. Many people specifically look for such untouched corners for the sake of silence and relaxation in deserted place. By the way, many coastal hotels have their own beaches, but they are not fenced, but simply equipped with an information sign. On one of these beaches you can easily find a place for any tourist who is on a spree.

All types of water activities are available to vacationers on the Hanioti coast in Halkidiki. There is a diving center and volleyball courts. Both beginners and experienced divers will appreciate the local picturesque bays, which can be explored with scuba diving or crossed on jet skis.
