The pristine beauty of alpine meadows, dense coniferous forests, snow-capped peaks, mountain lakes and rivers, and neat houses makes even the most indifferent people freeze with admiration. Recently, a network of hotels and catering establishments has been actively developing.

At the end of November, a favorable time is established for fans of ski slopes and turns, lasting until the end of March, when the thickness of the snow cover reaches its maximum. The variety of slope heights allows both experienced skiers and beginners to ski. The Savin Kuk trails are very popular among them, where you can go downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and sledding. Alpine skiing virtuosos prefer the highest slope (2010 m, elevation difference 800 m). The remaining ski trails are located lower (from 1400 m) and have many branches.

Kolasin

The monastery of the ancient Slavs in the past, the town of Kolasin is surrounded on all sides by mountains, creating almost windless weather and providing many convenient mountain slopes for skiing. That’s why Kolasin is in demand now ski resort, where tourists come from all over Europe. In winter, there is freedom here not only for skiers and snowboarders, but also simply for those who like a quiet, secluded holiday among winter beauties. But even in summer there are a lot of people here: climbers climb the slopes of the mountains, climb to the peaks; kayakers swim on the lakes. In the city and its surroundings there are unique ancient monuments that are worth seeing. Hiking trails lead to amazing mountain lakes, 5 of which are glacial, and the 6th, Biogradskoe, is a real pearl of these places, of seismic origin. All of them are located on the territory of a biosphere reserve with pristine nature, a rich world of flora and fauna.

Montenegro resorts with sandy beaches

The entire coast of Montenegro (300 km) contains 117 beaches with different surfaces: pebble, sand-pebble and sand. Of course, it’s comfortable to walk on soft sand barefoot; you can bury yourself in it and warm up your bones. For those who prefer to relax on the sand, you should know where the Montenegrin resorts with sandy beaches. A few kilometers from the city of Ultsyn there is the famous Great Beach, 13 km long and 60 m wide.

It is covered with fine white sand, which has medicinal properties, known to many Europeans. In the vicinity of Ulcin there is also Queen's Beach, with unusually soft sand and surprisingly clear water. Since it is surrounded by mountains on land, it can only be reached from the sea. There are wonderful sandy beaches in the Bar area, on the shores of Lake Skadar, on the Budva Riviera (Morgen I II, Becici, Kamenovo).

Resorts for families with children

The rich nature of Montenegro, its amazing beauty, relatively inexpensive prices for accommodation and food make it attractive for families with children. In large cities (Budva, Kotor), the island of Sveti Stefaniy, the cost of holidays is much higher than in small resorts, small towns and villages. Among them, it is worth choosing the best beach conditions in terms of safety and convenience. When planning to travel with children, it is best to book an all-inclusive hotel so as not to waste time searching for a suitable restaurant or tavern.

Good conditions are offered by the resorts of Bar, Tivat, Podgorica, Herceg Novi, where many inexpensive hotels, inns, boarding houses, private villas, and various food establishments are open. Local cuisine is different high quality. In the vicinity of these cities there are cozy resort villages, where there is all the necessary infrastructure for children.

Beach season

Like many Mediterranean resorts, on the Montenegrin coast the swimming season begins in May and ends in October. The exception is the city of Kotor, where the swimming season opens at the end of April and ends at the end of November. September – the time of the velvet season – no summer heat, but the sea is warm, there is an abundance of exotic fruits, various berries and vegetables on the market.

Where to go to Montenegro for a seaside holiday?

Beach season in Montenegro starts in May: despite the fact that the water at this time is still invigorating (+18˚C), vacationers get an excellent tan. By the end of June, the sea warms up to +23˚C, so it is best for families with children to go to local resorts in July-August (kids can splash in the water for hours without the risk of hypothermia).

Beach holiday in Budva

The best period for swimming is June (+21˚C) - September (+23˚C). In July-August the sea warms up to +24-26˚C.

Mogren Beach deserves the attention of vacationers (entrance fee is 1 euro per person, but from September paid entrance is canceled). There are two well-equipped areas for swimming: Mogren I (length – 140 m) and Mogren II (length – 200 m). The passage between them is made in the rock, which adds mystery to this area.

