We'll tell you where to go as a tourist in Moscow, besides the Kremlin, Arbat and Sparrow Hills. We have collected the most unusual places capital Cities.
Planetarium
Metro: Barrikadnaya
Distant planets become close - you can even touch them. In the Great Star Hall there is a luxurious starry sky that you will not see in the city. The guides introduce you to heavenly world much better than school astronomy teachers and talk about real space incidents.
In the Lunarium you can touch almost everything, perform physical experiments, and even ride a space bike. There is a dome cinema with special effects. Time flies by unnoticed and actively, and new knowledge appears in your head without effort.
Moskvarium
Metro: VDNH
Look not only around, raise your head: maybe at this very moment a shark is watching you from above. Scary and wonderful: the aquarium is on all sides, except for fish, octopuses and stingrays, jellyfish and skates live here. During the day you can see employees feeding piranhas and sharks, and you can feed small, safe fish yourself.
The dolphin show is a whole theatrical performance with a plot and not only dolphins perform, but also sea lions, walruses, killer whales, and beluga whales. Be careful: the first row will be wet.
Panorama Museum "Battle of Borodino"
Metro: Victory Park
The museum is dedicated to the Patriotic War of 1812; it is both historical and artistic. The main exhibit is a hundred-meter canvas depicting the Borodino Field by artist Franz Roubaud. There is also a whole gallery of military heroes who became famous a hundred years ago (not only the well-known Kutuzov), many paintings and drawings illustrating the war.
Later, military and household items from the early 19th century, weapons, and dishes appeared in the museum’s collection. Patriotic and interesting, you can get around the museum quickly enough; with an audio guide or a guide it will take longer, but more informative.
If you want to not just walk around the capital, but learn something new, then we recommend that you pay attention to excursions in Moscow. Eat wide choose entertainment: from exploring the diamond fund and Stalin's skyscrapers to visiting the Mosfilm film studio and descending into the underground river.
Sokolniki Convention and Exhibition Center
Metro: Sokolniki
Exhibitions change, but there is always something interesting and often extravagant. The center is multinational, so you can see the impressive works of the German anatomist Gunther von Hagens and an exhibition of ancient Russian weapons.
Various festivals are held here: from food festivals available not only for viewing to exhibitions and sales of tuned cars. At the seminars, adults will learn something new, and children will be attracted by cat and horse shows.
Ostankino Tower
Metro: VDNH
The tower celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017. Here you can look at the golden-domed tree from a height of half a kilometer, there is something to be impressed by. At dusk the capital lights up with lights: you can see the light entertainment venues more accurately than in a search engine, study history using the diagonal old low-rise buildings and the strict lines of high-rise new buildings.
One of the entertainments in a closed area is a transparent floor: you stand above hundreds of meters of emptiness and are afraid that the glass will crack. On the inside of the site for comparison there are photographs of other skyscrapers on Earth. Convenient - open daily from 10 am to 10-11 pm.
Moscow in miniature
Metro: VDNH
An architectural model of the historical part of the city is located in a separate pavilion of the exhibition center. Not only famous buildings like the Kremlin and Red Square, but also the alleys and alleys in the neighboring blocks are reproduced with great accuracy.
The maximum emotions will be received not by those who are in the capital for the first time, but by those who have already walked in the center: nostalgia and feelings of “wow, how much we once went through” roll in. Of course, this is not the St. Petersburg grand model of Russia, where everything moves, but real distances are observed, and, which is very rare, visiting the exhibition is absolutely free.
Museum of Erotic Art "Tochka G"
Metro: Arbatskaya
Exhibits are exclusively for adults with a sense of humor. And this is not a museum in the usual sense of the word, where you can learn something new or learn something. Rather, it is a collection of a wide variety of things related to the intimate side of life.
The most predictable objects are crossed with Russian folk art - painted like Khokhloma or carved from wood. Those who are particularly uninhibited are allowed to take pictures with exhibition samples for free. It will not be boring.
