The light, fine sand and shallow bottom attract thousands of tourists with children to the Fallonica coast in summer. The most famous of these are Torre Mozza beach, with an ancient tower on the shore, built in the 1500s to forestall possible Saracen raids, and Carbonifera beach, which takes its name from the no less famous tower buildings of the 19th century. Tuscany resorts by the sea

As you know, there are not many beaches suitable for swimming in Italy. This is due to the fact that most of the Italian coast is inaccessible cliffs extending into the sea. However, exceptions still exist. Some of the best sandy beaches in all of Italy can be found on the Tuscan Riviera, in the heart of the country. The seaside resorts of Tuscany are considered one of the most fashionable; snow-white yachts are often moored here, and local hotels offer the highest level of service. At the same time, the beaches of Tuscany are all entirely sandy, well equipped and have everything and even more for entertainment and a pleasant pastime.

On the Tuscan coast there are several bays at once, from the north the coast is washed by the Ligurian Sea, from the south by the Tyrrhenian Sea. Contrary to popular belief, a holiday in Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi can be very affordable; every year more and more budget accommodation options appear here. However, you must be prepared for the fact that local beaches- paid, and entertainment is much more expensive than at neighboring resorts.

The historical part of Grosseto is perfect for excursion holidays and inspection of local architectural monuments, it is not for nothing that Grosseto is called little “Siena”.

If Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are considered centers of active resort life, then the neighboring , on the contrary, it favors relaxing holiday in nature, while the local beaches are no worse, but there are much fewer tourists there during the “high” season. Lido di Camaiore is also suitable for family vacation with children, especially since the amusement parks Pitagora, Lidolandia and Baby Lido are located in the vicinity. For natural attractions, from Lido you can go to the Apuan Mountains Natural Park. We can assume that the resort in Lido provides an opportunity to combine a beach holiday with hiking into the mountains.

Some of the cleanest beaches in Tuscany can be found in the resort . These statements are not unfounded; the resort town has been awarded the distinction for many years now Blue Flag, which is awarded only to resorts with the cleanest beaches in the world. Resorts

We will tell you about the resorts of Tuscany, Italy, depending on their pricing policy.

  1. Luxurious, expensive

The lightest sand, always available excellent service, a variety of entertainment. Pointe Ala and Castiglione della are included in this territory - more about them will be presented below. Located in pine parks, along main street available expensive boutiques . Cozy cafes near the pier, where you can enjoy the beautiful view in silence with a cup of coffee. Unfortunately, this resort cannot boast of anything else remarkable.

The same cannot be said about its competitor, Castiglione della. There are many architectural monuments in this prestigious place. Medieval castle, For example. The main street is often lively and crowded in the evenings gathers on the port embankment. Restaurants, boutiques, bars are open until late. The beaches at Punta Ali and Castiglione della are the cleanest and most luxurious.

VIAREGGIO is another town on the Versilia coast. The shops on its territory are full of a variety of clothes from top Italian brands. Shopping here is at a high level. But, in addition, those who like to enjoy viewing monuments will find something to do by visiting unusual museum satyrs and marble warehouse, enjoy the views of Villa Puccini. The theater is located nearby open air. It will not do without clean beaches.

SAN VINCENZO is a resort on the coast of Livorno, one of the most popular. You can take a promenade along the main street, where there are dozens of shops, cafes and restaurants. Holiday houses have 2-3 floors. During the summer months, the city is rich in a variety of events organized especially for the sake of guests - outdoor concerts, “White Nights” and other show programs. Great for relaxing with a group of young people. There are many parties in San Vincenzo with dancing and fashionable DJ music; local Italians are happy to welcome their guests.

CASTIGLONCELLO is a lovely spot on the Tuscan coast near Livorno. The resort was once famous as the home of the legendary Dolce Vita - the Sicilian mafia. The main part of leisure time for tourists takes place on the square or in the Cala dei Medici boutique. Nevertheless, choosing this city does not promise boredom. Italians often come here on weekends to relax, and sometimes bikers also gather for a cultural pastime . Local flavor is guaranteed to you. L The summer theater traditionally stages its atmospheric performances for residents and tourists.

In the evenings, life does not stop in this resort. Restaurants by the sea welcome guests, young people can have active fun in disco bars, and older people can enjoy a walk along the embankment. Unfortunately, there are few beaches here. Quite narrow strips by the sea are available, but they are free. Larger complexes are available for a fee. There is an opportunity to snorkel.

Separately, the island of Elbe should be noted. It contains about a hundred beaches! Moreover, there is a place here both for families with children, for whom Fetovaia, Lacona and La Biodola will be affordable, as well as for professional divers and solo travelers.

