Together with the neighboring Legian, they form a single holiday complex. There are many restaurants, bars and clubs, supermarkets and other retail outlets of various levels and types.

Kuta is in demand among young people, because life on its territory is literally in full swing. The excellent beach line, where you enter the water along the sand and not along the reefs, has one drawback - they are constantly crowded. Therefore for family vacation or the privacy of lovers, this zone is not suitable. It is worth considering the constant traffic jams on the roads of this territory - reviews from tourists indicate that they do not end even in dark time days.

Tired of the local bustle, you can relax in Legian, where it is a little calmer. A little further away is Seminyak, which is in demand among golden youth. Its hotels and restaurants have price tags that are significantly higher than average.

Jimbaran

The main entertainment of this resort point is relaxing on the shore, fishing and diving. But the particular popularity of the village lies in its developed fishing infrastructure. A variety of seafood caught from the sea can be tasted right there in coastal restaurants, where luxurious dishes are prepared from seafood. However, this entertainment activities Jimbaran are limited. Apart from such cafes and expensive hotels, practically nothing has been developed.

There are few water and sports activities, only those that offer hotel complexes. This includes snorkeling, diving or a canoe excursion. Additionally, you can visit the morning fish market or a cooking class, which is held in a number of hotels. This place is suitable for wealthy tourists.

Nusa Dua

Where is the best place for couples with children to relax in Bali? An excellent option would be resort village Nusa Dua, which is especially loved by devotees elite holiday. Excellent infrastructure and first-class hotels facilitate a leisurely pastime. There is no nightlife, so if a vacationer has children, nothing will disturb their peace. Kilometers complete the picture snow-white beaches.

You can go here not only in autumn or winter, as is usually the case among travelers, but also in June, when dry weather has an advantage. If they fall out rainy days, then most hotels provide billiards, swimming pools, and libraries.

Ubud

If it is not possible to study the culture and traditions in Nusa Dua, then Ubud, on the contrary, is considered the cultural capital of the island. This is a kind of resort, which is a whole complex of villages. It is less suitable for a beach holiday than the previous ones. However, this is compensated by the concentration of craft workshops and shops selling all kinds of crafts, galleries and museums. Travelers are invited to visit the Ubud Palace, watch national dances, go to the Monkey Forest and purchase goods at the craft market.

Massage in specialized centers is considered one of the best on the island. In addition to it, yoga, aromatherapy, reflexology and many other areas of alternative medicine are developed here. There are plenty of spas in Ubud. There are retail outlets selling natural cosmetics on almost every corner. Fans of partying will find it boring here.

Sanur

For those looking for the best place to relax in Bali in a relaxed atmosphere, Sanur is ideal. This is a combination of well-groomed coastline and developed infrastructure. At the same time, the pricing policy will also suit less wealthy tourists. The cost of accommodation and food here is cheaper than in Nusa Dua, but more expensive compared to Kuta.

To get around the area, you can rent a bicycle, which costs $5-7 per day. But also hiking pleasant - smooth sidewalks, a lot of greenery and flowering plants create an obvious contrast compared to the southern resort group. The main advantage of Sanur is its clean coastal zone with white sand and plenty of water attractions. In addition to the traditional snorkeling for the Balinese island, paragliding, parasailing and riding on all kinds of boats are available. aquatic species transport. A kite festival is held here every year.

Resorts in Bali welcome travelers all year round, and each month has its own charm. For example, in March the island celebrates a local New Year- Nyepi. This very colorful spectacle lasts a whole week and is accompanied by all kinds of festivals, dances and processions. At the same time, on standard New Year's celebration It will be possible to get there in January, but it is worth considering that during this period the weather is mostly rainy.

Beaches

The best beaches in Bali correspond to selected resort areas. However, their key feature is the presence of large waves; you need to try to find quiet place for swimming. But those who go surfing won’t have to look too hard - wave activity can be observed almost everywhere.

The coastline in Nusa Dua and Sanur is best beaches for swimming. The sea there is relatively calm. But these points have another drawback - constant ebbs and flows. During the latter, it becomes impossible to swim, since it takes a long time to get to the water. The Sanur coast is ideal for swimming children - it is shallow there and the danger of drowning is reduced. For an adult to swim normally, he will have to move a couple of tens of meters away.

A less popular but unusual beach with flat water is called Padanwa. It is distinguished by its perfectly clean White sand, and the outskirts are decorated with small caves that will become the best option for photos. There are small cafes along the shore. In Jimbaran you can find a calm sea in a small bay, but the coastline of the village is always crowded. This place is also on the list of the best places to swim with children.