Relax on the beaches of Bar

Best time for holidays in – August (+31˚C). At the service of vacationers:

Golden Beach: the beach infrastructure (in addition to sand, there are pebbles and a concrete section) is minimal, but here you can relax with your own equipment for free.
Red Beach: the beach (which is accessed via equipped stairs) owes its name to pebbles and sand that have a red-brown tint. Red Beach is not very crowded because you need a car to get there (alternatively, you can take a bus). Guests can rent sun loungers and use a paid toilet.

In Bar you can have fun at open-air discos, and also explore the warship Dag while diving near the port.

Beach holiday in Becici

Becici ( average temperature air temperature in summer is +27˚C, and the water warms up to no lower than +24˚C until September) is famous for the sandy beach of the same name, more than 1.5 km long, as well as the annual beach soccer tournament held here (among the participants are world-class stars ). Those who love solitude can stay in the central part of the beach, and active vacationers can stay in the western part (this is where they will find points where they provide rental services for boats, water skis and scooters). There, those who wish will be able to engage in paragliding and windsurfing, play tennis, basketball and volleyball on the grounds designated for these activities.

Beach holiday in Petrovac

On one side (average summer air temperature is +25-27˚C, and water temperature is not lower than +23˚C) there is the sea, and on the other there are olive and coniferous groves. The shore on the 600-meter central beach is equipped with sun loungers, cafes and showers. Vacationers are recommended to come here wearing rubber shoes (they are sold near the coastline). Those who wish can relax here for free, bringing their own equipment and towels. Available entertainment is diving (the destroyer Zenta is subject to inspection), boats, ATVs, catamarans. As for the kids, you can let them splash in the shallow water (3-5 m from the shoreline) or play on the playground.

And in the north of the beach it is worth visiting the Venetian fortress of Castio. There is a memorial here erected in honor of the Montenegrin soldiers who fell in the Second World War. During the high tourist season, there are entertainment centers – night club and the Castello restaurant. It is worth noting that the fortress is also an observation deck: from there you can admire the harbor, coastal buildings, green cliffs and beaches.

Relax on the beaches of Herceg Novi

Herceg Novi is famous for its relict trees and shrubs, and is suitable for families, children and those wishing to improve their health. Swimming season it lasts from May to September (the water temperature at this time fluctuates around +22-26˚C), so you should not neglect the following beaches:

Central Beach: Vacationers have access to a sand and pebble strip where sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent, and there are grocery stores and cafes. Those who wish can sleep on their own towel.

How to spend a holiday in Montenegro?

For me, Montenegro is not quite beach country. Yes, of course, you can swim here 4-6 months a year for crazy beautiful beaches. But abundance unique nature and attractions in such a small area makes this country magical place for active holidaymakers.

Perhaps the ideal holiday in Montenegro is to rent an apartment with beautiful view somewhere in the Bay of Kotor, or another place that you like, rent a car (it’s better to do this in advance, for example) and travel everywhere, stopping in the most picturesque places and near any beaches. One highway passes through all the cities on the coast, the views from which are breathtaking at every turn.

An exclusively beach holiday here can be wonderful, in my opinion, only in very good hotel with its own spacious beach.

What's the weather like in Montenegro?

To fully enjoy the beauty of nature, admire ancient cities and breathe in the local air, I would advise you to come out of season, for example, in spring or autumn. Weddings and photo shoots in Montenegro are also best held at this time.

From the middle Martha It’s already quite warm, and although the weather at this time can be unpredictable, it is in the spring that Montenegro is buried in delicate greenery and flowering trees, April Wisteria, beloved by many, is blooming.

October, perhaps, my favorite month in Montenegro, a gentle velvet season, especially if you are lucky with the weather. By October, the sun sets much earlier, so evening swimming is unlikely to be comfortable; the sea is often warmer than the air.

IN November Golden autumn begins on the coast, warm and picturesque, but the evenings are already noticeably cooler. By the way, autumn sunsets are the most beautiful!