2. Budget options for a holiday in Tuscany with children.

MAREMMA or southern Tuscany, Italy. Located on the coast of Livorno, Pisa and Grosseto. These places are an excellent choice for a family holiday. They are small in size, reminiscent of dachas, and there are many protected parks around. Resorts in the south are equipped with good service, modern infrastructure at budget prices. Beaches are included in the price, which is very convenient and profitable. There are both “closed” areas and always free.

ETRUSCAN RIVIERA is a province near Livorno. There are no embankments here, and there is little choice of leisure activities. Pizza, boutiques - only the essentials. Ideal for those exploring the whole of Tuscany and staying here for one day. Quiet, cubby for tourists traveling with children. Fertile air, sea.

But in the area of the Etruscan Riviera are located holiday towns with amusement parks, children's playgrounds, trampolines, water park. If you are planning to visit Pisa (it is very close to the Riviera), stop by for a wine tasting and enjoy gourmet cuisine, this is the place for you.

Instructions for tourists, Beach holidays in Italy, Tuscany

Sea, beaches and resort life in Tuscany

One of the most frequent questions I’ve been answering lately is “help me decide on the choice of a resort in Tuscany, so that the sea is clean, the beaches are sandy and free, and it’s not boring in the evenings...” with slight variations on the theme of holidays with children or in a youth company - has finally formed into a single article, which, I hope, will be useful to many.

Another reason for writing it, strange as it may seem, is the absolute impossibility of giving an unambiguous answer to this question based on all the parameters of the “search” for a beach holiday. The fact is that the coast of Tuscany is very different, each with its own characteristics and its own “BUTs,” which I tried to present more or less clearly.

Versilia

The most famous resorts of the northern coast of Tuscany or Versilia (Viareggio, Lido di Camaiore, Marina di Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi) have long established themselves as prestigious places for summer holiday in Italy thanks to a well-developed infrastructure with a wide selection of hotels for every taste, expensive or traditional restaurants, cafes, and evening cocktail bars. It’s nice to stroll here in the evenings - all the suburbs of Viareggio are connected by one wide promenade “Passeggiata”, here are the most the best discos Tuscany, shops and boutiques of all famous brands. From here it is quite easy to travel on excursions to the cities of Tuscany.

And now about the main thing, about the sea. The sandy beaches of the Apuan Riviera are unusually wide, the sandy bottom is shallow (which is not very popular for fans of long swims, but just makes parents and children happy). The water in the sea is quite clean (as far as this is generally applicable to any sandy bottom), as evidenced by the "Blue Flags of Quality", awarded in Italy only to environmentally friendly clean resorts. BUT! here all the beaches are urban (especially in Viareggio) and paid, often with 15-20 rows of densely standing umbrellas. There are practically no hotels with their own beaches, there are no free beaches within walking distance, so among all other vacation expenses you need to take into account additional payment beach places. Thanks to charter flights to Pisa, our tour operators have their main offers here, so there are always a lot of Russian tourists in Versilia.

Resorts of southern Tuscany (the coasts of Livorno, Grosseto and Pisa)

Unlike Versilia, these places are more democratic and less pretentious! Small resort towns, but rather holiday villages, have developed infrastructure, designed mainly for Italian family tourism. The sea here is very clean, with wide sandy beaches and easy access for children. Almost all hotels (3* and 4*) and even aparthotels in this part of the Tuscan coast have own beaches and swimming pools that alternate with free (“wild”) beaches accessible to everyone.

Riviera Etruscan It is especially convenient for day trips and excursions to all the cities of Tuscany, even if you do not plan to rent a car. BUT! – in the evenings there is not as much entertainment here as in Versilia. Fans of evening promenades overlooking the sea will not be able to “take a walk along the embankment”, since there are no usual embankments in these towns. The entire resort life is concentrated on one main street (500 meters) with pizzerias, ice cream parlours and small shops with the basic necessities. Recently, many people choose these places precisely because of a calm and relaxed holiday, and most importantly, because of the special, favorable microclimate of pine parks near the sea!

A few words about the towns themselves. Marina di Castagneto Carducci, Marina di Bibbona, Cecina Mare, Tirrenia- very quiet places where, mainly, Italian families with children relax (there are several playgrounds, amusement parks and water parks). Relatively close for small excursions to Pisa, Volterra, Lucca, wine tastings at farms or little-known medieval towns.

San Vincenzo at the moment - the most popular resort coast of Livorno. It also has its own small “promenade” (imagine one main street with a dozen different boutiques, cafes and restaurants, quite nice and calm, with resort houses of 2-3 floors), where all the vacationers pour out in the evenings in the summer. In July and August there are quite a lot of events for tourists. The newest yacht port "Marina San Vincenzo" is almost ready. Such marinas on the Tuscan coast are traditionally favorite places evening walks and entertainment: aperitif at sunset, dinner with a view of the yachts, evening cocktails with a DJ set.