Kuskovo Estate
Metro: Vykhino
The magnificent Sheremetev Palace with a large well-kept park with ponds around. The estate has preserved much of its original appearance and has been carefully restored: original dishes, porcelain and glass, paintings, sculptures, clocks, and candlesticks are on display here.
You can admire the interiors not only in the palace, but also in the Dutch and Italian houses: tiled walls, antique furniture, antique inlaid floors. Unique place rest - Grotto - decorated with marble and paintings made of shells, such beauty will take your breath away. Every third Sunday of the month you can see the estate for free.
The park is very cozy, with smooth alleys, lawns, flower beds, and statues. It is quiet and very beautiful here, especially in summer.
Film city Piligrim porto
A wonderful amusement park in the Moscow region, in some ways a time machine. Firstly, it is too quiet and spacious for the 21st century. Secondly, houses in the style of the 18th century (in the European incarnation) and Jack Sparrow’s “Black Pearl” were built around.
It is in such places that historical films are shot, with entire streets from another era. Perfect place for photo shoots. Unfortunately (or fortunately for future visitors), it is closed for reconstruction as of September 11, 2017.
Things to do
- Tripster - craft tours from locals.
- Sputnik and Wheatlas - excursions from professional guides.
Kremlin in Izmailovo
Metro: Partizanskaya
The Izmailovo Kremlin is picturesquely beautiful, but newly built. However, the basis is taken from ancient rich estates and Russian wooden architecture. In the interiors of the past they teach the basics of folk crafts (for a while you can become a blacksmith, potter, baker).
There are several small museums - chocolate, bread, vodka, toy. Most of the Kremlin territory is a market: paintings and products are sold here self made, antique things. Russian folk festivals are held. Nearby on the island there are a preserved estate and the Intercession Cathedral of the 17th century. At sunset the view is magnificent.
Zaryadye Park
Metro: Kitay-Gorod
The place is fashionable, and it is from this point of view that you should approach its visit. They talk a lot about Zaryadye, and at the very least you should visit it to form your own position. And you need to be prepared for crowds no less than on Red Square and the Kremlin. And the park is in the very center and is open 24 hours a day, isn’t this a reason?
Among the interesting things are the Ice Cave and the Underground Museum. From the observation deck above the Moscow River (from the Floating Bridge) open beautiful views to the Kremlin. Many plants have been planted that will delight visitors in the warm season.
Kuznetsky Most Street
Metro: Kuznetsky Bridge
A very nice pedestrian zone, a second Arbat and, perhaps, even more historical attractions. The majestic buildings of solid architecture are strikingly different from modern “glass” buildings, and everything is covered in legends.
In the evenings the street glows romantically with lights, and during the day you can visit the Museum of Soviet slot machines(and play them of course). And very close by will be the Savvinskoye Compound - the heaviest moved yard in the world. In fact, it was moved, moved to a new foundation along with several more houses on Tverskaya.
Art cluster "Red October"
Metro: Kropotkinskaya
Once there was a famous confectionery factory here, now all that remains is a chocolate museum and a shop of authentic sweets. An art space has been organized in the old building, where concerts, photo exhibitions, educational seminars, and sales of vintage items are held. There are great views from here and there is always movement.
Beer bar "Kamchatka"
Metro: Kuznetsky Most
A colorful place for which you shouldn’t make excessive demands. Beer is inexpensive, meat and cakes are delicious, and the interiors are being updated. Aboriginal people love the bar for the opportunity to grab a beer and sit with it on the grass right in the center of Moscow (in the warm season, of course).
Cat cafe "Cats and People"
Metro: Prospekt Mira or Komsomolskaya
They belong to an anti-cafe, where the duration of the visit is paid, and coffee and cookies are free. the main objective cafe - shelter stray cats and kittens and find them permanent homes; the animals are maintained through contributions from visitors. The cats sleep and frolic in the main hall, they are allowed to be held and stroked, they are all vaccinated, so the interaction is safe for both cats and people.
