This waterfall can be seen by taking the cable car to the top. During the rainy season it is especially noticeable among the green hills.

Since we were in Langkawi not during the rainy season, instead of a waterfall we saw a thin stream of water. But to climb to its top, you need to overcome more than 600 steps, despite the fact that there is no lift there. Therefore, it will be difficult for those who are not very athletically prepared :)

This waterfall is one of the main attractions of the island. We came here by car and immediately encountered such a nuisance - huge amount macaques that live in the vicinity of the waterfall. Moreover, they already know that this place is always full of tourists with food! That's why they don't even let you get out of the car. I had to drive it away with a stick, but perhaps it’s better not to do that, the monkeys are very aggressive in response. It is better to hide everything from their eyes as securely as possible, especially equipment - smartphones, cameras.

Monkeys also brazenly climb on cars, on the roof and hood, so do not forget to close it so that it does not happen like the case from the news when a monkey in Malaysia opened the car and stole the man purse.

At the entrance to the waterfall territory, we had to go through the control of another important person, who clearly didn’t want to let us in “for free”, and kept peeking out to steal from us.

The macaques did not steal, but brazenly took away plates of food and packages of drinks, and made a terrible mess.

The second time we saw them on Kok beach, they were sitting in the trees and we managed to lure them out of there with great difficulty and with the help of bananas.

While tourists are more interested in climbing mountains and admiring secluded bays, expats who have seen it all tend to spend time in bowling alleys, cinemas, playing tennis, football, dancing Zumba in bars and sailing on a yacht.

There are two main shopping centers in Kuah, "Langkawi Fair" and "Teow Soon Huat". Since these and other shops on the island are duty free, many people come from the mainland simply to shop - to buy Persian carpets, local handicrafts, batik, household goods, candy, tobacco, beer, wine and spirits. All this costs much less here than in other parts of Malaysia. City center - "Langkawi Mall" which is essentially a concentration of stores and the main magnet for buyers.

Hotels and other places to stay in Kuah are varied - from budget to luxury. On Persiaran Putera, the main road leading from the ferry station, will offer you the most famous hotel cities, Eagle Bay Hotel overlooking Legenda Park. This hotel is close to the ferry terminal and nearby diving center "East Marine Divers". Rooms here start from RM125, and there is a swimming pool. This is a good inexpensive place, ideal if you need to leave the island early or if you are a diver and need to leave early in the morning for your next dive.

There is a hotel a little further away Putra Hotel with standard double rooms from RM60 per night (with Wi-Fi, TV and air conditioning.) Located almost next door Hotel Langkawi– the most pleasant choice for the budget conscious tourists - numbers here they cost from 36 ringgit per night. This is a very affordable option, but you get what you pay for. I mean, the hotel is pretty shabby, but if that doesn't bother you, choose it. In the Langkawi Mall complex you will find a one-star simple motel Trillion Motel, where rooms with air conditioning and Wi-Fi start from RM50.
Parallel to Persiaran Putera, closer to the embankment, lies Jalan Penarak, with its three budget hotels: Dsa Motel, where rooms cost from 60 ringgit, Motel Sri Manis, where rooms cost from 55 ringgit and Amara - rooms from 85 ringgit per night.

More prestigious hotel - Bella Vista, from which a magnificent view of the sea opens.
Standard double rooms there they cost from 130 ringgit per night. Grand Continental is another seaside option, with rooms starting from RM140 per night.
It should also be noted that the modern hotel Bay View Hotel, with rooms ranging from one of the most luxurious in Cuah, with its restaurants and spa. All rooms of this hotel overlook the sea and cost from 400 ringgit (for a standard room for two).

There are so many eateries in Kuah that it's hard to know where to start. Best place for Hainanese chicken and rice – Chicken Joe's at Langkawi Mall.
Costing from RM6, it's definitely worth a try. There are a number of restaurants just off the main road, open only in the evenings. "Wonderland" by far the most popular, serving Chinese food and seafood for just RM12.
In the city center you will find restaurants with outdoor seating, where everything is relatively inexpensive. You will find people hanging around here at any time of the day or night - local residents and foreigners.

If you want to dine on something more familiar, go to "Domino" in the city center - one of best places in the city where you can order pizza, burgers and lamb.
Langkawi Fair Mall has the cutest "Art Cafe", a small bistro and also a small art gallery.
Order excellent coffee and a menu of Western and Asian fusion cuisine. "The Pier"- a favorite among local sailors and local expats.
They serve Western and Thai food (cheese toast and fries for RM12). For a more "decent" lunch, go to "Charlie's Place" at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club - here you will try Western and Malay cuisine and dine while enjoying views of the harbor.

Kuah night markets are held on Wednesday and Saturday in the city center. You can come here, again, to enjoy yourself, and here you can do it for ridiculous money. You can try the dishes right here or ask for takeout (you can bring your own containers).

As for the city's attractions, this is, first of all, the park Taman Legenda (Legends Park)- museum under open air, dedicated to the myths and legends of Langkawi.
It can be reached on foot from Kuah Jetty. Beautiful park has many sculptures that tell about local tales. It's free, by the way.
One of the main Hindu temples of the island, Sri Subramaniar located in Langkawi Mall area.
This is a very beautiful building and you definitely won’t miss it. You will also find unusual things in the city buddhist temple in limestone rock. Part of the temple is decorated with mythical images.

Gallery Perdana keeps thousands of gifts to Mahathir Mohamad (a politician and Prime Minister of Malaysia) from other world leaders - what a spectacle! Entrance costs about 10 ringgit.
Killim River Jetty is located not far from this gallery - tourists go on mangrove tours and excursions to the Geopark from here. There is a beautiful Durian Falls.

This is such a cool city that it’s simply a shame not to explore during your trip to the island of Langkawi.