Winter in Montenegro it is a smooth transition from autumn to spring. The golden autumn continues throughout December, and although the nights can be cold (0... +10C), during the day the sun noticeably heats up to +15...+20C. But the rainy season, wind and storms can take you by surprise. IN rainy days damp and cool (+7…+15C). It is on the coldest days that the bay is decorated with snowy mountain peaks.

Roses and wild daffodils bloom all winter. Until spring there are oranges, tangerines, and lemons everywhere. TO February mimosa and camellia bloom, which in Montenegro means the arrival of a new spring.

Which city to choose for a holiday in Montenegro?

Each city is beautiful in its own way and has its own characteristics.

For exclusively beach holiday, I think it’s worth choosing cities and places open sea.

And if you are in the mood to travel and admire the beauty of Montenegro, I would advise you to opt for the cities or towns of the Bay of Kotor. I consider this part of Montenegro the most picturesque, and from the bay you can easily and quickly travel by car (it’s convenient to look at car rental prices) to other interesting places on the coast and to the north of the country.

Kotor beautiful and interesting, life is in full swing here almost all year round thanks to the constantly arriving ships with tourists. Lots of souvenirs, cafes and restaurants. The city beaches of Kotor leave much to be desired. But swimming in its surroundings is much more pleasant.

Perast, like a fairytale setting, a small town with one shop and restaurants along the sea. If you wish, you can even swim there, but it’s more difficult to do with kids.

IN Herceg Novi Although small, the old town is beautiful and special, and due to its location it is rarely crowded. But on the embankment (its length is about 7 km) life is always in full swing, even in winter there are a lot of people working here good cafes and restaurants for every taste. Herceg Novi is called a botanical garden and a city on steps, so if you are not a fan of physical activity or are vacationing with kids, it is better to choose places to relax near the sea. There are both concrete and pebble beaches along the entire embankment. Herceg Novi is located 20 minutes from Croatia.

Tivat interesting mainly due to Porto Montenegro, but for swimming this is not the most attractive beach, in my opinion.

Bar, Ulcinj, Petrovac- cities near the open sea, with which I am not familiar enough to draw my own conclusions regarding vacation. But if you plan to travel around Montenegro, from there you will have to travel longer to the cities of the Bay of Kotor.

Of the cities near the open sea, I am quite familiar, perhaps, only with Budva. It is a beautiful modern city with lots of entertainment.

Budva is the “capital” of the coast, with its attendant advantages and disadvantages. I know that many people love it, but I wouldn’t want to spend my holidays there as a tourist. And here's the one next door Saint Stephen deserves the attention of those for whom this journey is something special.

What places are worth visiting?

Everyone has their own list of favorite places in Montenegro. I’ll tell you what I can’t imagine traveling to Montenegro without.

If this is your first time in this country, take a ride along the road Bay of Kotor. To do this, you can take rent a car(or a bicycle if you are an experienced cyclist). Stop everywhere and take in the amazing views!

If you're hungry, stop at Perast. Take a walk along the beautiful promenade, where you will see restaurants right by the sea. And sail to the island of Gospa od Škrpela (Our Lady on the Reef), you will find people willing to take you there wherever you see boats.

Take another ride around the bay and visit Kotor. A walk through the Old Town is impressive. After lunch, stock up on water and climb the fortress. You will be treated to incredible views, but you shouldn’t do this in the heat and with kids.

If serpentines don't scare you, go to Lovcen, The Bay of Kotor will be in front of you at a glance.

Take a walk around Porto Montenegro(in Tivat), it is beautiful during the day, but it evening illumination admires. Try Moritz ice cream there, it leaves no one indifferent.

If you have the opportunity, visit a closed island Sveti Stefan. You can do this by renting a hotel room or booking a table in a restaurant on the island. But a walk in the park along the sea in front of the island and swimming with a view of Sveti Stefan will give you a lot of pleasure!

The cleanest water is in the area of Mogren beaches (they are nearby, separated by a rock); you can walk here from the city center in 15-20 minutes. By the way, they are best suited for families with children - the entrance to the water is gentle, and the area is small, which allows you to keep the child in sight.