Park of Arts "Museon"
Metro: Park Kultury or Oktyabrskaya
Tourists come to the Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val (collections of the 20th century), and locals visit Muzeon to relax or work in a non-standard environment. In summer there are many mini-gazebos, with pear-shaped chairs scattered on the grass under the trees. Exhibitions are held here open air: floral, thematic, small sculptural forms (still, Peter the Great, Tsereteli’s works are not entirely in the park). In summer there are fountains and souvenirs are sold.
Where to go if you're short on time
If you only have one day, start your morning with a large museum - the Planetarium or Moskvarium. Then return to the center, have lunch at GUM in dining room No. 57, take a walk along Red Square, Zaryadye, Arbat, Kuznetsky Most street. You will pass by the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, go down to the lower church, rarely anyone gets there. After a busy day, go up to observation deck Ostankino TV tower to see with your own eyes the famous web of the luminous capital. What can be combined?
- Oceanarium and model of Moscow at VDNKh.
- Visit to Zaryadye and the alleys and alleys of Kitay-Gorod.
- IN good weather and in good company it is quite possible to walk along the embankment along the river from Muzeon to Vorobyovy Gory: the view from there will completely replace paid observation platforms.
- Getting acquainted with Arbat as a whole, you can visit the Museum of Erotic Art.
- From the center you can walk along Lubyanka, where there is a new church of the Sretensky Monastery with an elevator, and walk to Chistye Prudy. There is an egg house there, and there is a lot of interesting graffiti in the area. Yes, the distance is long, but there are so many interesting things you can see in old houses.
In general, it’s good to walk in the capital without a navigator. Go where your feet lead. Where you see something beautiful. And this one individual route will leave more impressions than a classic guided walking circuit.

Today, guests of Tsaritsyn can take a fascinating tour of the palace halls and park alleys, as well as visit an art exhibition or a music concert, which has long become a good tradition here. A photo session in historical costumes against the backdrop of the luxurious interiors of the royal palace is very popular among visitors.
Now you know where to go in Moscow, but keep in mind: the listed attractions are only a small part of all the interesting things.
And for a snack beautiful video Moscow ↓
Today and over the weekend
If you came to Moscow for the first time, you don’t know where to start your trip, your knowledge of the capital is limited to the Kremlin, the Bolshoi Theater and “in my opinion, there’s a zoo here somewhere,” then a sequential list of where to start the excursion is especially for you to the most famous places in Moscow.
Red Square. This is where we begin our journey and get to know Moscow. (visiting is free, except maybe buy candles for a hundred rubles from enterprising “pseudo-priests”)
You will be able to see St. Basil's Cathedral, built in 1550 (admission is paid) and the Spasskaya Tower with the famous clock (you won't get in).
Nobody knows when Red Square appeared. The date given is the 15th century, the reign of Ivan III. The square was a market square, it was called Red only in the 17th century. There was a monument to Minin and Pozharsky near the Execution Ground; it still exists on Red Square, only it was removed closer to the cathedral because it interfered with parades.
In 1881, the Historical Museum appeared. Initially, the museum sculptor Sherwood wanted to place it between the Nikolskaya and Spasskaya towers, but he was not allowed, of course.
In 1893, the Upper Trading Rows appeared in Moscow. Find the GUM with your eyes - these are the rows.
In 1924, a mausoleum was built (admission is free. If you come to Red Square before lunch, you can get into it and look at what should now represent Lenin).
Alexander Garden. Here you can go see the Eternal Flame - Memorial in memory of the Unknown Soldier. And from here you can immediately see the Kremlin.
In 1156, Yuri Dolgoruky ordered the construction of a fortress in Moscow. At first it was wooden, but already under Dmitry Donskoy it became stone.
The Kremlin is surrounded by twenty defensive towers.
In 1547, Tsar Ivan IV Vasilyevich made the Kremlin the residence of the Russian tsars.
Until 1917, the Kremlin was free to visit for all people. But the communists came and made it only for themselves. They held congresses in the Kremlin Palace, the Chamber of Facets was turned into a dining room, a gym was made in the Catherine Church, and the Miracle Monastery became a hospital. The current authorities have begun to let ordinary people into the Kremlin, but for money, so you can go if you want.
Inside you can look at the churches and cathedrals, the Armory, as well as the Tsar Cannon, which never fired, and the Tsar Bell, which never rang.