Personally, I like the Tuscan coast best Castiglioncello– a small town near Livorno, there was once famous resort "Dolce Vita"The 60s. True, here too all the entertainment of vacationers is concentrated on one main square, or in the nearby yacht port. But Castiglioncello does not leave a feeling of provincialism, perhaps because of the Italians themselves, who spend their holidays here or come for the weekend. The town is still For now, it remains such a “fashionable place”, where colorful and quite nice “bikers” from all over Italy invariably gather on Saturdays, and performances and concerts are held in the summer theater at the Castle. The resort is ideal for relaxing couples or small youth groups in a typically Italian atmosphere. The main “minus” of Castiglioncello is the beaches, of which there are not many. Tiny beaches in coves, with a few exceptions for paid ones with bulk sand, are rocky with a pebble bottom, which especially attracts lovers of clear water and snorkeling.

Maremma or Grosseto Coast

Prestigious resorts in south coast Tuscany is considered Punta Ala and Castiglione della Pescaia. In Punta Ala, however, in addition to the luxurious yacht port with expensive yachts and expensive villas hidden in the greenery of pine parks, there is nothing either. The main street with two or three boutiques along the pier with yachts 100 m! In contrast, Castiglione della Pescaia has a very nice historical castle center, the port promenade and the main street with restaurants, bars and boutiques are always lively in the evenings. These places have perhaps the cleanest sea in Tuscany with beaches of fine light sand. But Marina di Grosseto, which recently appeared in the proposals of our TOs, may seem even more “democratic” than the already mentioned towns of Livorno (by the way, it is positioned as inexpensive holiday on the sea in Tuscany).

The main “BUT” of these places, oddly enough, is the infrastructure. These resorts cannot boast of an abundance of hotels, good hotels There are very few 3* or 4* hotels (with the exception of three 5* hotels in Punta Ale). In addition, it is quite difficult from here to go on excursions to the cities of Tuscany on your own (however, recently, thanks to direct charters in Grosseto, Russian technical services have quite successfully solved this problem, offering group excursions in hotels). Punta Ala still remains on the sidelines, inaccessible in every sense to a wide range of tourists (it is almost impossible to spend a holiday here without a car) and staunchly holding the bar as the “coolest” resort in Tuscany, which gives great opportunity isolate yourself from the outside world while on vacation!

We are familiar with its tart wines, cheeses, and fish delicacies. After all, it is here that grapes are grown on arid soils, which are used to prepare the famous Chianti and Montepulciano. The region is famous for the great artists Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael Santi, and it is the birthplace of Dante Alighieri. Their creations still delight any traveler who visits Florence. When choosing a beach holiday in Tuscany, you can not only soak up the pristine beaches, but also visit the famous ancient towns of Italy.

Combination of a beach holiday with visits to historical sites

And how many other small and very beautiful towns there are here? ancient history, among them Siena. The sea coast of Tuscany is home to luxurious beaches, hotels, fashionable discos and clear seas. It is especially developed here individual tourism, wine and gastronomic tours. In addition, you can relax on the coast of the Tuscan Riviera. This is a prestigious expensive resort. People come here not only to relax, but also to establish business relationships and move in the highest circles of society.

In summer it is hot on the coast, this is due to the fact that the Apuan Alps protect from the north northern winds and retain the heat coming from Africa. The beaches of the Riviera are sandy and wide; on some you can find up to 15 rows of sunbeds, differing only in color. Most beaches have a “blue flag” - a sign of clear water and cleanliness. Tuscan beaches are public and owned by cooperatives.

Therefore, the beaches are paid, the price includes sunbeds, umbrellas, as well as showers and changing cabins. The cost of entry to the beach can range from 3 to 35 euros. Also on some beaches there is an additional fee for using the shower for 1 minute (1 euro). Such a high cost is quite justified. All beach infrastructure is at the highest level. In the northwest of the coast is the prestigious Viareggio beach. This is a resort with a two-hundred-year history and has the highest infrastructure.

Things to do on the beach different types sports from sailing to bike rental. The resort is surrounded by a pine forest, a walk through which will bring you pleasure with coolness and clean air. The famous Pisa is only 20 km away. In Forte dei Marmi, in addition to the beach, you can visit the market where you can buy delicious Italian cheeses, wine, and High Quality clothes.

The resort of Marina di Carrara offers wide sandy beaches. Besides all the famous aquatic species sports, children will be able to visit the amusement park. Large cruise ferries are being built in Marina di Carrara. The town itself has many ancient masterpieces of architecture - churches from the 17th and 18th centuries. In the city of Carrara, the main square and the cathedral are lined with local marble.

The square itself is surrounded by ancient buildings, sculptures, churches built by famous Italian architects. It will be a pleasure to stroll in the shade of the narrow cobbled streets and drink a cup of coffee in a cozy cafe.