Just behind it is the southernmost island point of Bukit, which is famous for its beach called Padang Padang. He gained popularity not only due to flat water, but also due to his participation in the film “Eat. Pray. Love”, fragments of which were filmed here. After the film was released, the beach area began to develop, with sunbeds, umbrellas, and cafes appearing.

If you want to learn to surf, you should head to Kuta. It is there that the main centers for teaching this sport and rental of the necessary equipment are concentrated. A considerable part of the training schools are organized by Russians. The most big waves observed in February, professional athletes literally flood the island territory during this period. At the same time, competitions among surfers are held. At all best season for such athletes it begins in November and lasts until the end of winter.

Where is the best place to relax in Bali after hard working days, the tourist decides for himself, depending on the criteria he has set for an ideal vacation. You can plan a trip to this exotic atoll all year round, because even on rainy days there is entertainment for tourists.

The mere mention of Bali evokes thoughts of paradise. This is more than a place - it is a mood, an aspiration, a “tropical” state of mind. Bali, famous Island Gods is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet. Here, it would seem, everything is there: terraces of rice fields, white sandy beaches, picturesque green hills, alluring jungle thickets, harsh and majestic volcanoes, dense mangrove forests - places of stunning beauty that will take your breath away. All this in excess luxury resorts, SPA, beautiful waves for surfing, beautiful coral reefs, interesting sights and amazing local culture attract about three million tourists to the island every year. It is warm here all year round (air and water temperatures are 26-28 degrees), but it is worth considering that it rains from December to March, and it is unlikely that you will be able to sunbathe. The flight to Bali is long - from 12 hours, a visa (up to 30 days) can be issued at the airport.

Bali – a mix of cultures and religions

Perhaps the most alluring of Indonesia's islands, Bali is a unique blend of cultures and religions. The main population is Hindu, but there is also a distinct sense of Southeast Asia. Bali has this eclectic mix that makes it different from neighboring islands. The locals are very friendly and smiling and it seems that they are not at all tired of the crowds of tourists. One cannot deny them a sense of humor; when they see a bald tourist, many will immediately wink slyly and say that the rain has been canceled, saying that their head is clear as a clear sky.

The island, which resembles a fish in its outline, is quite small: 150 km from east to west and 80 km from south to north, which is very convenient, because... There is only one airport in Bali, and in terms of sightseeing too. But it is large enough to maintain a calm atmosphere, despite the enormous influx of tourists. Here everyone can find a secluded corner and relax in solitude.

Geography of the island and the main resorts of Bali

South Bali is by far the most visited part of the island. Resorts such as Kuta, Bukit Peninsula, Sanur, Denpasar, Jimbaran, Canggu, Legian, Nusa Dua, Seminyak are all in the south.

Quiet beaches with black sand sparkling in the sun are characteristic of the northern part of the island. The town of Lovina is interesting because in the mornings dolphins swim close to the shore. The city of Singaraja, the former capital of Bali, is also located here.

West Bali is Negara, Pemuteran, Gilimanuk and national reserve West Bali.

Calm coastal villages: Amed, Candidasa, Besakih, Kintamani, Padang Bai, the active volcano Batur with a lake at the foot and the highest mountain on the island, Mount Agung - this is the east of Bali.

The quiet coastal islands in the southeast are popular among diving enthusiasts.

A chain of mountains with volcanic peaks, some of which remain active, runs through the center of the island. On the northern side of the ridge there is a rather narrow lowland, and on the southern side there is a plain, which is the center of Bali culture. Lush valleys and terraced hills where rice has been grown for centuries.

Ubud is the main cultural and tourist center of Bali.

It is these serene landscapes that surround Ubud - the main Cultural Center Bali. In numerous museums and galleries you can trace the history of Bali, get acquainted with arts and crafts. But to absorb a little of the local culture, it’s worth seeing colorful performances with traditional music and dances.

In Ubud you can find many ancient Hindu temples and observe the rituals performed. There is an abundance of all kinds art centers and workshops engaged in wood carving, batik and other local crafts. The most convenient way to ride through the narrow streets of the town is by bicycle, but you can also walk and see the sights. Ubud is the heart of Bali, a place where the island's spirit and culture come into focus. Maybe that's why there are so many tourists here, even though the nearest beach is almost an hour's drive away. To explore at least part of the attractions of Ubud and its environs, you will need at least a week: the sacred Monkey Forest, the Goa Gajah complex with unique cave, Tirta Empul, built on thermal springs, the Yeh Pulu ensemble carved right into the rock, the tombs of Gunung Kawi, the Chapel of the Mother Goddess...

Kuta is the surfing capital of Indonesia.