If you go from the Kremlin towards Revolution Square, past the Metropol Hotel (by the way, in 1889 a competition was held - who would build this hotel, Lev Kekushev won, and the Metropol was built by William Walcott, who took fourth place, so in Russia there have always been fair elections) and go to Theater Square you can see the Bolshoi Theater. Once upon a time he was business card capital, today it’s unclear what it is, there’s little left of music there. But let's not talk about politics.
Let's return along Okhotny Ryad Street to Tverskaya Street. You can go two ways: either a little further along Mokhovaya Street, where you can look at the National Hotel and the old building of Moscow State University. Later, on Vozdvizhenka Street you will see the Lenin Library.
Or go up Tverskaya to Pushkin Square and look at the Pushkin monument, then along Tverskoy Boulevard pass by the Moscow Art Theater and the monument to Sergei Yesenin. One way or another, we will still get to Arbat.
Arbat. The first mentions date back to 1493. Previously, the width of the street was no more than ten meters. There was even a tram here! Stalin passed through Arbat every day from the Kremlin to his dacha in Kuntsevo. And in 1970 the street became completely pedestrian.
So... Where else can you go... Well, from here you can walk on foot through Gogolevsky Boulevard to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Built in 1812 by Alexander the First and completed by Nicholas the First, it was destroyed by Stalin the First in 1931. In 1994, it was rebuilt, as the newspapers write: “recreated in its original form.”
If we go in the same direction, we will end up in Gorky Park. Nearby is the Muzeon and the Tretyakov Gallery. Don't be Muscovites - be sure to go. (if you like it on Krymsky Val, then there is also a Gallery in Lavrushinsky Lane waiting for you)
In the area of Kutuzovsky Prospekt you will not pass by the skyscrapers of the Moscow City business complex. Walk across the Bagration pedestrian bridge to the Afimall City shopping and entertainment complex (here on the forum you can look for excursions to the Federation Tower).
Nearby are Vorobyovy Gory and Moskovsky State University. From here you can go to Poklonnaya Hill and Victory Park.
Where else to go. Parks. Izmailovsky, Sokolniki, Filevsky, Kolomenskoye... it’s impossible to list them all. At least visit the Patriarch's Ponds, they are located in the city center (Mayakovskaya metro station) - a legendary place (although if you have not read anything from Bulgakov, it may not seem so to you) and you can also go see Chistye Prudy. Personally, I love Kuzminki Park the most; it seems to me the most comfortable and homely.
It’s also worth going to the Moscow Zoo (Barrikadnaya metro station) and see the animals. If living animals scare you, you can go see life-size mammoth skeletons in the zoological museum and much more. Go, you won't regret it. The Zoological Museum in Moscow is popular with both children and adults.
And now I’ll mention the sights of Moscow that you will have to go to. It's difficult to get there on foot.
So what else can insatiable tourists see? VDNH. All-Russian Exhibition Center. (VDNKh metro station) It again became VDNH and ceased to be the All-Russian Exhibition Center. What to see is Mukhina’s sculpture “Worker and Collective Farm Woman” and the wonderful fountain “Friendship of the Peoples of the USSR”.
Ostankino estate in Moscow, don’t miss the opportunity to go to the pond. It’s difficult not to find them because the Ostankino TV tower is visible from all sides. By the way, go inside and buy a ticket to the very top of the tower (the entrance is on the left side of the fence if you are coming from the pond).
Novodevichy Convent and the famous Novodevichy Cemetery (Sportivnaya metro station).
Sports complexes - Olympic (Prospekt Mira metro station) and Luzhniki (Sportivnaya metro station).
Stalin's skyscrapers - seven specific buildings. There is no point in watching them all, just go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Smolenskaya Sennaya Square or to the Ukraine Hotel on Kutuzovsky, or even easier - go to Moscow State University, these are all high-rise buildings, they are the same, it’s enough to look at one to get a complete impression of the rest.
And of course, go to Tsaritsyno (Tsaritsyno metro station). Most large nature reserve in Moscow.