Completely different resort town Kuta. It is noisy, bright, during the day the beaches are filled with surfers who have chosen the local tides back in the 1960s and 70s, and after sunset it’s seething night life: Many bars and nightclubs entertain the public until almost the early hours. There are wide beaches with golden sand, luxury hotels, an unimaginable range of spa services, yoga is very popular, a lot of shops and souvenir shops. During the day, the public relaxes on the beach or in the Waterbom Park theme water park, and in the evenings they admire the sunsets, which are magnificent in Kuta. People often come to this place for wedding ceremonies and Honeymoon– the atmosphere is conducive to this.

Magnificent Nusa Dua – Balinese luxury hotel

In the south of Bali there is the Bukit Peninsula, in the eastern part of which there is a closed area with a number of 4*-5* hotels, a walking area with boutiques, restaurants and bars, a golf course, a conference hall, and most importantly, a wonderful beach with light sand. All this splendor is called Nusa Dua. The resort is considered elite, the staff is well-trained, there are no annoying street and beach vendors, in general, this is a slightly different Bali - luxury & premium.

Family-friendly resorts

For a family holiday, the calm and clear waters of Sanur and the well-protected beaches of Jimbaran are suitable. But surfers, along with Kuta, have chosen Seminyak. It should be taken into account that the entire coast of the island, where it is more and where it is less, is subject to tides. There is no need to be afraid, because... Most hotels have a schedule posted and so on. natural phenomenon you get used to it quickly.

Unsurprisingly, given the volcanic nature of the island, black sand is the norm, but there are beaches in the south that have fine-grained white sand.

Sights of Bali

Bali's most famous attractions are its countless Hindu temples. Each village has the right to build and maintain at least three temples, but wealthy villages are not limited to this number.

There are nine main temples located at strategic points throughout Bali, which are designed to protect the island and its inhabitants from dark forces. The most important for the Balinese is the Mother Temple (Besakih), located on the slopes of Mount Agung. The Uluwatu Temple on the southern tip of the island is very popular.

Temples are rarely the same in design. Each decorative detail is strictly thought out and has an earthly or spiritual nature. There are also common elements that are unchanged for the vast majority of temples. This is primarily a division into three courts: Jaba (outer court), Jaba Tenga (middle court) and Jaroan (inner court). Each of these courtyards contains separate structures and shrines of varying levels of importance.

The multi-level pagodas, covered with black palm fiber roofs, are very elegant. The number of tiers must be odd.

To enter any temple, you should wear a sarong, which you can rent, but it is more convenient to buy and always carry with you.

Natural attractions of Bali

All of Bali's mountains are dormant volcanoes, but some are still active. The magnificent Mount Agung (3142 meters) dominates the East Bali landscape and has remained tranquil since 1963. Much more active is the Batur volcano, constantly smoldering and periodically producing emissions. You can climb it in a couple of hours - it’s one of the most accessible active volcanoes throughout Indonesia.

Come to Bali too - you will have a good holiday!

This is Bali: so small and so big, so noisy and so calm... so different... Here you can watch how the mahouts wash and train the elephants and take a ride on the gray giant; freeze at the stunning view from the top of the mountain and admire the sunset; lie on the beach all day and catch the best wave of your life; see a lot of new and interesting things and just have a wonderful time relaxing.

P.S. Fans of all-inclusive holidays in Turkey may be disappointed by the island. In general, those who have visited Bali are divided into those who fall in love with the island once and for all and those who understand that this place is not for them. But it’s still worth coming here, otherwise how will you know...

Resorts and beaches of Bali on the map

The best holiday resorts in Bali

Not so long ago, Kuta was a favorite haunt of hippies; now it is the most famous and lively resort in Bali. It is conveniently located (close to the airport), with developed infrastructure and good sandy beaches. Kuta has a water park, and 20 km from the resort is the famous Tanah Lot Temple, majestically rising above the ocean.

A holiday on the beach in Kuta is perfect for young people who lead an active lifestyle and come to Bali for surfing. The spots are suitable for beginners - medium-sized waves, no dangerous reefs or rocks. During the day, the beaches are very crowded; vacationers are constantly pestered by merchants, pushing their goods and services; at night, life is in full swing in bars and clubs.

Legian is located 2 km from Kuta. It’s a little quieter there, this is a good place for young and cheerful people who prefer to relax on the beach during the day and go to noisy Kuta at night. Beyond Legian is the resort of Seminyak. These three resorts literally adjoin each other, forming a single resort area. And if Kuta and Legian offer housing at affordable prices, then Seminyak is aimed at the gilded youth. There are located expensive hotels and restaurants, and the vacation is supposed to be lazy and serene, as befits VIP tourists.

Jimbaran

A small village where the local population earns money mainly from fishing. One part of Jimbaran beach is occupied fishing gear and boats. The other is coastal restaurants where you can try fresh seafood (they are considered the best in Bali), and expensive 5* hotels. At the resort good places for diving and snorkeling, but only wealthy people can afford a holiday here - prices are high. You can swim calmly in the southern part of the beach, protected by a cape.

Nusa Dua

Once there were mangroves here, now this is one of the best places to relax on the island of Bali. Nusa Dua has all the conditions for a relaxing holiday: luxury hotels, golf courses, tennis courts and cycling paths.

Nusa Dua - the only resort Bali, where the beaches are closed to locals, but its isolation does not allow you to get acquainted with the unique culture of the island. There are no attractions in Nusa Dua - in fact, it is a street along which hotels, cafes and excursion stands are located. If you arrived on a package deal and only want a beach holiday, then the resort will suit you. If you want to get acquainted with the culture of the island, it is better to choose another Bali resort, for example, Ubud.

Prices for accommodation and food in Nusa Dua are significantly higher than in other places on the island.

Tanjung Benoa

This developing quiet resort, which arose on the spot fishing village, located near Nusa Dua. It differs from its fashionable neighbor by the presence of 3-4* hotels and loyal prices for vacations. Here beautiful beaches and international population. Different world religions coexist in Tanjung Benoa, as evidenced by the temples and mosques located next to each other.

During the day, vacationers go water skiing, surfing, snorkeling and parachuting, and in the evening they dine at one of the restaurants. Loyal pricing policy attracts newlyweds and married couples craving privacy.

Sanur

This oldest resort island, and its developed infrastructure makes it one of the best places where you can relax in Bali: there are hotels of different price categories, cafes and shops, and many well-kept tropical gardens. Holidays are cheaper than in the decent resort of Nusa Dua, but more expensive than in noisy Kuta. Most often, families with children relax here, since the coast is flat and active people - calm water is conducive to snorkeling and diving. And the downside is that when the tide goes out, the water goes very far.

Sanur has ancient temples, a museum of the artist Adrien de Merpres and a large entertainment center with water slides and attractions. From Sanur it is convenient to get to the volcanoes and hot springs of Bali, and not far from the resort there is an island with giant turtles.

Ubud is cultural capital islands and the best place for those eager to get acquainted with the customs and traditions of Bali. The city is located among tropical forests in the mountainous part of Bali. There are no beaches, nightclubs or bars here, but there are many temples, souvenir shops and restaurants. Accommodation prices are affordable for any tourist.

The city has many museums, craft workshops and art galleries, where international exhibitions are periodically held. You can regularly see Balinese dance performances and music concerts.

You can buy souvenirs in the shops self made. This city is remote from the coast, but has an excellent location for walking and cycling. The surrounding landscapes are picturesque - rice terraces, green hills, rainforests and rivers. There is the famous Monkey Forest.

The best beaches in Bali for swimming

The special features of Bali are permanent waves. Most places have them, making swimming difficult. The exception is relatively calm Nusa Dua beaches and Sanur, but they also have their own drawback - ebbs and flows, due to which vacationers have to adhere to a schedule. When the ocean recedes, algae and other debris remain on the sand, and the water level becomes knee-deep. When choosing a place where you will relax in Bali, pay attention to the beach and read reviews from tourists.

  • In Sanur The beaches are wide and long, with shallow water off the coast. To swim, an adult needs to walk several tens of meters away, but children have a great time swimming.
  • Beach Tanjung Benoa spacious and clean with fine white sand but the same tide problem as Nusa Dua.
  • Fabulous sand beach in Bali you can find in Jimbaran. It is located in a small bay, shallow near the shore, the water is quite clean and calm, which makes it safe for children to swim.
  • Good beach for swimming in Bali Padang-Padang. The water here is crystal clear, there are almost no strong waves near the shore. Surfers always go further away to surf, so there is no need to worry about sudden impacts from the board.
  • Quite an unusual beach Pandava- perfectly clean with white sand and calm water. On its outskirts there are several caves where you can take pictures, and there are cafes along the beach, where you can rent a kayak or lie on a sun lounger.
  • Glamorous beach Dreamland- one of the few bounty beaches in Bali. It is quite popular among tourists, but the waves here are high, and not everyone can swim.

The best beaches in Bali for surfing

The vast majority of Bali's surf spots are located in the south of the island within a radius of several kilometers from Kuta. During the dry season, there is always the right wave here, so safe swimming is only possible in the evening, when the waves subside and most of the athletes migrate to drinking establishments. There are fewer surfers on Bali beaches such as Legian and Seminyak, but strong waves are not conducive to swimming. The waves are even higher in Canggu and Uluwatu. These beaches are popular among experienced surfers.

In conclusion, it is worth noting that each resort and beach on the island is beautiful in its own way, and only after visiting all its corners can you determine for yourself where is the best place to relax in Bali.
